We are walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and some do other exercise. We set goals and keep track by miles. You can set your goal for any amount, count your miles any way you wish. The goal is consistency with exercise.
We started Jan. 20, 2003 on the WW Challenge Central Board as "250 Miles by June 1" & we've done 50 five-month walking challenges, including the one we finished Jun 1, 2023. You can find us on wwmessageboard.freeforums.net at wwmessageboard.freeforums.net/board/12/challenges
The group challenge is to average about 2 miles a day, 13 miles a week, or 50 miles a month; if you do it, in 5 months you will have walked 250 miles, and if you have stuck with the challenge and a healthy eating program for that 5 months, you will see wonderful changes in your health, fitness, and size!
Some people will finish well before the target date and will go for more or another 250 miles, but others will go at a slower pace, and new members may join along the way, so each member is welcome to set her/his own personal goal and target date. The new group challenge which started Nov 1, 2023, is "250 Miles by April 1, 2024."

Good Morning Challengers Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 17 pts. We walked 2.2 mi. before breakfast. I did 13 mins of PT exercises before dinner 🥳. Jan HH Challenge: - Evening: Snack on Inspo; Read quotes, whys and goals 💚 My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: 💚 - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚 I had 14.8 mi last week and did PT 2 days for a total of 25 mins 🥳. I had 69.3 mi last month. Sis is having her first carpal tunnel surgery this am. The other one will have surgery in a few weeks. I pray she’ll have relief from the pain and regain use of her hands. It’s been raining since early this am. We got over an inch in the first 3 hours and it’s still pouring. The water is over the curb, flooding the parkway where we have grass and two trees, over the sidewalk and coming up our walkway. The street has a high center, deep gutters and high curbs, so it forces the water to the curbs. There’s a drain at the corner, but I think the drainage system is overwhelmed. The back yard lawn is underwater. There’s supposed to be more rain to come tomorrow and next week. A lot more than we’re used to! It’s street sweeping day on our side of the street…. hmmmmm….. we shall see 😆 KELLY - Thanks for the new month start! GFY with the 2 mi Mon, 2.5 mi Tues. So glad you got some rest and even a 1 mi walk Wed after the rough work day Monday with the call-off. And I think we underestimate how much our loved ones’ health problems take out of us. 🤗🙏 MICHELLE - Excellent for you and Clair Sun, Mon, Tues & Wed 💯💯💯💯. I can see how feeling DONE after getting in the activity is motivating, and I love the functional fitness concept - although I don’t do much myself, except that our weekend walks take us to the Farmers Market and our restaurants. That’s interesting how Clair’s PT is helping you get more activity 🐶😍. A blessing in disguise. Yes we’re so fortunate we’ve taken this wellness path. I see how much more I can do than some other people my age. So grateful 🙏. Wow, that’s cool, having walking paths put in. CAROL - GJ with the water classes, lap swim, stretching. Glad you had a nice weekend road trip. Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

I received this February values calendar, about recognizing, practicing and celebrating love and connection in relationships and thought I’d share. Here’s the explanation: “This February, let's cultivate love and connection in our lives. Research shows that strong relationships contribute to both positivity and longevity. The synergy between character strengths and meaningful relationships enhances your ability to recognize strengths in others and cultivate more enjoyable connections with the people in your life.” This is the link if you want to download the calendar: assets.ctfassets.net/ham3h61ph2oq/51tu6oqOw4L9arlUtCAYiP/e8878d646b8edad33e53dece82e4f294/February_2024_Calendar.pdf

Good Morning!!
I added a 2 mile WATP yesterday.
Last night I made roll-out sugar cookies in the shape of a ground hog for my co-workers. I just sprinkled with sugar as time did not allow to decorate them.
Cait: WTG on your good day. Wow, that's a lot of rain.
Thanks for sharing the pictures and the calendar.
I did listen to the youtube segment. Very interesting. I actually was sharing my thoughts on our processed foods with a coworker and few patient as being a good part of what makes us sick and struggle with weight. I was surprised a lot of what I said he mentioned.
Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!

TGIFRIDAY!
KELLY -- good job with your WATP and walking! You are certainly consistent! Thanks for getting us started in February!
CAIT -- we've seen reports on the national news about your rain; hopefully it will soak in and not lead to mudslides. Thanks for the link to the talk; I have it bookmarked for this weekend.
MICHELLE -- excellent work for a great week! Keep it up!
Since Tuesday I've been to water class and I swam laps today, and I stretched both times.

This am I attended my weekly WW virtual meeting - “Want to build a new habit? Start with an old one.” It’s the “piggybacking” technique - use a cue from your current routine, and link it to the new habit you want to build. Good Morning Challengers, Kelly, The cookies sound delightful! Cait, Thanks for all the informative posts and IMO your personal pictures add so much to enjoying the Challengers journey. Carol, Congrats on getting your stretches done. Thursday & Friday 11,797 & 15,112 & Yoga Thursday only = 85% For Clair: Three PT walks X 2, 5 PTs all completed x 2 times daily = 100%. Day 78 today for Clair (# of days since surgery). We are on a time schedule of a six month recovery period. On the 13th we have her surgeon consult to get her xrays etc. I am on a Facebook sight for this surgery and we all support each other which is incredibly helpful. There is a lot of high drama for many of these TPLO surgery dogs, including Clair but that is behind us now . Today there was a little snow which I removed from every single walkway and also the PT equipment that is outside so that she would not have a slipping accident (Yikes). Now it is bright and sun shiny. Hooray!!!

Good Morning Challengers Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💛 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 1 snack, used 32 pts. We walked 2.7 mi after breakfast, to the Farmers Market and to our Sat lunch restaurant for takeout. Jan HH Challenge: - Evening: Snack on Inspo; Read quotes, whys and goals 💚 My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: N - Avoid salted snacks: N - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚 This am it’s not raining yet, it’s mostly going north of us, so DH is willing to walk for our Sunday breakfast 🥳. But I got lots of alerts yesterday about rain coming later today and into Tues. Sandbags and sand to fill them are available at the fire stations. I’m sitting here looking out the front window, and saw a squirrel run up the palm tree carrying some large white material. Then a bit later, I saw the white stuff fall to the ground. 😆 I should be more like the squirrel! Get rid of what I can’t use! I read this interesting article and can share it as a “gift article” so you should be able to read it: How Long Does It Take to Get Fit Again? We all stray from exercise sometimes. Here’s how your body will bounce back.www.nytimes.com/2023/01/30/well/move/fitness-loss-exercise.html?unlocked_article_code=1.SU0.FvLf.DXTzDSAOCqPG&bgrp=g&smid=url-shareMICHELLE - GFY with the 85% day and snow removal, and Clair’s 💯 day. I read about the TPLO surgery and CCL knee ligament rupture in dogs - Wow! I never knew about that. I wish KELLY’s DH Leroy’s ruptured ligament had the success Clair has had. You and Clair are doing awesome with the PT consistency. Glad you like my pix! Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

Good Morning!! I had a very nice weekend. I added 2.2 miles( WATP & short walk @ lunch) on Friday, 2 miles( Moving while watching a movie) Saturday and on Sunday I walked 3.02 miles. Relaxed a good bit, watched some movies, and read.
Leroy and I received a wonderful blessing of 1000.00 from our Church. That will definitely be put towards the medical bills. We have a tough time receiving though, we are more comfortable with the giving.
Cait: Great job on your overall good days. Praying the coming rain does not cause any flooding for you. So what are your favorite breakfast and lunch choices at your restaurants? Michelle: Good job on your consistency with the PT workouts for Clair. Waving to all!! Happy Walking!! WATP/EX: 197.50 Tracker miles:333.69 2024 WATP/EX miles:84 Tracker Miles: 132.09

Good Morning Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 1 snack, used 23 pts. We walked 4.5 mi for our Sunday breakfast, and back via the Bluff above the beach. I did 12 mins of PT exercises 🥳.
I added my Jan “Snack on Inspo” HH to my KISS list.
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: 💚 - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: Snack on Inspo; Read quotes, whys and goals 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
Thanks to the longer walk yesterday, last week I got in 13.8 miles. I did 3 sessions of PT last week for 51 total mins 🥳.
It’s still raining today and supposed to continue through tomorrow and maybe even into Wednesday. Our rain yesterday almost doubled the 1975 record here for the day. The rain at the downtown LA campus of USC broke a 1929 record for the day. But it’s not filling the streets gutters, sidewalk and yard like it did on Thursday. Yesterday here it started raining in the afternoon - not heavy - but then the wind picked up. According to the weather app it got up to 22 mph with gusts up to 39 mph from the South/Southeast. It was noisy. We have a little water coming in through our living room bay window, and other windows were covered in plastic to prevent that. Some others leaked with the rain Thursday when the wind was coming from the North. We need work done! Our neighbor has water intrusion and his security alarm went off - probably from a window he’s had problems with. These old houses. His is 1909. Ours is 1903. There are historic district restrictions on what we can replace and special permit requirements.
I got my ebook back from the library and finished it 😃. I really like this series - the DS Cross series by Tim Sullivan. The main character is on the spectrum and a gifted detective. I bought the next in the series with Amazon credits, but I have other books to try to finish before I start that.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Monday, Monday!
CAIT -- good work on your HHs and your productive week last week! Thanks for the habit tips. Hope the rain is a kind one!
KELLY -- I understand your feelings about accepting/receiving, but I know you have given more than your share, and it's time to receive the help from your church family. {{{{{hugs}}}}}
MICHELLE -- I think you said Clair is a small dog, but did you say what breed? It's interesting to me, too, how supportive these online groups can be. What did we do before we had all these connections?
This morning started out drizzly and cold, but the sun is shining now and it's warmed up. I have to be careful not to start thinking of spring!
I went to water class yesterday, and I stretched.
118/250 miles 51/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan:19; Feb: 2/29

Cait, You made me laugh about that squirrel. That rain you got was incredible. Sorry about the leaking rain/windows problem. Our basement flooded last week or maybe the week before caused by the crawl space contractor's foundation jacks he installed which caused a pipe to bend and then break. However, like that squirrel I had massively decluttered the basement by pretending I was moving into a condo. It's surprising what junk people (me being the people) will keep. There wasn't anything down there so the flooding was rather meaningless, so to speak.
Carol, Clair is a black lab. Her sister, Buttercup, is also a black lab and her brother, Sam, is a full sized Collie. I agree about how wonderful the internet has made our lives.
Kelly, GFY getting your walking done!
Saturday, Sunday and Monday: 14,797, 10,982, 11,774 & Yoga Sunday & Monday = 93% For Clair: Three PT walks X 3 (missed most of one due to a snowstorm), 5 PTs all completed x 2 times daily (missed one PT session due to Mommy shoveling snow) = 100%, it's not her fault she missed one session so she still gets a perfect score.
