Phyl - so sorry that you are having so much difficulty! I went through that about a month ago- and somehow it got straightened out. I do remember having to contact the moderator...and that helped. Keep trying. One way to get around this conundrum. Write your posts in Microsoft word and then copy them over to the site, then if the site loses the post you still have that. I used to have to do that with Weight watchers at times.
Ruth, well I like constant comment and earl grey- some other flavored teas also. I am a big fan of celestial seasonings herbals, roastaroma is a favorite- But unfortunately it is no longer available in the store. It's a really nice calorie free coffee like flavor, but much milder. Very soothing. Did you get some crocheting time in?
Meg, congrats on getting almost to the end of the baby blanket. Glad it will be cooler by you!! And I too like British blend. It's our favorite tea- everyone here likes it. Hope you rested well last night.
CJ- looking forward to your crafting pursuits today! It's still pretty moderate in temperature in your area, right?
Got a few minutes of embroidery in this am. Now have to get busy making Dd's birthday cake. I am baby siting the grandkids tomorrow, on her birthday and want to bring a cake with me and some frosting so they can decorate it. A cake decorated by a 2 year old and a 4 year old should be interesting to say the least.
Have a great day Ginny

Ginny, I once took over cupcakes and frosting to my dd's house for the youngest two to decorate. As you said, it was interesting.
I didn't get any crafting done last night. I did other things instead so it was mostly a wasted day.
I have to go out in a few minutes and I almost left an hour early. Don't know what I was thinking. I hate to be late for anything so I often end up places very early. This time it was only because I just thought it was later than it really is.

Hello Crafters – Hope you are all doing well today
Ruth – I’m glad you didn’t have any damage from the funnel cloud. I love Long John Silvers, but all of the ones around here have closed. I’ll have to try Red Rose tea sometime. I hope you can find the Black and Green tea.
Phyl – Welcome back, I’m glad to hear you had a good time. Hang in there I hope the website starts working for you. We want to hear about your trip
Ginny – The Black and Green tea is very smooth and not as strong as black tea, but not as weak as green tea – just something in between. I put Equal in my tea, before losing weight I would have put sugar in it. No cream for me. It’s funny because I always want to buy the flavored ones, they sound so good, but when I get them and try them, I don’t like them I hope you enjoy the cake decorating, it sound messy, but fun. Please let us know what it ends up looking like.
Meg – Did you finish your blanket? What are you starting on next? I'm glad your weather is cooler.
I finished another top that I think will be great to practice machine quilting on.
Back in November 2000 my sister-in-law and I went on one of those Quilter's Quests (Shop Hop) where we went to 12 different shops in the area. I think it took us about 3 days to visit them all since some of them were 2 hours away. While I was at each shop I bought one fat quarter as a "memory fabric". I’ve had these 12 fat quarters sitting around for almost 17 years!! The colors are all different, so there really wasn't a way to match them up and I've thought about a pattern or design for years. Finally I just decided to square them up to 17 inches by 21 inches and I sewed them together 3 in a row, 4 rows down and I have a quilt top now that is a memory of doing the Quilter's Quest
Since the blocks are so big, I thought once I get better on the Long Arm, I could quilt a different design in each of the 12 blocks. That would be kind of cool. Take care everyone!

ok here I am again. I see my name at the top so maybe it will go through.the trip was wonderful. we got picked up and stayed over night in schamburg il.(hapy hour) then on to dover. that was a long day. we met two couples from onalaska (3 MILES FROM HERE)We hit it off.espically with carol and murry. they also know our neighbors next door. we picked up our amish tour guide. wonderful lady.fact she owns the business.also use a cell phone. we drove around that day and that night ended up at a amish farm. this one is more modern. they raise throughbred horses. they have a nice two story newer house. we couldn't go inside. ten they have another building or gatherings. this one had electricity and indoor bathrooms. we had green beans , mashed potatoes and gravy, roast beef,c orn and real egg noodles. then there were different piesat each setting. mine was pecan. I did not eat it. looked at it and though ok sugar, corn syrup, my bs are high enough. don asked me if I wanted his pie. no. I thought thought his was banana cream pie. I had 3 bites. it was some kind of peanut butter crust and I don't know what all. the lad next to me asked if I wanted some of her apple crumb pie. no. that crumb was piled high. don would have told me he wanted the pecan I would have given it to him. then we went outside to look at he animals. can't say their dogs looked that great. I WAS walking up to the fence to take a picture of a horse. the horse came right up to me and let me pet him/her. then it was back to the motel.
yes I did make it to the amish quilt shop. not much of a shop. nothing jumped out and bit me. another bus rider was In there also. she was not impressed.f or a town of 2600 and for the amish I guess it is ok.
one thing mary said was do not believe everything we see on tv or read in books. a lot of books are fiction. she mentioned beverly lewis and wand betsetter? ok I know authors do research. but how much do we know gets lost In translation? mary has argue with tourist believing what they see on tv and read in books. I will go with what mary says. she lives the amish life I don't.
ginny can I have the name of the book you are reading about the amish please. thank you. I BOUGHTHE BOOK TRILOGY SADIE'S MONTANA. ther ae 3 stories I nit. over 1,ooo pages.this will take time to read.the author is linda byler. she was raise amish and writes a column for the amish newspaper.still is an active member of the amish church.
ok amish kids go to school till 8th grade. then go to work In resturants or factories.murry asked the other don't they want to go on to higher education/ what for was the answer. they can go on for ged. they want to go to higher education then they contuine In a mennoite school. they can go to a christen collage.
we were in dover, berlin, sugar creek and some other very small lowns In ohio. phyl

Hello everyone, I spent a lot of time looking at Pintrest patterns tis morning. It's the color combinations that I like and if I see a combination I like I will save it. That's all the crafting for today so fae. I will get to work later. It is much cooler here today and the high will be in the 70s tomorrow.
Phyl, your trip sounds wonderful and every interesting. I have passed through Amish country. I would have thought that they would lots of crafts to display. Perhaps they do in other Amish communities. I know that the Amish books are very popular but so far I have not read any. The pie would have been hard to resist but you did good. I have toi watch my BS.
Ruth, when Devin goes to his other DGMs she always sends him home with cupcakes or cookies. I'll let her deal with the mess of decorating. I think he would just want to eat the frosting. He has a sweet tooth that we have to curb.
cj, I just like regular milk in my tea. I think the flavored would spoil my cup of tea. I stopped using sugar in my tee when I was 16. I don't drink much coffee but I wouldn't mind the flavored milk in my coffee. I have never heard of a sho hop before. I hope you took a lot of money with you.

I'm back. I had to rush out of here to pick Devin up from school and I wasn't paying attention to the time.
Ginny, good luck decorating the cup cakes. They will probably want to taste the frosting. If I were there I probably would want to sample as well. Good to hear that you got some time to work on your embroidery. I am sure it will be very pretty.
I hope I can work on my b/blanket this evening. I wish you all a good evening.

CJ, IN looking back at that funnel cloud thing I found out the article was from three years ago not yesterday at all!! I was wondering how there could be a funnel cloud when the weather was so nice.
I do think that doing a different quilting in each block with be REALLY nice. And as you said, that quilt will be a great memory of your trip.
Meg, that high of only 70 sounds like a real cold spell for you. Enjoy the coolness before the heat strikes again.
I've been out a long time. Doctor visit and setting up referrals and appts for tests, etc. I'm going to be busy doing what I dislike a lot .....,going out of the house.

Hello my Friends. It's a cooler day than yesterday but not bad. It was great being able to drive my little car again but it was a little strange at first being so low after driving the larger vehicle for the last six months or so. I didn't get in any crafting yesterday. But I got some reading done. Nothing is planned for today or the whole holiday weekend so I'll just sit and knit or crochet. I'm going to have a busy week next week after the holiday with the tests and the PT. I need to start a couple little things to take with me to do in wait time. I have the hat too far long ant it's about to the decreasing stage and the scarf is almost done. The shawl is too large and too many skeins of different colors to take. Maybe I'll start another hat with some of the "suede" yarn. It's just plain knitting on the circulars so I can't lose my place.
I hope you're all having a great day. I think this is Ginny's fun day with her grandchildren. CJ, I bet you're at least thinking of doing blocks
Hello to Meg and Phyl. I hope you're both doing something enjoyable.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - Your trip sounds really nice, I'm glad you had a good time. Amish food can be very good. The Amish Market I go to has some really great food. Meg - Hope you get to work on your blanket and decide soon on the colors for your next project. Ruth - You had me laughing at your funnel cloud that didn't come in your nice weather I hope you can get some projects together to take with you to your appointments. I used to do that alot when I had to take my father to his appointments. It helps pass the time and you get things done. Ginny - Hope you are enjoying the day. I haven't done any crafting today. I did a little more of my hand quilting last night and want to try to do a little bit each day so I finish this piece and get on to other ones I have to do. I did pick out the fabrics I'll use for this week's Solstice block and hope to get it done in the next few days. This is Block #23 of 25, I can't believe I've stuck with this for almost 6 months Take care everyone!

CJ, well then you did get crafting done if you got your materials together. I congratulate you on staying with the weekly blocks for so long. I probably wouldn't have stuck to it and would have gotten way behind then given up. You have real sticktuitiveness! Haven't done much today but start some food for later and make dh his "breakfast" of hamburgers ...at 2pm. I still feel like it's a weekend. I don't have any idea of why yesterday and today felt like weekend when I was at the doctor's office yesterday and they aren't open on weekends. The med they gave me makes me very drowsy and I feel like taking a nap. Maybe I will.

Well, here I am at the end of a long day..
CJ- you amaze me how you manage to make fabric work for you- getting all those memory fabrics together. Congrats on getting this far through the solstice quilt. I am sure I would have conceded defeat a long time ago!
Ruth, hope that all your tests are non invasive and with good results. Totally agree that all that running around is for the birds and its more fun being home, playing with yarn and fabric.
Meg, looking at patterns on Pinterest sure does count as crafting! I thought we decided that a long time ago.....
Phyl, glad you enjoyed the trip. Beverly Lewis is of Amish descent, her books tend to be reasonably accurate. Yes, the Amish are not everything they are thought to be, but with good reason. THe book Is am reading, " The RIddle of Amish Culture" by Donald Kraybill does a decent job of explaining some of the oddities that we cannot figure out. two quick examples are this....some Amish are now using tractors...but will not permit rubber tires on them. Why? Rubber tires would make travel by tractor too comfortable and the Amish want to stay slow....and hard working....so that they are not so tempted by the world. Some Amish businesses now use electric cash registers....which is ok if they are powered by battery- not direct power line. Again, its all about the speed, and if a direct power line were available, then that would open the door to all sorts of automatic and modern appliances that are not in their cultural outlook. It's an interesting book. Well documented.
Yup, babysat today and we decorated birthday cake. I gave each a bowl with sprinkles in it, so that they could get those sprinkles on using their own technique. Both kids ended up eating sprinkles....after they decorated. It was pretty funny and very cute.
Long day- see you tomorrow Ginny

Ginny, the book sounds very interesting. I've only been in Amish country one time. That was interesting also.
It sure sounds like you had a very fun day and I meant to say happy birthday to your dd.
One of the tests is minimally invasive in that it involves a catheter.
I didn't get any crafting done again yesterday. I read my online book and took a nap and did minimal things around the house then went back to bed earlier than I usually do despite already having had the nap. I took only half a pill last night so hopefully today will be more productive

Hi Ginny, Ruth cj & Phyl,
It is cooler here today which is nice.. I will leave in a few mins. for my Knit Wits Gp. I was having trouble with my computer freezing so hope I can finish this post. Yesterday desided to look at pictures on Pinterest I did work on my b/blanket. The border is almost finished. Last night I was on UTube trying to learn a couple of new crochet stitches which I will try for afghans or b/blankets. Today at Knit Wits I will start a pr. of booties for myself. I have made dozens of these booties but never made a pr. for myself until a few months ago and I like them so I am going to make another pr.
Ginny, Happy Birthday greetings to your DD. I am glad the g/kids had fun with the cup cake frosting.
Ruth, I hope you get the test results soon so that you can get started on some medication and get better.
cj & Phyl I hope all is well with you.
I have to go but I will try and check in later.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - It sounds like you had fun decorating the cupcakes and the kids enjoyed themselves. Ruth - Hope you are getting some rest since that medicine is making you drowsy. Meg - Hope you enjoyed your KnitWits group today and got started on booties for yourself. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. I went out today for a monthly lunch that I have, and it was enjoyable. I did use up a lot of my points for the meal, but I'd planned for it. I had some friends contact me and asked me if I wanted to meet them tomorrow for a meal, so I hope to do that. Fortunately I still have points I can use for that. I didn't get any crafting in today, but I want to get that quilt block done this weekend. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Ruth, I hope that you are feeling better soon and get your energy back. I do realize that it might be the meds you are on...lets hope and pray that this is temporary. Will be praying for good test results too- and that you are comfortable throughout the procedures.
Meg, glad you got to knit wits! What color booties are you making for yourself? Isn't it great that we can go on YouTube and teach ourselves new stitches and patterns? I hope that you had a great day!
CJ- sounds like you had a nice day too- out with friends for lunch! Good job planning around that meal and tomorrows also. That is what makes program so liveable! Hope that you can concentrate on that quilt block this weekend.
Got some embroidering done this am, some straightening up and some gardening. I never intended to garden- but I pulled one weed and then another...... I have mentioned it before, gardening is not my favorite, but I like the way it looks w hen all done.
Have a good night Ginny
