Well the above is not my best quilting….and is missing the binding, but is the quilt I made for my cat. She sits on it a lot and watches the birds….so I guess I did a good job in her eyes!
CJ- the redwork piece is even prettier than I thought it would be and you did a great job on the hand quilting!!! I love it.

CJ, that Redwork quilt is really great. You did all that embroidery too, right? It's fantastic. I reminds me of one my mother had when I was young. She used it as a baby blanket for my brother #4 who died when he was six months old. She had it in her cedar chest for years and years. The chest was left in her home which brother #2 "bought" from her and then some how brother #3 got it. I asked them about the chest a couple years ago. They don't seem to know what happened to the contents but I would have loved to have that quilt mostly because it was used by my baby brother and also because it was beautiful. I don't know who made it. My mother never did needlework of any kind. They also claim that the chest fell apart and was disposed of. I don't really see how that could have happened.Strangely I have the receipt for it from when my father bought it for my mother.
Our gas here used to be the lowest cost in the entire country but now after our governors hiked the tax on it it no longer is even close to being the lowest.
Ginny, that's a wonderful quilt.I'm glad kitty likes it. People looking at the quilt would think to themselves well if that's not your best work your better work must be magnificent..well they'd be right but this one is too.I'd be really happy if I could do one even 1/16th as good as that.

Both cats seem to like the quilt or more that they have a nice cushy place to sit while they watch the birds out of the window. And thanks for the vote of confidence Ruth, but its a simple quilt….and still needs a binding. And it was all fabric I had here. Simply amazing what a bad politician can do - so sorry about your gas rates.

Speaking of gas prices, I ran some errands early this am and was shocked to see that the price per gallon is now $3.35. I am in shock…..

CJ, I love the red work!
I do have the yarn. I actually bought a kit from Mary Maxim. It was a real bargain when it was on sale. I still haven’t found the hook, but I haven’t looked in the most likely place.
I’m going to need to think about replacing my Montana style air conditioning before next summer. You know, the kind where you open the windows in the evening and close them in the morning.
I will start going to PT next week. I saw the pain management doctor , and he thinks I need some more moving around and conditioning. He is correct! New place. My favorite therapist is working in another town. I’m going to a new facility which is the closest to me. I stopped by yesterday, and I’m really impressed. Easy parking, looks very well run. By now it’s probably five years old! Still new to me.
My creative efforts last night were trimming two of the dogs and cutting their toe nails. CeeCee ran away and hid downstairs with hb.

Hello Everyone Thanks everyone for your kind words on my Redwork piece Ginny - Your kitty quilt is really pretty. I love the fabrics, and that's a great pattern to show them off. I'm glad they are enjoying using it Ruth - I'm sorry you didn't get to have that embroidery and cedar chest of your mother's. I'm sure you would have taken care of it. It's sad sometimes that we don't know the personal value of family items until we are older and they are gone I did do them embroidery on that piece. It was a class I took at a quilt shop. We traced the pattern and embroidered it and then we added the borders and started the hand quilting before the class ended. I just never finished the hand quilting until now. Sue - I'm glad you have PT scheduled and at a newer facility closer to you, I hope it will help you. I also hope you can get some kind of air conditioner by next year. I have a portable one that I attached into the window each day and take out and cut off in the evenings. It does help provide some cooling in the area where I don't have a working AC. Phyl - Hope you are feeling well. It's another really hot day here in the high 90s with heat indexes higher. I think this weekend and next week it will drop back into the 80s - a cold front I've started another old hand quilting project. This one was a sampler from a class I took on how to make quilts by hand. We made templates and cut all the pieces of fabric by hand and then pieced them by hand. No rotary cutter or sewing machine was used. I'd started the hand quilting years ago and want to finish that this year. There are 6 blocks in the piece and they are all sashed and then there are borders. So I'm working on a block at a time. I have 2 blocks finished so far. I also cut the pieces for the Mini Sewing Bee monthly blocks and they are ready to assemble. This one was very tough to do, since there were small pieces to join together. It's a pretty block, but I can't imagine making more than the 4 of them I had to make. Here's a link to see what they look like, a pretty sawtooth star: temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com/2021/08/tqc-journal-summer-2021-issue-no-10.htmlTake care everyone!

Ginny's making a blanket from a Mary Maxin quilt too, Sue. They have beautiful kits. I'm going to have to pay attention and see when they have kits on sale. Yes I like the Montana air conditioning. It's much like the Wyoming a/c I think I need conditioning also and was going to ask my doctor about it but I don't want to go to PT right now anyway plus don't want to actually see the doctor either. CJ, I love those blocks on the site. My favorites are the ones on the right...the one with the greens and the one with the browns. Only thing is the one with browns looks kind of out of place because the other three all have a while at the edge even though they have different designs in the white. I'm sure there's a plan to make the whole thing come together so that it doesn't look out of place.

Sue, if you can swing it, replacing the Montana air conditioning system is such a blessing. There is nothing better than lovely open windows and fresh air, but sometimes its just too darned hot for that to be effective. Hope that the PT and the increased activity works out well for you !!
CJ- that sounds like a really cool class you took years ago, all about quilt making by hand…. Looking forward to when the other 4 blocks are completed! Surely a project that is really all your creation. Like you, I am waiting for the heat to break. Think its supposed to happen this weekend. That sawtooth block is adorable!!!! Think you need an extra amount of patience to make those mini blocks, but these are really so cute.
Yes, Ruth, I am making a Mary Maxim kit- which I find easy to use and very well thought out. Just got another catalog from them today, and will be sure to take a look at it this weekend. I like Montana air conditioning too….hope I can use the New York style in a week when we really have cooler temps.
Phyl- hope you had a good day.
I did a LOT of housework today…so I am tired. But I needed to get things under control and now I can relax over the weekend.

GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON, I did meet with DR.HENRY on Thursday, this guy is all business.HE did ask me how many years ago did I start to notice boating? who the the hell can remember that far back, course it was never bad.
he thinks part of the problem is bad constipation. HE said the med Amplodipine can cause constipation,so he is sending a note to my doctor to put me on a med
that causes less constipation.
I kept telling the med staff the pill is the only thing that changed.
Also he had me get a bottle of magnesium citrate, this will clean the colon out.
I took the magic martini this am,it worked. I got The grape flavor ,BOY talk about drinking sour grapes ,this is it I can m.c.anytime I need it..also drink Miralax every day.
HE also listen to my heart and said it was racing. never felt a thing..
I am following the FODMAP food plan, working with my nutritionist.I DO feel better, still bloating, not as bad. phyl

NITA, had a great time time in The quilt shop in HAYWARD,they spent the most money on the motel and food.
they were going to go on a boat ride to the Apostle ISLANDS AROUND BAYFIELD WI. every time slot they wanted was filled..so they drove to MERRIT,WI calls it a toursit trap..think this is another island
I have Been busy going to JOANNS,got 3 different kinds of fabric for future project.not sure when I can even start it.it has to do with scotties dogs.needed the paw print fabrics.course they did not have the white background with blac k paws fabrics.
Cj the way they had you cut out templates and fabrics is the way our grandmothers did it. my other grandma would hosts quilting bees,I can remember the ladies cutting around car board shapes and sitting around the quilt frame hand stitching. I LIKE YOUR WORK. PHYL

PHyl, I was wondering about your diabetic med they started recently...was it Trulicity or Ozempic...I can'tremember but one of them slows the passage of food out of your stomach which I fail to see as a good thing in someone with diabetes since most people with diabetes also have gastroparesis. why make the stomach empying even slower. So that could cause constipation also. Did the gi doctor mention a gastric motility test? Did he mention scopes. I notice you didn't mention that he did. if he didn't I wouold say he's not a very good doctor. And telling you to take mag citrate whenever you need it is a very strange thing too. Miralax (they have a Walmart brand or Dulcolax brand of the exact thing cheaper) should work enough if you take the full dosage when you need something. I didn't know that mag citrate came in flavors. Ok now I will go mind my own business. I'm not a doctor

Just one more thing, if your heart was racing did he tell you to see your PCP about that?

Hello Everyone Ginny - Hope you get to rest after all that housework. I keep meaning to tell you that the new season of Chesapeake Shores starts tomorrow night on Hallmark Channel, in case you didn't see that. Also, you talked about joining a quilt along. There is one starting in September run by Jacquelynne Steves and it's only 4 blocks. This is like the FaLaLa ones from last year. She does have an option for a center square embroidery or you can buy one of her panels that has preprinted designs. I hope to do this one but I'll probably fussy cut a center square. Here's a link with info (you need to give her your email to sign up to receive the patterns): jacquelynnesteves.com/snowman-sew-along/ Phyl - I'm glad the doctor suggested some things to help you and that you are feeling a bit better. I enjoyed the hand piecing quilt class, it's very soothing to just work with my hands and not use machines. I do enjoy the conveniences we have as quilters that our past relatives didn't have. Ruth and Sue - Hope your weather is nice and getting cooler. I finished making the small sawtooth star blocks for the Mini Sewing Bee this morning. And I sorted through my aqua scraps and organized them (for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge). I also pulled the fabric to make my monthly rainbow scrap blocks and hope I can get them made today. Then I can work on the Pat Sloan Summer Soiree block tomorrow. I struggle with choosing the fabrics for those blocks and I'm concerned about running out of some of the fabrics I only had a yard of. Take care everyone!

CJ, you're going to start thinking I'm insincere because of me saying how much I love the quilts you show..both the ones you make and they ones that you provide links to but I am very sincere and this one you provided the link to is beautiful also. I can see how that pattern could be used to make little quilts in many other color combos with different middle panels both embroidered and ready made panels. I should actually try one like that. It doesn't look too hard. Ginny, I found something that you must make for your grandchildren. They would love it. And the babies would love it too esp the littlest one. I could hang above his crib or above him hanging from somthing as he lies on the floor looking up at it. Here's the link www.youtube.com/watch?v=5okkY_LwsAUYou could also make one to hang for your kitties...out of reach of course so that they didn't hang themselves from it with their claws. So you could put it outside on a tree so they could look at it when they get tired of dreaming about catching birds
