If you're worried about the new plan and want to keep with your current but don't have a local meeting to receive a hard copy of the plans; you can print them from the WW Website (as long as you are a member). Log in and then choose "My WW+" in the upper left corner (next to My Day). Once in there you can choose "How My WW+ Green/Blue/Purple Works" (there's a separate choice for each plan); from there choose "Your Guide To Green/Blue/Purple". You can print from there. Also on the Guide page, scroll down some for the zero point list and there's an option to print that as pdf as well. If you want the whole Guide Choose "My WW+" and then scroll and click the "Learn More" button. They'll be an option for "The Full My WW+ Guide" for download...also the Success Planner and a Printable Tracker. The points calculator is still in the online shop for $9.99. If you're a smartphone user though, itrackbites app is still the best option for the older plans. * Bumping because I want to make sure everyone saw this *

Connect is having an "Ask me anything" event right now.
ALL questions about the new program are being met with dead silence 😂🤣 they should probably change the name to "ask me anything except about the new program"
* Bwahahaha I guess after some scrambling behind the scenes they have decided "Stay tuned 😁" is a better response 😉

DebDoesWW, People are going to be upset. It's hard when you have something working for you and you don't know what is coming down the line. Also what info we get is usually platitudes plus every new program is the best ever! Sometimes I wonder who their testers are, and are any of them older folks? Just somewhat grumpy about change but realistically after all my years I should be able to figure something out and if you can really personalize your plan I can make it like Green. I also have the backup of calorie counting. Hope they've done a good job planning their roll-out and have good support documentation.

Yes, testers are from all age groups. Pre-Covid it would be from random meetings across the country. Now I know people were sent emails and invited to test it out. Trust me they used to make sure all age groups were represented, I'm sure that hasn't changed. ☺️ bbbearsmom, and don't forget "our greatest program yet is based on the latest and most up-to-date science!" 😂🤣

Every new program is “the easiest ever” or “the latest scientific findings”, even though every single new program is just a different spin on what we already know nutritionally. And their current focus on fiber for example, with the new plan, is nothing new. Their old Fat and Fiber Plan was just one of many plans that put the spin on fiber. If the new plan isn’t to my liking I have Pointsplus to fall back on. Plus I heard there’s a local weight loss support group opening up soon that supports all weight loss programs. Either way, we both win!

Until Beyond the Scale I always enjoyed when WW changed programs. Honestly, they usually were updating it to the latest scientific knowledge. When people get upset about WW changing programs I usually ask them if they really want to go back to the old days.
Before my time (I joined in 1988) when WW was young they some really bizarre things liking making ketchup and eating liver. When a friend encouraged me to join in 1988 I didn't want to because I had heard of the liver thing. But, she told me the program had....changed.
I joined when it was an exchange program which worked well for a world when food did not have nutritional labels. We needed something easy to record foods and that worked.
I loved that no foods were forbidden. But, most people now would think that program was terribly restrictive. You got something like 350 optional calories a week. So -- one piece of cake -- a week and nothing else like candy. I ate the little mini candies to spread it out. On my birthday week, I ate one piece of cake. Now, so much of pointed foods are foods that would have been optional calories back then.
It seemed luxurious when we got one exchange that you could "float" to any category. I always used it for bread. It could, not, however be used for fats. Fats were extremely limited.
Much of the programs people want to go back to now were the programs that used points. I liked many of them too.
But, they each reflected their times. Early on, it was fat and fiber. Fiber would reduce points, fat would pay a steep penalty. I remember when they changed a program mid year because people were putting fiber in everything and getting 0 point foods even with high calories.
In due course, WW realized -- due to scientific progress -- that fat wasn't quite so evil. They had demonized it so much, though, that they had to make GHG for "healthy" fats since so many were so used to trying to avoid fat.
Many of us like Points Plus best. I do. But, I remember when it came out and so many were upset with it. They loved Momentum.
When Beyond the Scale came out I defended it on my blog early on. Penalizing saturated fat and sugar made sense as did giving preference to protein. All points programs had penalized some foods and preferred others. I felt that Smart Points were better in that they penalized only saturated fat, not all fats. Likewise, they penalized sugar and not all carbs. Yes, they penalized natural sugar but I understood that. The reality was that US labels didn't show added sugar.
I still think the idea of SP was not bad. The problem was that they went so overboard in penalizing and preferring foods that calories and points became disconnected. I honestly thought they would fix it within a couple of years.
Then the Mindy years started and her solution seemed to be to disconnect Weight Watchers from weight loss entirely. If you are WW and concerned with "wellness" then it doesn't matter if your points aren't really related much to weight loss....
Anyway, I always look forward to a big program revamp like this (every 5 to 6 years usually) because that is when they really can reset stuff and update the science, etc. I am a bit more hesitant about it this year though since they did so badly for the last 6 years....

Kitty! I agree with a lot of what you said. Yes, the early food exchange plans ( WW called them Selection Plans) would be outdated. But many diabetics still follow food exchange plans. They have been modernized to include food labels. In fact, when I lost my pocket Pointsplus Guide, I bought from Amazon The American Diabetes Association Pocket Guide To Food Choices. It groups foods by category, and I honestly think it uncomplicated food counting for me. Because I tweak PP to suit me, I still use this little booklet.
Over on the wonderful countdown thread Mac started, there is mention of the WW patent now including color coded food lists to guide us in our food choices. This is used in the UK ( not WW, just general food guidance). This sounds like a combination of Personal Points and food exchanges. For the first time, I am now truly excited to see what WW has come up with! We’ll find out soon enough!

Oops! I am reading so much about the new plan, I think it was sassykitchen.com that gave more in depth discussion about color coding food. I’m sorry I can’t link on my tablet, but it was a very good article, discussing that part of the new food patent.
We are all in this together folks! Here’s hoping for an improved food plan!

Before my time (I joined in 1988) when WW was young they some really bizarre things liking making ketchup and eating liver. But, they each reflected their times. Jean Neidich started out with the diet plan from the NY City Department of Health, and gathered a group of friends to meet with to help each other stay on the plan. No foods with sugar were permitted - commercial ketchup is made with sugar. It was designed to be a well-rounded, low calorie, healthful diet for weight loss that met known nutritional needs at the time. Liver was (and is) a good source of iron. When I started WW in 1971, the plan was still based on that original diet plan. I didn't eat the liver and I used commercially made ketchup, and I still lost weight. I still think the idea of SP was not bad. The problem was that they went so overboard in penalizing and preferring foods that calories and points became disconnected. I very much agree with this.

Great find. that really does fit in nicely with what was in the 39 page pdf. So I think I have figured out the “personalized” part. I was putting together a picK up list from a local store (Kroger’s) and all of a sudden I was seeing healthfulness data ratings. 💡(Their version is called OptUp.) I googled a screenshot for you guys off the web. So the more digging I did I found more of these apps that basically all rate your choices and "nudge" you towards getting a higher score. Here is the actual link that explains it. www.kroger.com/health/pharmacy/optupAnyway, if any of you guys didn't fall asleep midway through the WW patent link this should all sound REALLY familiar. I think from the patents it's pretty clear they are going with ratings based on "healthfulness data", in other words they will be ranking foods. patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/c2/45/15/49d106142dc28f/US20210125700A1.pdfThe bottom of 31 is where it actually starts talking about the specific groups they break things down to and how they rank.

I am more skeptical that this will be occurring. I have mentioned this before when looking at WW patents. WW for years has been saying that same thing in its patents. This healthfulness stuff and color coded is not new. For example, look up this patent from 2013 that was actually filed in 2008: 8,382,482 Talks about ranking foods as to healthfulness and color coding. So, when they talk about this is the current patent they are referring back to stuff that has been in patents for many years! Now, is it possible that this year they would decide to rank foods using color coding? Sure. They obviously have worked on it for a very long time. So, it could be something that they have had in mind to do. And, this year, they could decide to do it. Literally every year, I've wondered if this is the year they will do that. And, every year, they have not done it. So, we'll see in less than month. I do think that some of the third party people hyping that possibility are not aware that this is not something new in the patents though. Lots of people put out posts or videos about the "new" program and they either haven't looked at prior patents or they just speculate based upon public stuff from the earnings calls.
