Happy Monday!!! Wish I could say I got a lot of crafting done today, but I did not. Got a walk in this am, made a batch of meatballs and sauce, and most importantly got all my paperwork done and put together for my income taxes. So not really the day I wanted, but certainly got stuff done that needed to be done.
I certainly do feel as though I am getting a cold- that really does not make me happy. But with a week off, well it’s a good time to recuperate if I am not feeling 100%.
I did check out a quilting blog or two today, so I guess that counts as my crafting. G

It sounds like you got a lot accomplished today, Ginny. You might not have actually embroidered or quilted but you did get things done.
Dh and I went to Walmart to use up the rest of his monthly allotment of funds from the advantage plan he has. The store was packed. I guess they might have been shopping before the big storm but there always seems to be quite a lot of people in the stores when we go. Our whole town has only 50,000 people and we have plenty of stores two of which are Walmarts.
The car dealer's service manager called while we were gone and left a message and also sent an email saying that he's apologizing for the issues I had with them not or seeming not to address all the points in the MPI while I was there and he would be happy to send someone to pick up my car and take to the dealer and have all those things done. I'm not sure I really WANT to do that because they might actually find something wrong and then I'd have to pay for having whatever is involved and end up paying for it
I didn't get too much done on my little sweater yesterday because one of the grandaughters sent me and email with a pattern attached and asked me if I could make her that hat. So I made the hat and put edging on the sweater. Today I'll do the sweater sleeves and it will be done.Next I want to make another little sweater so that I can get in some practice making very small things.Or maybe I'll make some more little hats or some little socks.Ginny, I did use baby yarn but everytime I use it I think of how much thicker it is than the old baby yarns years ago. They were more like #1 or 2 and now baby yarns, for the most part are #3.I still have some of the old stuff from many years ago. I probably should use it for something.

Hello I just had a post here and lost it when I accidentally closed out my internet connection Sorry, but I don't feel like trying to recreate it so I'll just say that I hope you are doing well and I'll try to post again tomorrow. Take care

something like that happened to me yesterday, CJ, I didn't close anything though but when I came back later my post wasn't there.
On the local news this evening they mentioned people preparing for the "big storm". Well we've already had big storms this year so I don't know why the rush to the store. I guess for things that don't last like bread and milk. I didn't shop because of the storm, I have powdered milk and also some bread in the freezer plus I could bake bread....as long as the electricity stays on. Bad thing about this storm is we're to have what they say is going to be severe wind with it.

Ruth, hope that you made it through the night and kept your power. I just checked the weather on my phone for your area and it sure does look like you will be getting a lot of snow and wind- saw the word blizzard conditions in the write up. Perhaps that explains why it seemed like half the world was in your local store. Like you, I have powdered milk (I also keep a can or two of condensed milk) and usually have some bread in the fridge also. Anyway, stay safe, and I pray that whatever storm you encounter does not interfere with appointments that you and Dh have to keep. Funny that you mention the size of baby yarn. I have the two sweaters knitted by my mom 35 years ago, and the baby yarn appears to be tiny, and honestly a thickness I would not want to work with. Mind you I am not a fan of working with the super thick yarns either I guess I just like a standard worsted weight yarn - not too thick or thin. Anyway, I love it that your grandkids are placing orders for hats from you.
Well for the convenience factor, I guess it’s nice that the dealership is offering to take your car and complete the items not completed the other day. I suppose it all depends upon how much you trust this dealership and how important these items are for keeping a warrantee active. I might be tempted to let them have the car for the day with the condition that they only work on the scheduled maintenance items and any additional repairs MUST be authorized by you or Dh.
CJ- that does stink that your post was lost into never never land.Looking forward to catching up with you when you get a chance to post again.
Got errands to run this am. When I get home I hope to get back to the PMQ

Well right now it's 40 degrees at 11am but the temp is going to fall fast as it is very gray out and I can't see snow coming this way. The wind is strong and blowing the storm in. So no going out or having anyone pick up my car. I do trust this dealership and have had excellent service up to now. They never work on anything they find without telling you about it and asking if you want it done so I wouldn't mind them taking my car but right at this time I just don't want to add anything else to my "worry bank"
Ginny, I imagine you're home from your errands. I hope you have a chance to work on your PMQ and whatever else you might enjoy.
CJ, I hope you can post today without it going to cyberspace. Last evening I worked on little crochet socks so the sleeves on the sweater are still not done but hopefully today although I should get busy and do my tax.

Hello Ruth - I hope you will not lose power from the wind, it looks like it will be bad there. Stay safe Ginny - Hope your errands went well and you get to work on your quilt. The problem I have when I accidentally close out the internet is that sometimes I save pictures or files to my desktop on my computer but they aren't regular jpeg or pdf files, they are web files - so when I click on them they open a web page. If I don't check for that and then close that web page out, it closes all the tabs (pages) I have open at that time. That's what happened to me yesterday. I did get all the sashing rows and 4 patch rows sewn together on my quilt and they are pinned ready to sew together. I went out this morning to run errands and I also needed to go to Costco to pick up some things. I only go there every 2-3 months, but it's nice to stock up on stuff and save some money. I doubt I'll work on the quilt again today, since going out wears me out. Pat Sloan's next block for the Holiday Hoopla quilt along came out today so I need to figure out what color fabrics I'm going to use for this one. Take care!

I think most times the weather forecasters just make a guess at what is going to happen. Now they've changed from winter weather advisory to blizzard warnings. In all the time we've lived here we've never had blizzard warnings. The "blizzards" usually come after the snow stops and the wind starts blowing the snow. It's still 39 degrees but next two days will be high of 4 then high of 3. They say we will get 10 to 15 inches of snow. I'll believe it when I see it because they've been wrong on their predictions all winter so far.I've always said that Feb is our worst month here. I did some cooking and cleaning and am ready for the storm
CJ, we don't have a Costco here just a Sam's club which I haven't been to in years. My son and his family have a costco near so they go there often.Yes going out exhausts me too so I can relate to not wanting to work on our crafts afterward.

Good evening,
CJ, glad that you got your errand done at Costcos. I have never been in one but have heard nothing but good. Its frustrating when you lose a post, I have something similar happen when I visit other websites in the middle of posting here. Good to hear that you got the sashing rows and 4 block rows together ready to be sewn.tomorrow is another day to sew them.
Ruth, it is indeed starting to sound like a serious storm for you. I will pray for your safety and that you do not lose power. You’ve been through storms like this before, and I’m sure are well prepared to handle it.
Today went pretty well, but I am in the middle of having a cold. I got some embroidery done this morning, my errands went well, but they took a little longer than I had hoped. And I worked on the PMQ. I’ll have to make some adjustments to the border because I don’t like the way that’s fitting. I can’t wait to be done with that project. I am heading up to the quilt shop tomorrow with Jane. He’s the one that needs some thing. I’m just going along for the ride and because I have a coupon.
Hope everyone sleeps well tonight
Sue and Phyl hope you both check in and are doing well.

For as crummy as I felt last night, I wish I could say I slept well. My tax preparer called me last night- and I had only dropped my tax materials off yesterday morning. She had a few questions, but they are done and I will sign off on the forms in the next 3 days. She called a little after 9- which sure seemed late and did wake me up. Oh well.
Ruth- just checked your weather and it does sure look like you are in for a very cold and snowy day. Again, I hope you stay safe and keep your power.
CJ- well you do not have blizzard conditions in your forecast. How has it been keeping your home comfortable this more gentle winter? I figure today you will be putting that quilt with the 4 patch rows together
I go back and forth on this darned PMQ. I have now found 3 problems with the directions so far, two just involved me buying much more backing fabric than I needed, and the other is the size of the binding, which I can compensate for. I won’t do this again and have a mental debate going with myself if I should even finish it.
Yesterday when I was leaving for my errands I offerred a ride into the village for a neighbors adult son- who I figured was going to work. (He was) And during that I found out that his mom is expecting- TWINS!. Wow…nice family and I wonder if I should make baby quilts for the little ones - due in July. There is a super simple minky quilt/blanket that Jane has made several of and they go quickly. I wonder if I should consider doing that.
Heading to the quilt shop with Jane later on if she still wants to go. We are supposed to get some snow/rain later today but not a lot at all G

Yes I bet CJ is busy working on putting those blocks together. I'm glad you're not having bad weather, CJ and that your furnace is keeping you comfortable.
Ginny, I love those quilts with minky and I do think that you should make one for each twin. However, once people see the beautiful quilts they may start asking you to make some for them. Most people would be extremely grateful for quilts for baby. I'm sorry about the directions on your PMQ. I seriously dislike when we're making something and realize there's a mistake in the pattern/directions. Have a good outing with Jane and I hope you buy something nice with your coupon.
I don't think we got all that much snow so far. I can't see well out the windows because they're all frosted. I did look out the door and my gas grill on the deck has about 12 inches of snow on top of it but it doesn't look like there's that much on the ground. It's cold though and windy. Tonight, since you have that weather info for my area, Ginny, you already know it's to get to -15 degrees or lower depending on what weather app you have.
I worked on another hat last night. I thought I didn't have enough yarn to finish it but it turned out that I had plenty and I had made three too many rows so it was way too large.Ripped out those rows and it's good now. I used two strands of yarn held together to make a bulkier hat and it is one that you make flat and sew the sides together. I don't sew though I slip stitch sides. Just a basic ribbed hat made lengthwise but that's what my dgd wanted. I had made one the other day but then she got back to me on preferred color and she wanted gold.I'll give her both because I think she'll really like the other one too.

Ruth, I hope you and Dh keep power tonight- it’s supposed to be a nasty weather pattern where you are!!!Looks like once you get through today and tomorrow warmer temperatures will arrive. A large part of the country is impacted by this nasty storm, which I will only see a small portion of. My Ds will have to drive into it tomorrow as he heads to work. That is happy news to hear that you had enough yarn to finish the hat!!! Glad you were able to make the hat that DGD wanted, and that you had the gold yarn she wanted.
By the way, I you’re weather Ruth, and my friend Chris’s weather in my phone. My friend Chris lives in Gaithersburg and I do not think that is going to be terribly different than the weather CJ sees.
Yes, got to the quilt shop and HL with Jane. Without going up with a project, I did not want to buy anything, so I used my coupons on batting. The quilt shop batting is over priced but with the coupons it comes down to a reasonable price.
This cold is regretfully starting to result into a hacking cough. I hope I can keep that from happening. Looks like I will be drinking a lot of herbal tea with honey tonight.

The only bad thing about the warmer days coming up is that wind also becomes stronger and makes the drifts that are actually more problematic.
I'm sorry to hear that you have this cold and that it seems to be getting worse with that cough. Yes Herbal tea with honey is a great way to soothe the throat.
It looks like Phyl has given up on us. I know she used to participate in a lot of threads on the over 60's portion of the board. I'd bet she's still there but I haven't been in that section in ages.
I'm trying to convince myself to get back to the baby sweater and do the sleeves which is all that's left to do.I also started to make a list of what I want to crochet next but I got distracted by remembering I had to send an email and also a Facebook pm.

Hello Ginny - I'm sorry to hear you are still not feeling well. Hope the tea with help with your cough. I'm glad you were able to go to the quilt shop and HL, and bought some batting. Sorry to hear that the PMQ quilt is giving you so many problems. I hope you can decide to finish it or put it aside. I think the baby quilts sound like they would be fun to make. Hope you don't get much, or any, of the bad weather. Ruth - I hope the wind and snow doesn't cause any problems for you. Hope you will be able to stay safe and warm. I'm glad you finished the hat for your DGD, it will be nice that she'll get two hats The weather here was a bit cooler today and cloudy, tomorrow it's supposed to get almost up to 80 degrees! Crazy weather But at least I'm not getting any of the snow/ice. My furnace keeps the house comfortable enough when the temperatures stay around 50 or higher (even high 40s), so I'll probably be O.K. for the rest of the winter now. It's been tiring dealing with it this winter. I finished piecing the center of the quilt together and added the small inner border. I order fabric for the outer border and I'm just waiting for it to get here so I can add that and be finished with this top. I'm really happy with how it's coming out. I like the fabrics in the blocks and I'm glad I was able to use them in this quilt. I'm working on figuring out what fabrics I'll use for the two Pat Sloan patterns that come out this week. I hope to work on them the next few days since I'd really like to do that machine quilting this weekend, or at least finish it by the end of the month. Take care everyone
