There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather It's cooler here, so I'm happy about that. Ginny - I'm glad you are well, sounds like it was a very busy weekend for you. I'm glad you were able to make some progress on the baby quilt. Hope the day goes well with your grandkids. I added three borders to the Walk About quilt - two small inner ones and a larger outer one. Ruth - Hope you are working on some fun crochet projects. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. I decided on the fabrics for borders for the Tumbler quilt - a small white inner border and a larger black (with speckles of color) outer border and got the fabrics cut for them this morning. I also starched and pressed them and just need to sew the strips together and then get them on the quilt. I also finally decided I am going to participate in the jelly roll quilt along at Coriander Quilts so I ordered one of her jelly rolls and some coordinating fabrics today. I'll be a bit behind but once I get the fabrics I'll work on them and get caught up. Take care and have a good day!

CJ, I'm sure you'll have no problem at all catching up on that QAL. And I'm glad you were able to make a decision on the fabric for the tumbler blocks. It was slightly warmer here today than yesterday but still not up to what I like. In a couple days, though, it's to be in the 80's and high humidity which will cause it to be very uncomfortable. See, I'm never satisfied.
I did work on some crocheting today and straightened out my little stash. I ran out of the pink I was using on one of my current blankets in progress but luckily it's RHSS so I can get some(if they have the color and shade I need) tomorrow at Walmart. I'll work on either the second blanket this evening or the other bootie for the pair.I also need some white baby yarn or actually any 3 weight white yarn so I'll look for that too but when we were there last week I didn't really see any of that weight yarn except in Bernat Baby sport and I don't want to buy a skein that large so I may have to either order some or maybe just wait.
Have a good evening or what's left of it.

CJ- the way you are able to make short work of quilts I am sure you will very quickly be able to catch up on the jelly roll quilt along. I hope that they ship quickly and that you are able to get to the same place as the rest of the instructions and proceed without being behind. You are working on a lot of different projects but there seem to be less QALs with weekly new blocks. Think last year you had 3 of them going at once- how you kept the quilts separate from each other and the blocks and each time table apart was pretty amazing. Sounds like you are taking on new projects because you seem inspired to make them instead of the weekly grind of new blocks. Bet the 3 borders on the walk about quilt are stunning- that is usually such a pretty look (not something I would do on a baby quilt which has a more utilitarian function). Glad you got the borders ready for the tumbler quilt, so when you are ready to sew them on you will be able to do so.
Busy day with little ones.
Ruth, hope you had a great day and got some crochet time in!!! G

Ruth our paths crossed and we were posting at the same time. Were you able to get to Walmart and get the color pink yarn you need? Looks like you are going tomorrow to check it out. I know sometimes you can see inventory at a walmart from their web site. Hope you are able to get the white yarn you are looking for also. I wonder if there is another Walmart that can help you too- in my area there are 2 Walmarts that are almost equidistant from me, and two more that are only a few minutes further.

the Walmart visit will be tomorrow (Tues). We have two Walmarts that aren't a horrible distance away. They both are about 25 miles away. One has an extremely small yarn department and the one we'll go to tomorrow has a yarn department that is somewhat better with more yarn choices. I'll look on their online site and see if I can find an inventory. Thanks for mentioning that.

Not saying that Walmarts online inventory is always accurate- but I guess u stand a chance of it being correct. Of course now you have been there- and we’re either successful or not at getting yarn. You could attempt to order the yarn (which appears to be in stock) for curbside pick up - and the store will let you know if they do not have the actual inventory. 25 miles is a long drive if they do not have what you want. I hope that you are able to quickly and easily get your yarn.
Babysitting today. So that means I was able to think about quilting but get none done. I was looking forward to being home all day and then work called me begging me to work tomorrow for a few hours. I agreed to a short route.
Cj - hope you were able to get some machine time in today!
Cool here and damp. I started up my stove. So comfy

I typed out my message but my laptop went dead and didn't even tell me the battery was getting low. Today was an exhausting day with long trip to Home Depot again. It took awhile to pick out all the things we needed. We didn't even get to Walmart because we had two other places we needed to go.So I didn't get my yarn.I have another plan for finishing that blanket though.
Ginny, It sounds like you had a busy day too with babysitting.I'm sorry you won't have the day off tomorrow that you thought you would have since your employers obviously know a good employee when they have one and know who to call.
CJ, I hope you had a good day
See you all tomorrow

Good morning- Ruth, that stinks that your errand to HD took so much time and energy. Do you have an “easy” day today to recover from yesterday’s adventures? What is your plan to finish the afghan??
CJ- what are you working on? Hope that you have decent weather…and are getting done what you want.
I slept a bit late today and am enjoying a quiet morning. As soon as I hit “send” my plan is to start work on the quilt sandwich.
Hope you both have a good day!!! Phyl, how is your medical testing going? I pray that you are feeling well and getting good answers to your health. GInny

Hello Ruth - Sorry you didn't make it to Walmart, but I'm glad you have another plan for the blanket. Those large hardware stores are exhausting aren't they? I went in Lowe's today and walked over trying to find things. Ginny - Hope you can get your quilt sandwich together and I'm glad you are enjoying a nice day at home. I went out shopping this morning and was glad to get back home. They are doing road construction on the road I live on and between that and the traffic it's exhausting to drive anywhere I finished getting the borders on my tumbler quilt, so that's all done. I found another project to start with a jelly roll and matched up the strips to make the strip set. I decided I wanted some of the matching fabric for the sashing and outer border, so I ordered that online today. Here are a few links: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o_vg8jO56Y - Jelly Roll Jamboree tutorial - one version www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjjH46NYH0w&t=53s - Jelly Roll Jamboree tutorial - another version www.fatquartershop.com/amelias-blues-jelly-roll - Jelly roll I'm using The next Pat Sloan block came out today, so I need to work on that. It's block #16 of 18 blocks, so the end is getting near. I do think I'll take a break from weekly quilt alongs then. But I may change my mind On her website today she has a block pattern for a crown block (in honor of the upcoming Coronation) and a pattern to make 4 blocks into a small wallhanging. I might pull some fabrics and make this one: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2023/04/sweet-childhood-memories-16-celebrate-the-coronation-.html - scroll down to see the purple and yellow/gold crown block. Take care!

Ginny, I'm glad you are having a quieter day and will be able to work on your sandwich. I hope doing it goes well.I can't wait to see a picture of them.
CJ, I like the colors of the jelly roll you indicated that you were going to use. I don't care too much for the pinkish one that the person shown on that link used. Yes Lowe's is as bad as Home Depot. I really don't like going to home improvement stores at all. There are no Lowe's or Menard's close to my location and Home Depot is my least favorite of them all.I asked an empoyee where I could find garden rakes. She pointed just in a general location and said "over there" I finally had to ask another employee.
I ended up not doing any crocheting yesterday. This morning I did finish one fingerless glove I decided to make to use up some of the yarn I have here and to take a break from blankets. I started the second one. They're really pretty and are also easy. This evening I'll work on a blanket. So far today it's been cleaning and laundry. I have more cleaning to do but may wait until tomorrow. It will still be here.

Laundry and housework are so patient and they do wait for you!
CJ- bet you are relieved that the borders are on the tumbler quilt! I think the coronation crown block is adorable and of course the purple and gold color scheme is perfect. I cannot imagine making a coronation quilt…But I bet there are many who will be doing that. Some of these home improvement stores are just awfully organized. I tried to find a specific flowering shrub for my DSIL and DBIL when I visited them a year ago. I did ask in Lowes….and all they did was point across the store “over there if we have any”. Well after wading through the nursery I did find some plants and exactly what I was looking for- pretty much all by myself. That sure stinks that you had an ordeal in Lowes and that it was such a hassle just getting there. The jelly roll jamboree quilt is adorable and a nice way to use a jelly roll. I am glad you ordered more fabric for the quilt for the sashing and border- hope it arrives quickly and you can get started on the quilt.
Ruth, the housework never seems to end, right? Fingerless gloves do go quickly and are a great way to use up small amounts of yarn. Think I am losing track…how many afghans are you working on? As far as home improvement stores go, I use a My Lowes card (sort of like a frequent shopper card) but its interesting that they usually send me an email a day or so later to see how I felt about the store and how employees treated me. Honestly, I usually have a field day and am painfully honest. They do need to hear that most of the time good service is not provided. Do not have a Menards here, but I do prefer Lowes over Depot. My Dh used to say that Depot was better for plumbing supplies, and Lowes better for most other things.
Got the backing fabric and batting cut for the quilt. Will start assembly tomorrow, as I do not want to do that unless I am feeling well rested.Allergies have been bugging me a bit.

Ginny, well it sounds like you had the same problem at Lowes as I had at HD...an employee just pointing to a vague location and saying "there'. I think that if I had an employee that treated a customer like that I'd put them on probation just to give them a chance to do better and if there was a next time they would be let go. I guess it's hard to find employees nowdays. Now one wants to work.I'm glad you got the back and batting cut and ready for when you feel better. I'm sorry about all the allergies.
Speaking of allergies, I don't know if that's what I have but It started with red bumps on my face and now has increased on my face and is on my neck, upper chest and strangely on the back of one knee. They look like bites but there are no mosquitoes here and I haven't seen tick and even if I did these don't look like tick bites and there are too many of them together. On the back of my knee it looked and felt like about 50 bites. I was doing that yard work the other day but I didn't see anything that I recognized and poison ivy, poison oak, sumac or any plant. And now it's spreading and is itchy. I've been using hydrocortisone cream but it hasn't helped so far. I even looked it up online and didn't see anything that suggests what this is.

Ruth, I will be praying for you that this rash or whatever it is goes away….would you consider taking benadryl? Do you think that is appropriate?
