Happy Monday! Not a big NY Giants fan, I do have several foot wall teams that I sort of like. And several teams that I really dislike, two of them were eliminated yesterday. And I will not be all that happy if the Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl and win.
Anyway- Ruth, I am glad you finished the neck warmer. Hope that when you try on the neck warmer you are happy with how it turned out and that curl does not bother you. I. Will get back here later on and take a picture of the granny square afghan.I really like it., what a shame that it really never got used much by the child it was intended for.
Hope everyone is staying warm. I heard a long range forecast and it did appear as though this weather I have had in my area will become more unstable over the week and I guess there is a chance of snow. Thinking CJ might be impacted by that also.
I do have to go back to repair those two small mistakes I made yesterday so I can finish the blocks I started yesterday.

Ok so me being a bear of little brain, I had trouble posting, which I eventually did. Sorry the afghan appears twice. The table topper with the plant on top is the one I made 2 weeks ago. I did get all my blocks made for the PMQ. Yay!!! Now gotta press them, make sure they are well marked and get the assembly directions out. I did check to make sure I had all the blocks done and I sure do. Not sure when I will get around to putting it all together - hope soon.

Ginny, that afghan is truly beautiful! And so is the table topper. I love that the granny squares are each one solid color. That's where I made the mistake in making the baby sweater. I put three colors in each one which lead to an enormous number of ends to weave in.I was just thinking the other day of making something with blocks of one color each but now I can't remember what it was.I'll remember eventually. I wondered how that would look and now that I see your blanket I see that is a great plan and looks fantastic. Did you join them buy sewing or crochet them together? In the pic it looks like sewing.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today Ginny - Your afghan is so pretty, with a beautiful color combination. It is sad that it wasn't used and loved I'm glad you have it back. Your table runner is cute and looks pretty with the plant on it. I'm glad you have all the blocks done for your PMQ quilt and hope you can get them together soon. Hope you are enjoying your day off. Ruth - I'm glad you finished your neck warmer and hope you enjoy using it. I don't follow football at all, so that's why I never comment on it. But I'm glad you enjoy watching it I worked some on a new quilt this weekend. It uses this jolly bar and pattern: www.fatquartershop.com/i-believe-in-angels-jolly-barI had thought the fabric was more wintery, but when I opened it up I saw it was more Christmas like. But I'm still making it, even if it's past Christmas I also bought a few patterns on Etsy yesterday and I'm testing out a block for one of them. The blocks look like plants in pots and I thought it was cute. I probably wouldn't make the whole large quilt, maybe just a smaller size since I have a fabric that would be great for a border. Here's what the quilt looks like: www.jedicraftgirl.com/2022/09/plant-life-quilt-pattern.htmlHope you all have a great day and that your weather is nice

Good evening,
Ruth, yes you are right I sewed the granny square afghan together and did pretty much follow the pattern for the afghan. I used RH supersaver, its such a soft afghan and I do love it. With a smaller granny square, which honestly looks more like its a 2 1/2 square, its just easier than changing colors. The pattern I used for this called it a quilt afghan, and I do love the way it looks. You should try making a granny project with the squares in a solid color each. It does creat a very different look.
CJ- I hope that you do go ahead and make that jolly bar quilt. The fabric is so cute! It will be ready for next Christmas if you make it now.The plants and pots project is adorable, and I hope you make that also. It would be easy to make a smaller quilt either a table top or a wall hanging or even a lap quilt. A nice spring time look for sure. You have fabric for a border, but do you have to buy the fabric for the blocks?
It’s definitely a bit cooler here today, but the weather is still pretty good. I did get for a walk this afternoon with my friend, and I’m looking forward to hopefully quiet evening.
Phyl and Sue hope to see you checking in with us this week.

CJ, that Christmasy quilt really is cute. I like it a lot. I hope you will make it and have it for next Christmas. You will then have that wintry quilt and a spring one with the plants which is really nice too. Will you be using the same color combos? Are you buying the kit for the Christmas one or do you have fabric that you will use?
Ginny, now you've inspired me to make an afghan with solid color blocks. I was just rummaging in my craft room and found a granny square afghan that I started for a friend that I used to also work with. I't's just one large granny square but I never finished it because my friend passed away. It's about baby blanket size but I made it with #5 chunky yarn so it's heavy. I'll put an edging on it and donate it somewhere so that someone can enjoy it.I'm glad you were able to get your walk in. You are sure good at keeping up your walks. I'm also glad you were able to finish the PMQ blocks and are ready to start planning the rest of this project. I love your plant.I keep thinking of plants I had back in NY that we don't seem seem to be able to get here but I do have plenty of houseplants. My favorite is cyclamen but it would never survive being left alone while we were away. It needs frequent watering at least here where it's so dry.
Oh and I got out that baby blanket I started back when you, Ginny, were making the same one for your dgd#2. I'm going to work on it at least in between other smaller projects. There are so many things I want to make but I'd also love to finish all my UFO's.

I really like those large granny square afghans! Never thought I would and then someone made one when DGD#1 was born. Its so very pretty. When I was going through my mom’s crocheting items, I found this little booklet that has maybe 5 or 6 granny square afghans, but with very different designs. That is where I got the baby afghan pattern from (which I think is a beautiful pattern). There is another pattern in that book that I would like to make. Like I need another project to make. Ha ha ha.
Ruth, love the idea of finishing off that chunky granny square afghan to donate. Good for two reasons, it gets a UFO finished and is a blessing to someone else. Do you have any plans for that baby afghan that you are planning to finish? Its such a sweet pattern and works up so beautifully.
CJ- what will you be working on today?? My area is in for some rain on Thursday (sounds like a full day of rain also). Is that supposed to fall in your area also?
Gotta look online for a PMQ (puzzle mystery quilt) that you make with your own fabric/ a fabric of your own choice. I think I would like to try that someday, perhaps find a jelly roll or layer cake that I really like and embark on a project like that. Like I said before, I really need another project. Once I complete the PMQ I know where I am going next and will work on one of the two 3 yard Fabric Cafe quilts that I have the supplies for. One of them is a Christmas quilt, and I would love to have a Christmas quilt for next year.
Have an awesome day!!!
Phyl and Sue- hope winter is treating both of you kindly.

Good afternoon all.I hope you're all having a good day. It's cold here today and we had some snow but not all that much. Ginny, they say in the crochet groups that granny squares are becoming very popular again. There are a lot of patterns and video's being posted and mentioned. I don't know what I'll do with this blanket but I'm thinking that I'll probably keep it and give to the next grandchild that has a baby. I was surprised to see how much of it I had done. I am going to make it a little bit longer then put on a border and it will be a nice size. When I got it out yesterday I went to look up the pattern you sent me via email and it said that the pattern couldn't be accessed so I must have downloade it to the computer that we left in Indiana. Luckily I put notes in the bag with the unfinished blanket telling what hook I used but not much more than that. I thought it had a row of sc between the rows of the sc and dc so I did one and saw that it didn't belong. I looked closely at the stitches and figured out the stitch pattern. So I don't know the size it was intended to be or what border they suggested but that's fine because I rarely follow those little things in a pattern So speaking of unfinished items, did you ever finish the embroidered pillow cases? They sounded so pretty and I believe you said there were butterflies CJ,how are things with you today.? It has to be fun looking through all your fabric. I know it is for me to look through all my yarn...well until I get panicked about getting it used I was really happy when I realized that this blanket will be finished soon and am looking forward to working on the next unfinished project..so now I'm going to get coffee and crochet some more

Hello - Hope everyone is well today and your weather is nice. It was rainy and cold here today but supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Of the few crochet items I've made, probably half of them have been large granny squares. I found them easier to make than the separate squares you had to combine. The jolly bar and pattern I put a link to is the one I bought, so I'm working on that with the same fabrics shown. I had to go out today so I didn't get any quilting done but I have the rows ready to sew together. I did make a test block of the planter quilt yesterday and the block came out nice and wasn't difficult. I have a fabric I'd like to use for the border of that quilt so I'll pick fabrics from my stash to match for the plant container and plants. Hope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

CJ- think we all have the same experience, going out to run errands means that only minimal or no crafting takes place. So glad to hear that you are pleased with your test block for the planter quilt. It’s a lovely quilt, and will be lovely no matter what you do with it- lap quilt, wall hanging whatever. Have fun picking out fabrics that will work well with the border you have selected. You had mentioned that the fabrics you ordered were more Christmassy than you originally thought. I am sure it will be a sweet quilt and hope that it makes you smile next Christmas. Yes, granny squares are a bit of work, having to sew or crochet them together. But they can create interesting afghans, very pretty and an easy way to vary color from square to square if a square is all the same color. The large granny square afghans are nice and work up well with a variegated yarn.
Ruth, yes I finished the butterfly pillow cases, think I finished them while my DH was still here. They are very cheery and colorful. My DSIL in Fl gave me some pillow cases to embroider, I figure I will make them for one of my DD’s, an easy portable project that does not take much time. I will get the pattern out for the baby afghan and send you a copy again. It’s an easy and pretty pattern. I just have to remember if it’s upstairs with my quilting patterns or down stairs. Nice to hear that granny squares are coming back.! This booklet my mom had, has some gorgeous patterns in it, all variations of a granny square.
Got an interesting phone call as I was heading quickly into the store. The woman who sold me my Husqvarna (she had her own business then and now sells machines in Joanns) called me, asking if I would accept some fabric from her (for free). She used to sell some fabric in her shop and she said she remembered that I like civil war reproduction fabrics, and these are in that category. So sweet of her to remember me- and I will be getting those fabrics this weekend.
Ruth, gonna go look for that pattern…. g

Ginny, thank you so much!!! The pattern came through wonderfully clear and I just needed to enlarge it so I could see the print and it was very clear when enlarged also. And how wonderful that that woman remembered you and that you liked Civil War reproduction fabric and is going to give it to you! I can see lots more quilting in your future. CJ, yes sometimes we're forced into doing necessary chores which takes us away from crafting. I just found out that dh wants to shop and take care of a couple errands on thurs and then his doctor app't Friday so two days of none or very little crafting. We need to win a lottery or something so that we can hire someone to do chores and errands for us but that's not likely to happen and I probably wouldn't and you either, trust anyone else with our errands. And I never buy lottery tickes
