Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I hope your test results are good. Ginny - Hoping for the best for your DD and her baby this week. I'm sorry to hear about your DSIL. Funerals are so difficult during this time. Ruth - I agree with you about that BQ2 pattern. Looking at the quilts posted I would never have even purchased the pattern. But the soft rose pink fabric that will be the large block has a pretty pattern of large carnations and I think that is what drew me to the quilt displayed in the store. The cream and soft green sage fabric are very calming too. I'll be interested to see if I like it as well once I finish making it. Sue and Meg - Hope you are crafting. My lawn guy came early this morning, I wasn't even awake but rushed to get up and ready so I could pay him. I'm glad he was early since it's so hot and humid here. I don't know how he stands working in the heat 5-6 days a week, and he said it was getting tough on him. After he left I rode to the post office and dropped a few bills in the outside mailbox. I think I'm going to try some grocery shopping one day this week too. I'm going to try to get mostly cold things so I can use my cooler to put them in on the way home. Then I'll go another time for the dry goods. It's just too difficult trying to get everything at once now. I haven't gotten back to work on the quilting, but a new block came out today for the Silver Linings quilt along, so I hope to pick fabrics for that and get them cut and piece the block. It goes together very quickly. In case any of you have the time and are interested in seeing the fabrics some quilters are using for the Jelly Snowflake quilts, Pat Sloan's facebook has them posted. You have to keep scrolling down through the posts a lot because it's a mixture of posts about other quilts too. Also, it's a strange timeline since you'll have a post that was just a few minutes ago and then the next one was the day before, and then the next one was only an hour ago. I don't know why it's set up this way. Here's a link: www.facebook.com/groups/QuiltWithPatSloan/Take care everyone!

Here's a link to the facebook page that has some of the Silver Linings quilt blocks (includes the embroidery blocks too), in case you'd like to look at them. This page also have other quilts besides that quilt along so you also have to scroll down a lot. www.facebook.com/groups/SewQuiltyFriends.JacquelynneSteves/

Going to be an interesting week, as my SIL did pass away last night. DSIL has been asked to give a short message ( he is 90% of the way to being ordained). Funeral is THursday or Friday, depending upon his availability. He might be unavailable if Dd#1 is in the hospital delivering the baby.
Stopped in to see Dd and help out with the kids. They are very silly kids- good and reasonably well behaved though.
CJ-glad your lawn is done- I hear ya, its a challenge getting everything shopped for and in the house, especially with the heat. Shopping is no longer the simple process it used to be. Will check out Pat Sloans FB page ( I just joined it a few days ago). She does have some neat patterns. I do appreciate that most of her designs are not all that complicated.
Gotta head out for a quick errand. G

Ginny, my condolences to your family on the loss of your sil.
I'm going to look at those sites. I wonder if you have to be a group member to see the quilts but I guess I'll find out.

Ginny - My sympathies to your family. I hope things can be worked out with the funeral arrangements. I get emails from Pat Sloan so I know what's going on with her quilt alongs, so hopefully you'll get those too now. Ruth - those are both public Facebooks, so you should be able to see them fine

I did see them and I love them both. It's going to be so much fun looking at all the great quilts. I've seen several on there today that I know I could make...the quilting part itself I don't know but I think I could just do lines. I don't intend to make any really large quilts and I for sure wouldn't be entering any of them in a fair or anything. If I got any done at all they would just be for dh and I and maybe some of the grandchildren. My friend at Caps for Kids made a great baby quilt just using half blocks in a really nice EEyore fabric along with a plain one. they were actually small rectangles.

WEll I got the feet, legs, and body made for the doll. There's a LOT of increasing and decreasing involved. After you do the two legs you crochet around them, joining them together then make the body and the head all in one piece. After that is the two arms, the hair, and the little dress she includes in the pattern. I'm going to add shoes and undies and the little dress is so cute that I may have to make her more. I don't remember if a child just turning 3 knows how to button and unbutton and dress dolls. This dress has two buttons on the back.

Ruth, I doubt that most 3 year olds are able to button and unbutton- but some might be if the Buttons are large enough. Good to hear that you started the doll and got so far. I would encourage you to give quilting a try. Even if you only made lap quilts or a quilted pillow cover. The design does not need to be intricate, its more in good fabric selection. One thing I do like about Pat Sloan is that a lot of her patterns while pretty are also not insanely impossible.
CJ- I don’t know if I will get emails from Pat Sloan- i just signed up for her FB page. but at least now I know your secret....she emails you!! Just neat to see all that others are doing- and different fabric selections. How are you faring in this heat??
Thanks for the condolences to both of you.
SIL’s family is having a repast after the cemetery- in their house on a hot day- so it will be all closed up- and being outside will be difficult. It will most likely be 30 people- and I will most likely not attend. too many people in a small space and no social distancing. They will have to understand.
Gonna go read. Good night all G

Hello Crafters Ruth - I've made several quilt tops where I just sewed some pieces of fabrics together (just large squares), so I know you could easily do something like that. I know I'm not the best person to talk to about actually quilting a quilt (since I've done so few ), but I did see this video the other day and it makes me want to try it on one of my small quilts: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-cybnzPgfM&list=PL-cm-YpUYsFnGEdBeCICwK322sWmiYU2o&index=7I thought you might like to see it. I don't have any fusible batting, so I'd have spray, pin or baste my quilt sandwich. But I do like her chalk marker - I might need one of those Ginny - You are smart to think about whether to attend the gathering or not. It's so difficult to know if you are around others who have the virus. We had a lot of rain here yesterday evening. Thunderstorms kept moving through the area and then kind of just sitting on top of us. I wish my weather station still worked, but the battery died on it. I'd like to know how much rain we received. It looks like the next few days can possibly have more thunderstorms, but I hope they miss my area the next time. I went to the grocery store and bank this morning. There weren't many people in the grocery store and I found about 3/4ths of what I was looking for. There are still several things out of stock. I did buy mostly cold foods so the next time I go it will be mostly dry goods I'll be looking for. Since I went out so early, when I came back I worked on my Jelly Snowflake quilt (the version in pink, green and white) and also the latest block for the Silver Linings quilt along. I finished all four of the second set of Jelly Snowflake blocks and I love the colors togethers. They are all very soft colors and look pretty together. I also finished the quilt along block so I'm caught up and there are only 3 blocks left to go. I'm editing to add that I wanted to tell you that the Jelly Snowflake block 1 really went together quickly once all the fabric was cut, just in case any of you want to save the patterns now and do it later Take care and have a great day!

Ginny, my condolences to you and extended family.
We just had a huge T storm in several segments. Tomorrow I'll need to check the roof, the car, and the screens. At one point it sounded like the hail was roaring. It was bouncing off the back lawn about 2-3 feet in the air.
A memory care unit in Billings announced today that 43 residents and 15 staff members have tested positive. More test results are pending. Yellowstone County is now leading in the total number of cases to date. Rumor has it that members of the football local team and two who were in jail during the last week have tested positive.

Sue, even though most places are loosening recommendations and even planning on opening schools, your info suggests that that's not a good idea. Here they had a huge increase in numbers due to caregivers and students in a child care center tested positive. 120 people all together have been told to quarantine. Who knows how many of those actually will comply.
I'm working on the doll today. I finished the head and the panties and now am working on the first arm. It goes so slow because of the small hook and all the increases and decreases involved.

HELLO AND GOOD EVENING, I will start with the not so nice news. MARY JO and I ended our friendship yesterday.
I could tell by the way she was talking what was up. When she said there is no room for discussion I knew what was coming.
been expecting it for a few months.
what made me upset is what she was saying sounded like a well rehearsed speech. so when she said 'I am saying good bye now" I said goodbye loudly and hung up.I didn't know cordless phones could be hung up that loud.
Mj tends to be very sensitive person.can't seem to let things from childhood past go.
I am probably on her c------ s--- list.that's what she call some one who upsets her about something.
Ruth use the buttons and what ever item on the doll. this is how kid learn to use those items. I suggest not to tiny or not to big.
My older Friend Mary now with the LORD had a business of making babie doll clothes and wedding gowns.she did no believe in velcro.said kids have to lean
I helped her at a few craft shows.she had customers buying the clothe from her when their moms and their grammas bought the doll clothes. 3-4 generations that is how good she was.
she would go look at other vendors and tell me how the seams were not done right.threads not cut off etc.
boy cj you sure can find the websites and videos. I might try that quilting top one someday.
I signed up for pat sloan's website. TRIED to sing up for the snow flake jelly roll sew long. no luck. not sure what I DID OR DID NOT DO
GINNY you have my condelonces.Phyl

Sue - I hope you didn't have any damage from the hail. Ruth - Good luck with the doll. I'm sorry to hear about the increases in the virus in your states especially in care homes. We had that too at the beginning before they shut them down to visitors and made the employees get tested. I'd hoped that other states seeing how the virus spread to the residents would take precautions so they didn't have the problems we did in the states who got the virus earlier Phyl - I'm sorry to hear about your friendship ending, it's tough to lose a friend after so many years. Here's a link where you can sign up for email notifications from Pat Sloan when she makes a post: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/Up near the top under the heading "All Pat Sloan's Projects", there's a link to click that says "Enter your email for notices of new Articles" She doesn't exactly send you emails specifically for each project, you just get an email when she's posting info about any project and then you can look for the Jelly Snowflake posts. Here's the supply list: patsloan.typepad.com/files/jelly-snowflake-fabric-supply-list.pdfHere's a link to the instructions for the first block: www.aquiltinglife.com/2020/07/jelly-snowflake-mystery-quilt-block-1.html/Block 2 instructions will be out on Thursday at a different quilter's website, but Pat Sloan will link to it. I'll be glad to post the link to for you. I hope you can save the patterns even if you make the quilt later.

Thanks Phyl- sounds like Mary Jo called with her own agenda and nothing you ever said or did would change her mind. Don’t upset yourself. You could do nothing and if she was that inflexible, then who needs a friend like that! Cherish those who love you, your friends and family and pray for Mary Jo that she can find some peace. Sounds like an angry person- don’t let her steal your joy. Enjoy the Pat Sloan site (thanks CJ). And have some fun here with us.
Ruth, glad you are working on the doll so that it gets done and you can check it off your list. Is Sid your next project??
Sue. Thanks for the condolences. Hope you had no damage from the hail. Try not to worry too much about Covid. You are very cautious and stay away from danger areas. (Living in NY state, we faced about the worst this country has seen). Wear masks when out, socially distance and practice good and frequent hand washing. It works.
My quilting buddy came over- we shared a nice afternoon together and a cup of tea.
See ya tomorrow Ginny
