I could do fish five times a week. But I am pretty sure I would be a 1972 WW rebel by not eating the liver once a week... I would lie and say I did, and of course, the guilt of lying would eat me up, and I'd be a WW failure

My first turn with WW was in 1985-86. I hated everything about the experience because I was 1) a teenager; and B) male. And those godawful WW frozen meals! When you get 52 servings of liver (cooked without oil, onions or bacon) a year under your belt, THEN we'll talk! Kitty, that was my experience, too, on the 1972 plan which was, essential, exchanges without the optional calories (and, of course, the liver once a week and fish five times a week). You've got to eat liver broiled, like a steak. Then it's pretty good.

You've got to eat liver broiled, like a steak. Then it's pretty good. Seriously! There was a hotel in SF where they would pepare Liver for us broiled w/o fats or oils and we would douse it in A1 Sauce (legal condiment). We'd get them to sub sliced tomatoes for the onions and bacon. My WW area director and I met there every week to eat our liver. I've branched out a bit with fish these days, but back then fish meant Tuna sandwich M through F every week. If mercury was a problem then, I'm surprised I don't glow permanently.

For years back in the day I thought about joining WW, but had heard you had to eat liver and there is no way I would ever do that. So I wouldn't even consider it. When I friend suggested WW to me in the late 1980s I said...but you have to eat liver. And she told me that it was no longer required. So that is literally what led to me deciding to give WW a try.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought the liver requirement was a health thing (iron and vitamins). Whether one ate liver or not didn't determine weight loss. BTW, I like liver.
On the other hand, eating a lot of fish can help with weight loss in that it tends to be lower in fat and calories than chicken, beef, pork, etc.

UK members are reportedly being told by WW that all nonfat Greek and regular yogurt are zero points regardless of what the tracker may say. It'll be interesting to see what we hear from the staff in our meetings on issues like that. Why anyone would trust yogurt from a country in that bad a fiscal shape is beyond me anyway. I'll stick with my fruit on the bottom stuff. Lol..... You must not being eating pasta, pizza or tomato sauce..cause we be in deep doodle here.....

Regarding 30 points a day, my day says that I must stay between 20-30 points, giving me -3/+7 to get a blue dot. Glitch? Not sure if I can rollover up to 4 points....
Borntexan, I adore skyr, it's thicker and not as acidy as Greek yogurt. I use it, add teaspoon of peanut butter and some cocoa powder and make my own Nutella

My mom did the 70s plan and she never ate the liver, nor did she do the fish as often as she was supposed to. She was a WW rebel. And that 70s plan is still her favorite of all of the WW programs.

Fast forwarding to the end, I still need to read half of 14 and 15, and I have to say I agree with most. About forcing better habits, I think WW does it better than most. How many food plans completely cut out food groups? I remember hearing myself tell my husband not to buy too many cherries because I could not eat fruit for another several months when I was doing the dukan ( short lasted 10 day trial). The thing that I do love about WW is that it is giving me tools that will last a lifetime. Sustainable, healthy ... Most others are time based , giving you the almost always single option of regaining all plus interest when the program ends

Remember, "carp" is now zero points!!! (Yes I know you used that instead of crap.) zazzles , As most people know I'm a big fan of the Judith Beck book "The Beck Diet Solution" because it is all about the head game. I loved the change in meetings with the cognitive behavioral therapy type topic's but I miss my guardrails. I want to know which lane to drive in, how fast to go, the rules of the road. When SP came out someone made the comment about the chief scientist was a psychologist but that comment didn't sink in until your comment here. I won't recommend WW anymore since they introduced SP. bbbearsmom, I want to make sure I understand your comment about not recommending WW to other people. As you stated, you're a big Beck proponent, and Dr. Beck is a licensed psychologist. The chief scientist at WW is a psychologist, so I'm having trouble seeing the disconnect. You won't recommend WW because they have a psychologist in a leadership position?

squid, I like the set up of WW but I really can't recommend the current programs. The last program I really worked with and understood was Points Plus. I'm on maintenance and pretty much know what I can eat and force fit it into each new program but I haven't used a program to lose in a while. I would tell people I really like how WW is set up but I can't vouch for the current program because I haven't used it to lose. Oh, I would also mention I like the new topics about the mental side of things.

zazzles, I know what you mean. My first WW leader was more akin to a Marine drill sergeant , but she was good.
