Deb, thanks so much--yes he is coming here--will have home health care three days a week for PT and personal hygeine--his wife and DGS and the dogs all here as well--full house so to speak! They may just stay and be our house sitter and cat sitters until we return from NYC on the 29th which is close to when he will need to see the neurosurgeon for another CT scan---at first I was stressing out big time, but am realizing that it may actually work out well and DH could travel with me---we will see. He was going to still have a pain shot in the night last night---our biggest fear is night time and having the pain get out of control of the oral meds--but the nurse said we are getting a few days of an oral version of his shot so she said it is all about staying on top of it while it is so intense--the nine ribs are the biggest pain producer along with the broken shoulder blade since nothing can be done but wait to heal. One of the dogs just ate all the cat food---geez--will be a little adjustment time to get on top of all of this-- I weighed in and lost 2.7 pounds the first week of My Fitness Pal tracking (and I think it is real as it was that way for 3 days) I am working toward meeting the nutritional goals now---have not been getting enough fat and protein--finally got enough protein yesterday and close on the fats. So obviously carbs are my nemesis . Going to pilates and yoga today in an hour---DH heading to hospital---I will stay and get a decent dinner organized---I don't think DS is getting enough protein for good healing. JoAnne we have LED everywhere now--even our yard and patio lights are either solar or LED--so much less output of heat and longer lasting and cheaper to burn. I have not even turned on the tv since Thursday, Sue, but I read on line and like you, it is frightening to me. Haven't been reading either---hope to get in some kind of routine around here that works again. But am so proud of my continued exercise and tracking--- DH and I were married 35 years ago yesterday---hard to believe that--seems as tho it went both slow and fast at the same time! DGS16 back to big issues---wants to quit counseling and meds---moved in with his dad--being defiant to mom who finally put her foot down and said go to school or give up the keys. He admitted he has experinented with all kinds of drugs--it is just so sad to see this kid work on self destruction and think he's got better answers that anyone else. What a waste. So, so sad.

Deb - no intrusion! Glad you are joining us some times. Drop by any time, love to have you!
I found out that the fan in the hall bath will come one but only when the dimmer on the light is turn only on bright. Guess I won't call him back.
Lazy morning. I am committing to you to get back to my exercise - starting this morning.
Rain continuing here. I think we are going to float away. But my grass sure is green!
Good progress on the little silk lace top that I am crocheting. It is the most fun thing I've crocheted in a while. I think I enjoy crochecting with thread more than with yarn because of the lacy look you get and the light wt.
Joan - keep us posted on your son's progress. Is Physical therapy coming to the house also?
Holly - I don't remember seeing how your Greensboro trip went. May have just missed it.
Trying to get the house cleaned up from last week. All the beds have to be changed and linens washed ofcourse as well as the the bathrooms cleaned. I love the new lighting. I guess now the next project is the tile in the baths and cabintry there.
I'm thinking about getting my hair cut very short for summer - with the back and sides tappered - only having to "fix" the top.

Joan - I somehow missed the 2nd page when I posted and now I see your answer to the PT question. Congratulations on the wt. loss!
Got to go take DH to pick up his car at the auto repair place so he can go to play Bridge. He is still playing with the group at the old church.

JoAnne, I think I would call the electrician anyway---that means that they connected some wires together that shouldn't be as the reostat should not affect the fan in any way.

Hi all,
I'm on the train to Charlotte. It was a great trip. On Sunday I took the train to Greensboro and stayed with my aunt. Got to see my cousin and her family also. There was a Parisian festival thing in the park that we went to. Yesterday, I took the train to Durham, then met up with a friend for lunch and went to my appointment. My ears feel so much better. They changed some settings to help with discomfort that I had with certain sounds. This morning I went to UNC to run an errand, and got to walk through some of my favorite spots on campus like the arboretum.
I felt fully independent taking the bus or walking everywhere.
Joan, where does DS live? Hope the pain can be managed. I'm really sorry to hear that about DGS. From what you've written before, he's always had a good head on his shoulders. I hope that thing will get better soon.
JoJo, I'm working on some pocket prayer shawls for this new ministry at church that gives care bags for cancer patients. Much less time comsuming than full sized shawls. The rain has helped our area tremendously as well.

Hi!
Joan, does your DIL have to take off from work? The pain sounds terrible. Congratulations on your anniversary. SO and I will be together 30 years in Nov, and yes time is flying by. Sorry to hear about your DGS16, my nephews at around this age went through a period of not listening to my sister, the complications that your DGS is going through must make it worse.
Jojo, you've been so busy with guests! I agree with Joan, the brightness should not have an affect on the fan turning on.
Holly, great that the hearing is better. Do you think someday you could live in a city where you can walk/take public transportation, also have the option of joining more groups and meeting people?
Yesterday the photographer came and started taking photos of SO's art. He's taken over the foyer where we have the greatest amount of open space. He brought in 2 car loads of equipment and built up a high stand where he mounts his camera. There are also poles where he mounted 4 tall tungston lights, really bright. The artwork is placed on the ground, and he works/adjusts the camera settings on his laptop. SO is working with him switching out the paintings. He's here today and tomorrow as well. Hopefully that's it but they started off on smaller easier to photo art, they haven't started on the big stuff.
My weight is still 124, and I'm actually walking more, up to 5.5 miles per day on the treadmill - I've been watching House of Cards on my phone while walking.

Sue, never say never, but a likely scenario it to get a house within walking distance of the university in a few years. The town is smaller, but I'd have better access to more things I need regularly.

Thanks for the advice about the fan. I' ll call them in the morning.
Congratulations to you Joan and Sue on your relationship anniversaries! We celebrate our 50th in two years. Boy does time fly! I am feeling old when I look in the mirror now.
Got my hair cut really short today. Hope I'm going to like it. Right now I can't do any thing with it.

Hello all! Joan- it might just work out, glad you have enough space for everyone! Holly- I go back and forth between wanting our next house in the middle of nowhere and where I can walk everywhere lol Our house now I can realistically walk to many things within 30 minutes so it is nice, just wish some parts of town were "better"
Had a busy weekend with the dogs birthday (had 8 people over for his party! He enjoyed his hotdogs and cupcake) Then on monday I went on a hike in Sonoma with a friend. Its a nice sized rural park in the middle of Sonoma and a winery has a villa in the center! So after a little more then an hour of hiking we did a fantastic wine tasting. Grilled a few chicken breasts tonight with a bit of bbq sauce so I have those to eat this week. Eating has been hard this past week since my best friend is moving middle of this month and we are spending a lot of time together and going out to do things one last time.

Hi, Aimee---where is your friend moving? Hate it when that happens.
DS park ranger is here---totally stressed out---the pharmacy took so long to fill the pain meds that his pain got ahead of him. We worked hard to get him comfortable in bed and suddenly we heard the door and he was up----oh my, it's going to be a challenge----he gets so stressed. He has always been such an uptight person. OH my.
Made a nice dinner tonight. Filet Mignon, baked potato, caprese salad, steamed brocolli, watermelon. Tracked all my food again today and I got over on fat and protein and under on carbs for the first time--one of these days I will get it just right.
DGS16 was over here to see his uncle (came with his mom actually) and I took him outside and used the flashlight on my phone to show him my tomatoes---he couldn't believe what I am growing ---they are so big it;s amazing. And now there are probably 40-50 tomatoes on each of the two romas! One tomatoe is as big as an orange. They have not started to turn color yet--we have been eating the cherry tomatoes which are also way way bigger---about 1-2 inches in diameter. They are so sweet -- even DGS's who don't like tomatoes tried my caprese and loved it.
Holly it sounds as though you had such a nice trip---that is good.
Must go to bed---it's late and I am so tired. DS went back to bed. We fixed up an air bed on the floor for DDIL to be able to sleep in there with him---he has to get up at 1:30 for pain meds and muscle relaxer.

Joan - glad that your DS and DDIL are there with you. The tomatoes sound yummy. I LOVE Romas - they are my favorite. And Caprese salad is also my favorite salad.
I called the electrician and he is coming out either tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning.
Did washing and ironing today but still have more to do.
Have been feeling lonely today - realizing that everyone is gone home. Called a few local friends to chat and have been watching ME TV - old shows for the nostalgia!

Hi!
It's been rainy and dreary here for days.
The photographer finished yesterday afternoon, it was a ton of work. A gallery owner came over yesterday morning to see SO's work, and liked it but gave more suggestions. There is so much abstract work out there, that SO needs really to market himself and create "buzz". Once we get the images of his work, SO will contact someone to create a web site for him.
Aimee, sounds like a good party! What is the name of the winery? I hate when good friends move away. I hope your BF is not moving too far away.
Joan, is your DGS16 still in conflict with his mom? I hope your DS is managing the pain better now.
Jojo, always a little let down when loved ones leave.
Not much going on here, typical chores and gym. Need to get the car washed today, it's so dirty. Weight has not budged.

Sue - Sounds like your SO is getting some good advice from the gallery owner. Hope that it helps move some of his work.
Holly -your trip sounds like you had a great time. Good that you felt so comfortable getting around
Aimee - saw your post on FB about the party you had for your dogs birthday. What a fun thinig to do and everyone must have had a great time!
The electrician came back today and fixed the problem with the fan in the bath. Glad everyone told me that this wasn't right!
Worked in the yard all morning, The temp was comfortable and so was I. Nice to have some sunshine for a change instead of rain.
Exercises done day before yesterday and today; so getting back to it but not in full swing. Will have DGS4 tomorrow;so will try to do them before he gets here.
Did not really eat healthy tonigiht. Had left over cheese pizza from all the grandkids.

Hi!
Beautiful day here, finally a nice sunny day and low humidity.
Everyone must be busy.
Yesterday I went to school to try to talk to a teacher that I knew was teaching (they tend to have the same schedule every quarter). Ended up talking to him and ran into another teacher as well and talked to her. Wanted to get their advice on what I should do. Kicked around some ideas. I'm planning on getting together with both of them sometime soon to discuss further.
Saw some of my classmates that I started with as well. Cool to see them, a lot of them will be graduating in Sept.
Not doing too well with no snacking so weight is not budging.
Joan, hope your DS is coping ok with the pain.
Jojo, great that you got the fan problem fixed. I think we got the sunshine today that you had yesterday.
No special plans, just usual household stuff, gym.

Hello everyone. Sorry I have been so absent but busy trying to keep up my gym classes, manage more hospital visits (will explain in a minute) and provide large healthful dinners for everyone.
DS getting better daily---he sleeps on a recliner DH went and bought with electrical controls (got it on sale half price and they will buy and take home with them) and that is working way better. Getting up off the flat bed is too painful with the ribs. In process of weaning off pain meds and doing pretty well. He walked around one block today also.
Day after he was out I got a call from my cousin from Utah---she was in vegas in the same hospital---ambulanced in because of serious dizzy spells that literally required her to crawl to the neighbors for help. Here is the weird Twilight Zone fact---OMG, she was put in DS's hospital room! So I have been going to that. Room now for a week straight! One of the nurses asked what I was doing there! Anyway my cousin knows no one here so I have been going twice a day. She is supposed to be out today and her neighbor is there to drive her home--not out yet tho---waigting for results from last test which was MRI on the brain.
I have the best news tho---through all this I have tracked everything on MF Pal and kept up my classes and even did some floor exercises at home each night---OMG, I am down five pounds total now! I had to increase my fats to make the nutrition right and then started to lose. I can feel it in the waistline especially! Today I did kickboxing a bit of core work on the body roller and then stretching and body rolling. The kickboxing class is the most strenuous one I do---was sweating like crazy! But I like it. Lots of leg work today.
JoAnne, loneliness is always the leftovers of having family visit for me---then after a few days the routine sets back in and I am fine.
I am starting a new book, Happy is the New Healthy---it is written by a yoga teacher from the NWest. A former teacher of mine is taking a class from him in a few weeks when she is officially retired.
Sue, I think it's neat that you met with some of the teachers---they were probably pleased to be approached by you.
Holly, what is going on for you this weekend?
I am sort of tired of cooking meals---made a ton of salmon patties last night---I had one for breakfast and one for lunch today. I could easily just have a salad tonight and call it dinner.
