Good evening!
CJ - wow it does seem early to be working on air conditioning woes but you are right to do so now. It will not be long before you end your AC. Hope you were able to get the old unit out.
Meg- did you get a nap in? If not, I hope you sleep well tonight! It's a lot of work changing colors in an afghan a lot. Glad that you are getting to the end of the stitch afghan- which I am sure is o pretty.
Ruth- congrats on going down 2 sizes! Wow - what an accomplishment.
Busy day- had to take my car for servicing- and it's a bit of a drive to the dealership. Just finished getting ready to teach tomorrow. So, no crafting today, but I sure did think about stopping in Joanns, as I passed it twice today!
Good night...hope everyone has had a good day. Ginny

CJ, we must have been typing at the same time because I didn't see you there. I know you're finished quilt is just as pretty or maybe even prettier than the one showed on the tutorial. Yes not having younger men around to help is definitely a problem. We have quite a few things that need to be done but no help. There are people that advertise in our local paper that sells things called Quick Quarter but how do you know who's going to do a good job.My oldest grandson lives in town but he's so busy with working and his online business and his family that I don't want to ask him to help so we make do I haven't got much done on my blanket today. I think I did one row. I did get those clothes sorted and some more dug out of my closet where I had them stored so I did at least accomplish something.I need to go up and get the blanket now because I'm down in the cold weather room and didn't bring it with me. I have to get the cord for my laptop too in case I want to read later. Ginny, I hope the class goes well tomorrow. I'd bet that you're excellent at teaching. You just sound like you would be. Meg, I hope you got that nap in and will be able to relax and crochet this evening if you feel like doing that. What's your next project going to be?

Hello everyone, I know Ginny is teaching today and everyone else must be busy too. I hope you're all having a good day.I have some things to do around the house then I'll get back to working on this baby blanket.
Still cold but the snow here is all melted except for in the shady areas. I have to look up the weather forecast to see if they're still predicting all that snow on Fri and Sat.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I forgot to answer your question to me about what I do with my quilts. Since I've only completely finished 3 quilts, I haven't done anything with them. I have a bunch of quilt tops that I need to finish. Most of the quilt tops I've made were to showcase a fabric or a pattern. I don't really approach my quilts as making something that will be used by someone. I hope in the future to make more quilts that can be donated or given to family members to use. Ruth - Congratulations on being two sizes smaller. I kept several of my larger clothes that were nice and in good condition. I don't have any intention of every wearing them again, but I'll hold onto them for a few years, just to be safe. I wear a lot of my larger clothes around the house, they are comfortable and I don't have anyone who cares what I look like I've bought several tops from Blair, their clothes are very nice. I actually had time today to stop in a Dress Barn and a TJ Maxx. I didn't see any clothes that I would wear. I've looked in several dept stores and all the clothes are just not my style (traditional), so I guess I'll mostly be buying clothes online. It's kind of sad to me that I can finally buy clothes in a store since I've lost weight but I don't like any of the clothes I see. Ginny - Hope your training went well. I'm sure it felt good to get your car serviced. I'm always glad when I get that done. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. I had to go to the Dentist today. One of my crowns fell out when I was eating lunch on Monday, so they fit me in today and cemeted it back. I hope it holds this time, it's the same one that fell out in February. No time for any crafting for me today. Tomorrow I go to one of the two quilt shows this week, so I'm excited and looking forward to it. Take care everyone.

God evening!! Seems as though everyone is busy- the one good thing about that is it makes it easier for me, a tired person- to respond. CJ- so sorry that your crown fell out (frustrating, isn't it?!) but am glad it's been glued back in. Let's hope it sticks this time!! I am jealous....you are getting to another quilt show! Please tell us all about it- do you think you will be buying anything? Enjoy. Are you attending with your sister in law? Think we can all relate to the desire to buy basic clothes- good basic items that are timeless. Sometimes Walmart and Kohls has items that fall into that category, but Walmart quality can be shaky and Kohls is hit or miss. I never liked TJ Maxx....used to like Dress Barn but have not been in one for years. Hope that you have a great time tomorrow- and remember attending quilt shows does indeed count as crafting! Ruth- are they really predicting more snow for you this weekend? All ours is gone- it is almost May. Is this normal for you to get snow this late? Hey, you got one row done, which is more than I did! Glad you got to sorting some clothes too, it's Therapeutic getting organizational stuff done. It is indeed tough if you need an handy man or even just someone strong to move items. We are in that predicament emptying MIL's house- my BIL is not that strong so we need our DS or nephew to help move really heavy stuff. Hope Meg and Phyl are doing well.... Yes I did teach today. THink it went ok and then one of the 2 "students" drove my route with me this afternoon. (They had to take my class to be able to do that, state law). All in all it went ok, but I am tired. Got one more long day tomorrow, and then, thank you Lord, it will be Friday. BLessings to all.... Ginny

HI, I AM DOING GOOD.BEEN IN A FUNKY MOOD. CAME HOME FROM QUILT GUILD LAST NIGHT AND THERE ON THE LR WALL IS A CLOCK DON MADE. IT IS MADE OF WOOD. THE FACE IS ROUND WITH 12 NUMBERED WOOD BALLS ON THE OUTSIDE GOING AROUND IT. THE BALLS ARE NUMBERED AND THEY ARE HARD FOR ME TO SEE. PLUS HANDS ARE HARD TO SEE. I THINK IT IS UGLY. WOOD CLOCK ON BEIGE WALL BLENDS IN TO MUCH. PROBLEM IS HE NEVER ASKED ME OR TOLD ME. THINK THAT IS WHAT GOT ME UPSET. DON DID NOT USE A PATTERN. SAYS HE HAS A PATTERN BUT I WOULD NOT LIKE IT. DON DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM SEEING THE NUMBERS .I TOLD HIM MY EYES ARE DIFFERENT THEN YOURS.
SOMETHINGS YOU SEE BETTER WITH CATARACT SURGERY SOMETHINGS YOU DON'T. SO TODAY THE OLD CLOCK IS BACK UP. I TOLD HIM ONE TIME WHEN THIS ONE IS REPLACED IT WILL BE DIGITAL. SO THIS IS YOUR CHUCKLE FOR TODAY. I TRIED TO TAKE A PICURE OF ITHE LOCK .COULD NOT GET MY PHONE OR TABLET TO WORK RIGHT.
I THINK WHAT REALLY PUT ME IN A FUNKY MOOD IS THE WEATHER. RAINY AND COLD DAY. I AM SO READY FOR SHORTS AND TEE SHIRTS AND NO JACKETS. THIS HAS BEEN A RAINY COOL APRIL. NEVER KNOW FROM YEAR TO YEAR.
AT QUILT GUILD THEY LIKED THE BABY QUILT I MADE FOR GIVING FORM THE HEART. THEY ALSO LIKE MY OATMEAL CRAISEN COOKIES.
WE MIGHT WAKE UP TO A LITTLE ICE IN THE AM. LWC SAYS IT MIGHT BE A LITTLE SLIPPERY IN THE AM. MY PETUNIAS ARE IN THE GARAGE. PHYL

Cj, well if you decide to finish the quilts and give them to family or friends I hope they really appreciate them because you've put your heart into making them and I know they're beautiful from the fabric you have posted links to. Sorry about the crown. I'm not fond of dentists..who is...but sometimes it's a necessity.Sorry you didn't find any clothing you liked. Most stores now cater to very young people and those that think they're younger than they are so it's hard to get clothing that is suitable or that we like. I've never been to a Dress Barn but I saw that they opened one here. We used to go to TJMaxx back in Ny and got some nice things at a good price for the kids but I haven't been to one in years.I used to see nice clothing advertised at Kohl's years back but I'm not impressed at all with the one here.
For crafting so far today I looked thru a box of yarn that I forgot I left downstairs. But I will get to the crocheting later and do at least a couple rows.I'm kinda burnt out on crocheting right now so I think I'll just do those couple rows and a couple mindless hats to add to my donate pile then, at least my hats for the week will be done.
Ginny, I know you don't look forward to another long day, but, as you said, it will soon be Friday

Phyl, you must have come in while I was typing. Sorry about the clock. Your dh meant well. Men seem to have a different opinion that we do on what looks nice in the house.
I think it was Ginny who asked if snow at this time of year is normal here and yes it is. It's more the norm that they weather we've been having this spring up to now. Two years ago we had 12 inches of snow on Mother's day...or maybe 11..somewhere around there and now, even though Wonder weather changed to say less snow tomorrow than originally predicted, now they're back to saying 6-12 inches in places below 6000ft and at higher elevations, of course there will be more so we'll see what happens. Earlier today my dh and I were sitting in the dining room watching the deer and the antelope play and it suddently got overcast and snow started REALLY falling and I looked at the temp and it was 50!! Needless to say it lasted only about 20 seconds and all melted and then got nice and sunny again and up to almost 60. And as far as May goes, because the weather here is so unpredictable we can't plant anything outside until after the first of June.
And Ginny don't worry if you're too tired to post replies. YOu're the only one still working and we understand how hard it is to work and also try to keep a household going and then post here too.
Phyl, I don't wear shorts except in the house but it would be great to be able to wear short sleeve shirts and no coat outside. I'm glad they like your quilt and cookies. The cookies sound delicious

when we didn't have a dressbarn we would stop at one in Rochester mn. love it back then. then. they were more casual. now they say to be career-casual. can't prove it to me. delona even says they are for the career women. over the years I think they have gone more to the carrer women. I don't see anything I would buy in that store now. I did buy a couple of things several years ago.
use to love kohl's. their quality has gone down a lot in clothes and other stuff. I get their % off coupons and can't find anything to use them on.
I wish we had a bonworth here. my dsil got me hooked on them. I am not against ordering online. however for those of us who like to touch, feel and try on. online is ruining it for us shortys who like to try on with store closings. course other things enter into that also.
for those of us who live in winter states I cannot beilvie how thin some companies make their winter clothes and try to sell them at high prices.us cold state people like to be warm.
mm guess I got off on a soap box here. sorry.phyl

Phyl, I've never heard of Bonworth. I never have luck ordering clothing online. I'm short too and esp have short legs so I need to try everything on. Maybe about 10 months ago I tired ordering a dress and a skirt online. The skirt ended up being way to long and the dress way too short. On the dress I was wondering then, who wears this...if it's way too short on me I can't imagine it on someone that was normal height. I think their undies would show

morning, ruth try bonworth.com and play around with the site.they have misses, petites and larger sizes. they have a great customer service. they are genoures with their sizes. 4 years ago stupid fedex And post office lost a package I ordered and I called the cc company and bonwoth. boworth and I emailed back and forth on it.they were kind. that package never showed up to this day. hope whoever got it enjoyed it, 4 sweatshirts. fedex did a invstagation said the p.o delivered it but don't know where. now tell me with fedex and post office tracking how can they not know where it went? also bonworth is more greaed to our age. you won't find any of the skinny mini teenage or young skimpy adult type clothes. they do have a size chart. also if you are unsure the rep can help suggest a possible size. I don't order alot. go In spurts. they also have a page that tells what fabric I don't order lachute that might be to thin. their clothes are made of.
today I will be cleaning somewhere In the house. think it will be my playpen.

Good afternoon!!
Phyl, well Dh meant well with the clock- perhaps you can find another area for him to put it up there! I do understand though, how our hubbies can have very different taste than we do. Guess he likes to play with wood, as we like to play with yarn and fabric! So glad that guild liked your baby quilt and cookies! I am sure the quilt is lovely- always nice for your efforts to be appreciated. I have never heard of Bonworth- but then I am not that big a shopper anyway. There are many stores I am not familiar with.
Ruth- sometimes we all need to take a break from our project- hope you recharged so that you can return to crochetting when you are ready. I enjoyed your story about the snow and the deer and the antelope playing....how rural is it where you live? No snow for me- I hear Saturday it's supposed to be 80. Yuck. This former Jersey girl likes cooler weather- and fuzzy sweater weather is the best! I promise not to bellyache too much when the humidity and heat kicks in.
Busy am.....but I did sneak in getting my hair done. Lord willing the rest of this week will be easier. Hope everyone has a great day! Hi to Meg and CJ. Ginny

Phyl, in the past year I've received two packages that I didn't order. They were delived by mail. I tried and tried to find out where they came from and finally found the company that sent the first one but they didn't seem interested at all and said I did order it and gave me an order number but when I checked the order number it was for something that I did actually buy but not that item I received. The second was just one earring and was from China so I knew it was very cheap and one was missing because the package had a hole in it so I didn't bother with that one.
I think with FedEx and UPS giving packages to the US postal service that many get lost in transition. And yes, I agree, with all this tracking how could anything get lost?
I'll definitely check out Bonworth. It sounds like a company I might want to buy from.Thank you for the info.
Ginny, I don't like in a truly rural area although the whole state is pretty rural. I do live in a development but the lots are very large and houses not close. I live on the last house on the street so as I look out my floor to ceiling dining room window all I see is about three miles of open space that gradually increases in altitude until it reaches the top of the mountain that is behind us. There used to be a huge number of pronghorn antelope that were out there migrating back and forth and just hanging around. Now with increased building on the other side of town moving into their migration path and also people riding ATV's and walking dogs there aren't so many around anymore. We have mostly mule deer but in the last maybe 15 or so years there's been more white tail deer. There are also a lot of vultures, buzzards and occaisonal eagle, sometimes coyotes, and in a lot of places prairie dogs but the ones behind us all disappeared for some reason.. Of course we have the usual rabbits, and occaisional rattlesnake. WE used to have a flock of wild turkeys in the neighborhood but they, too disappeared.

I actually got quite a bit done on my blanket last night then found a mistake way back that HAD to be corrected so frogged a lot of rows. So when I was back to where I should be I worked on two rows over and over and finally decided that since I was obviously making the same mistake again and again that I would quit for the night. I ended up with about five rows done for the day and I still have to find out why there keeps being an extra stitch from that point on. The white yarn is very fuzzy so it's hard to see where the mistake is when relying on feel to find the correct place but I'll work on it today because it keeps getting darker and darker and will be getting colder so I'll just sit and crochet although I do need to figure out what food to make for later.

Hello Ginny, Ruth, Phyl & cj
I kno I've been missing. Yesterday I had my eye treatments and was not able to see properly most of the day so I listened to an audio book. No crocheting but hopefully today I can have some time to work on my afghan. It is really quite large now and not as easy to work with.
Just had a hair cut this morning and it is really short but it will grow. Soon it will be time to pick Devin up from school. Tomorrow he will be 9 so he is very excited. His Mom has planned a party for him on Saturday.
cj, perhaps your A/C needs some freon. ( wrong spelling) and that would need to be checked by and A/C repair man. I know these things are expensive. I am going to look for a handy man my son can fix some things but he is not really a handy man. Usually a handyman is cheaper than calling a company that charges a lot. I have central heat & air and I have dealt with the same company for over 30 years. I have them come in the spring & fall to check my unit and prepare it for the new season.
Ruth, I don't really know how well the iron infusion has worked I still get tired but that is probably age. I order from Blair. I like their tops that are a cotton polyester blend. They wash and keep their shape and last a long time. Sometimes I have trouble ordering the correct size and have to return them. I just got an order yesterday for myself and DD. I haven't had time to try them on. Their clothes are a good quality most of the time. I am short and they carry some petite short length which I like. But I like to go to Penny's or Sears for my pants as I like to try them on.
