Phyl- good to see you here.. Yes, I will take the warm caramel sauce which sounds so very good! Hoping that your sciatic nerve continues to calm down and that you can get to the point where you can comfortably sit and sew. My mom had intermittent problems with hers, and I know its so very painful. I too was taught to try hand drawing (repetitively ) the FMQ design I wanted to sew...it develops muscle memory to follow the pattern. I think CJ did great and love her table runner....think she accomplished just what she wanted to do.

I definitely will take the warm caramel sauce. It's one of my favorite things.
I always wondered too, how Doris can write such clear messages on the threads if she's in as bad a shape as MJ claims. And she does all those word games which you sometimes have to do some really clear thinking for sometimes.

It sounds like an interesting mystery for sure.....some can write clearly- and some have good days and bad. I hope that Doris really is Doris and is able to post for herself. I have in the past posted for someone else, who for personal reasons would not be able to get to post, but always indicated that I was a ghost writer for that person. IMO the really sad part of this is no one knows what reality is and there is no clear way to ascertain what the truth is.
Lovely weather here in my area, sat outside and read the paper and watched the birds eating. Think I am planning on investing in another shepherds hook and a squirrel baffle- trying to find a way I can feed the birds through the winter (which we have always done) so that I can continue to enjoy them with perhaps a bit less maintenance. More internet research is needed I suppose. Ginny

Hello Crafters Phyl - Hope you will soon be feeling better so you can sit and sew. I'm sorry to hear that your friend Doris is not doing well. I hope she has care so she is not in pain. Thanks for the information on free motion quilting and letting me know about Lori Kennedy, I pulled up her website and will look at it. Ginny - I'm glad you are enjoying the nice weather too. It's sunny and cool here. I've decided to stop feeding the birds. It makes me sad but I was having so many problems with their droppings all over my back steps and them getting into the bathroom fan vent that I just need to stop. I have a bit of leftover seed that I'll put out soon and then I'm done. Ruth - Hope you are getting started on some new projects. I'd love a piece of apple pie! I used to make pies all the time - peach in the summer, apple in the fall and cream pies other times. I have a recipe for crumb topping that I used with the peach and apple lots of times, I like it better than just a 2 crust pie. I have a recipe for an applesauce snack cake that I love to make in the fall. I bake it in a 9x9 pan. As for the table runner - it measures 18 1/2 by 51 1/2. I just used a large piece of fabric I had (probably 2 yards) and cut the two pieces to sew together. I didn't free motion, I used my walking foot. And I used a wavy stitch that is programmed into my machine and put the stitch length at 3.5. So all I had to do was just move the quilt through the machine and the lines waved automatically. I also used my machine quilting gloves and that helped. I have a few goals with the machine quilting - I want to start quilting some of the tops that I don't like as much to get practice, I want to use my new machine I bought a few years ago and try it for machine quilting, and then I hope to feel comfortable enough to try quilting some of the quilt tops that I like. I've already selected my next victim, I mean quilt top , to work on. I really prefer just to do straight line quilting, or using a stitch on my machine, rather than free motion quilting. I'll save any free motion quilting to do on a long arm machine, which I hope I'll be able to do at a quilt shop some time in the future. I'm basically a lazy quilter. I'm looking for the easiest, fastest way to get something done. I don't have the energy anymore for involved projects. But I hope if I can get a few tops done and also work on the binding, then maybe I'll start to enjoy the whole process more. Hope all of you are doing well and have a good day!

Today is overcast and not as smokey. Yesterday's T storms didn't happen, but we did have some rain.
I'm having problems with the logistics of getting help and avoiding possible covid 19 exposure. Hopefully, a case manager and hospice will have some better ideas this week.

Sue - I'm glad it's not as smoky for you and that you got some rain. I hope that you can figure out how to get some help and avoid exposure to the virus, good luck with talking to someone this week

Phyl- that is sad news about Doris....CJ said it so well, I pray that she is not in pain and is being kept comfortable. My condolences on this discouraging news about your friend. You have a kind heart to care so deeply for her...
CJ- my church quilting buddy takes on more challenging ways to quilt a simple top than I do- and its ok. Final quilting (at least doing a fmq pattern) just seems not to be your favorite part of the process. You make some amazing and beautiful quilt tops, the fmq part is only one small part. Love the way you refer to your next quilt top as a victim! Very funny.... I just found a recipe for an apple cake donut that I might give a try. It sounded really good. I did make an apple crisp yesterday for my friends. So much easier than a pie for sure. Do you have plans to make the applesauce cake anytime soon??
Sue- well rain is good and probably helped with the fires. Do they have them contained now? Will it be possible to go to the cabin soon to evaluate the property? Think the idea of a case manager sounds really good and he/she should be able to provide the best guidance on how to keep you and Dh safe from covid.
I have watched a video on how to quilt a panel quilt....I really liked the videographers no nonsense approach and good explanation. Have to finish the video- but he gave me some good ideas. Guess I have to practice a bit also.
Gonna crochet a bit and watch some foot ball G
