Hello Crafters I couldn't let the mistake stay in the Oh My Stars quilt top, so last night I pulled out 3 of the seams around the block I needed to fix and made the fix and sewed the seams back up. It looks fine now, and I'm glad I did it. The mistake I'd made was not putting the 2 star points on one of the blocks surrounding the center of the star. So it looked really strange just having 3 sides with star points. I'm posting a few pictures of the completed top for you to see: That strip of fabric you see at the bottom is the back of a Jelly Roll Race quilt I made and I machine quilted it myself on a longarm at a quilt shop. I was pretty happy with how it turned out even though the loops are not very even Closeup of the fabrics:

Here's the Jelly Roll Race quilt I made, it just needs to be trimmed up and the binding put on: I chose this one to quilt on the long arm machine since I figured the prints were so busy it wouldn't show any quilting mistakes

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and not affected by weather issues. It's a cooler less humid day here, but supposed to be hot and humid again tomorrow. I have lots of things I really need to do around the house and outside of the house too, but I don't feel motivated to do any of them I was checking my fig bush yesterday and I don't think many of the figs are going to ripen, even though it's covered in them. It's getting really late in the year and when they haven't ripened by now I found that they mostly just fall off. Hopefully I'll get a few of them to enjoy. Take care everyone!

Great idea. It took about three months after I contacted mine to hear from the IRS but some of that, I think, was the woman at the congressman's office. She sounded a little scatterbrained. Of course I'm still waiting for the IRS to figure out why they didn't send me a check to begin with but at least now I know that they're aware. So good luck and hopefully you have better luck and get faster results.

CJ, that Oh My Stars quilt is one of the most beautiful things I have seen. I can well understand why you wanted to fix that error. It even has the teal ribbons for ovarian cancer. the colors and the workmanship are all wonderful! I like the other one also but that teal one really takes first place
It's still hot here today and will be tomorrow too but then a cooldown. All this week it's been close too or even hit 100 but Monday is supposed to be high of only 68. What a shock that will feel like. It will be down to low 40's at night.
I didn't work on the shawl at all yesterday. it has only a couple more rows to go then I make the pockets and sew them on. I'm not sure if I'll put a small border on it or not. It depends on the yarn. I spent a lot of time yesterday, after I got home, looking at crochet videos.

CJ- what is with our weather??? Today is just so lovely- Air conditioner is off and the windows are off, and tomorrow is supposed to be hot and humid. That Oh my Starts quilt is magnificent!! I love the colors- a clean and crisp palate of teal and white. Beautiful job putting it together and with fabric selection. Glad you fixed it- now that you have explained what the mistake was, I think it would have been somewhat noticeable and would have bothered you considerably. You did a fine job quilting the jelly roll race quilt- really none of us are sending our quilts in for judging - and it looks just fine to me. The Oh My Stars quilt- how will you finish that one? Its a perfect candidate for long arming- whether you do it yourself or send it to someone. So pretty....and yes I know its pricey- but you put such effort into your quilting once in a while its a nice thing so splurge on.
Ruth, well checking out crochet videos sure counts as crafting. Did you find anything good or a new pattern?? Someday I will research why your weather has such dramatic temperature swings- its always a shock to me how your day time temps can be high and your night time lows 40 degrees lower. Pretty crazy to me..... Did you ever actually get your stimulus check?
Trip to the quilt shop was a success....I got the batting I need for the Christmas panel quilts for free - I had store credit points- and spent only a few dollars (3) to get some thread. When I got home, I had another coupon from the quilt shop in the mail- this one for double points and $5. My buddy got one too, so I guess its her turn to drive there next month.
Gonna enjoy this lovely cool evening. BBL Ginny

Rene, I don't remember where you said you were in Tx but I sure hope ;you're not near where that hurricane is going to hit.
Ginny, no I haven't received the EIC. When I talked to the IRS agent she told me that she did see that they didn't send me one and now I have to give them time to find out why. As if I haven't already given them time. I did see something on tv about the gov't sending out 50,000 checks because of errors but I didn't hear the whole thing to see if it was the stimulus checks or not

gramma14, we're on the coast just down from Galveston -but all is good here today. Just a little wind last night, but nothing more than a normal thunder storm.

Glad you're okay Rene, although you have had your turn with hurricanes.
My DD in Northern California is going to Wisconsin for a month or possibly more to get away from the smoke. They have very friends who moved there a few years ago. When school starts, they'll be online in Wisconsin instead of California. Cj, I like your teal quilt top. Could have something to do with teal! I have lots of teal in my house. Backsplash, countertops, sheets, a room. I'm tempted to go overboard and make everything teal! The jelly roll race intrigues me. I've seen variations, and I have tons of fabric.
We had a doozy of a T storm last night with hail, lots of rain and some very close booms that seemed to rumble on forever. There's supposed to be another round today. There is definitely a cooling trend with more highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. I'm ready!

Rene, I'm glad to hear that you didn't get much of that hurricane. I'm sure you're really happy about it. I feel bad for those that are affected
Sue we didn't have any rain or thunder storms yesterday but just had one today with two separate deluges of rain. I'm sure it's dried up already. It's bright and sunny now
I have the shawl all finished now except I need to sew on the pockets for both this one and the other that's completed. I also may still put just a sc border along the edges. It just, in my opinion, makes it more finished looking. I had a problem with the pockets on this one too in that I made the second one smaller but luckily I discovered that very soon after starting it. Now I just have one more thing to make and a few things to add finishing touches then I can wrap and pack everything and go on to making Christmas things.Well maybe one more thing for ds..we'll see.

Hello Crafters Thanks for the kind words on my quilts. I can't take any credit for picking the mixture of fabrics. I bought the Jelly Roll (with the assorted fabrics already in it) and the teal quilt was a fat quarter pack of coordinated fabrics. I've since learned that I shouldn't buy fat quarter packs, since I have a hard time finding a project for them. Most of the precuts I have trouble with finding the right pattern for, but a few I've bought have made nice quilts. Ruth - I hope you can finish up the shawl soon, I'm sure it looks great. It's nice that you have most of your Christmas gifts done, I'm sure that's a great feeling. Sue - Hope the storm brought you some needed rain and cooler weather. The Jelly Roll race quilt was pretty easy to make. I think I used an old tutorial (video) from MSQC to do mine. Rene - I'm glad you weren't in the path of the storm and haven't been affected. Ginny - I'm glad you found something to buy at the quilt store and now you have another coupon to use! That's a smart idea the store has to send coupons so they get customers to come in. Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting some crafting done. I went out to mail letters at the post office today, I just drop them in the outside box. This is the only time I've gone out this week, it was nice to stay home. I need to get out next week and do a few things though - and fortunately it will be cooler than today (in the 90s). I still need to get my sewing machine cleaned and a new needle put in before I work on another project. I might try to do some sorting of my fabric too. I bought a few downloadable quilt patterns yesterday from the Fabric Cafe - those are the 3 Yard Quilts. I want to try to make some more of those. Take care everyone!
