These weeks seem to be flying by, right?
CJ- the number of quilts you have made is absolutely incredible…I am glad to hear that you have them catalogued so you can keep track of what you have done. Yes I can see why it would make more sense to hand finish that octagonal quilt binding, the thought of turning a corner on a machine for less than a 90 degree angle does sound frustrating….I am sure you will do a great job finishing it. Congrats on getting the red work quilt done….what type of print is/are the fabrics for that?
Ruth- if anyone can make that quilt work with only one skein of aqua yarn its you. I am so sorry you found that you only had one skein of that…sounds like its a fast to make quilt, and then you can move onto another project. Weeds??? I have plenty of them here too. Its so frustrating keeping up with them. Hope that Dh is able to renew his license without any headaches….DMV can be so difficult to deal with at times.
Last night I finally inspired myself to take care of some legal issues-I have an appointment later on in the week to update my will. Not a fun thing to do, but important.

well today's outing was a total bust as far as the license office goes. We got there and the woman at the desk told dh that he could wait if he wanted but it would be a 2-3 hour wait!!!! Told him to come back Wed between 8 and 10 and very little waiting. What in the world!!! We've never had to wait more than maybe 15-20 minutes here before. That was a normal thing back in NY but not here. OUr driver's license office is a completely different location than renewing registration for vehicles so It's not like they have a lot of people. She didn't give a reason for the long wait.
Then dh got a message that his order had been delivered. It was the yarn he ordered for me from Walmart about 10 days ago. Well about 5 days ago they sent him a message saying they were crediting him for one of the skeins due to damage but the tracking across the country continued. As I said, today they said it was deliverd. There was no package. I searched the whole yard. Well dh looked at his credit card and they had refunded for both so what in the world was delivered. Don't they have to scan the package to have the "delivered" message sent.
And the afgan. I made some kind of weird mistake last night and couldn't figure out what happened but I think that when I cut my yarn because of tangles that I must have started back the wrong way on the row but I can't even explain clearly what happened. I finally ripped out all that row and will try again sometime today. If I didn't make stupid mistakes like that I'd have a lot more done. So I probably won't have this done until the end of the week after all esp since we have to go out another day and 8-10am!! That's like the middle of the night to me.

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad you made the appointment to update your will, you'll be relieved when you have that done. The redwork piece is an embroidery (done in red thread) on a muslin background. Then it is bordered with a red and white fabric. I was fortunate to find the same red fabric to use the binding. I was surprised I still had that fabric, I had to have done this embroidery about 15 years ago! Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about all the frustrations today. You have to wonder what was going on that they had such a long wait - maybe they are understaffed? That package delivery is a mystery too! I hope things go better for you when you go out again this week. I agree with you about going out early in the morning. I have to make myself do that to avoid people and traffic. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's a sunny warm day here, this week is supposed to be in the 90s all week. I didn't get to work on any bindings today so far, but I did bring 2 of the hand finish ones downstairs so I may work on one of them this evening if I'm in the mood. My cell phone made a notification noise this morning around 4:30 or so, which woke me up and then I had trouble getting back to sleep. When I checked the phone it was nothing important. I wish they wouldn't send out those things overnight. I do like when I get notifications of severe weather, but otherwise I'd be glad not to get any other things - like videos I might like, new apps available, etc. But I guess you have to take the good with the bad Take care everyone!

CJ- you would think that there was a way to limit the alerts that you get on a phone….weather alerts should be 24/7 but new apps and videos?? Gee they can wait for sure. So sorry you were jarred awake so early- what time is a normal wake up time for you? (For me its 5:30- 6:30). Thanks for the explanation of the redwork piece, which sounds awfully pretty. Red is one of the most difficult colors to “match” so you are very lucky that you had a red that works as a binding. Like you, I am in for a hot week- at least 3 full days of 90 degree weather. Yuck. Not a fun thing at all and I hope you can stay comfortable.
Ruth- I too remember the days in which lines at NYSDMV felt longer than the gestational time of an elephant….they have improved a little bit with better organization. You probably hit bad lines today because it is Monday- I think Mondays and Fridays are notoriously the worst days to try to do anything at DMV. that must have been so very frustrating for you and Dh….hope it all goes quickly and easily for you on Wednesday. That sure is a strange message from Walmart about the yarn order. Just make sure that the credit really went through so that you are not charged for yarn not recieved. What a shame that you will have to take out a lot of crocheting- so very frustrating!!!! Hope that it is easy to get back on track and get that pretty afghan done.
Well, wasted a lot of time this afternoon straightening out all the paperwork for my trip to the lawyer. (What a pain). I have only a bit more to do and some printing out/copying of documents. But its all coming together.
See ya tomorrow!!! Phyl and Sue, you are missed!!!

Hello Everyone Ginny - What a treat to go see quilts at the fair, I bet they were beautiful Hope you were able to get all your paperwork ready for your legal appointment. Hope you are staying cool, looks like our heat is here! I like to get up between 8-9 AM, since I'm a night owl and usually stay up till midnight-1:00 A.M. I have to make myself get up early for grocery shopping Ruth, Sue and Phyl - Hope you are all well and getting to do some crafting I went out this morning for an appointment and when I got back home it was still mid-morning so I decided to work on finishing the bindings on the quilts I had left and I finished attaching all of them. I just have 3 of the hand quilted pieces to finish the binding by hand. I started on the Redwork one, so I hope to finish it soon. I did finish the octagon table runner. I wasn't as happy with my work on some of these quilts, and it's left me a bit disappointed. But I'm glad to be finished with them. The 7 quilts left that I thought I would machine quilt, I'm not so sure about now. Maybe sometime in the next week I'll post pictures of those tops and see what you all think about only straight line quilting them. Some may look prettier done on a longarm. I can tell doing so many of the same thing at once burns me out, but on the other hand it has me in that mode and it's easier to do a lot of the same thing instead of lots of different things - if you know what I mean I'll post some pictures of my finished quilts in a post below. Take care everyone!

Here are a few pictures Octagon Table Runner - from a pattern I bought at a quilt shop a few years ago: Lemoyne Star Table Runner: My old Log Cabin quilt - made sometime before 2000. I know I would choose different fabric values if I was making this now, I just loved the border fabric: FaLaLa Christmas Table Topper, from a quilt along last year. The center blocks were supposed to be embroidery and I think it looks plain. I was thinking adding some Christmas buttons to the center blocks might make it prettier: Oh My Stars quilt (Pat Sloan pattern), made with Ovarian Cancer fabrics. I didn't realize they were cancer fabrics when I bought them many years ago: This quilt was made using a fabric charm pack by Patrick Loos. I just loved all the colors, but then couldn't figure out a border and ended up with the with the black and white:

Don't fall over ,I AM HERE.
HI CRAFTERS, I think I getting, some what better with this bloating thing. I feel better today,so far not getting me down.
had a visit with my nutritionist yesterday.I am now following the FODMAP food plan this will not be easy.I have menus and list of foods that will be cut out for a month. I can eat some stuff that is gluten free.I lost 9 pounds without trying.
after a month I will be working in the other foods to see what bugs me. this is gonna be along month. I can still have bananas ,not ripe.surprising no watermelon.
NANCY said she thinks what I have is called (gas) big word I don't know how to spell, meaning my gut is not pushing the food down fast enough to empty out. so also consapation, and is a diabetic condition. oh joy.
I we did not go to HAYWARD, with our friends.I told Nita Sunday night To just go,felt like I was holding them back.they would have gone anyway.
woke up Monday,I knew I could not travel.
hee hee it would have been more then 2 hours riding. they stopped at a green house ,fireside subs (that is what I missed yesterday) so probably was more like 4 hours getting there..,.
believe it or not I was down stairs cutting out 30 2 inch squares.need 36. I am trying not to have a repeat ,want each one different. might have to buy some fat eights.
cj you did pretty good on the octagon mat.can you find quilt binding by NANCY ZIEMAN ON YOUTUBE.She did a show on bindings. think it was a 3 part series of quilting techinues.phyl

CJ, beauty overload..not really because you can never have too much beauty. They are all just wonderful and I do like the straight line quilting on them. Sometimes, to me anyway, the fancy quilting is just too much. My two favorites are the octagon fall fabric one and the Oh My Stars...I love those blues. The binding on the octagon looks amazing.I do know what you mean about getting into a mode and that it might get boring but it would keep me, too, on track. Already I'm thinking of other things to make whilce trying to finish this afgan. I get sidetracked and that's why I have so many unfinished things. So you're smart to recognize what works best for you and gives you that feeling of accomplishment
Cooked a couple things today. I did the veggie washing and chopping and dh did the cooking and seasoning.
Ginny, what a great thing to be able to see all those quilts at the fair. If this pandemic is ever over and stops peaking because of variants, I want to go to the fall quilt show at our fairgrounds...they already had the fair for this year. They didn't have one last year.
Local infectious disease specialist is talking about all the new cases of Delta variant here. For such a small place we have a lot of ppl hospitalized. None have died.

Phyl, we must have been typing at the same time. The condition you mentioned is gastroparesis....basically it's a paralysis of the stomach so that it doesn't empty as fast as it should. The can do a gastric motility test to make sure you have that and there's meds that will help it. The test is not invasive and is not painful. You just eat something they give you that has a substance in it that will show on the overhead scanner as the food moves along. Usually they give it to you in a sandwich and you just lie there and can even take a nap while the food is doing it's thing and moving or not moving as it should. If you've a bone scan for osteoporosis it's much like that. My dh has gastroparesis and had it even before he had diabetes but it's a common thing in people with diabetes. They think my dd may have it too and she's not even diabetic but she used to drink heavily and it can be a complication of drinking.

Still getting paperwork together for my trip to the lawyer…..oh what fun.
CJ- wow! Love the octagonal table runner and the fabric cafe quilt- so very pretty!! You did a great job on the octagonal binding.
Phyl- glad to see you!! Hope you are able to get used to that FODMAP diet and that it helps. good to hear that you are feeling a bit better.
Ruth-that is what I have heard about Delta variant….it makes folks sick and is easily transmitted but not many pass from it. You and DH are super cautious and go out infrequently….hope that the rest of your family stays safe and disease free.
Maybe tomorrow I can post some of the pictures I took of quilts at the fair. Really lovely and so nice to look at. Yup we are in for hotter weather and its pretty miserable out there now. Better weather on Saturday.
See ya tomorrow Ginny

Well wedid get up early and go to the license renewal place. Here they don't call it DMV,they call it port of entry...whatever that is supposed to mean. It was senior hours so only old folks. Masks were required even though usually they say masks are recommended not required. Again I have to say that a blind person could pass the vision screening here. Then we went to a grocery store that moved over to that side of town and were home again just after 10. So now I guess I could do some cleaning and then back to crocheting.
Have a great day and if you go out, be safe
