Meg, I'm glad you got to go to your Knitwits group again. I keep thinking that I'm going to make myself some slippers or bootie type things but I never get to it because I'm always working on things for others. I'm glad you are making yourself some. Your's are knitted right?
CJ, what fun to go out with family and friends to eat. I love eating out. My dh doesn't and now, as I mentioned a few times, I really don't like going out at all but when I do have to go and I go alone I usually do stop to eat. I don't mind eating alone. I hope you can get to your blocks this weekend. YOu're so creative and obviously have a good eye for color and what combos of color and pattern go together well.
Ginny, no gardening here. It rained a lot of the day and besides when I stand too long it gets painful. Dh did mow part of the lawn again and the neighbor did another part again. There still is a lot to go. I have my tomato plants to put outside but they're still just so small! I'll have to start by just sitting them out during the day then progress to transplanting them to the large pots then finally leaving them all the time
I didn't do any crafting again last evening. I read again. I've done some more crocheting today though. I worked on the shawl. I had done two rows, which are getting much longer now, and I found that I missed a stitch which throws off the sides so had to take both those rows out and now have them back on and am starting a new row. I'm hoping to get a bit of that done tonight.
I think one of the things I'll start so that I have something small to take along for waiting time will be a pair of bootie slippers. Meg has inspired me. Now I'll look in my files to find a pattern, get them started, and put the started project and hook into a tote bag ready to take.I go Wed for the first test.

Good morning! Ruth your tomato plants are reaching that awkward point. We always have troubles with them at that phase as they are just starting to strengthen but have a tendency to become leggy. Most of the time we give up and buy plants. The deer eat everything here so I wonder if we will buy any plants at all. Meg gave you a great idea to make booties for yourself. Will you knit or crochet them? I cannot imagine that they take all that much yarn and would be a great way to use up a partial skein.
Not sure what today will bring.
Have a good day crafters! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get some embroidery done yesterday and the weeding, even if you don't like it We have a problem with deer too, so I don't think I'd bother with ever growing tomatoes again. I just take advantage of the great farmer's markets and get summer produce at them. Ruth - I admire you for going out and eating alone. That has always been something that was difficult for me to do, mostly because I felt everyone was looking at the fat person eating. Now that I'm a normal weight I've forced myself to eat out alone once, and I want to go again sometime. I think it's a good thing for me to do for myself. I hope you got some work done on your shawl and that you find a great small project pattern to take along with you to your appointments. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are enjoying the weekend and getting some crafting done. I haven't done any crafting today, since I'm getting ready to go out later. The ladies I'm meeting today are childhood friends of mine and I only get to see them a few times a year, so it's nice to get together and catch up. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon Ladies. It's a beautiful sunny day here. It's a little on the cool side so it's actually just right.
Ginny, I bet your pillowcases are really getting beautiful...am I remembering correctly that that's what the embroidery is on? I love butterflies and can picture how your's look. I'm glad you got some time to sit and enjoy doing some more. And I know pulling weeks is not fun but I bet it looks great now with them gone. Yes we have deer here too that threaten our plants. Dh had built and enclose for around where we used to put our veggie plants because the deer would eat the whole plant. Now, as I mentioned I jusst put them in very large pots and last year I had to move the pots closer to the house because I noticed branches of the tomato plants were bitten off. We have a lot of rabbits but they don't seem to like tomatoes. My neighbor grew some really good lettuce last year but I think he has a fence around them...he must or he wouldn't have had any to harvest even for himself let alone to give us.I may have to end up buying some plants too.
CJ, I finally learned not to care what people think. If they want to think bad things about me, esp when they don't even know me, well I feel sorry for THEM. You know you're a good person so keep thinking about what a good person you are and don't let what you think others think spoil your life. I know that's not easy to do but just keep practicing it. When out eating think of the people around you admiring you for making such healthy choices or that they're looking your way to admire your happy glow.
Meg and PHyl, I hope you're having a good day.
I did do some laundry today but will mostly just sit and work on my crafting. Visited with dh until now and he's gone to rest after tossing the load from the washer into the dryer. I hope he remembered a dryer sheet. I'm also going to cook a couple things in advance.

Hello Ginny, Ruth, cj & Phyl.
I am home alone today. DS is working all day and Devin & his mom have gone off to Tahoe for the weekend. I rather like having the house to myself. Last night I went out to dinner with DS. The restaurant was really busy but they got us seated and served fast. I had the English style fish & chips. I left most of the fernch fries and brough some of the fish home. I worked on my slipper boots for awhile when I got home and I slept late this morning.
There is a lot going on in Sacramento this weekend. Every year on Memorial Day weekend they have a Jaz Festival. They have bands come from all over the world and they play at different locations in the Sac area. I used to go but now I stay home.
cj, what fun to meet with childhood friends. The only time I can do that is when I go home to Ireland but most of my childhood friends are no longer with us. I hope you have a great time remembering all the things that used to do together.
Ruth, I have knit dozens of prs. of these slipper boots and never knit a pr. for myself until a few months ago and I love them. So I have made a good start and they don't take too long to make. I would like to have several pr. but they are heavy duty knitting. I am using Carron One Pound and I have to knit with 2 strands of yarn and that is a fairly heavy yarn. Have you had any news of your test results? I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Ginny I am knitting the booties. I don't crochet well enough to crochet them. But my crocheting is getting better. But I do like the pattern that I have used for years. The yarn I am using is Carron and it is a light green. It's yarn that has been in my stash for quite awhile and I am trying to make my stash much smaller. I just have to stay out of the yarn store. I can use up a lot of yarn by making them with stripes or whatever. How is your embroidery coming along?
I wish you all a wonderful day.

Good afternoon!
I will work backwards......
Meg, so glad that you have the house to yourself! Sometimes peace and quiet is just what the doctor ordered- I can picture you knitting those booties in a light green yarn with a good audio book going. Sounds like you had a lovely evening with Ds out for dinner. Nothing beats fast service too! Will you be enjoying leftovers today? Gee, I wonder if a local new channel covers the jazz festival- then you could enjoy it without leaving home. Live music is so enjoyable.....good music, a light breeze....hope your temps have stayed cooler. Ruth- how are you feeling? is the medication helping? I forget, what are you crafting now... Yes indeed I am still on pillowcase #1. Some days I only work on them for a minute or two, others I get a decent amount of time in. At first I was not super happy with the pattern but now the colors are working out and I like it. I figure I will finish this project in the summer, but hope to also be working on a quilt by then.
CJ- so glad to hear that you have been able to get out again and visit with friends. Bet it was fun catching up! Did you all go to school together? It seems that your friends are all fairly local still to make getting together a few times a year easier. Hope that you had a great time and enjoyed your meal.
Regarding eating by myself, I too no longer care what people think. Sometimes I am just plain happy - or should I say ecstatic- to have some time to collect my thoughts and if that means sipping coffee or eating alone, so be it.
Dh and I went to a historical site about 45 minutes from here- the area of interest (Revolutionary war and just before that) is right up Dh's alley. He has a strong interest in how this area was settled and the influence of the indigenous Indians. So I guess it was a good trip.
Hope Phyl stops in to keep us abreast of her antics. Have a good evening Ginny

Hello to Meg and Ginny again. Meg I know having the house to yourself is very enjoyable and relaxing at times. I'm sure that some of the discipline for Devin falls to you so that's one of the things that is off your shoulders for today. And Ginny definitely gave me a visual to think of...you listening to your book and knitting.
Ginny, I really love historical sites. I've always been interested in history. I was the oldest of six and when old enough to drive I took my youngest brother and sister to Wash DC, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, etc. I love visiting forts. I've visited Ft Ticonderoga several times. Ft Laramie here in Wyoming a couple times and several other forts I can't think of the names. I've visited Valley forge too. We have a Ft here in town too and of course I've visited the actual Ft in Ft Erie, Ontario but it's really not much of a fort but it's still fun to go to.Been to St Augustine in Florida and that was really interesting but it was many, many years ago and even though history never changes the area around it is probably entirely different now.
Today I've been looking online for knitted booties for adults and have one written down so I'll get the yarn and needles together for that. I want to finish the shawl today if I can and I do think I'm at the point where I can do edging. The pattern calls for edging just across the top but I think it will be much nicer with the edging all the way around.

Ginny & Ruth, I love historical places and I have been very fortunate to have lived near a lot of places when DH was in the USAF. Now I enjoy reading historical stories and love to read about the early pioneers. When we lived in Germany we were able to visit some of the Roman remains. The Romans left their mark in Europe and England. In England there are so many really old churches and many have memorial brasses. I used to go and rub them. W e lived in Suffolk the last time we lived in England and there are castles and so much of interest. I wont bore you as I could go on forever.
I can't use my kitchen sink at the moment as the handle broke off the faucet yesterday. We stopped at Home Depot last night and bought a new one. Now I have to find someone who can install it for me. DS is not the greatest handyman. So today I have to go to the bathroom if I want water. Now I am going to relax and listen to my book and knit.

Meg, yes Europe has many more historical sites than we have here. I've seen some in Germany and have seen the castles there and the town where Martin Luther lived.
Yes, Meg, I've been thru that having to get water in the bathroom thing too. I imagine you won't find anyone to do it reasonably for you until after Monday.

Ruth, so glad you found a pattern to get started on those booties! Will you be working from your stash or do you need a trip out for yarn?
Meg, Home Depot usually has a list of contractors for installing their products. Perhaps they can also recommend a handyman, which is all you will need for a faucet installation. Ginny

Ginny, it will definitely be from my stash.
I have the shawl almost done. I made a single crochet all around and now an doing a reverse single crochet around. That makes a nice edge. Then I have all the ends to weave in. I didn't think to change colors only on the row six repeat and the rest is too open to just crochet over the ends so I have a lot of ends to weave but, althought it's boring, it won't take all that long.. I have several wip's to finish up...the Cross bookmark, the hat, the scarf,...well actually I think that's all I have going right now. Next I'm going to start a couple baby blankets, some more bracelets and fingerless gloves and of course the slippers. And the ever going hats.
Have a good night my dear friends. See you all tomorrow

Good morning everyone, I am having a lazy Sunday morning. I will bring DD home this afternoon. I worked on my slipper boots last evening and listened to a book. I finished one bootie and have started the 2nd one. so providing I don't make any mistakes the booties will be finished soon. I would like to make another pair.
My computer is acting weird and I don't know if it is the computer or the web page. I was able to check in here but not to my mail; I will have DS check it.
Ruth, I would love to see your shawl sounds very nice. what is a single reverse crochet stitch. I suppose I could check and see if they have it on UTube. Now I am going to get dressed. I will check back later.

Meg, a reverse single crochet is a stitch strictly used for edging. To do it you actually do a single crochet backwards around the item you're making. It makes a really nice edge that is a little bit similar to a picot.
Well the shawl is done, Cross is done. All ends for both of those weaved in. I'm now working on the hat and am up to the decrease rows and actually am down to where you decrease every five stitches so close to done with that. I've made a list of projects to do but my lists are always subject to change and change frequently.
Bladder was feeling so much better but now it's really acted up with a vengeance once again. See you later

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
I've enjoyed reading your posts and about all your projects, hope you'll forgive me for not replying directly to you all this time.
I pressed my fabrics for my Solstice block today but still need to cut and piece them. I hope to do that tomorrow. I also did a little hand quilting on an older piece I have so I could test out a few different needles. It's really amazing how needles by different companies all feel so different when you're using them.
I had a nice time visiting with my friends yesterday. They were my next door neighbors for many years, so we have lots of memories.
Take care everyone!

CJ, of course we forgive you. And I'm so glad you had such a good time with your old neighbors. You'll get those blocks done. Don't worry.
I finished the hat completely and dh is pleased with it. I'm working on the scarf now because, although he said he wanted it just long enough to go around his neck, when he tried it he realized that he needs it longer. So that should be done tonight
