Great to get an update, Sue—Oh my gosh, you are having to have so much re-done—sounds like the guy was really thinking he could pull stuff off! Amazing about the javalinas=-and mountain lions—geez, could you have flipped your living headquarters and more than this change??? Sounds as if you need to carry pepper spray or something with you at all times! So glad you are going to get to visit Philly—know you must miss seeing your family and friends back there. Will you stay in your condo? Are you thinking you’re keeping it for that purpose?
My son has a very long hard recovery—seems they disturbed so much of his back—his incision is about 6+ inches long. He still can only lift 15# (5 more than before), can’t ride bike, can’t run-can take hikes but limited sitting and standing time. He’s very frustrated with life right now.
DD and DSIL have been here all week—will have to restrict my food intake after they leave—have just let myself eat with the group but I can tell I’m up a couple pounds on my waistline!
what a dinner, Sue—must have been kind of fun for you to get into the fancier cooking mode again!
DS park ranger and his GF are coming tonight for dinner with us as is DD here and her BF—we will order in some Thai food and eat out on the patio—the weather is so perfect for eating out—and my dining room is covered with pottery for my sale which will be Nov 12–am gradually getting ready. Making mugs now for the holidays/winter—and a few more trees.
Getting weekly treatments on my shoulder/arm—no tears in rotator cuff—but fraying and moving toward frozen shoulder so am getting the acupuncture treatments weekly and this week doubling the exercises for the arm. Getting a bit more range of motion—but it’s slow.
Hoping DD will quit work early today == my eye dr’s technician wants to buy a piece of pottery from me—one of my face planters. He caught me off guard—I told him $60 but should have said $70 as I put a $10 plant in it and the picture I showed him had the plant there! Live and learn. Anyway, we will take it up to him. Perfect place to take it for sure as my glasses fit on it and they could put some of these in their display with sunglasses or whatever just for fun.
House will feel very quiet tomorrow when the “kids” go home and even Finn the dog is gone. Has been fun having my DD to chat with in the evenings. We didn’t do anything special as they worked all week from here. But still fun. To have the company.

Hi all,
We have had great Fall weather here. I got covid in the middle of September. It was very mild, not as bad as the sinus infection the week before. Kira is almost halfway through obedience training. She’s so smart and knows how to push the limits.
Finally got the new drain field for the septic tank. The fence will hopefully get put up in Nov after we get back from Ocracoke. My immediate family is going. I’m really looking forward to getting away and a break from Kira, lol.
My sister moved out at the end of September and took the cats with her. I miss the entertainment, but am glad to have my own space again. She starts her ER nurse job in Nov.
Sue, what a headache. Does he know that you and SO are architects and probably could catch those details? Do you have to order food now to get the quality ingredients?
Joan, I’m planning to try to sell some knitted stuff online before Christmas. I’ve never been able to get much done until after the holidays. Sounds like a good week with DD. Did Finn get along with Tanzi and Sidney?

Rather enjoying a little alone time—DH took his camp trailer out to Valley of Fire for three nights—last night I binge watched half of the new series From Scratch—really good. Stayed up till 1 am and got up at 8! My old , prior to marriage, habit! I’v e been clay building—made 11 mugs since he left, one nativity scene and today one of my special vases—am going to make about two more things and then it’s time to stop—hoping to sell most of this at my sale on the 12th—several people seem to be planning to come—next week we will post a flier at each cluster of mail boxes in our three neighborhoods. Hoping the weather hold up! After this sale I’m going to get back to making the things I really want to get good at again—I would hate to try selling all the time.
Holly, lucky you had a light case of covid! We will get our shot sometime after the 5th—hate the thought as everyone I know has gotten sick for a day after it! Also the flu shot seems to be taking people down this year! Need it too.
I’ll be glad to have the sale over—pottery all over the dining room, living room and kitchen island! Poor Gary is probably totally fed up! LOL
I must go shopping for some groceries and odds and ends today—have not set foot out of the house except for my daily walk since Sunday! If I had a full supply of clay and needed no groceries probably I’d never leave home! GDS22’s GF’s dad committed suicide—he had alcohol and drug issues—so am going to the funeral on Friday—didn’t know him but I really love Cam, his daughter—so just want to be there to support her. The kids are having to foot the cost of burial, funeral, etc—started a go fund me in an attempt to cover costs. Her mom divorced him about 4 years ago because of the alcoholism. Guess it just got worse.
DS in SLC finally got a new dog—adopted a foster care dog—8 mo old—she’s beautiful but he said she’s not been trained so they are working hard at it. She’s chocolate brown with beautiful brown eyes. His back is still not good—still not allowed to work!

Assuming you might be in Philly, Sue? Hope you are and that you are enjoying your family meet ups. And friends.
getting a bit stressed over this upcoming sale—today the weather turned cold and windy—hoping that in a week it’s not like this—if so we’d have to hold it inside! Yikes.
Holly I see you are at the beach? Is the whole family on vacation? I have to fill out my ballot tomorrow—and take it in—I am so very fearful about what is happening election wise—so afraid the majority are not going to vote as so often is the case in midterm elections—what a nightmare we might be facing.

Hi!
Things are still busy here with contractors doing work. Separate from the developer is work we contracted with another company to install our automated shades and lighting and security. There's been issues with supply and it takes a long time to get the materials. Almost done though.
Joan, I'm leaving for Philly on the 14th. I haven't traveled alone in years, haha. We used to travel separately all the time because of work. I'm a little concerned SO being here by himself, and the condition of the house when I come back...he doesn't even know how to turn on the dishwasher, he'll probably use the same knife and fork the entire time and handwash. He is a pretty neat person though. I'm so glad to hear how well your DGS22 is doing, that was a rough patch he went through. Sorry about his GF's dad.
Holly did your BF go to the beach with you? Well, seems like everyone got covid, and we were so careful for so long. Thank goodness for the vaccines. Joan, SO did not get any reactions from the new booster. We both got the flu shot and no reactions. I have to wait 3 months for the new booster, can't wait to get it.
SO and I have different schedules too. He is morning person and I'm a night owl. We generally watch a show together at night before he heads to bed and I stay up.
We went out to dinner with our realtor and his wife. They only really go out to dinner with us, they have other good couple friends that they cook together. That couple has a lot of food restrictions so going out can be problematic.
SO and I had our 35th anniversary of our first date! We went to an wine tasting event at our club. It was nice to be in a crowd of people, we were outside though, but nice to be in a lot activity. We are also in a cold spell here so it was cold that night, had to wear my winter coat. And in Philly it has been mucch warmer than usual.
Days are going by so fast, by the time I get back from Philly I'm going to have to start packing for our cruise in January!

Hi All,
Just spent a week in Ocracoke where my brother lives. It is such a great little village with a variety of restaurants and shops. Kira had a blast at the boarding place with other dogs, and now she’s bored out of her mind, lol. My BF did not come, didn’t want to take that much time off.
It was 82 degrees here today. This back and forth weather is exhausting, but I have probably saved a lot on heating and air bills. It gets dark right after worlk now, so that is challenging with Kira. My dad and brother are going to put the fence up over Thanksgiving break.
Joan, I’m glad you like DGS’s GF. It sounds like they can commiserate, as unfortunate as that sounds.
Sue, I don’t think my dad’s ever done laundry. My mom doesn’t trust anyone to do it right anyway, lol.

So good to hear from you all! I’ve been busy like crazy—getting ready for my sale on Saturday—we have really done a good job advertising I think—notices up on all PO Boxes in the three neighborhoods, beauticians, yoga studios, gyms we go to, etc. One of us took notices to several schools for the teachers’ lounges. I have been promoting the sale on IG and FB—it’s another part time job! LOL. This week I’ve been making posters about pricing of my vases, trees, and nativity scenes—Now I’m getting people from all over wanting to buy them and pay shipping—ugh! Really don’t want to just make to sell so I have to learn to say no, sorry, in person only.
DH will be happy for Saturday I’m sure—I have pottery everywhere in the house—it is organized tho and only have pricing on mugs left to do other than setting up outside early, early Saturday morning. Keep your fingers crossed for no wind for me—I REALLY do not want to bring this sale inside the house!
Had such a terrible shock yesterday—I’ve been trying to reach my cat sitter—she always texts me right back—even called her—no answer. Yesterday I found out from another pet setting agency that she died—OMG—I fell apart! She was only 50–so, so young and so capable—and such a nice person. She had liver cancer and struggled through it alone—which makes me even sadder! So yesterday I was a mess all day off and on—she was so good with animals—they loved her and she really took her work seriously—we will miss her so much!
DGD18 at MizzOu is a journalism major—oh my gosh, she is doing so well—three months in a row her editorial was chosen for the Maneater—their newspaper—and they only print one student’s each month! Now they bumped her up to assistant editor of the newspaper.
We go to LA on Wednesday next week for the LA auto show again—we are looking at electric cars for me—I love my Forrester but if we find an e car that I can see well and really like we will be ordering one.
I have a friend who left for a month trip to chilie , Argentina, and Antarctica Monday—can’t wait to see her penguin pictures. Is this Jan trip the Antarctica one, Sue? We are going to NYC on Dec 8 to 12— will see DGD22 dance in one of her Columbia dance groups—the hardest one—she loves it—all the women and men in it were in dance companies right out of high school—she auditioned and they wanted her—i watched a live stream work in progress and could tell working with these people she has really advanced. She’s dancing 15 hrs a week and taking 18 credits—says she has literally no time to socialize.

Well, we were so lucky—on Saturday we had the best weather—it was chilly but our back yard is in the south and with the pavers on our yard it has full sun in winter and is toasty warm—I had on a sweater but it was too warm for the patio heater—it was only about 48 or 50 but in full sun with no wind was perfect. We had lots of people—mostly my friends and neighbors—but they knew what they wanted and they bought—I have very little left—I was shocked when I added up the venmo and Zelle with the cash—made over 2000! And today I sold three more things—and just now my last big yard bird—I only have one tree left—and some cups—my pie plates didn’t sell but that’s okay—only 2 of them. It was so fun—there were former staff members of mine who I’d not seen in person in 27 years!! Some in 15 years! Was sort of like a reunion and everyone seemed to be having fun. My two potter friends did not sell as much but they also didn’t get their friends to come again—don’t know why. But they sold enough to feel happy they did it so that’s okay. We think we will do a spring one around early May and then a holiday one every year. People are now trying to order things—am just saying no more sales till the next actual sale—I really want to build for my own enjoyment without filling orders! Anyway, I think I am going to use part of the money to buy supplies to build a raku oven in our back yard.
We leave for the LA auto show again on Wednesday—till Saturday. Sitting in electric cars. We already have the solar panels and had a plug installed for the car charging. It will replace my forester—which I hate to give up but I think I want to help drive “clean”.

Happy Thanksgiving, Sue and Holly—and JoAnne if you are out there.
I drove a Genesis electric car today—beautiful car, really nice drive.
Making salad and pie tomorrow and maybe an apple cake.

Got our 5th covid shot—booster today. Hoping to feel well tomorrow as I have yoga and pilates and want to clay build in the afternoon!
Remember Valerie Levanos who lived in DC and then moved to Maine? She bought a cup from me for a friend of hers—I don’t really plan to sell anything that has to be mailed but she saw this one mug and said she had to have it. I sold it at my sale to a local friend so made one for her to buy as well. Wow, sent it UPS—to get it there in one week was $15 but if you wanted to have it there in three days the cost would be $50–geez, no comparison!! Crazy.
It got a bit chillier today—high was only in the 50’s.
My kiln is cooling down and I’m dying to see the results but looks like I have to wait till morning! UGH! So hard to be patient. I’m making my kids magic shakers—salt shakers that have no holes in the top nor do they have a stopper—thinking they are going to be cute as I made some look like animals/pets and carved the others —tomorrow should be a fun surprise.

Hi all,
Thanksgiving was good. We went to my aunt and uncle’s house in Greensboro. My dad and brother started working on the dog fence on Friday and got most of the posts up. They will finish it when my brother comes back for Christmas. It’s been a long time coming.
Joan, glad your sale went well! Shipping really has gotten expensive.
Sue, glad you had a good trip. You still have the condo, right?

Oh my, things happen fast with my DH! So we found a dealer who agreed not to add on to the cost of the car and we ordered an electric car—GV60–Genesis. But it will be 6 to 12 months and no freeze on the cost so if they raise the price more, it will be even more expensive and it is predicted that the electric cars because of high demand will go up more. So DH started hunting for cars again—a dealer near Burbank CA got one in just like we ordered 8 days ago and we just bought it—so on the 17th we fly to Burbank to pick up my car. He already has a price for my Forrester and because it’s pretty low miles for a 2019 the price is good—DS park ranger might buy it but we have told him he only has days to decide and we won’t carry a loan—so if he comes up with cash for it we will offer it to him for same price we agreed with this EchoPark place which is who bought Gary’s Subaru so we know and trust them.
Yikes-=-things always tumble forward fast with DH in charge of buying something but I cannot disagree about the fact that by 6-12 months we will probably have to pay another 3000 or more over the present cost.
We fly to NYC Thursday at midnight—never do red eyes but we are going Jet Blue nonstop and want to get in same time as DD from CA. We see Kass for dinner Friday night and then see two performances—Sat and Sun . She is getting so good—watched on line last weekend for another company at Columbia that she is in and it was amazing. She won’t get to see us much as she has tons of work to do for school as the dance is taking lots of time right near finals! But it will be fun.
Then go the 17th to get the car. Then the 21st to drive to CA for Christmas=-On the 30th when we are back in town I’m going to stay home for at least two weeks! LOL—I have a clay conference on Martin L King weekend in St. George, UT—I’ll get to drive my new car there. —-THEN it’s stay home time!!!

Well, like I said, things move fast! Now we aren’t going to CA—Genesis JUST in the past few days or hours put out a policy that you cannot sell out of state—if you buy a car out of state they add on 10,000 upon pick up! We would never have known had we not tried to buy this car—the owner told the sale person to call us back—the sales person didn’t even know as the dealer hadn’t informed his staff about this yet. DH called Genesis corporate and they confirmed that is their new policy—well, that sucks! So I canceled flights and am resigned to the idea it will be 6 to 12 months!

Hi everybody I guess you feel like I’m nonexistent anymore I’m doing this with the speech so it doesn’t have punctuation but it’s just easier I was so discouraged the last time I did a long long post and it disappeared and I just didn’t have the energy to do it all over again so hope you can read this without the punctuation it’s been a year from hell for our family but thanks seem to be going OK right now Larry has had pneumonia since August and we’ve been unable to resolve it with antibiotics he’s been on another two rounds of antibiotics and hopefully this will take care of it he’s also had some hearing problems that developed from the pneumonia and congestion The hearing is a real problem especially for me though trying to communicate with him but hopefully with the resolution of them pneumonia he’ll be getting better soon we went to a cantata at church and the music was just beautiful and I don’t think he could even hear that he can’t watch the TV because he can’t hear it and he sits down at his computer with his earphones on all the time which probably isn’t good for his ears either but maybe with some time and this round of antibiotics things will get better he’s supposed to try to decompress Isaiah’s bath holding his nose and blowing and hopefully getting his ears to drain we return again in one month to the ENT and then the audiologist he didn’t want us to go to the audiologist until things seem to be better with his ears his hearing aid doesn’t no good at all very frustrating living with somebody who cannot hear what you’re trying to converse with him about Holly maybe you can relate to this with your problems with your hearing previously hope you’re doing a lot better JoAnne at all that you i’ve been visiting your granddaughter in New York which is great nothing better than family at Christmas my family all came for Thanksgiving as the California family will all be in Australia as of Friday when my granddaughter gets out of school the sun is already there and seems to really like his new job they’ll be living in an apartment for up to 45 days so there with the rest of their things can arrive and they can rent a houseChevron will not buy a house because they are international but will rent them and give them a very very generous and living allowance the living expenses in Australia are terrific and I think they are getting compensated excited well enough to take care of it though Danny will be The operations manager for Chevron for Australia so he has a really good executive position I’m going to send this now and create another post so I don’t lose all this
