WE have a lot more snoke today. I wonder what fires it's from. I'd guess both from the Calif fires and the one in Yellowstone.
I really dislike working with videos so usually I watch and write down the instructions as I watch and do it from there. Yes that woman does do a fairly good job. I'm going to make some of my Christmas ones from her video instructions because they're easy and much faster than the others. There's another video I don't know if I mentioned by a person named Erina's Crochet Corner or something like that. It's pretty easy also. I keep finding new ones and want to make them all. I need a couple more hands
Well Ginny, it's as I said, you are so kind to do that. Your retraining of them will make it safer for all.I'd sure never make it as a bus driver

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope you can get the drivers trained (that was a job my father did a long time ago) and I'm glad you figured out the crochet instructions. They said we have smoke here too from the fires, but it's so high up the only effect is just some cloudiness. Ruth - Sorry to hear you have more smoke. I hate to hear you are going to get temps in the 90s again, we usually get hot weather about 3-4 days after you have it out west. I went out this morning to get groceries, mail some bills and I planned to gas up my car. The bills and groceries went well although there were still a few things that were in short supply. I was happy to find canned green beans and bought several cans. I feel like I'm good with groceries now and will just need to go back in a few weeks for dairy items. It's just not a fun experience going to the store anymore, so I'm happy to avoid it. As for getting gas, I have a gas card for this station (BP) and tried to use it at the pump and you had to answer whether it was a debit card or not. I said no, because it isn't a debit card and then the message came up to go inside and see the cashier. I tried another pump to see if anything would be different but it was the same. I didn't want to deal with going inside because they make you give a certain dollar amount you want to get or if you want to fill up (like I did) then they keep your card and you have to go back inside. So I just left, since I didn't really need to get gas. I'll go to another station (Shell this time) in the next few weeks and use my Shell card and get gas. It's just irritating when things don't work out No crafting me, going out just mentally exhausts me - dealing with the drivers on the road, wearing the mask in the store, washing your hands multiple times - all just minor stuff, but I don't feel like doing much after going out anymore. Take care everyone and have a good day.

That's her home address, right. I think I have that one but what I want to do is write and send cards once she gets to rehab and the nursing home. I'm sure she'd love to receive a lot of mail there

Ruth, I would have made a lousy nurse so don’t be hard on yourself.....Yes I wrote down her directions and then needed to see the video again- but it only took two viewings. I have not seen it to the end, but can at least get the body of it done and then see how she finishes it later. Actually I think I can figure out from how she started it how she finished it. The Erinas crochet corner pattern sounds interesting too, but I am going to stick with this one....I am too lazy to take on a new pattern for sure.
CJ- like you my “smoke” seems to be high clouds. I would think that the remains of Sally will scrub the air for your area....although you do not need the rain. Glad you got those errands done- I hear ya, its so much like work to go out now- and does not seem worth the effort. I needed some supplies for my cat- and ended up placing in a nice walmart.com order, which arrived on Tuesday. It saved me an hour of driving and wearing masks etc.....Those debit cards are a royal pain!!!! I have had that happen also and am so tired of the nonsense they put the card holder through. Hope that you can find a nice way to de stress and relax after what seems to have been a taxing day.
Phyl- so glad to hear that your pain has lessened and that the injection seems to be helping. I bought my Christmas panels in July - knowing that they would go fast once they came in. And I think with most people not getting out as much, things will sell more quickly. Hope you have all the supplies you want for Christmas gifts.
gonna sit and crochet....been a long day. I hope and pray that the one driver is able to pass. I guess I should hope that he is safe enough to pass, so that all can stay safe.
Hi to Sue and Rene....and anyone who I might have missed. Ginny

YES RUTH that is her home address.MJ will give us another address in time. we do need to give Doris sometime to settle in. this happened so fast. there is no reason for now why you cannot send a card and send a another card later.
when Doris had that surgery a couple of years ago she came out of the sleep medicine and could not remember MJ for a few days. took awhile before she wanted on the computer. she started the train thread at lost interest in it.
I did the thread to give Doris encouragement now
she had one tia who knows when the next one will happen. think she is about 87.seems to me her and dessie are the same age..Phyl

I can'tremember exactly how old Doris is. I kinda thought she was 85 now but I very easily could be wrong.
I do intend to send her cards frequently. If a bunch of us do that it will lift her spirits. I do remember when she had the surgery that her memory lapsed temporarily. It happens often in elderly people are moved from one place to another even if they don't have surgery like Doris did.Just being away from a familiar environment and routine can cause problems in that area.

So kind of those who are keeping in touch with Doris and sending her cards. Mental stimulation is really important as a person ages and is shuttled from facility to facility.
Worked standby this am, so I got some crocheting time in.
Off to look at my lawn mower and see what I can do with it to make it work. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's coolish here and we're getting some showers this afternoon, evening and into the morning. I think it's the northern bands from the hurricane - but fortunately it's light rain and no wind. Hope the weather where you are is getting better. I feel like I could get a migraine or sinus headache, which shows me that my headaches are mostly weather related. I started doing some piecing on the quilt I'm working on and I'm just not happy with the fabrics in this design and how they look together. I think I might stop this pattern and use the blocks I've done so far to make two other quilts. One of the blocks is a 9 patch so I'm thinking about making 12 of those blocks and then doing a Disappearing Nine Patch quilt top. The fabrics in these blocks are almost solid colors so I may look and see if I can find any other fabric (floral or novelty) that matches them and I could use that for a border. I'm glad I tried a few blocks first because I would have hated to put in the time to make the original quilt top and then been disappointed. Take care everyone!

I had to call the paramedics this morning. hb is in the ER. His blood sugar was low. I'm getting test results online, and I've talked to the doctor. hb had knocked over a lamp and was not making sense, couldn't get out of bed. They're doing a CT scan and checking out other possibilities. It's not clear whether he may have fallen. The lamp was in pieces, and he wasn't able to answer questions.
I'm hoping that he will be admitted for at least overnight.

Sue so sorry for your hubby's misfortune. I hope he is ok and they find a simple solution. Were you allowed to go to the ER to be with him or do you get all the info online or by phone. I know this is very hard for you so I hope they do keep him overnight at least so that you can get some rest.
CJ, I'm glad too that you were able to find out what the quilt was going to look like before you put in all that time and may have made blocks that you couldn't use for anything. The disappearing nine block sounds interesting. I'm going to have to look that up.
Ginny, did you get the lawn mower going ok? Dh and I don't get along well with lawn mowers. We have quite a collection of them that are no in working order. Can't dispense of them unless we find a way to get them to the local landfill.
I decided to revise what more I needed to make for the INdy people so I decided on a tote bag as one of the gifts for youngest dgd. I'm going to wrap her present, put it inside the tote bag and then wrap the whole thing. She'll be looking for a gift that looks like it could be a cameral then will start opening the rest and finally find the camera wrapped inside that tote. It's all done now except for sewing the triangles to make the rectange bottom and for dh to put on the grommets for me. Then I have two more things to make, maybe only one. To send there that is.Then I start things for those that live here

hb was sent home last night. Diagnosis was hypoglycemia. Everything else checked out okay. The ER doctor truly understood the challenges of working with dementia patients, but that's not an acceptable diagnosis for admission to the hospital overnight, even if the caregiver needs a break! I need to talk with his PCP about reducing the amount of insulin and getting set up with hospice. I can't do more than I'm already doing without help. So it's time to work on Plan Q. Q is for quandary and figuring out how to keep my exposure to covid 19 at a minimum while getting the kind of help I need. What furniture needs to be moved around to make this happen successfully. And what I need to put off for now - indefinitely.
hb is able to get up the stairs. Whether he should or not is an entirely different question.
Bad smoke again today. Unhealthy.
