Good morning all! My month away from the scale isn't going so well. I can tell that I'm gaining, my clothes are getting tight. I'm determined to stay off the scale though. I'm not tracking faithfully, which has been an issue for a while. I'm also eating entirely too much junk. I've been working a lot lately, which means late nights and skipping the gym in the mornings. I'm feeling that. sunrose49 - I am a vegetarian. I have been for over 20 years (since I was 14). I eat eggs and dairy. It really doesn't impact my life very often because I can always find something to eat. My employer is very accommodating to me, so there is always delicious food for me to eat. But, when I go to functions put on by other companies, I am reminded that most people don't know how to feed vegetarians. My employer puts serious effort into making sure that my options are just as delicious as everyone else's. I also have an amazing husband who has never spoken critically about my choice and does not cook meat in our house (unless I'm away - sometimes I find meat tucked away in the back of the fridge or freezer). This isn't something I insist upon; he just feels that it's disrespectful, and I appreciate that. As a family, all of our meals are vegetarian. My kids and my husband all eat meat when we eat outside the home and I sometimes buy ham, hot dogs, pepperoni pizza and other meat that can be cooked easily and won't stink up the house, etc. for the kids. cj59 - I tried Beck once but found that I didn't like the tone. I do like the strategies though and see the value in them. Someone on another board said that you pick up a few new nuggets each time you read it. annette - I fully support throwing out the scale. fairchildk - Glad you found us! I am not currently on any specific program; I'm using this month as a kind of reset to my diet mentality. I've been overindulging a lot lately, but I'm trying to make peace and start to be a bit more balanced. I'm not sure what I'll do when this month is over. I've always been partial to the Momentum plan. I've done a number of programs over the years, with varying success. Hope everyone has a great, OP day!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today wwlurker - Hang in there, I know you are doing your best during this time to, as you said reset your diet mentality. I think that's a very important thing to do. And good for you tracking, sometimes I get tired of doing it, but I know it's really important to be "real" about what I'm eating. There are some of the Beck philosophies that I don't really agree with either and I don't use them, or use only parts of them. But the ones that I do like have helped me to be more aware of how I think about food and how I deal with it. So I'll take any help I can get. I had a success yesterday - I had an email from a company that makes cookies, cakes, etc. and they were offering 6 free cookies. I really wanted to order those, but I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to bring those 6 cookies in my house, so I resisted. I do feel bad to miss that good deal though

what is the difference in the classic and the smart points?

fairchildk - Momentum (classic) was based on calories, fat and fiber. Fat was penalized and fiber was encouraged. Points were roughly 50 cal, with adjustments for fat and fiber. High fat items can be more than that, and high fiber can be less. There were points in fruit. Smart Points are based on calories, saturated fat, sugar, protein. Sat fat and sugar are penalized and protein is encouraged. Calories per point vary widely, but the base is 30 or 33 cal/point. The adjustments can make it much more or less than that, though. With Smart Points, you need to earn a baseline of fit points before you can swap them for food. On the old system, you didn't need to do that. Activity points were roughly 1 for every 100 calories burned.

So I put in a very naughty week this past week 😣😣 I expected a gain for sure. I wasn't expecting to gain back the 5 pounds I lost though 😣😣😣 But I'm not going to let it depress me. I know exactly what I did wrong so I have to be very good this week and work very hard to get those gained pounds off of me and stay off 😀 Here's to a successful week

Hello Everyone celticcapergirl - Sorry to hear you had a gain this week, but I'm glad you know what you did to have that and I hope you have a good week and get the pounds back off. Fairchild - wwlurker explained the Classic Points very well. I was really successful on that program when it was out back in 2009-2015, so I went back to it in 2015 when I decided to lose weight again. I can pretty much look at the calories, fat and fiber in a food and figure out the points, I like it that it's an easier computation than Points Plus and Smart Points, but it's true that it does allow you more sugar and "bad" fats than more recent programs. I'm doing pretty well today. I went to the grocery store and avoided buying any high point/calorie foods. I'm hoping to stay strong through the weekend to make up for the bad day I had this past Monday. Then I'm hoping for next week to be a normal week with no overeating. Hope you are all doing well on your plans and have a great weekend!

Fairchild - welcome to the group. celticcapergirl - sorry for the gain. You'll get it off again. wwlurker - I liked reading your explanation of the programs...thanks ;-) cj59 - good for you resisting the cookies! A neighbor brought over a small loaf of zucchini break yesterday. Ugh!! Annette hope you are doing good. Met my step goal yesterday. I also did a little trot on the towpath. I miss my running days.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well this weekend
sunrose - But there's zucchini in the bread - so it's more of a vegetable, right? Good for you getting your steps in, I work to do that every day too.
I'm doing pretty well this weekend. Having to fight a lot of urges to overeat. I worked out my food plan and I'm trying to stick to it.
I keep thinking about taking one day off from watching what I eat and just eating, but since I have to think about it so much I wonder if I know that it's really a bad idea. I really need to think instead of planning for it and fitting it into my week.
I just want to avoid one of those unplanned days where I overeat, so I hope I can figure out a way to accept this way of eating and not keep thinking of going off my plan. I know that taking that day off is just playing a game with myself like I used to do years ago when I was on WW and it really doesn't solve anything.
Hopefully sharing this will help get me past the urge to do this

Good morning all!
I was away this weekend and did not eat healthy at all.
I did go to the gym this am though. It makes me feel so good, it makes me wonder why I don't make more of an effort to do it more!
Hope you all are doing well!

Hi everyone!
I am plugging along. Have to skip the gym today, but this is the only time this week that I should have to miss it. I have no excuses the rest of the days!
Hope you all are doing well.

Good morning
cj59, I think the thoughts of food and over eating are always in our minds. I know it is for me. We are always here to listen. You are really doing good!
wwlurker, I'm with you on the feeling good after exercising.
Waving to all
I am fighting as always with the scale/food. I am thinking about stopping my monthly pass and just attending a meeting once a month. I have maintained around the same weight for almost a year. I can't keep wasting the $. I'm also thinking about counting calories for a bit so I am doing something different.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a great weekend in regards to food and I can tell that I am eating less and I don't feel hungry Now to start getting my exercise in!!! I cant wait for the fall and the cooler weather so that I can start walking again! It is just way too hot to walk as much as I like to. I signed up for the Daily Burn today since it said it was free with my WW membership---I hope I can get moving more.....

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well. wwlurker - Hope you can make it to the gym this week like you want to do. Good luck with sticking to your food plan too sunrose - Can you just go to WW once and month and pay each time? If so, that sounds like it might work for you. I know lots of people love My Fitness Pal and Lose It for counting calories Congratulations for staying the same weight for a year, that's one of my goals. Fairchild - I'm glad to hear you are doing well and feeling better. I hope the Daily Burn helps to motivate you I had my weigh-in yesterday and lost a little bit last week and that was with the one overeating/binge day, eating all my activity points and my daily points. I'm hoping that I can stay on track this week and for a few weeks so that I can try to figure out if I need to adjust my points. Or I could just have a binge every once in awhile - just kidding I know that is not a good idea I just need to fit my "indulgences" into my weekly plan. It's funny that I was able to do that better when I still losing, now it just seems harder. Gotta keep working on it though.

Good morning everyone! sunrose49 - I'm all for mixing it up. I've not been doing any specific program lately - I am on a break lol. But, I do still track (most days) and I tend to add up calories just to have an idea as to how much I'm eating. I've been at a (small) deficit for the past two days. fairchildk - Sounds like things are falling into place for you! Awesome! cj59 - You have such a great attitude towards figuring this all out. You are doing amazing - keep up the good work! I'm doing fairly well - I didn't make it to the gym this morning as planned. I had a full day at work planned and I worked late last night, so I knew that I wasn't likely going to make it. I'll try again tomorrow! I'm feeling pretty good overall. I feel like the excess indulgences I was doing after I stopped my program have subsided. I'm settling in to a more consistent, normal way of eating (for me at least). I have to increase the quality of my foods though. Less junk more healthy stuff. I missed my meal kit box this week, so we haven't been having as healthy meals. Those boxes are a lifesaver for me! Hope everyone has a great, OP day!
