I’m hoping you are just so busy Sue that you haven’t had time to post—hoping all is well with SO approaching this big move!
Busy week and busy next two as well—reminds me of prior to covid times almost. My pieces are glazed and ready to fire but have to wait till Tuesday morning as my kiln buddy is out of town. A friend got out of hospital yesterday so I delivered meals for a week today to her and made her eat—she is a person who can just skip meals and she is very weak—needs some sustenance to recover from heart valve surgery.
DH wants to have BF’s over tomorrow night and wants to provide dinner—I want to order out—hard to resolve when this happens and he says he’ll cook—but his cooking involves me always. Yuk! I just want to sit back and not work. Am venting here—yesterday I walked, did Zumba and weights at the gym, did six loads of laundry, glazed two difficult pieces, folded all the laundry and put all but his clothes away. Cooked dinner, and finished my active day at 9:00 pm other than folding sheets which I did while watching a tv program for half an hour—then went to bed. DH does a little task and watches tv or YouTube, gets the mail, pets the cat, and did the walk with me—somehow the work schedule for women is so incrdedibly lop sided! Ok, done griping! I’d rather have my life but it bugs me when he then wants dinner for guests and doesn’t see that just a break would be nice.

Hi!
Been meaning to post on here! We're fine, SO is almost fully recovered from the surgery.
Well we are still in Philly, and it's looking more and more like the move will take place at earliest in April. We have to decide whether we want to wait until everything is fully complete or move in when we get the certificate of occupancy. If we wait it could take until the summer! The house is missing all the shelving for SO's library and the architect is not very specific about what his timing is. At this point I don't trust his sense of scheduling (since he's been wrong every time) and I prefer to wait until everything is done before closing.
Holly, it seems that you and SO have a good time together with your mutual interest in music! Fun to have that in common. You are listening to music of my youth!
Joan, glad that you are enjoying the trailer, probably more than you thought you would. As always you are so busy with your pottery.
Every time we have people over it's on me to deal with the food. There have been many times before when SO would insist on me cooking, and especially my typical multi course meals. I do all the planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning! Not fair but it's been that way from the beginning when I was probably too much of a control freak and wanted to do it all.
These days, though, we're ordering out all the time when people come over. Or we go out to dinner.
Not much activity on selling our house. There has been as many as 5 units (out of 30) in our condo for sale the past year. Right now including us there are 2, one next to us just sold but we don't know yet if they lowered the price.
We are still not socializing very much, aside from when we had people over when we got married, we had the girlfriend of SO's brother (who passed away last year) visit us. She came on his brother's birthday and we spent the day together, had lunch and then went out to dinner.
It is so scary what is going on in Ukraine. I really think Putin is crazy.

Good to hear from you, Sue! I’m glad SO is doing fine!
We compromised—DH had promised Erica, Jordan’s girlfriend (again) that he’d go car shopping with her again—she was hit by a non-insured driver who ran the red light and her car was totaled—a little Chevy Spark—and had only had it three months. DH was insisting that I go shopping too as he gets frustrated with hearing in so many situations—he knows I absolutely abhor car shopping. So I went reluctantly and we will order Greek food in tonight! Yes, Sue, I totally understand that part of my doing is my fault—I, too, like some control, but as DH is aging along with me, I see a complete difference in the amount of activity in a day that we two experience. Since I pile a lot on my self I feel frustrated when he adds to the pile. LOL. However, he is heads and tails better than most men—he will grab the vacuum and run it before they come tonight and I won’t have to ask. Little things like that. But occasionally, one needs to vent!
it’s very windy today—bummer as I cannot walk in wind or I get asthma going!

Joan, I totally agree that I seem to have more on my plate than SO does. Things will change though when we move because he will be in charge of all the outdoor "stuff". All these years of condo living with no outdoor maintenance and even having our own trash chute to throw our trash down instead of taking it out on a curb will lead to shock to his system when we move, haha.
Just realized I'm still saying "SO", don't think I can change that habit.

Oh, geez, I did that too!! LOL
I picked up my new glasses==had a single vision pair made for easy working close up with my clay—trying them out for reading==it’s so comfy to have a whole lens to see through when reading! I was holding my head up at an uncomfortable angle when painting on my clay or doing close up work on it—figured this would be an easy solution. I also had all the non glare stuff removed from my new lenses for my regular glasses—oh my gosh what an improvement—I hate the way the non glare glasses get dirty constantly—the difference without it is amazing!
Yesterday I hand built a really large bowl—would probably make a salad for about 15 or so—I love it—it’s rather organic looking—I left finger print presses on it instead of smoothing it all away—built it with irregular cut strips, too—totally different look for my work. It really looks pretty cool! It must weigh 7 #—but of course, with drying it will lighten up—still it is quite large so has a lot of clay. I am trying to move to a more primitive hand build and yet have quality builds—won’t give up the other—cannot decide what I like best as I just love all kinds of pottery!
playing cards tonight—did make a dessert. Italian Pear Almond torte. Haven’t made this recipe in 2 years at least. Also made bread today.
Our celebration for our Betty who is leaving us is coming together—the Mayor is proclaiming it Betty Evans Day so that’s cool—I wrote up a request for that and was so happy it was granted.

Hi All,
It is so weird because the Ukraine war has pretty much erased any talk about COVID. Seems like it is one major crisis after another.
I just did the first day of the Couch to 5k program. My muscles feel like they just woke up from a 10 year hibernation. I guess the walking and climbing stairs that I do at work weren’t much help.
Sue is SO going to do any gardening? I enjoyed not having to do any weeding over the winter, but they are back in earnest now.
Relationships are hard work! The BF and I are both loners, so it has been tough figuring out how to maintain that while also doing things as a pair. He basically just eats all frozen dinners or takeout.

Oh dear—Holly, growing all the healthy veggies—can that not tempt him to healthy food?
Covid is on the rise in several countries==the b something variant is 12% of our cases now and that virus is showing up in sewer water tests across the country—I think we will be plagued by waves and waves of this forever! I heard Hong Kong is the worst scenario in the world right now—40% of people are not vaccinated.
This war is so horrible—what choices do we have—are we watching the start up of WWIII? How does our planet survive this time withPutin putting all nuclear forces on high alert. It’s so stressful and so horrible for the millions he has decided to plunder!
I leave in the morning for the NCECA clay conference in Sacramento this year—going alone as now BF’s kids decided to throw a surprise 75th party for BF—and we have to go—so coming back a day early and DH not going. He’s going to go camping with his trailer for a couple days and be back Friday. I fly home Saturday morning!. My flight was so expensive! But need to use up the Hawaii vouchers soon so guess that’s the way it will happen.
Sue a friend’s daughter is vacationing in Tucson and said she loves it—first time going—she says there are such good hiking trails.

Hi! Quick post. Our house is under contract. The buyer, a single woman late 50's, came last Thurs saw our house and one 2 floors above us. Really liked ours but ours is listed at much higher price (we have a lot of custom cabinetry and bigger kitchen than the other units). So our realtor talked us into a lower asking price (but still higher than the 10th floor unit) and the buyer put in a bid, we countered, and she accepted so it is almost the price we lowered it to. Inspection on Wed...lots of stuff going on! Try to post more next few days.

Wow, Sue, once you find the right buyer things happen fast! Congratulations! I know it is a little bittersweet as you loved it there but am sure you are also relieved.
I am back from the four days in Sacramento—have seen so much pottery—watched so many classes, bought a bunch of small tools, etc. so tired but have to go to the surprise party for BF in just a few minutes!

It's been busy. The last few weeks there's been a couple house showings per week and for each one we clean the house a bit and then of course we leave the house when they are here, so there has been a lot of disruptions into our daily schedule! I've also been out to dinner a couple of times, once with my high school friends, the "Sues". We went to the top of the Four Seasons hotel for dinner. I love the ambience there, so civilized, great for people watching too. We had fun, ordered a bunch of small plates to share and of course drinks. Another night SO and I took my 2 youngest nephews to dinner. The youngest was home for spring break so I wanted to see him once more before we move. I had a great time with them, love how "adult" they are getting. The other nephew had moved into the city a few blocks from me, so he's no longer living at my sister's. He had been saving the past 2 years (from not having to pay rent), and he's now living in an apt with 2 other guys. Holly, I remember the couch to 5k when I first started WW. It got me to start exercising and running. Hope you're doing well with that. I try really hard to get SO to eat better as well, I try to always have plenty of vegetables/fruits/protein for him to snack on, but he does have a sweet tooth and loves pastries and ice cream. I don't think SO can have a garden in the desert, and I'm not sure I want something that attracts wildlife! SO and I are also loners. We definitely do many things separately. And we can go for hours at home without saying a word to each other. It's worked for us for 34 years! Joan, glad you enjoyed your conference. It doesn't seem like it's been many years since you started pottery...maybe 5? But you have become so expert at it now. We are getting more progress pictures of the house this week, we think we might move mid May

Glad you are getting out for some last nice dinners with friends and nephews! How is your mom, Sue? Did she get settled somewhere near her sister?
I am just starting year 4 of pottery—started in Dec 2018–I think. Times go by so fast!
We had the goodbye celebration for my gym friend yesterday—so many people came—we ended up with 95 wish cards in my pot for her—people seemed to love the pottery I made—I presented it to her and spoke—today am exhausted—think it is part let down from planning this whole thing. Also not feeling well—am going to take a covid test as I am worried about cold like symptoms. Ugh—if I have it then I’ve exposed others all during the celebration! Geez, I hate the stress this virus has caused!
I finally did flower plot clean out today and planted a couple pepper plants in my garden things—need to prep some pots for tomatoes but honestly just haven’t a lot of energy today! So I told DH I’d fertilize and do that tomorrow. It’s finally not windy today—we’ve had constant wind for the past week!
I have eaten out every meal but one since last Wednesday so guess I’d better cook tonight—finally got groceries yesterday! I have to say I’ve totally enjoyed eating out again!

Hi All,
My parents and I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar Broadway show in Charlotte. My brothers have a friend in it who they met in Ocracoke. Pretty neat. We saw him in Spiderman about 9 years ago in NYC and he showed us backstage.
I have not done the C25K since that one time due to a combo of things, but hope to get back to it. I’ve been having a lot of issues with my jaw and tight muscles. I got a foam roller that seems to help.
My sister got an ER nurse position pending passing boards after graduation. Nurses are in high demand now for sure.
Sue, congrats on selling your condo. There is plenty of wildlife around here for sure. I’m grateful though that the deer seem well fed and haven’t messed with my garden too much. A groundhog dug a hole under my AC unit, and my sister got a picture of it banging on the door one time.
Joan, I didn’t realize that it had been that long since you started!

Have been sick since last post—omg, thought it was covid but kept gettting negative test results—worst “cold” I’ve ever had—finally was able to walk today—first day in 9 days! Now DH has it! But like all sick men he just stays in bed. When has a woman ever had that privilege ? LOL. Granted I didn’t do as much as usual but I still managed to make all but two dinners!, laundry, fertilized garden plots and pots, managed house. But I do wish he hadn’t gotten it as it is nasty.
getting back to clay the last couple days—so am going to go play in the “mud” now. Gym was canceled today—I went back yesterday and had planned to go today. It’s breezy here again!
DS park ranger is in town for park ranger annual training—spent time with him last night—he’s a mess emotionally—papers for divorce served to his wife—she verbally attacked him yesterday before coming and he was “whipped”—he’s just all over the place — hoping he gets back into some good place soon—there is no hope for the marriage at this point so they just need to get on with it!

Hi! More busy days dealing with house stuff. The sale of house fell through, she backed out. Complained that the condo assoc didn't have enough money in the reserve fund (not true), also too many little things wrong in the inspection report (some of which we were in the midst of fixing anyway). She seems someone who makes rash decisions and doesn't really know what she wants, we found out that she was recently divorced after only 1 year of marriage...doesn't sound too stable person. Also, our realtor told us that for the amount of money that she earns, she doesn't seem to have proportionately enough money saved.
Well, I don't mind not selling the house! Actually lessens the pressure that we're not moving to new house and settling on this house at the same time. Also, I can stay in the condo during my visits to philly
So we've been dealing with plumbing issues (lots of them), stemming from years of unuse, all of a sudden everything is failing after 17 years. We have been pretty good at maintaining but 17 years is a lot. Also have been dealing with the stone in our shower and the hall shower. SO thinks he can "fix" things himself and he always just wings it, well he found out that he can't get away with that when trying to sell a house. It's also been really difficult to get on people's schedule for repair. Our regular plumber was too busy to come but that same day that I called him, the ceiling above our kitchen island started leaking water from one of the pendant lights. Turns out our neighbor above had a leaking dishwasher which came through to our unit. She called her plumber who she's had for 30 years and he came over the next morning, and he ended up coming to our unit to fix our problems. Crazy. Anyway, we have stone people coming Saturday morning, and plumber coming back (with additional ordered parts) next Tues
I was on a waitlist to see my cardiologist, and finally got to see him. I originally thought that I would be in Tucson this spring and by the time we realized we would still be here the earliest appointment I could get with him was June! I had to increase my BP medication a little bit, not happy about that. It's probably from the stress of the past year, plus probably not eating as healthy with doing take out once a week.
Joan, glad you are feeling better now, did you take the pcr test for covid? Are you getting a second booster? I read somewhere that they don't know if getting the second booster could impact the effectiveness of future vaccines that are modified to adapt to more drastic mutations of the virus. But I don't know if that is "fake" news, I need to look into it some more. Sorry about what your DS is going through with the divorce.
Holly, have you seen a Dr about your jaw and muscle issues? It seems just yesterday your sister graduated from high school and didn't know what she wanted in life, wow! Congratulations to her!
Have some more dinners coming up next week, Wed is girls night out with 4 other women in my condo, Fri dinner with ex-colleagues couple who live close to us, and Sat with a woman I met where I used to volunteer. She and I had actually gone to culinary school at the same time but never met. She's pretty amazing woman, in 2019 she volunteered in Guatemala 6 months, cooking at a home for abused girls. She went back to Korea during 2020 pandemic, but in 2021 went to Cambodia to volunteer at a school for orphans. She came back to US to visit her son in Boston and will visit Philly next weekend. SO and I will take her and her son out. Looking forward to all the dinners!

Awful to suddenly have plumbing issues, Sue—did all get fixed? Everything seems to start happening with houses and cars!
I have been busy doing some clay, fair amount of walking and some gym classes—I’m so tired tonight that I may go to bed soon and it’s only 8:20!
Have you all watched The Eyes of Tammy Faye? Oh my gosh—if not, be sure to do so. How about Coda? What an excellent movie—Holly did you watch? I’m so glad the lead actor won an Oscar!
We are having lots of wind today—was supposed to get a full out dust storm with up to 70 mph winds but didn’t happen yet so may not. Hope not!
I walked Saturday and did a dumb thing—took my regular glasses and prescription ones too. Got to the coffee shop and discovered I’d lost them. The three of us (we had met up with my daughter) looked all the way home. Then I turned around and walked the whole thing again and then Gary did—nothing! So today when i walked I decided to try again-was rather hopeless about it but sure enough, I found them—a bit bent but got them all fixed up today! Happy ending.
we are reading the Extrordinary Life of Sam Hell—good book.
