Hello Crafters Sounds like everyone is doing well and busy with projects and life in general. I probably won't get much quilting done this summer since the heat doesn't lead me to be motivated. But we'll see if I get the urge to do something. The Great British Baking Show is on PBS tonight, not sure if that is all over the country or not, but I'm enjoying watching a season we haven't seen yet. Take care everyone!

Cj, since you mentioned the Great British baking show before I've forgotten to look it up but I just looked it up now and it is on here tonight at 8. Is the one on there about bread?
I finally went back to the pattern that my dil said dgd wanted fingerless gloves from and it finally clicked with me. I tried it just a few minutes ago and it really does go fast and is way easier than it was last time I tried it. Still I think she exaggerated when she (the designer) said it would take an hour to make a pair...there's no way. It's a pattern that I posted the link for back in March....faux cable fingerless which Ginny mentioned that the faux cables could easily get caught on things. It looks to me like the faux cables are kind of protected by the ridges so maybe that won't happen but I'll make some and see.. She also wants a scarf but I think I'll just make a regular cable scarf not a faux one because on a scarf I don't know that these faux cables with work. I think for sure they'll get stuck. So that's my project for this evening.I did a little cooking and cleaning earlier so I won't feel guilty sitting and crocheting...well I wouldn't anyway. Nowdays I don't really worry about getting things done too much. Later before family comes to visit I'll do a thorough cleaning..in the meantime..maintenance.

Hello everyone, It has been a busy day. My eye surgeon had ordered eye drops to use before my surgery but no one told me. I got a call from the pharmacy this morning requesting that I pick them up which I did. On my way home I stopped at Hobby Lobby. I have only been there a couple of times so I went in to look at their yarn and bought 2 skeins that I will use for DGD#2s afghan. Hobby Lobby is a very nice store and I could spend a whole say there. HL is very close to where I go for PT and eye care but I am usually in to big a hurry to stop.
cj, you are not the only one not very motivated. I have been struggling for a couple of weeks. I feel motivated to get rid of some more of the yarn that is taking up space. I think I will give it to the workshop where DD goes every day, I guess we should both take a break and read some good books. When I get this cataract taken care of and can see better perhaps I will be more motivated then
Ruth, I hope you get your glove pattern sorted out. I was thinking that I might knit another pr. of slipper boots. I have 2 pr. now and I really like them.
Ruth, I love soup and you are making me hungry telling us about it. It is nice to have a soup recipe but mostly I make it with whatever I have on hand.
Ginny, are you enjoying you first days off school.
Phyl, I hope you are rested up after your rounds of the quilt shops.

Good evening!
TOday ended up being a bit crazy for me- which I hope is not the way this summer is going to be.
CJ- thanks for the reminder about the Great British baking show, I had some trouble with finding it on my TV system, but I did find it after all- and have it set to DVR the series. Thanks! Hey Iknow many of us do not craft as much in the summer- but we know you are always thinking and looking for new ideas and will be all ready to quilt again when cooler weather arrives.
Ruth, indeed I think I have to try those fingerless gloves...and believe me I do not think for a minute that you would feel guilty crocheting! Homework is very patient, it always waits for you.
Phyl, that stinks that your favorite quilt shop is closing. Glad you found some fabric though!
Hope Meg is having a good day- and that her weather is becoming more normal and less hot

Meg, I LOVE Hobby Lobby! Glad you got to check it out. Has your surgery been scheduled yet? Ginny

Meg, that's how I make it too. No recipe. People have asked me for my recipe for that and other things but I rarely use one. That's strange that no one told you about the eye drops. If he's ordered pre surgery eye drops does that mean your surgery is scheduled and no one has told you that either? I love Hobby Lobby also. They have some nice fabric at reasonable prices and they have good sales. I love their clearance isle especially.I've bought some really nice yarn on clearance there. Ginny, I sure hope your summer sorts out to be better than today and yesterday I agree, Ginny, that some of us just aren't motivated in the summer. CJ, though, may not be actually quilting but I'd bet, CJ, that it's as Ginny said, you're thinking about fabric combinations and various other things that are of course on the approved crafting list...looking at patterns, reading about projects...and many others. We'll have to add just thinking about crafting or is that already on the list Ginny with driving I'm sure fingerless gloves will be prefect for you and I'd bet your family members would love them for texting etc, when it's cold

Good morning!
Me too.....I make soup from whatever is in the house. The sad thing is when you make a really good batch and of course cannot totally duplicate it, because of what was available!
I just like hobby lobby- you are treated like a human being and the store has such lovely home decor items in addition to their crafting supplies. And yes, they have fabric too- sort of the marriage of Joanns and AC Moore.
Have a great day Ginny

Yes and they have such nice music at HL That's pretty much the way it is with everything I make. I can't exactly duplicate it.
I hope you all have a great weekend.

Happy Saturday everyone. I am having a lazy day though I do need to go to the store but I hate having to go out. It is a wee bit cooler today. The forecast high is 99 and Sunday 92. I think I would just like to read so far no crocheting for me today Perhaps if I had something small to work on I might be more motivated.
Ruth, I know what you mean sometimes I make soup which would love to make again but just can't make it the same. It's just so easy to dump everything in he pot and it is always good no matter what. But sometimes better than others.
Ginny, I noticed that almost all Hobby Lobby's yarn brands are different than I am used to getting at Michaels or Jo Ann's. I have been in HL before but I have never been able to tour the whole store properly. The only thing about Michaels and Jo Ann's is that they are closer to where I live. Though Hobby Lobby is just about 30 mins away. I like the fact that they close their doors on Sunday When I was growing up in Ireland all the stores were closed on Sunday and we did all our weekend shopping on Saturday.
Have a great day.

Meg, even when I was growing up in pa and western NY most things were closed on Sundays. No one shopped on Sunday. If there was something you really needed you would have to go to a small mom and pop type store which were few and far between except in the city but I never lived in the city
I'm glad it's getting cooler there. I'm enjoying the little bit cooler weather here. I sure won't wish for uner 50's or for snow but I don't want 90's and 100 or over.

hi, yes hl yarns are different brand. not sure if they carry red heart anymore. I know alotof sewers do not like the sewlogy brands of notions.
growing up everything was closed on sundays. even the beer joints. dad wanted beer he had to go outside of city limits..there was a small grocery store In that area that was open. haven't thought about that store I in years.
we just had a stormy nice rain about an hour ago. now the sun is shining. we have had about 3 nice cool days. I have been in the house with shorts on. I wanted to go anywhere today I would have had to put shorts on. tomorrow will be a jeans day for sure. 65.
today I spent the afternoon In my playpen. I do have the cutting table and machine cabinet shelf cleaned off. didn't get to the dusting and vacuming. wonder why. I finished the binding on the baby quilt. so tuesday it will go the the quilt ladies who take the things we make to the diffrent charities. phyl

Meg, maybe you could make those nice dishcloths or potholders to have something small to work on. Then you could donate those to the food bank also. I'd think that potholders and dishcloths are something people in need of a food bank can't afford to buy and would need.
Phyl, I keep working on my craft room. I do need to work on it more though. It still could use a little more organizing and more things moved out of there. Only thing is I want to put some of the stuff in the garage but I have to organize it first.
Working on the fingerless but I'm having the same problem as Meg...the sides. These aren't the cable one just the ridged ones that you put the faux cables on. I still don't know how she gets 7 inches in 16 rows. I moved up from an H hook to an I and it still took 23 rows for me to get to that width. But it will work ok...I think anyway. Finally got the sides straight.

The day is winding down and I haven't done anything apart from putting dish washer.
Ruth, where did you live in Pa? my DH was from Pa. and I visited there a few times. I don't think I will take up knitting dish clothes because I don't like to use them myself. I will probably knit some more booties for myself. My eye sight is also one of the reasons I will be slowing down for awhile, to be continued

pk I am back. My post was on the wrong page. when that happens I can usually copy what I have written and paste it where I want it. but it just wouldn't let me do that today.
Phyl. I don't recall seeing any Red Heart at HL. I have gone off Red Heart at the moment and I wanted something different.
I am off to do some more reading. sleep well.

The only Red Heart I really like is the "with love". The town I lived in in Pa is DuBois. And yes, i guess if you don't like to use the the dishcloths yourself you probably could see others not liking them too. I think booties is a good thing also. It's something you can use.
