That sounds like some pattern from Ravelry Ruth- if everyone HAS to use that pattern! Honestly, knowing you, you have this pattern figured out and really donβt even need the pattern. I did nor read that you actually bought the pricey pattern. I know I have seen patterns for that item before, which if I have the right idea in my head is not much more than a large scarf with pockets on the end. Does not seem that tough at all. Love the anthracite color, especially for something like what you are planning on making.
Yes, I got to church yesterday- pretty much always do get there. From what I heard, my church will continue to broadcast the entire service online for those who are still not comfortable with being in a crowded church. The church is still set up for social distancing to be compliant with the guidelines set by the governor.
Got to Christmas tree shops yesterday with my friend. Bought an adorable little cabinet to place in the laundry room which will cover up an eyesore that I cannot do much of anything with to cover. (Its a pipe that is not totally covered by the Sheetrock.) the cabinet works perfectly, was not too expensive either. It was nice to get out with my friend too. Think a short road trip was good for both of us.
CJ- looks like that tropical storm is working its way up the coast.. Knowing you, you are well prepared anyway. Stay safe. Its been a dry summer, but to make up for all the needed rain in one storm is not a good thing either.
I did get some more work done on the binding. Just a few more hours of work on it....I am sure everyone here is tired of hearing about it!! Its just slow painstaking work. Have a great day all G

Good morning Ginny and all. I hope this will be a good week for all of you
Ginny, what a great find that cabinet was! Perfect for something you needed to hide that pipe and functional as well! No we don't get tired hearing about you sewing the binding on your quilt. We love to hear about your progress.
CJ, I hope that neither you nor Ginny are hit to badly by this storm. As Ginny said, we know you are prepared.
It's a hot day here again today then two days of "cooler" weather with temps "only" 87 or so.
Even after what I said about hats I still worked on hats yesterday. I love this pattern and dh happend to pick one up and praised it also. I've made several with that pattern so far and will be making more. It's a great pattern and not only easy but a fun pattern to do also. I got it from youtube but wrote out the instructions but after the first one I didn't need them anyway...that's how easy it is. Yes this shawl is just as you described ... a wide scarf with pocket sewn on. You could even make it by turning up the ends to form pockets then crocheting an edge and you would even have to sew but it seems that everyone insists on that one particular pattern. They are probably the same people that tell their chidren that they don't need to do everything their friends do....or do parents even bother to do that anymore.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you are making progress on the binding. I hope I can get to that point with a few of the tops I want to machine quilt. I'm also happy for you that you have been able to attend church services, sounds like your church has worked out logistics to be safe. Ruth - Hope you don't have too much hot weather. What is the name of the hat pattern that you love? I'd like to look at it and/or watch the youtube video of it. I'm glad you found one you like so much. Phyl, Sue, Rene and Meg - Hope you can get some crafting in. Thanks for all the nice compliments on my quilts. I hope you don't think I post them to brag, it's just to share. I think I love looking at pictures of quilts, and actual quilts, as much or more than I like making them. So it's fun to share with everyone. If any of you have pictures that you are able to attached in an email, I'd be glad to get them and then post them on the board. Just let me know and I'll give you my email address in a private message. I did a bit of counted cross stitch embroidery Saturday night and finished a block I was working on and then I put that project away. It just isn't interesting me right now and I don't want to force myself to work on it. I have many other hand stitching projects I hope to work on. I also finished the pink and green version of the snowflake quilt, but want to put some borders on it. I'm taking some time to think about what borders I want on the Christmas version. I do know that I want the first inner border to be the background fabric on both of these, so I'll try to get that on them this week. The new color for August (for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge) is purple - one of my favorite colors So I pulled my fat quarters that I want to use and pressed them today. Hopefully I can get to the cutting and making the blocks soon. I didn't feel well yesterday, I think it might have been a sinus thing. I had one eye that watered all day. I finally took some allergy medicine and it stopped. I'm a bit concerned about the storm coming up the coast tomorrow. We are having some rain this afternoon, but the bulk of it sounds like it will be here around 10:00 A.M. tomorrow and they say it should be out of the are by 3:00. I just hope we don't lose power, that's always the worst thing since then I have to worry about the sump pump not working. But I'll hope for the best for everyone in the path of the storm. Take care everyone!

CJ, we definitely don't think you're trying to brag. I think you are a very humble person who makes amazing quilts and when we asked you agreed to share by putting up pictures and we love it. I'm sure I can speak for everyone on that. And same with me on crochet things... I love to look at what people have made and watch videos of them making things (I don't really care for crocheting along with them but sometimes an item pops up that you just have to make} The hats I'm making are from a youtuber that calls herself bag o' day and it's the Joshua tree hat pattern. I'll get the link for you. She makes a really good video. I even posted to her how much I liked it and how good I thought it was. Also CJ, I've been meaning to thank you for your comment about creativity. I thought my flitting between patterns was, in my case, more being unfocused Yes sump pumps can be very worrisome. Back in ny when we decided to sell our house they had just made a law that any houses sold had to have a sump pump installed. It would have been great to have had it the whole 5 years we lived there as our basement flooded a couple times.

Good evening! Oh my gosh, CJ I am THRILLED that you have figured out how to post pictures of your wonderful quilts. Not bragging at all, my friend, just showing us all the cool stuff you have been telling us about. (Someday I will figure out posting pics also ha ha ha). So glad that you are able to play with your favorite color this month!! How exciting is that and I cannot wait to see this block in your favorite color. Bet you have all kinds of wonderful purple fabrics in that color- think we all collect craft supplies in our favorite shades. Hope that you make it through Isaias ok and keep your power. I get that- i have already taken out my sump pump, and pulled into the shed a lot of summer furniture and items so they do not blow around. I will be praying for you and praying that you come through this storm well. Its nerve wracking, I well know that!!! Hope you are well enough inland that rising water levels is not a concern.
Ruth- one of the many things I love about your Dh is how he supports your crocheting. So sweet of him to Indicate that he likes that hat pattern. Thanks for posting the link - its such a pretty hat. Must be easy from what you said....I will have to see if I can make some sense of the pattern. I have a lot of yarn in smaller quantities, but enough for a hat. And I am totally sure that Lionbrand.com or Michaels or Redheart.com has a similar pattern to that shawl. So silly that others must make exactly the same pattern. I think its neat when you see the same concept but with variations- as in different colors or patterns.
Ok, time to get comfortable and work on , you guessed it , the binding.
Have a great night all. G

The temp here was only 88 degrees. Now it's going to rain. T storm unfortunately. I like watching the lightning, but it can be very dangerous in the National Forest.
I had a long conversation with my NYC daughter about reopening schools. DH"s niece is coming from Italy and plans to attend NYU. My DGD are supposed to start school soon. They're both going to be at the same high class school. I don't think anyone has a good read on what will happen. For a freshman, I think a gap year might be better. College is a special experience, and not all of it happens in the classroom, but at 18, I think it might be difficult to understand "losing a year." As I told my daughter, I'm glad I'm out of it! I hear people on either side of the issue using faulty logic to promote their points of view.
Flash! Boom! BOOM BOOM!

Phyl- that is absolutely wonderful news for you!! Thank you Lord. I LOVE that English muffin bread- been making it for many many years. Yes you do need cornmeal for that. What I usually do is put the whole small bag of cornmeal in a larger zip lock and keep it in the fridge. Then it lasts for years and stays bug free. Just as an idea, if you ever make chili in the crock pot, there are several great recipes to add a cornbread topping to your chili. And I know you go to Cracker Barrel- online you can find a copycat cornbread recipe that tastes just like theirs. Ok its not healthy for you but tastes great!!!! Hope your sciatica calms down and you can be comfortable.
Sue- did you get much rain? the one good thing I can say is that NY is going very well with regard to Covid- but I really do understand the concern about schools being able to open safely. And it does appear as though some younger adults (this is not a statement about your family but about others) are not taking this illness seriously. You are so right about college being so much more than just attending classes....I suggested to a young adult I know that she take a few online classes at our local community college just to stay in practice of learning....and then transfer those classes to the school she really wants to attend at the appropriate time. As far as schools go, the governor has still not made a decision regarding if the public schools will open. Difficult time indeed.
Did get some more work done on the binding.I am hoping by the end of the week to have it done.
Hope i keep my electricity through the day.... Stay safe if you are in the path of the tropical storm. Ginny

Getting some intermittent rain here...CJ- how are you doing???

PHyl, that is EXCELLENT news...the best. Praise the Lord! I've prayed a prayer of thanks. Now if your nerve and si joint pain would just let up but at least it's not life threatening. And now that you've found it is benign I can mention with scaring you that almost all thyroid cancers are the top in cancers that can easily be cured.
Sue we've had so called thunder storms nearly everyday lately at some point and that turned out to be what they were...thunder and lightening..no rain. Oh one day there was rain for about 3 minutes. Yes I'm concerned about what will happen when school reopens. So far children have not been very affected but once a lot of children start getting together we just don't know what will happen. I do know that children are not going to be very compliant when it comes to keeping masks in place
Ginny, you had a very good point about online classes. Both my ds' oldest children have done that and maybe the third also. The others are homeschooled anyway as you know but the one that will start college classes this fall is doing the online college classes right now.
Ginny, I love your opening but every week I think "hmm, we don't talk much about our weight loss journies". I'm at a weight that I never dreamed possible but I do have difficulty staying here. My dh is always telling me that I don't eat enough. I know the problem is lack of exercise but I'm a lazy person and hate exercise of any kind.I can tell, though, that it's having a bad effect on me, that is eating so little and not getting in exercise.ONly thing I exercise is my fingers with typing online and crochet. That doesn't do much
CJ, great idea to change up the crafting by going to embroidery for a time. And I sure agree that if there's something you aren't enjoying, stop doing that one for awhile and go back to what you like better.

Hello Crafters Phyl - That's wonderful news, I'm so happy for you and I know you are relieved. Hope you enjoy your English Muffin Bread Ruth - That was an interesting and cute hat on that video you linked. I bet it looks cute in different colors, or even in a variegated. Ginny - I hope the storm doesn't give you any problems and you don't lose power. It's moving so quickly, hopefully it will be up to Maine soon. Sue - Hope your thunderstorm wasn't too bad. It's really a dilemma for everyone trying to figure out how to get kids back in school, I feel for all the parents and educators making those decisions. Rene - Hope you are getting some crafting in. I survived the storm. It went through very quickly this morning and was out of the area way before they predicted it would. But there was a lot of rain. Southern parts of my state were hit bad and I think they had a tornado too - but mostly a lot of flooding. Right now it's sunny, breezy and in the 70s, so I'm enjoying having the windows open. I did have a few problems from the storm - had some rain coming in around the window AC unit, so I have to try to seal that up better. And I found some rain coming in around an outside wall in my basement. This is an unfinished basement so it's not a big issue, but I need to get some water sealant and apply it because this is in the small room with the outside door that we had mold problems in several years back and I had to have a remediation done. I don't want to have mold problems in there again. I have a fan running in that room right now, so hopefully it dries it out. I try not to complain about things in my house because I know how very fortunate I am to have a place to live and money for food and other necessities, but it sure is hard dealing with all these home things on my own. I'm just not a person that is skilled that way, so it's all a struggle. But I know I'll get through it and hopefully someday I can get out of this old house and move somewhere with less maintenance I did get some fabric strips pieced for the first inner border on my two Jelly Snowflake quilts. The quilts measure about 49x49, so I needed 5 of the 2 1/2 inch strips joined together to put the borders on. I'll try to get them sewn on soon and then I can figure out what I want to do for the next border. I don't have a lot of fabric left for the pink and green quilt, so I'll have to be creative, or just put the small border on and be done with it. Take care everyone!

CJ- just glad you made it through the storm ok. It could have been so much worse. And i do get it, its a burden wondering and being concerned it your home will make it through a hurricane like that- and knowing if you prepared enough or if a home sustained any damage. Glad you got some work done on the jelly snowflake quilts. I am sure you will figure out some creative way to finish the pink ang green quilt...
