Hi All,
We’re heading towards the end of the semester. We have Friday and Monday off for Easter, which will be a nice break. I have lots to do around the house.
I have some spinach, green onions, lettuce, and brussel sprouts coming up. I’m getting ready to plant some edamame and sugar snap peas this weekend. They say to wait til after tax day to plant tender plants. They are talking about starting a Farmer’s Market here, and I volunteered to be on that committee.
Joan, I want to see CODA, but it is on Apple TV. They piecemeal so many of these streaming services these days! I’m glad you found your glasses.
Sue, I hope the plumbing issues have been resolved. It’s always something. Yes, my sister has come a long way. It is time for her to strike out on her own.

Really enjoying this book—the Sam Hell one.
It was nearly 90 here today—the past five days have been lovely other than when the wind has blown.
My desert latte mugs for my cousin turned out just beautiful—am so relieved . Now we have to figure out how to get them to him. St George is about 2 hr drive but today we just found out our son is coming for the weekend. DS from SLCity UT.
Tomorrow is my 3 hr gym day—did pilates and walked today. I carved the bases of the two horses I made—one a foal to go with the adult one—am so tired—have been reading all night since dinner.
Sue, hoping you got all the plumbing taken care of!
I wanted to host a neighborhood pot luck this weekend but now probably will put it off again! Some of the people I really want there will be leaving town soon so have to figure this out.
Holly, I’m jealous—have one head of cabbage that seems to be growing. The beets just didn’t do well over winter—no idea why. I have a couple small peppers coming. No tomatoes planted yet and that’s really late for here—DH has no interest in readying the pots this year—if I remind him again, I feel like it’s nagging! Guess I’ll plant some arugula and greens and hope for better gardening days.

Well, my neighborhood party has to happen now as I have distributed invites to everyone on my street and about 7 others that live down another street. I have to shop for pork tenderloin and make a large dessert dish of some kind—I’ve asked two others to do desserts and everyone else salads. My neighborhood has become more and more diversified so it will be fun to get everyone together—well, I think it will be for me anyway. Just on my street one couple from each: Iraq, Israel, Iran China, Mexico, Siri Lanka, —and some other new neighbors as well. I’m going to make a name tag with a street map. (Small of course) and everyone will fill one out with an X where they live on the map.
DS from SLCity spent the weekend with us—just came for a visit—was nice. We drove down to the little house I owned when single when he was young, before marrying DH. Also visited the house I gave up when divorcing and DS was a baby. Told stories, just hung out!
weather has been awesome but is supposed to warm up gradually this week—evenings and mornings of course should stay cool for another month or so.
Hope everyone is doing okay!

Geez, we are speeding through April so quickly. My parents, sister, BF, and I went to see the Eagles on Monday night. It was amazing and I was pleasantly surprised at how well my CIs were able to handle the sound.
Dad just gave me some bell peppers and tomatoes, so I need to plant those. I have some edamame that is just starting to come up along with some other herbs and greens.
I am really feeling like I got in over my head with the size yard I have. The house sits on 2 acres. My cousin cut it last year, but got a new job, so I have to find someone else right when everything is growing so quickly.
So much happening in world news, it is overwhelming.

Agree, Holly—world and US news are so depressing that I literally have to escape it! I bought another cup from a Ukrainian potter who donates her proceeds to making food for local troops and volunteers. It came today.
I started my oven (small one) on self clean without reading the manual—ugh, now I can’t bake in the bottom one! However, at 3:30 I am going to stop it in hopes that then I can open the bottom one which I do not want to clean as it is perfectly clean—I have a cake halfway made—luckily have no leavening powders in it yet!
My street party here—salad pot luck—is this Saturday—trying to make my desserts today—made biscotti this week and froze it—now making my mom’s old apple sauce cake recipe which is so heavy and yummy and can be cut in small squares that are almost dense enough to be like a finger food.
Bought 8 Pork tenderloins this morning—may get two more ==and will get the rolls on Saturday morning. Everyone bringing salads except two others making some desserts.
DH started cleaning the patio so it’s looking good—tomorrow they come and clean my kitchen tile and grout—it’s been in need of it for a couple years—but dropped a bottle of avocado oil this week so we decided to just do it! Have to get the kitchen all cleaned up tonight as they will be here a while tomorrow and I don’t want to clean on Saturday.
DS Park Ranger’s divorce is derailed again—now his wife decided she wants to fight for the house—honestly neither of them should have it as it’s way too big and they would both have to get some renters to help since real estate value is up so high now—DH finally got fed up and told DS to get over it and just get out and start his own happy place —this dragging on drama is killing him and in turn us—he fascinates between sane and insane as does she!
No clay work this week—too much to do!
I’ve gained 4 # total—after party on Saturday, I need to cut back again—have just been eating too much and started little snacking junk == time to pull back.
Holly, would loved to have been with you for the Eagles!!

Hi! Been really busy with house stuff. Lots of drama. We had a house inspection and the report was not great. There's been a lot of conference calls between us and our realtor and lawyer, lots of emails. Basically SO feels we are too invested (movers coming, furniture from Italy already in Tucson warehouse, cars being picked up here in Philly and another in Boston area - all arranged) and will be costly to delay or cancel.
The architect had not been very transparent with anything, we feel that he may have cut some corners. Next week there will be HVAC, landscape (possible dying cactus), roofing, insect (termite found in casita) specialists coming to the house. After we get the results of the inspections we will have to withhold or come to some sort of agreement with the architect on the terms of the settlement.
UGH! Lots of emotional stress. So much to organize and do the next 2 weeks. I had been hoping that SO would try to move next fall, but we also have a cruise planned in Sept which we would lose a lot of money on if we cancel.
Feeling a little overwhelmed.
I'm reading your posts! Glad to you guys are doing well. Will try to get back here to post more this week.

I’M SO sorry to hear about troubles with the move and the house, Sue—way too stressful! Yikes! Hard to build and not be in the area—when my sister in law had her house build DH literally inspected it every night—he found so many terrible mistakes it was crazy—even with all that, they made errors that weren’t caught had that year was so stressful for her that she ended up in the hospital with crones disease—drs felt that the stress helped bring on the symptoms—anyway, be careful—take care of yourselves and believe in the reality that eventually all will get ironed out.
It’s going to get pretty hot here today—could tell when I got up that the day was not starting as cool as usual. Also going back to high winds—I swear, i have never seen it so windy here as this winter/spring.
Holly, your peony is beautiful—there is no way to grow them here—I loved them in Montana!
having BF’s over tonight—will order food in and play cards. Had housekeeping this morning! I’m sleepy—sitting out on the patio watching the cat sleep outside—very active! LOL
I’d like to build something but never do on housecleaning day—it seems almost sacreligious to do that to the laundry room after it was just cleaned—LOL.
Our neighborhood party was a total successs—about 34 people came—everyone stayed till about 9:15 or so—and all seemed to really appreciate the effort==have been talking more with neighbors aleready! And we had the only not windy day/evening in a long while—very next day was gale force winds most of the days!! Really lucked out. We were so pooped the next day—but people were great about helping to clean up and break down tables etc., or we would have been in worse shape! We will have to do another one in the fall I think.

Hi! We fly out tomorrow! So many things wrong, still no agreement as to the holdout amount for unfinished/incorrect work. We will try to settle on Monday.
Exhausted!
Will try to post more in the next couple of days since all the hard work of packing is DONE. Will be doing a lot of sitting around the next few days.

Wow—Sue, how are you doing out west? Are you in a hotel or in the house? Hope you arrived at a comfortable position with the unfinished work!
Vegas was hot yesterday—102º which isn’t so terribly hot for occasional in May but it was hot till about 8:30 pm which is unusual. Now this morning it’s windy and has cooled down! Hate the wind but if that’s the price for cooler temps I’m ok. I went on singular prescription and my asthma has virtually shut down—Yay! Avoided the meds for several years but this year has been exceptionally bad for me—the first week I was so tired every day but I think my body is adjusting now.
DGD17 in Sacramento received so many honors at her high school honors assembly. For the first time ever, the school’s PTA awarded a student award—to her—and the write up they read was over the top—they basically credited her for saving HS spirit and activities during the pandemic mode the past two years—which was basically true—she created virtual class events during 2020 and was asked to present to the district’s school board what she was doing because other schools were getting so little positive feedback from parents and kids. She had A+ average, straight A’s, lettered in sports—diving— and high achieving AP student. Pretty special. We are super proud of this kid!
Got our second booster last night—was achy this morning but with Advil it went away and really much easier than the last booster.
DS Park Ranger still not divorced but getting closer to finalizing paper work—if his X to be doesn’t sign within ten days he will go to court. She is still enabling DGS16 with accepting drugs in the house, allowing him to drive, etc., etc.—DS is a peace officer and has to take a lie detector test yearly with questions about living with people who are illegally using drugs—he feels he has to get this done soon before that day arrives again. Also to end the drama and there has been lots of that!

Hi All,
This is my favorite time of year. Everything is quiet and calm at work.
We’re in a hot spell right now with temps in the mid 90s. It is supposed to cool down next week. My garden is doing well so far.
Joan, wow, congrats to her. Does she still dance as well?
Sue, I hope things have settled down with the house.

DGD17 does not do any dance now—she dives, and does spin classes and runs for exercise—DGD21 in NYC takes dance at Columbia—as extra curricular I think—they do performances and I get to watch live streaming. So I don’t think either will be dancers but I do think all those years were not wasted—they both learned a lot of stage presence and cooperation and flexibility and never had time to get in trouble due to boredom. Was certainly expensive tho!
I have done so much pottery building this week—trying to take advantage of any time we are home not traveling—so my drying shelves are really full! Have been doing some fun cute things this week—and working on a few things that I think I could sell in a Christmas sale—tomorrow I get two mugs out of the kiln that are new work for me also—-will do more if they turn out well! I’m so obsessed! I think DH is going to help me build a raku kiln in the back yard this fall—I took an on line workshop on how to do it and I have the written plans—have been hoping to do this for about a year now.
Hope things are working out for you, Sue!

Hi all, I had composed very long thread and lost it all- said something went wrong- could not find it or retrieve it. I’ll do this in sections as not to loose again
Sue some how thought you were in California. Sorry you are having problems and hope the shelves are installed soon. The furniture and room are beautiful! What a great way to start your retirement.
Moving always brings problems doesn’t it! If we ever move there will be major issues. I have tried so hard to downsize stuff but find more collecting.
The abdominal ultrasound did not show anything and I am still having major IBS problems periodically. Have lost 10 lbs without trying. Not the way I want to loose! Don’t feel like eating much.
My leg pain is some better. The back pain that seemed to cause the outer aspect left leg pain is gone. Now thinking it was from the kidney removal. The inner aspect left leg tenderness seems to be a superficial phebitis- I went to a vascular guy. I am now wearing a heavy compress hose on that leg that has helped.

We are going to lunch today with DS and family for DGD’s 15th birthday celebration. I probably won’t eat much but it will be nice getting out of the house for something other than dr’s appts.
We have had a lot of rain and dreary weather but the grass looks great. Today is beautiful- sun shining, slight breeze, great temperatures. My hydrangeas look beautiful- Holly thought of you and yours.
Since sitting in the chair a lot , have been making a lot of socks. Also stared crocheting plastic grocery bags ( “plarn”) to make sleeping mats for the homeless. It is amazing how nice they come out. Wish I had made a picture of the first one I made. We take them to homeless shelters. Others in my church help collect the bags and make the plarn. No cost but our time. Great recycle use of the bags.
