Good Morning, Challengers
Yesterday Sun I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 21 pts. We walked 2.2 mi before breakfast.
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT/ST: N - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: “Snack on Inspo”; Read prayers, quotes, whys and goals: 💚 - FFFE (Food-Free Fasting Evenings): 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
Yesterday’s high temp outside was 107 and indoors 91.5. It was pretty miserable. And as of last night we’re under an evacuation warning due to a wildfire around 20 miles away.
With all this heat, and our location an hour from anywhere, I didn’t think there was much chance of getting the A/C fixed quickly, and we’re leaving Thurs to return to SoCal. This am I called one company, and they said it would be at least two weeks. I called another repair guy in the valley, and coincidentally he was sending a repair guy to one of our neighbors’ homes today! He was able to come to ours also, and the A/C is fixed! Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning, Challengers
Yesterday Mon I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 15 pts.
Yesterday the temp got up to 105. It took a while for the A/C to bring down the indoor temp, but it was definitely a blessing. We are very grateful. There’s some smoke in the air but not too much in the am when we walk and eat breakfast on the deck. Air quality is “moderate” now but I can smell, see and feel it getting worse.
Preparing to leave Thurs to return to So Cal.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

WEDNESDAY! KELLY -- A friend was saying the other day she needs to be held accountable, so she likes to have a class to go to for weights. I feel the same way; no matter how determined I am to do bands or weights at home, I fizzle out. Maybe I will have the habit ingrained during this round of rehab so I can keep it up at home! CAIT -- I'm glad they were able to fix your AC! Good luck with the recent round of wildfires, and drive safely on your journey to the south. Yesterday I swam 1000 yards outdoors on a beautiful sunny day -- it felt great! I am still not breaking any speed records, but I'm making progress. Today I went to rehab, but first I put together a marinade for pasta tonight with garden fresh tomatoes and basil, garlic, and olive oil. Easy! And it will be a nice, quick dinner with a homemade baguette. 146/250 miles 65/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan:19; Feb:13; Mar:19; Apr:19; May:21; June:17; July: 5/31

Yesterday the temp got up to 105.4, but it was comfortable indoors. The smoke never got too bad here. The wildfire is S of us moving eastward. We’re NW of it. They’ve closed the main road in the valley.
This morning we saw a big bald eagle below us on the river bank with something in it’s beak. 🦅
Preparing to leave tomorrow to return to So Cal.

Good morning!!
I added a 2.01 mile walk on Tuesday before work and 2 miles on Wednesday with mowing. Very hot and humid.
Tuesday, I experienced swelling of my ankles and had pitting edema. My heart rate was also elevated. I never had swelling before even with pregnancy. I had video visit with one of the CRNP's at my PCP office. She prescribed a low dose water pill. The swelling is gone but heart rate still goes up at times. If it does not improve, I will go for an in person visit.
Cait: Good job on your HHs and miles. Hope your home stays safe from the wildfires. Have a safe trip.
Carol: Good job on your workout. Your pasta sounds refreshing.
Waving to all. Happy Walking!!

Good Morning, Challengers
Yesterday Wed I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 15 pts. We walked 2.2 mi before breakfast and I walked .1 taking out the trash in the evening, so 2.3 mi for the day.
Yesterday the temp got up to 105+ again. Not very smoky at our place, air quality moderate, but people in the valley are very concerned, and the main road through the valley is closed. The section of the Pacific Crest Trail above the valley is closed.
“On the road again” this morning. We’re driving past Mt. Shasta, and it’s somewhat obscured with smoke.
AMY - Yay, you, such great progress, reaching Lifetime goal weight with WW and having a weight lower than that. I keep a high goal with WW, but my personal goal and current weight is much lower. That is awesome that you’re back to doing Leslie Sansone, and now leading a group in your community room! Your back and knee must be doing much better. Congrats! 🎊🎉🥳🙏🤗
CAROL - We were very surprised to see the bear! We have black bears here, and they generally avoid humans, but they’ll raid our trash cans and sometimes they break into buildings. Once our friends had a bear break in and smash and raid their freezer. GFY with the water class and rehab. That’s great that he added weights! I need that. GJ with the 1000 yd outdoor swim Tues KELLY - Glad you had a July 4 event with a pool. And so glad you didn’t push yourself last weekend with the heat and humidity. GFY with the 2.03 mi Mon, 2.01 mi Tues, and 2 mi Wed mowing. Getting out early works for me too. Wow, sorry about the lower limb edema and elevated heart rate. Hope it’s just a reaction to the heat and humidity. 🤗🙏
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning, Challengers Yesterday Thurs I did 1/6 of my main HHs, ate in my 🧡 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 1 snack, used 48 pts. No exercise - long travel day. My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT/ST: N - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: N - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: “Snack on Inspo”; Read prayers, quotes, whys and goals: N - FFFE (Food-Free Fasting Evenings): N - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚 Yesterday the temp got up to 116 in the Central Valley. We had a nice dinner at the steakhouse, but I gave in to impulse and ate the 2 large complimentary cookies, but grateful I tracked it, and that helped me focus on 0 pts fruit, and stop eating. We should get home a little after noon. We’re 70 miles from home now, in the mountains N of LA, and the temp is 86, DH said “We haven’t seen a temperature this low at this time of day in a long time!” KELLY - GFY with the 1.75 mi! Way better than nothing. We actually walked about .3 mi to the steakhouse and back yesterday, so it was better than nothing, but I’m not counting it for my challenge. In a similar vein, a friend in my other WW group posted this today and I really liked it! Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

Good Morning, Dimers Yesterday Fri I did 5/6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 23 pts. No exercise - travel and then catching up on work. My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT/ST: N - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: “Snack on Inspo”; Read prayers, quotes, whys and goals: 💚 - FFFE (Food-Free Fasting Evenings): 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚 Yesterday after we settled in, we had lunch and then I dove into catching up on work phone calls and emails. When I double checked my tracker for Thurs, I realized I had inadvertently tracked a larger serving than I meant to. I updated that, and discovered that Thurs I ate in my 🧡 zone of pts, not red. 😃 This am I attended my weekly WW virtual workshop: “How to respond to unhelpful thoughts.” I love this topic. It’s a game changer for me - to talk to myself as I would to a child or a friend. And to remember “thoughts are not facts.” Check the “evidence.” www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/respond-to-unhelpful-thoughtsWhile we were driving, I found this in my reading: “If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, seek new strategies, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. That way, their children don’t have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence.
I love her phrase enjoy effort. It’s kind of hard to enjoy what is happening when we are clenching our teeth together as we try to force something to change, as we beat our heads against the wall. But what happens when we start getting curious about our experience, loving the challenge, getting intrigued by the mistakes?”~ “Unwinding Anxiety” by Judson Brewer MD, PhD (quoting from “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success,” by Carol S. Dweck, PhD) Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

SATURDAY! KELLY -- Boy, the heat and humidity are really doing a number on us, aren't they? Good job walking as much as you did and mowing. I'm sorry about the swelling; hopefully it will right itself before too long. CAIT -- Glad you made it down south safely. The selection is a good "better than" reminder, isn't it? GFY with 5/6 HHs, too. Thursday I met some friends at the neighborhood pool for a water class; it was fun catching up with them. Friday I went to rehab. I meant to stop at the pool to stretch and wash my hair (lol I hate to wipe down the shower tiles), but I forgot! Today it's hot and humid, so I just did a little work in the garden and stretched. Actually, it was a good day to empty out the frig and wipe it down -- a good, cool, inside job! Looking forward to the first local sweet corn of the summer -- bring it on! 150/250 miles 67/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan:19; Feb:13; Mar:19; Apr:19; May:21; June:17; July: 7/31

I read out on the patio and we had lunch and dinner out there. CAROL - GFY with the water class, rehab, gardening and stretching. Yes, I was realizing that the fruit was a “better than” choice than the cookies and many other options. Reminded me why, for me, the WW points work way “better than” counting calories. Good Morning!! I had a nice weekend. Actually, relaxed a good bit. I did add 5 miles of WATP videos. I have not had anymore episodes of the swelling but my heart rate has still had some episodes of being elevated. I did get my blood work done Saturday morning and based on the results it looks like my Grave's disease has came out of remission. Hopefully my PCP will reach out today with a plan. Cait: Glad you had a safe trip. The cookies sound yummy but glad you were able to stop and focus on fruit. I'm sure it felt good to get back to walking. Carol: with the water class, rehab, gardening and stretching. Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!

Monday, Monday!
CAIT -- WTG with your HHs once again. I'm glad it was nice enough that you could eat outside; it's been too beastly here.
KELLY -- I'm sorry your Grave's disease seems to be back. I know you'll be able to deal with it, though. I'm glad you had a nice, relaxing weekend.
I went to the late afternoon water class yesterday (Sunday), but it was super hot! I wound up getting dehydrated -- in the pool! Counter intuitive, I know, but I should know better. I got the finger wag today at rehab and a nice lesson/lecture about hydration. Actually, I left class a little early and didn't stick around to stretch. I may take tomorrow (laps day) off.
