I forgot that today is Monday so for a brief second I wondered what happened that there are no posts but the intro.
Well I got all my phone calling done for the day. I hate that. It makes me very anxious but now it's done. One thing I had to call about was the pharmacy sending dh's meds by delivery instead of by mail and was charged $7.99 for something I did not ask for.
I did work on the pocket shawls on the weekend but didn't get them done because the pockets I want to use seem to be missing. I also worked on the baby blanket...the newer one that is in Ginny's stitch and got out the pieced for the teddy bear applique. I have just the snout which I have to embroider the nose and mouth on...not hard ... to do and the edging for the head which has the ears done along with edging it so it's not hard I'm just a procrastinator.
Otherwise it's a beautiful fake spring day. It's up to 60 already. It's a little windy though

Fake spring day cause you are still in for plenty of winter, Ruth? Sorry you are unable to locate the pockets- you do work on so many different projects that I can imagine its hard to keep track of what you are working on. I am sure they will show up- you did just find that knitted baby afghan for DGD (now 13) so we know you were moving a lot of projects around. Hope the pockets show up soon. Sounds like that little bear applique is coming along well. Think we all can be procrastinators at times. It just happens. How is the baby afghan coming along?
My crafting was looking at some fabric that Jane saw online and she wanted me to see. I babysat today, and have Bible study tonight. So its a long day for sure....we have fake spring here too. A few days of warm...then I think it gets a little bit colder. Probably won’t be back later this evening....have a good night all GInny

Yes we never have a March that is this warm and stays this way. However I did check the advance forecasts and on there they claim that beside this Wed we will have all days above40 for the rest ofthe month. I'll believe it when I see it. This wed high will be only 37. Today was over 60.
I'm about 1/3 the way through the baby blanket. I have so many of them I want to do including that knit one. I'm actually hoping to make one for each of my grandchildren besides those that already have babies so that makes 10 more for blankets for those others to put away for the future.
I thought all my phone business was done for the day but had to make two more phone calls. The second one was to a new credit card company for which I set up an online account. I forgot the password. There are two ways to receive a code that you need to change your password. Both with phone numbers. I provided both my phone numbers but they said there was a problem so I called. After at least 45 minutes I still got nowhere so have given up on having an online accuont for that one. It's so frustrating.
Hopefully the evening will be relaxing with my crochet.I searched everywhere for those pockets but, as you say Ginny, they will show up sometime

I feel for you Ruth. That system of resetting passwords can be so cumbersome. In conjunction with a web site that is not allowing you to do what you want and LONG waits on a customer service phone line (where English might not be the first language of the call center) and its a disaster. I do not blame you for giving up I wonder if there is a customer service contact email form that you could complete and get your help that way. Just a thought and usually you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the web page to find in tiny print “contact us”. You sound like my DSIL, who made sure she made extra baby afghans for great nieces and nephews yet to be born, knowing that she might not be able to crochet for them at birth. Ten more blankets will keep you busy and also use up a lot of yarn!!!! Hope you can use what is in your stash!!!
Babysitting again today- and its going ok for now. Getting up was not as impossible this am as I thought it would be. Hope I can sneak in some crocheting- perhaps while dinner is in the oven. G

I received an email today saying that my order is on the way and will be here tomorrow. It was for a $6000 tv and a $4000 gaming system. Of coure i did not order this. It was a phishing scam I guess but what do people getout of doing this I wonder. I did contact Amazon and they confirmed that I was not charged for anything. I guess people don't have anything else to do.
Yes the website for my credit card differs from other places where you need to change your password. On everything else they send an email with a code but this one you have to provide your phone number so they can send either a voice code or test. No email options were available and the contact us feature just leads me to their phone number or online help which was no help at all.
I did get in some crocheting on the blanket last evening and have passed the halfway point of the main part of the blanket. I saw a nice video for an edging I might put on it. Today I'm going to make some bread...rye or pumpernicle. Gotta look up recipes for the latter
Ginny, I hope all goes well with babysitting and that you can get in some crocheting today.
CJ I hope that you, too, can get in things you like to do.
a book I had on hold became available so I hope to get in some reading too today

Also after having a day yesterday with temps to 70 this evening we have a winter storm warning that will last until tomorrow evening. They claim that there may be 6-9 inches of snow in this country. That shows up in the storm alert but not on the regular page of the weather site. I really doubt we'll get that much. Temp will go down to 19 in the night so it may snow a little

Ok, this is insanity. I used to be able to walk away from this site for a minute and not lose my post. Let’s try again, and I will finish posting.
Ruth, glad you have reached the 50 yard line of the baby afghan. It does become long to work on about half way through....I am curious to see what new border you end up putting on it. As you know I had to make the loops on the border they call for smaller, so that little fingers would not have trouble with it. That credit card sounds frustrating....I tend to stick with the same ones, keeps my life sane. glad you have straightened out the amazon problem. I might be tempted to change the password for your amazon account- I did that when I had a similar issue with them.I frequently marvel at your weather and temperature swings. You get awfully hot temps in the summer, but can have a 40 degree drop at night. And I know that winter ends later there than it does here. Guess for me the Atlantic Ocean is moderating my temps.
My 2 long days of babysitting for this week are done. The kids were really good for me, and the baby is really trusting me now. (The 3 year old and I have been “buddies” for quite some time now). It was nice being able to take them outside, which helped the day pass more quickly. I had wanted to go to Walmart afterward but Dd got home late. For about a half hour of babysitting I was able to crochet, which was nice. I called the long armer today and her machine needs to be worked on and she is having a really tough time finding someone who will work on it. So its Missouri, or me buying some pantograph paper (meant for long arm machines) and sew a design on the baby quilt using that. Will call the company tomorrow and see if that is possible. So I did spend some time online this afternoon checking out pantograph paper and quilting designs.
In my jammies already and looking forward to a nice quiet evening. I am training tomorrow, but do not have to go in until 9 am. it will be so nice to have a slower start to my morning for sure.
Have a great night all Ginny

Hello Ruth - Sorry to hear your received that spam/phising email. I received one awhile back about someone hacking my Amazon account. I was pretty sure it was trying to get my information, so I didn't respond and just changed my Amazon password. It's really terrible there are so many people out there trying to take advantage of others. Those are some wild temperature swings. Hope you enjoyed the warmer day and that you don't get much snow. Ginny - I'm glad your grandchildren are enjoying being with you and that you have the rest of the week off from babysitting, hope the training goes well tomorrow. Sorry to hear about the longarm lady not being able to quilt your baby quilt. I hope you can find a way to do it yourself or to send it out. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. The weather here has been nice, sunny days and mild. I caught up with my daily quilt blocks this morning, since I didn't get the one done yesterday. I think the blues, green, yellow and white fabric is going together well. I also made my blocks for the Mini-Mondays Sew Along I'm doing. The block pattern only comes out once a month. I don't think I'll have enough of my fabric to make it through the year, but I guess I'll just keep making the blocks each month until I run out. Take care everyone!

Ginny, I'm glad that you had a good day babysitting and were able to get in a little crocheting. Sorry you weren't able to get to Walmart as you had planned and that the long arm lady can't quilt your baby quilt. I bet you will be able to do a terrific job if you do it yourself. It's also great that you don't have to go in to work until 9am.Hopefully you'll get some good sleep.
CJ, well It sounds like you would be able to stop when you run out of fabric and make what you have already made into a nice quilt top. you do such beautiful work
Well we had an interesting evening. At 7 I put sausages that dh wanted to eat into a pan and the elecrtic immediately went out. It was only out for a few seconds and came back on only to repeat that 3 times untill it went out completely. Our house is all electric. We went outside to see if any neighbors had lights and they didn't. Then I saw what I thought was lights and told dh. He looked and said no it's a fire. It definitely was and looked like it was at the highway which is only a half mile from our house. the wind was blasting so we thought they wouldn't be able to get it out. Luckily for us the wind was blowing in a direction away from our house but you never know when it will change. Dh theorized that someone may have hit a pole that had a transformer on it and that started the fire and thought we might not have power for several days. Well about 8:30 the electricity came back on. I definitely sent prayer of thanks for our and our neighbors' safety and for the electricity. Luckily too we had flashlights all over the house. We also had the keys to both vehicles in my pockets and my purse and were ready to go grab our "bugout bags".While we were outside it started to snow and was really cold. Went from high 50's earlier down to about 30. It doesn't seem to be snowing very hard so we probably won't get the 6-9" they said in the alert we might get.
I did get in some crocheting before all that happened and maybe will get some more done yet tonight

Good morning!
Ruth, that is quite some story about your power loss. It would have been a cold evening for you if your power had not been restored rather quickly. I know you have a wood burner., but they are a lot of work to keep running through the night as a constant heat source. Smart that you have flash lights well distributed in your home, always a good idea no matter what time of year. At least you did not lose power for too long. Would you have gone to DD’s for a safe place to stay?? Hope that after it is all said and done you had a pleasant evening and got some crocheting done.
CJ- that is good news that you caught up with your daily quilt block!! Do you function well with that kind of deadline? Its nice to have some pressure to get things done, but in the same ilk can seem overwhelming. Bet this will be a very pretty quilt with your fabric additions and color scheme. Its still pretty early in the year, can you work another fabric into the Mini Mondays sew along so you can make it all the way through the year with it? Or order or locate similar fabrics? Think after I sign off I will see if I can find the pattern- just to see what you are working on. Sounds like fun and a neat challenge. At one Mini quilt a week, it gives you time to complete each block. Enjoy the mild weather! Think the blues, greens and yellows of your daily block quilt are perfect for this early spring weather. So cheery.
Nice not to have to rush out of the house this am. I have a load of laundry in the wash, and will hang that out on the line. I did go online last night (CJ, you know me well) and check out some patterns to free motion this quilt myself. So I have to sit down at the machine and see if that will work. Ends up a paw pattern might be pretty easy to copy and do myself, or I found a nice cloud pattern that I will probably be able to copy. Gonna hang out my laundry and make my lasagna for dinner. I have a dentist appointment late in the day, so I want to get my cooking done this am.
Phyl- hope you are feeling well and are able to get some machine time in.
Sue- hope you and Dh are doing ok and enjoying the beginning of spring and migrational birds. BBL Ginny

Hello Ruth - That is scary about the fire, I'm glad that you and your neighbors are safe. Sorry to hear about losing power, that's something I always worry about too since my house is all electric. I have flashlights all over my house! Ginny - I'm glad you had an unrushed morning and hope the dental appointment went well. If you are interested in the Mini-Monday's quilt blocks, here are a few links. It started in January and she gives the pattern for each new quilt block on the second Monday of the month. So there are only 3 blocks so far and it would be easy to catch up. She uses all reproduction fabrics so that was what I was trying to do when I started but I only had some fat quarters. So I pulled some other fabrics and I make 2 blocks each month with the reproduction type fabric and 2 with the other fabric. If I run out of these, I'll just pull some other fabric and finish the blocks for the rest of the year. temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com/2021/03/mini-mondays_8.html - March temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com/2021/02/mini-mondays_8.html - February temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com/2021/01/mini-mondays_18.html - January Also, the block for Pat Sloan's March Hope quilt is a really easy block and I'd use it again for a quilt or a table runner or wall hanging. Here's a link to it: patsloan.typepad.com/files/pat-sloan-march-hope-block-a-day-3.pdf - Hopefully it's O.K. to attach the PDF, I was trying to find a page with the information, but when I click on it this comes up. I guess it's in the public domain I finished my daily block today and made some progress on the quilt I'm making from a 3 Yard Quilt pattern. This one is really easy and once I was able to decipher the cutting instructions , it's moving along quickly. I don't know if it's just me that has a problem with their instructions or not, but I wish they would write them more clearly and in detail rather than trying to put so much onto one page. Ruth - This quilt has a Snoopy fabric in it Hope everyone is enjoying the day and having nice weather I thought I could get to the older posts, but

Well we got the expected snow. I don't know how many inches but it looks like a lot and is very heavy and weighing the branches of trees and bushes down. Found out the fire was right where I thought it was and it was a blown out transformer that caused the fire. They got it fixed very fast and we're thankful for that because we rely on our electric heater. It was way too windy to use the wood burner.
Ginny, I'm sure it felt good to be able to relax and start your day by taking it easy getting read. Did you ever catch that mouse. On Sat evening when I walked into the bedroom and one ran across the room.Dh set traps and caught one right away so we though it was that mouse I saw. Nope, the next day there was another that was actually right beside the bed with us sitting right there on our laptops. Still haven't caught that one.
CJ,I love those mini Monday blocks. I think I could do those. I also like the Pat Sloan one and as I read the directions and did get those little corner blocks that you turn into triangles. And you do have a great memory to remember a couple weeks ago that I love Snoopy and again today. I know I'll love the block or blocks with that fbric.

Ruth, well catching one mouse is a good start.(Want to borrow a cat?). Hope that the second mouse is not difficult to catch. You and Dh were right about the transformer- they sure do make what appears to be a big fire. Hope that your neighbor plows the snow, so you and Dh do not have to worry about snow removal.
CJ- the mini Monday blocks are adorable. Thanks for posting the links to them! Which 3 yard pattern are you making a quilt from??
Visit with the dentist went well, got a nice walk in afterward. Have a good night all Ginny

Lovely foggy morning this morning. They say its supposed to get to 60 perhaps a little bit higher today. We shall see. I called DSIL in Florida last night.DBIL might need a cardiac cathaterization procedure, Will have to see how those plans go and if he goes through with the procedure. There’s a chance that I might end up going to visit with them and help if he needs the procedure. (DSIL is restricted a bit with emphysema)
