Angie and BECKY the bone broth is delicious. A rich golden turkey broth w/ a bit of fresh ginger in it, some turmeric, salt and filtered water. It's so soothing and delicious.
BECKY after 6 nights of 3 hours of sleep and awakening constantly in severe pain, I'm going to do my best to follow the FODMAP for the 2 weeks as he suggested. He did say not everything on the NO list is going to be an issue for me so once all of it is out of my system I can add things back slowly over time. Those that bother me, I'll never have again (like watermelon and nectarines which I know kill me). I hope to be able to have onions and garlic especially. Beans would be GREAT.
My food for today: 1 coffee w/ almond milk Meal 1: 2 cups bone broth Meal 2: 4 oz lean ground pasture raised beef, 2 gluten free breads, salad w/ lettuce, tomato and dressing. Snack: another cup of bone broth. So basically not eating a bunch but having plenty of broth
I started having dinner and w/in 2 minutes my tummy and gut were rebelling but 2 minutes later, with more food in my tummy, I was doing pretty well. I'd taken the IBGard and the FDgard about an hour before the meal. It's as if the first food made things go nuts and then the "medical food" (which is what the GARDS are classified as) kicked in. It was almost instant discomfort followed almost instantly by relief. Fingers crossed.
Tomorrow is my 2nd visit w/ my new doctor to discuss a plan of attack for my general health. I'll suggest attacking it w/ an AXE. LOL

It happened a week ago and again yesterday...my alarm is sending notifications that all my sensors have low batteries. They have been in place 25 years with no problems. Itβs every sensor in my house. Service call this afternoon.

If a sensor is messed with or the connection is broken, the alarm goes off.

LOUISE I hope your alarm doesn't go off b/c that's so scary. When I moved into my Plano house there was an alarm system and I just never armed it. But I didn't realize there was this huge battery in my closet! So all of a sudden, about 3 years after moving it, it started going off and I had NO idea what to do. I did know there was a box in my closet but had no idea what it was for.... AND it was locked AND I didn't have a key! I called the number on the box, someone came in an hour, but for an hour there was a god-awful BLEEEP BLEEEP BLEEEP. I had no idea I had that battery and no idea how to change it. That was the only time in the 11 years I lived there that I had to change that thing. But it scared me, then annoyed the crap out of me and my neighbors for the next hour.
ANGIE LOL @ the bubble wrap and helmet for Travis. I remember at least one of the times you shared that he got an owie.
SANDY I need a quick Walmart run too for some of that IBGard. I didn't realize it's hard to find. THe FDGard isn't at any store near me so i ordered it online. I had a bit better night w/ only one awakening w/ stomach pain so that's an improvement.
I got a copy of my blood work so a few things need to be addressed. Cholesterol is very low and good but my triglycerides are high. Also for some reason my white count is up. I don't have an infection that I know about. A high WBC always scares me and my previous doctor since both my mother and brother had/have leukemia. I just need to buckle down and take better care of myself.

Celeste....ditto on needing to buckle down after seeing my labs. Lipids are all a little higher than they should be....not sky high, but need to be improved. Of more concern to me was the A1C....5.7 and estimated average glucose of 117. I do not want to go down the diabetic path....no family history...but those numbers need to get pushed down.

WOW ANGIE almost the same. I was like 5.9 and 120 average BS. I always "hover" around the 110 but my A1C has never been an issue. Between my gut issues, my A1C, my triglycerides and my crazy WBC count... Helloooooooooo CELESTE. GET YOUR SPIT TOGETHER.

Count me in on the insomniac's club. Woke up choking on drainage and can't get back to sleep.
Have nearly finished my Christmas shopping, but have sort of blown the budget. More because the budget wasn't realistic. Need to do some better planning for that in the future. I guess I never really sat down and pragmatically figured the budget. But,I had an idea of what I wanted to spend on each person and so far, Joe is the only one I've exceeded that limit on. Will go back and make a realistic tally and then adjust my "holiday savings plan" for next year. Need to go to credit union to get Christmas money out for Joe.
Since I'm up, I might go do that now. They are less than 2 blocks from my house, so I can walk over there (and get my steps in at the same time!)

OK my A1C was 5.8 average estimated BS was 120. But since for decades my fasting BS has always been over 100 (it was 112 this time) and I've NOT developed diabetes he's not at all concerned. He called me and my blood sugar "outliers" and some people just throw out more sugar and never develop diabetes and he thinks I'm one of those. He also thinks I'm an "outlier" (I LOVE THAT WORD...> CUZ I AM) since my cholesterol is only 139, but I told him w/o the Zetia it runs over 200 even w/ Zocor. So I asked about taking me off Zocor (I don't like simvastatins side effects), and he said usually zetia doesn't work by itself, but from the way adding it made my cholesterol plummet... maybe I'm an outlier there. He's putting me on a newer but very expensive statin, Crestor at my request, at the lowest dosage. Fewer side effects esp the GI issues.
Lastly I told him about my visit to the GI guy but also told him that my bladder area is tender to pressure and I was concerned that my white cells indicated an infection, and I may have a bladder infection being confused/disguised by my IBS. So, he ordered a culture AND antibiotics for a possible bladder infection.
I love this man. He listens, he's open to changes AND suggestions from me. None of the "I'M THE DOCTOR" kind of baloney.

CONNIE when I was getting divorced i had to "justify" my alimony request (not a demand... I'm too sweet hahahaha). So i had to do a budget. Which included stuff like gasoline, tires, car maintenance, haircuts, manicures, movies, vacations, doctors' visits, pet care (I was WAY under on that one). It was the only time I had any concept of budget. And it was kind of freaky. I was like "Why don't I have more of a savings?" I'm kind of no matter how little or how much income I have.. that's what I'll spend, though I'm working on that!!
BUT WOMAN!! What is the next step as far as your sinus issues? You almost missed a vacation b/c of them. I mean remember? It was the 11th hour before you were a "go" as far as diving. What is your next step? Have you had allergy testing like Suze did? Something more proactive needs to be done. Like what? I DUNNO.
I wish I could walk to someplace besides my amenity center. Maybe it would be more fun to walk if I had a reward like Starbucks or something.
Did go to Walmart and they have lots of Paleo meals AND bone broth! But their bone broth comes out to $2/cup (better than the $4.50 I was paying) but mine is so dang good and since it's a left over turkey carcass and water and 3 slices of ginger and turmeric, mine is about a few pennies a cup (minus the electricity to keep the crock pot on LOW 24/7.)
ANOTHER THING... i had no idea. Do you know that (at least at my doctor) you can have ONE cup of black coffee before fasting labs? What a relief.

CELESTE- I have an appointment with my doctor on Dec 9. I'll ask about the allergy crap. And I think I never sat down and figured a Christmas budget before because I knew I'd flip when I saw how much I spend! But we buy for a lot of people and the families are not good about wanting to draw names. And truthfully, when I was growing up Christmas was the ONLY time my family really splurged with money. Dad would work lots of overtime to make extra money and we ALWAYS got whatever toy was at the top of our "want list". We didn't get EVERYTHING on the list, but my parents did all they could to make sure we had good Christmasses. Mostly because they both grew up pretty poor and didn't have that luxury. It made them happy to be able to provide that for us. So it has bled over into my adult life.
Tonight I am making tuna noodle casserole out of those low carb Carba-nada egg noodles. Yum.

Ok, just for fun.....Post a memory or two (or several) of special childhood Christmasses.
I remember when I got my Barbie Dream House. Apparently, mom wanted to have it all assembled and sitting under the tree for me from Santa on Christmas morning, but dad kept procrastinating about putting it together. Christmas Eve after we went to bed, he got the structure built, but then realized there were a ZILLION stickers that you were supposed to apply as wallpaper, rugs, background decorations, etc. At about 3am, he called it quits and told her adding the stickers would be half the fun for ME! (He was right!)
I also remember getting my first bicycle. It was purple and had streamers on the handlebars and training wheels. I rode it around our living room on Christmas morning.
Fast forward to adulthood...... When my oldest niece was a toddler I wanted to get her a tricycle. The store offered assembly, but the cost was more than the tricycle itself. I was on the phone with my parents and dad said to buy the bike and bring it to him and he would put it together. This was 3 weeks before Christmas. On Christmas Eve, I show up at my sister's house and mom informs me that dad hasn't touched that tricycle, but he and my BIL Rick were going to put it together after the kids were in bed. Needless to say, they had a wee nip of Christmas cheer while they were working on it and Christmas morning the tricycle was under the tree without that little part you stand on between the back wheels! They had parts left over! LOL. Moral of these stories...if assembly is required, DON'T CALL FLOYD!
