Just a quick post to say Hi and read your posts with the help of a magnifying glass. I had my eyes dilated and they have not returned to normal. I had several tests prior tp my surgery which is on the calendar for the 1st Sept. On less there is a cancellation. I was hoping they would do the surgery sooner but it is not an emergency. So I will have to be patient.
I was able to listen to an audio book and work on my slipper boots this afternoon.. I just to knit 5 rows and I will be finished.
I can't see what I am doing and making lots of mistakes. So I wish you all a good night.

Good morning!
Meg, lets be optimistic and hope that you are not making a lot of mistakes! Honestly, Sept might be a good date for you- Devin will almost be back in school and it will perhaps give you the time you need to heal post op. I do remember my mom having to keep quiet for a day or so afterward. Will both eyes be done the same day or shortly thereafter? I will pray for you for patience and that you get the best function possible while you are waiting for the procedure to be done.
Do you think that switching to a pattern using one of the jumbo yarns might help? Kind of hard to mess up with an easy pattern and a jumbo/bulky yarn.
Good to wake up to our home and the kitties. Lots of laundry today.... Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I hope your vision will clear up before your surgery, that would be a long time to deal with that. I love to work with the Bernat Blanket Yard, and it's very large yarn like Ginny suggested. Ruth - I'm careful about talking about travel on the message boards too, as well as information that gives my exact location. It's just not a safe world anymore. Ginny - Hope you are feeling more rested too. Phyl - Hope you're getting in some crafting. I went out today and stopped at a Walmart. They were selling fabric there, but I didn't get any. Years ago they always used to have fabric and then stopped selling it but now it seems like it's back. Take care everyone!

Happy Saturday everyone. It has been a beautiful morning here & we had all the doors and windows open. FS just closed everything so I guess the A/C is going to be turned on. I am waiting for DD to arrive so that will keep me on the move this afternoon, I finished the slipper boots last night. Now I have 3 pr. I would like to have 6 pr. as I like to throw them in the washer.
GInny, I didn't know that you were on a trip. I am glad you had a relaxing time and that DS was there holding the fort when you got home. I discovered that the reason I had trouble seeing yesterday was because I forgot to change my glasses. Devin will go back to school sometime in August because he got out for the summer on 8th June. So he will be back in school when I have my eye surgery. I have noticed that a lot of the patterns are printed with a very small font and usually they have more than enough space to make the print larger.
I think I am on the wrong page. I will change it and be right back. This web site is confusing at times. What I did was highlight what I has written copied and pasted it on this page.

So many of then are in very small print. Lyon Brand use very small print but they have almost whole pages where they could spread out and make their print bigger. I think I will write to them.
DD has arrived so I will check back later.

Well Meg, we're just glad to see you. We can just skip over the extras in your message. The wrong glasses thing sounds like something I would do. That's why I have trifocals so I just need one pair. I'm glad to hear your slipper booties are done. It will be nice to have six pairs when you get the rest done. Some time before winter I'd like to make some for myself too. Do you put anything on the bottom so that you don't slip? I'm not planning on doing that.
Ginny, it must be great being back home. I hope you had a good time where you went.I know those kitties were glad to see you.
Talked in ddil today and she asked dgd Grace if she might want a doll sling after all and she said yes she did so I'm going to make that today. Didn't do too well on my finishing things yesterday but that's the way of plans.
It was still supposed to be cool here today then a week of 90's. Well it's 90 now so that was wrong.
I hope you are all having a good day.TAke care of yourselves and enjoy.

Ruth, I did have trifocals and last time I got new glasses he gave me 3 prescriptions. distance, reading & TV. After I have my cataract surgery I will get new glasses but until then I have to put up with what I have. Our temp, is probably in the 90s. I haven't checked yet. The A/C is on.

Meg, after my cataract surgery my eye surgeon said I didn't need my trifocals anymore. He said to buy reading glasses otc. Well that didn't work at all for me so I kept using the trifocals and last year got a new pair also trifocals. My doctor will do only one eye. Almost everyone I know had one done and the other eye a week later. I think you've had one done before too, right..and only the one done at that time? My eye surgeon is the only one in town and that's all he does is eye surgery and taking care of people with glaucoma unless he's given that up now too.He doesn't give prescriptions for glasses at all. We do have a retinologist in town now too that takes care of people with diabetic retinopathy and AMD too I think.
That would be a real pain having to have three different pairs. Since you have special vision issues it probably makes it complicated to prescribe glasses

Good evening!
Meg, no worries about the post being a bit confused to read...we all suffer with issues on the computer from time to time and as Ruth said, its easy to fish though and take out the extra. I think you have a great idea to ask Lion Brand to offer patterns in large print. Many who crochet and knit need glasses to do so and large print would be a real asset. What a great idea!
CJ- funny I was in Walmart today also and chatted with a friend about Walmart and fabric. In our 2 local Walmarts, both used to have extensive fabric sections- and eliminated fabrics for several years. Now both stores have fabric back- while it is not quilt shop quality- it works in a pinch. I have made a panel vest from some walmart fabric and it came out lovely. I will say they usually have cute seasonal fabrics.
Ruth, wow....so in one day you will crank out another doll sling! You are one crafty lady getting that done so quickly.
When my mom had her cataracts done each eye was done 3 months apart from the other. I think her doctor was overly cautious and that most docs now do them together or one week apart.
Got a new flyer from the LQS and want to sign up for a class. They are closed for the next 3 days, so I will have to call on Wednesday. Not sure if my ability level is up to the class- but I have done some quilting- just am mostly self taught. The class is to make a table runner, and it does look easy. I will call on Wednesday and see if they think I can handle it.
Indeed, I was away- tried to make it not obvious in my short posts, but figured if I mentioned shaky internet (which was true) enough that someone would figure it out. Of course, I did not want to advertise we were away- I might be dumb but I am not stupid! Anyway, it was nice getting away, and its nice being home.
Have a great night all Ginny

Ginny, I think it's more because I have too much time on my hands that I can make the doll sling in a day.Or I don't use my time as I should. There's a lot that could be done but I'd rather be crocheting. The slings are pretty boring once you get past the increases and decreases.Tomorrow will be little blankets for the dolls and we'll see what happens after that.I'm on the really boring part now...the strap but it shouldn't take to long. The rows are short and then there's only one seam to be crochet...the attaching of the end of the strap to the beginning of the sling and one end to weave in.Only thing I don't like is that the yarn, while pretty with it's dark brown, tan, and a nice blue variegation. the dark brown is scratchy. It's REd Heart Super Saver. I think that once it's washed though it should be ok and it's only a doll sling
Ginny, I think that quilting class will be perfect. If it presents some things you haven't done it's a perfect opportunity to advance your skills and I know you can do it. Plus they always have hints on how to do things more easily or better.
Walmart here is the same. We have two stores, one quit selling fabric but now is back to selling it again. They do have pretty seasonal fabric...you're right.
And yes, the less info you allow to get out there the better off and safer you are.i shared my address and phone number with several people on the old ww board. Ended up one spread my address to a lot of people so definitely I could never mention if I was going to be away. It wouldn't be hard to find my house.Everyone else I gave my address and phone and last name to was honest and trustworthy. It's always just one bad apple that spoils it for all.
And CJ, I didn't see your post when I was here earlier. It wasn't till Ginny mentioned that you talked about Walmart that I looked back and found it right before Meg's.

Ruth, I have not had cataract surgery before and I am just having the left eye done, She did mention possibly doing the right eye later. I see very well with my right eye. I am very fortunate because I get very good medical care which includes eye care all levels. I would like to have trifocals again so that I don't have to keep changing glasses. No crafting for me today I took the day off. I need to decide on a project. Your DGDs are very lucky to have such an obliging Grandma.
Ginny, that will be fun to take a class and I hope it will be money well spent if you can learn a few new tricks to make your quilting easier. A few years ago I ordered and paid for a knitting pattern. When it arrived it was just a sheet dark green paper with the pattern printed in black ink. It was difficult to read on the dark green paper . So I wrote and complained and they sent my money back. At the moment I can't read the small print and have to use a magnifying glass. So I will stick with making something that I know with out a pattern.
It's bed time. Sleep well.

Good morning!
Ruth how did you make out with that sling yesterday? Were you able to complete making it? were you able to figure out we were away on vacation? I figured you would make sense of it, being a former New Yorker, and knowing that regents spell the end of the school year.
Meg- glad its one eye only and that the other one seems to be ok. I would think that you would be able to see well enough (with the one good eye) already- so you know your present work is beautiful. Anyway, I hope you slept well and that they get a cancellation so that your surgery can be done earlier. Thank good ness you have such great health care coverage.
I am hoping that the LQS will allow me to use one of the gift cards I have from them for the class. That is if I can get into the class.....if it has not already been filled with attendees.
Off to church BBL Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - You are joining me with the 90 degree weather, we're supposed to have it through the week too. I'll be glad if we can get back into the 80s. Sounds like your projects are coming along well. Meg - Hope you can get some more slippers made and I'm glad you are seeing better with different glasses. Ginny - I hope you can take the class too, and use the gift card. A tablerunner sounds like a nice project to take on. If you like it, you can make several for different seasons. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. I'm not doing anything today. I got my walking in earlier so I've been reading a book today. It's nice to just relax sometimes. Take care everyone!

I was going to say good morning but it's a little late for that.
Ginny, yes I got that sling made and now I'm thinking that I should make one for the little guy to carry his stuffed animals in. don't have any idea of how long to make that one because I don't know how tall a 3 year old is but I'll see what I can do. Also want to get started on the other things for the dolls I'm sending.
Dh is out spraying weeds and will soon be in to shower and have lunch so I'd better go get that started. I want him to have something cold to drink and some good food after all that work.
CJ, Yes it's good to take a day to just relax. Last evening after I finished the sling I read for awhile before going to bed.
See you all later and have a great day

good afternoon! Ruth, I am sure you can ask the internet how tall a 3 year old is- or how long a sling to make...that information is out there somewhere. Glad you finished sling #1 and are moving on to other projects. CJ- ah, a nice lazy day! How long do you walk each day? So sorry about your hot weather....hope it cools down a bit soon! think I am about 300 miles north of you, and we are in the mid 80's this week, then going down a bit toward the end of the week to low 80's and a few high 70's. Anyone have plans to see fireworks? We will go- not sure when though. If you want to check out the table runner, go to. Www.quiltersattic.com, look for a link on the middle left for newsletter- and its on page 4. Charmed runner. Honestly, I do not see anything from looking at the picture that I cannot handle...but because I am largely self taught, who knows what mistakes in technique I make! Hope I can get into the class. Got my walk in- its still hot here but the humidity has gone down. Hope Meg and Phyl are doing well Ginny
