Happy Monday! Cold here this am. My cold is hanging in there but its not too bad a cold. My DD and DSIL are struggling with it and I am thankful that I have not gotten it that bad. I did very little yesterday other than go to church and get a cup of tea with a friend. Once I got home I watched movies with the stove going and went to bed eventually. A rare day for me that I did so little.
Hope each of you has a good Monday.. and next week we are in April. I have some crocus up and daffodils (the super early ones) blooming. Ginny

Grandkids have colds- DGS#2 seems to be the most sick but he is not unpleasant- just a sniffle and a cough. And its hard to believe how cold it is here today considering it was 70 only a few short days ago.

Good morning Ginny, Cj, and all who read. Ginny, don't you just love these extremes in weather Today here is warm and just a little breeze...so far anyway. Tomorrow, whole different story. Sorry the little ones have colds too. I'm glad the little guy is doing ok with it even those his cold seems the worst. I didn't feel much like working on my wrap yesterday so instead I did some more weaving of ends and finishing and wrapped the gifts for 2 dgds and ddil. I didn't have one item I made for one of the dgds but I did find it pretty easily so I'm thankful for that. Did a few other things then crocheted 5 scrunchies with beads on 4 of them. The girls like scrunchies Today I'll be working on more cleaning other household tasks and some online business I almost forgot about.Did my bills yesterday too. Have a great day everyone! Going to go check email and then get to work

Hello Ginny - I hope you and your family are feeling better soon I'm glad you had a day to watch movies and relax. Ruth - I'm glad you have lots of different projects to work on, it's really nice that your grandchildren enjoy the things you make for them. Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's cold and windy here today and was colder yesterday too. It's only been in the 30s today, so I know the windchill is less. I went out this morning to get some groceries and hope I don't have to buy again for two weeks. I have a lot of food in the house that I just need to use, but everytime I go in the store I buy more things I was able to get the machine quilting done on the flip flop table runner yesterday, so it's ready to put the binding on. I'm getting undecided if I want to give this away or not, so I might not bother with putting a label on it. I also pulled a jelly roll to use for the Jelly Roll Sizzle quilt along that Pat Sloan is having. I pulled out all my jelly rolls to pick from (I only have 7 of them) and decided on an older one I have that was the Little House on the Prairie fabric line. I must have really loved this one because I have the jelly roll, a layer cake, and I had fat quarters and yardage that I've already used. I also pulled some fabrics to work on a checkerboard style quilt, which is easy to make since it's just patches sewn together. I'm using some reproduction-like fabrics for this one. I've recently been drawn to the reproduction fabrics, so I had ordered some fabric and a pattern book from this company, and received them today: www.heartspunquilts.com/products-634.htmIf you click on their "Heartspun Quilts Fabrics" button you can see some of their fabrics. There are several quilts in the book that I'd like to make. They are smaller quilts, so I hope I can get to some of them. This is the pattern book: www.heartspunquilts.com/shop/Heartspun-Quilts-Books/p/Vintage-Treasures-Book-x46458313.htmI bought some cheddar fabrics, purple fabrics, and the old blue calico fabrics, as well as a layer cake and one piece of yardage. If there was a store like this around where I live, I'd spend a fortune in it Take care everyone

Ruth, glad found the item you made that was misplaced…..such a wonderful blesssing when finding a misplaced item is not too challenging. And when you get done cleaning, my house needs some work!
CJ-Me too!!!!That fabric line you just ordered from is so pretty! If a store near me carried that blue calico fabric line, I would be in trouble also.
Staying home tonight.Just think I need to rest.

CJ, those fabric are very beautiful. It's very easy to spend a lot of materials needed for the crafts we love. I hope you enjoy the ones you ordered and will enjoy the process of making something even more beautiful when all the different fabrics are put together.
Ginny, yes with that cold, the best thing is rest and drink plenty of fluids. How many times have we all heard that.
Well today I forced myself to get busy putting Yoda together. I'm not done yet and what I have done isn't perfect but ds will love it anyway. We undoubtedly won't even notice the mistakes. I had to stop though because I'm tired of it for today and will have to finish tomorrow. I have only the small parts to do and had enough of that with sewing on 6 tiny toes and 6 small fingers. Now I have eyelids, eyebrows and ears left to do and I guess you would call it embroider a mouth and then I think I'm done. Oh I do need to sew the sleeves into his coat but have to find my brown yarn that matches. (or not, it will be seen only in the inside so I can cheat)

Gosh Ruth, Yoda sounds like a lot of work getting him all assembled. No they will not notice mistakes and I am sure will just love him. Its a sweet part of the assembly- turning this from crocheted parts into an adorable toy.
I did get some crocheting time in last night, slept pretty well but wish I had slept another hour. Not sure if I feel worse than yesterday , maybe a little bit worse.
Guess I better get busy. Ginny

as was forecast, the weather is not great today. It's really not all that colder but certainly colder than the last three days. It's also very overcast and looks like rain or snow or even both.
Ok I got my living room all dusted. If it gets dusty after this it will stay dusty.I also put a bunch of things in their proper places and fixed up areas like where our boot try is and washed the boot tray and rearranged the shoes on it. For some reason it also had probably 15 pairs of gloves on it so those were put away also.
I did work on my wrap last evening. Today I will finish Yoda and do some things related to my "event"
Ginny I hope you're feeling better and that the little ones are also. I hope you didn't get too tired out caring for them.
CJ, I hope you're enjoying some quilting.
Sue, how's the weather in Big Sky Country and how are you and your hubby doing?

Like I said Ruth …..can always use the help with housework here! Sounds like you got a lot accomplished. Unless its a really wet spring, your boot tray should be fine for awhile- hoping that you have no additional snow. Are you able to finish Yoda??
For 4 sick people, today went very well and I am so thankful. My cold is not all that bad and I have improved over the past 24 hours. The kids were pretty good also.
Hi to Cj!
Sue, we miss hearing from you but understand that your life is not simple. Hope that you have been able to get the household help you want.
MIght stop back in later….if not see you tomorrow. Ginny

Hello Ruth - I'm sure it feels good to get some things done around the house. Hope you can get the Yoda finished. Ginny - I'm glad your cold is improving and I hope you and all your family are better soon. It was cold here again today, but in the 40s and not as windy. The wind was so loud last night I had trouble sleeping. The weather will be getting warmer this week, but now it looks like we might have some severe weather here on Thursday - hopefully not though. Well, I've always known I'm a bit crazy , but I guess it's true because I started another quilt along! I'm addicted them! This one is the Moda Blockheads. They issue a block a week between now and September. The blocks can be done in 9 inch or 4.5 inch sizes. I'm doing the 9 inch ones unless an easy 4.5 inch ones comes out and I might try it. I was able to pull some fabrics that I have, but I did end up ordering some extra yardage today, just in case I needed it. I'm using this quilt along to focus on my cutting, piecing, pressing and trimming skills, since I'm very sloppy on those most of the time. Most of my quilt blocks come out smaller than they should, but I was very happy that today's block came out just a tiny bit larger and I was able to trim it to size - woohoo Here are two pictures of my block, just on different backgrounds. I'm going to try to keep this quilt to a gold/bronze, dark red, cream (off white), floral and maybe add in some browns. Should be interesting Take care

CJ,did you buy those fabrics in a jelly rool or whatever the cake thing is.I forget what it's called. The fabrics definitely go extremely well together. If you like the QAL's no reason not to join. I never join the crochet alongs because I have too many requested things to do and also just the ones I want to do.Your Qal's always seem to end up being beautiful quilts. And I think that will all the quilting you do, ordering that yardage is a great idea because even if you end up not needing the extra you always seem to find a use for it.
Ginny, I'm glad it was a good day despite everyone being sick. I hope you get a good night's sleep so that you'll feel even better tomorrow.
Well it snowed on the mountain but not down here. I'm glad. The business (well one of them) I had to take care of online took a lot longer than I thought it would so I didn't get Yoda done but will tomorrow. I'm just going to relax and work on something I like better the rest of the evening. It's almost 8 now.
I sure made a lot of typos in my last post here!!

Ruth, Is Yoda done yet? It can be so frustrating when online business takes longer than originally planned. I do know I have seen some entities are asking for me to change my password, I assume to try to thwart Russian hackers. I hope that you were able to complete all you set out to do and are able to get some crocheting time in. Aw, I can make plenty of typos in a post and you are all gracious enough to let them slide. Hope you had a good day.
CJ- well if you like quilt alongs then go for it! I like the blocks…I do like red and yellow as a color combination. When I made the BOM 3 years ago, my favorite blocks were those that I used the gold/yellow and red, as you have chosen. Think its a great idea that you use this project to work on your seam/block size. When I was making my BOM they mentioned that the blocks had to be 12 inches ( if I remember correctly) and that smaller blocks would not work. It was mortifying….and thankfully all my blocks were the right size or just a tiny bit larger. Congrats on this one block being a tiny bit oversized.. which fabric did you order more of? Do you prefer one background over another? Both are pretty, I personally think I like the lower block better. I love tonal prints.
Babysat the little ones today and took them to the park. All in all it was a good day- but I am tired.
Have a good evening Ginny

Ginny, good to see you. I'm glad you were able to take the little ones to the park. I guess it tired you out though so hopefully you will sleep well tonight. No I still don't have yoda done and I don't think I feel like working on him this evening. I hate to procrastinate but I also don't like to work on those type things when I'm tired which I am now. I don't know why. I haven't done all that much today.
CJ, I hope you're having a good day. I'm not sure which of those blocks I like best because they are both very pretty.
I seem to have somehow misplaced my dh's glucose monitor so rather than doing a massive search...I already looked in the normal places...I think I'll just order a new one. He should have a spare anyway.

Hello Ruth - Hope you don't get much more snow and that you can finish your Yoda. Ginny - Hope you got some rest after the babysitting. Sue - Hope you are well. It's very windy here today and we might get strong storms later but I'm hoping they go around me. It is a lot warmer, around 70. The fabrics I'm using for that block I posted were pulled from my stash. I tried to pull some Moda fabrics to use since it's a Moda quilt along. And the fabric I ordered was more of the off white and another fabric that I hope matches the gold/bronze - since I'm concerned about running out of those two fabrics. Of course I had to buy some other things while I was shopping at the fabric stores online Yesterday I spent a bit of time reorganizing my fabrics that I have sorted by color. Those are the ones that are a solid or close to a solid looking. It feels good to have them organized better and now I can see what I have better too. I still need to resort all my novelty fabrics (theme, florals, holidays, etc.) since those have gotten to be a mess too. This morning I cut all the fabrics for 3 blocks that I need to make - 2 for Sweet Dreams and one for Moda. I hope to get them sewn together soon. I'm going to try starting each time I stitch with two 2.5 inch blocks that I'm sewing together. Quilters call this leaders and enders, but I'm using these 2.5 inch squares for another quilt I'm working on so I hope I can get a bunch of them sewn together this way. I'll see if I like doing this, if I don't I'll stop. Hope you all get to do some crafting and that your weather is nice. Take care
