Joan....beef stew sounds yummy! Love those crock pot meals that are ready when you walk in the door after a long day.
Sandy....what color are your nails? I have a sparkly peacock blue / silver sparkle on ring fingers.....New Years nails my tech declared!
Mary...lol on your many WW lives ...just like the kitties you live with...but oh so true for all of us.
Becky....Iโm not going to lie....the thought of going to the gym is very intimidating to me. But I know how much difference it made for you...Iโm going to give it a try. Something has to change!
Celeste & Louise....hope you both get some sleep & not too much coughing.
Steph....hope they turn your heat on...glad dh was at least some what better today. Hope no one else gets it.
Connie...sounds like a nice lunch / quilt guild outing today. Enjoy your week off !
Wind is howling over the tundra. How did the pioneers survive???

MARY is that a free app? I have an android/Galaxy phone but I do have an ipad.
CONNIE I love steel cut oatmeal w/ brown sugar. And it does stick to my ribs. For about an hour then I'm hungry. not enough protein. Was it you or someone else who puts an over easy egg on their oatmeal? I know I heard about it somewhere recently.
ANGIE half of me feels as if this is an excuse but the other half of me says "I FEEL LIKE SH**." I can't go outside or I cough til I PEE. And I cannot get my steps in by walking around in my tiny house. So my lungs and the cold means I'm just not going to exercise now. As for food......... I want so badly to get on Freestyle. To incorporate beans, and more veggies. In other words....whaaawhaaawhaaaa call me that whambulance.
UGH SUZE as much as I hate this crown situation I hate root canals a ZILLION times worse.
LOUIIIIISIE what did your lung guy say?
BECKY what a good point about maintaining vs losing. There's something to be said about the scale going down and being motivating and fulfilling that WOULD be lacking w/ keeping the scale the same. Though we know that going down down down eventually is dangerously unhealthy, it's still "lacking in excitement" trying to maintain. And you know what we Dallasites are calling Austin? BALMY But there was a huge wreck (a fatality and 8 injuries) on an icy road between S Austin and Bee Cave. My DD literally missed it by less than 5 minutes. It happened at 4:55 and she was there about 4:45 on her way home from Bee Cave. It was due to icy roads. She's been having a crappy couple of months (ever since she found out she was pregnant and then her DFIL died etc) and she said that accident put it all in perspective. Last time she checked traffic is still at a standstill hours later.
UGH JT, both Louise and I flirt w/ pneumonia every year. So the thought of surgery on top of that... well coughing.... sutures... pain... EGADS. And yeah.... telling DH to get out there and shovel.... probably NOT gonna work! And I can see cereal for dinner.... FOR DESSERT!! LOL
SANDY thx for the explanation on the cotton gin. So it's not just a machine.
OH FOR PETE'S SAKE STEPH on no heat! That's torture! I think you're in N/E Austin area? Meridith is S/W Austin (Travis Country) near the Barton Creek Wilderness Park area and she said the drive between her and Bee Cave was scary. It wasn't until she got home that she realized about the wreck and how scary it really was.
OK so I've coughed enough for 29 people this evening. The pho was great but the cold ruined my lungs. My nebulizer treatment helped and now I'll chug back some more Mucinex. I DO NOT want to go on Abx and pred. (I say that every year and wind up on abx and pred). I'm going to bed. Night kids.

I saw the wreck on the news. It's close to the other swim center when we go put for local meets. That road is curvy & hilly.

Good Morning everyone.
I'm lazy and lounging in bed this morning. My Fitbit says I slept 7 hrs and 26 minutes and was restless 5 times for 31 minutes. That's better than usual, so I'll take it.
Yesterday was the first day in FOREVER that I successfully followed WW. Every journey starts with a single step, so I guess I'm on my way.
CELESTE- all that coughing you are doing has set me off coughing in sympathy. Either that or this drainage is getting the better of me again. And if you really want to get your steps in, Leslie Sansone has DVDs for walking in place that people RAVE about. I'm pretty sure you hate the treadmill, so that option is out.
It is 3 degrees here this morning. I need to get a grocery list together and make a stop at the bank. Other than that, I should be able to go upstairs and quilt today. And I need to transfer a bunch of quilt designs I purchased onto a thumb drive. For some reason, that job always takes longer than it should.
STEPH- One of our high schools had no heat and they closed for the day. I can't see how they can keep you open without heat!! My poor DH wore his down coveralls to work again today. I don't see how he can stand it. I'll be happy for him when he retires and doesn't have to work out in the crappy weather any more.

Good Morning All
Welcome Joan. My name is Terry. I live in Far Far West Texas. As far as you can go without getting into New Mexico and Mexico. I am 66 years old and retired. My DH and i just celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary. We have two grown children and two grandchildren. We also have two cats who rule the roost. My DH retired this past summer. We spend a lot of time at our condo in Northern New Mexico. Well I got on the scale this morning and it wasn't as bad as I thought. My starting weight for the new year is 185.4. That is actually pretty close to what I weighed before we left the middle of December. I ordered a Fitbit Alta last night. I have a Flex but wanted a little more. I also found a clip that you can put it in. That is what I have for my Flex. I like it because I find when I am crocheting my blankets it counts steps when I wear it on my arm. Also when I am in the grocery store or somewhere pushing a cart I don't have to worry about having my arm so it counts. I just clip it to my bra. Worked well with the Flex so hoping it does as well with the Alta. Hope everyone is staying warm. It is cold here but not as cold as some of you are getting. Suz, when we were returning from visiting DH family in November the Volleyball Team from your school was on our flight from Dallas. A very nice group of young ladies. We enjoyed visiting with them and their coach. They had a long road ahead of them as they were having to drive to several schools in New Mexico to play. I hope they did well. Right now i am still doing Online. I probably need to go to a meeting to get the new information. I am dragging about doing it because I got so burned on leaders after my favorite one left. Couldn't find one I liked. Also WW had a center in one of the shopping centers near me. When I looked online they have closed it and gone back to meeting in churches and scaled down number of meetings. I am going to start my tracking today. Need to make a list and get to grocery store. Hope everyone has a good day. Will check back later

Terry ...I recently got an Alta HR...like the additional features, but there were 2 functions that were not working. After I tried all the usual fixes, I called customer support. After trying a couple of things, they declared it malfunctioning and will send me a new one. Told dh he could have this one....I really like the detail it gives on sleep...which would be interesting for him as well. Not sure how this one would fit in any clip that attaches to bra....I need to check the accessories for that. I know Connie & Becky have had ones like that.
Weโre going to meet the trainer at the gym this afternoon. If I donโt die of embarrassinent, Iโll be back later.

JT thatโs good news for DH. I was happy with my day yesterday as well and โ itโs a start! For me itโs a challenge not to eat at night when Iโm not hungry, or eat just because itโs time, and to think of things outside of the box for a small meal or snack. Same for breakfast, since I donโt like eggs any way but hard boiled, donโt like milk and unless itโs a stack of pancakes or potato dish of some kind (carb addict!), generally donโt care for breakfast. So Iโve learned to hard boil eggs and have egg salad for breakfast. SANDY that pic of the snowflakes on the mesh chair (?) were awesome! So detailed. Glad you got in a massage and mani/pedi โ you deserve it. ANGIE exactly! Those pioneers were a hardy lot! Let us know how it goes at the gym. I need to set my day to get back. CELESTE I was telling you that a lady at the ranch had a soft boiled egg on oatmealโฆ. You KNOW my opinion of that! Wow that was very luck for your DD, thank God for that. You have really been coughing a while now, not good. YAY CONNIE! One day at a time. TERRY thatโs neatโฆIโm afraid the volley ball team may have been overshadowed this year by football โ our team won the Division II championship in December. I don't know how they do all that travel - oh yeah, they are young! I do online; Iโm not much of a meeting person. I tracked yesterday and tried to get to know the app a little better. I also got the hang of the activity points; it looks like you can only use them after you have 3-4K steps in, so thatโs good. I was wondering why I earned 4 APโs but it only showed that I had 1 available. I was over on dailies by 5, but that just helps me to put things in perspective and [hopefully] make better choices the next day. I need to boil eggs tonight, and buy some Canadian bacon, Jennie-O turkey or chicken sausageโฆ something low pt for breakfast, since I was hungry this morning. I do like sausage with peppers and a little cheese for breakfast (or lunch). OMG my brain is starting to get in gear!!!!! Waving to BECKY, MARY and all that stop in today. Enjoy the day all.

Yeah STEPH that's the road. It's a really nice drive for Meridith every day since she's very close. But I guess w/ this kind of weather it's not that nice at all. Funny but she opted to have genetic testing at week 10. If she waited until week 20 it would have been covered by insurance. But the doctor said it would cost her around $1000 to do it earlier so they decided to do it. Then they get a bill for $8,600 and they're on the hook for that. She's been stewing about it; absolutely livid. She said this accident put that into perspective.
CONNIE that's phenomenal sleep. I'm envious. I was still wide awake and hacking my head off at 4AM. I finally found some OLD codeine cough syrup and chugged that and it helped a little. I'm SO dang tired now. I didn't get out of bed until after 10AM and I'm work plum out! But don't think I don't appreciate your "sympathy coughing" hahaha Is DH's retirement on the horizon. I know you're the younger "trophy wife" but not sure when he's due for retirement... though I know you're looking forward to it.
So LOUISE it was a 1 dog night? How are you feeling today?
TERRY there's a WW meeting about 15 houses away at the amenity center at the top of my street. But she is absolutely the WORST leader, and everyone around here who's tried her agrees. It's ALL ABOUT HER and her family and she's BORING. So I started going to meetings elsewhere b/c there's a really good leader. In fact today is the meeting but I'm trying to stay close to home until it warms up past freezing. My lungs can't take it! But a GOOD leader makes SO MUCH DIFFERENCE. For me it's the difference between WANTING to be there and RESENTING spending an hour of sheer boredom.
I think I'll sous vide a pork tenderloin w/ some baked potatoes and spinach. B/c that's about all I have in the house. Tomorrow I'll make it to the store b/c it's supposed to be in the 40's. Well time for a breathing treatment. Ciao all.

SUZE though I like the idea of getting more protein in w/ oatmeal, I'm afraid that egg thing would ruin both the oatmeal AND the egg. But probably shouldn't knock it til I try it. And thanks for the reminder. I'll put turkey sausage on my grocery list for tomorrow. Though I may wait until Friday b/c I have to go to the dentist then anyway. I'm so out of energy between coughing, being sick and lack of sleep I may consolidate my activities into 1 day. I HAVE to be well by 1/20 when I leave for my cruise dang it.
ANGIE good luck w the trainer. He's probably going to think "OMG she's the WORST trainee I've ever had"..... NOT! haha

CELESTE- DH is planning to retire in about 18 months. I still have 11 years MINIMUM. I worry about the finances of it all since he didn't start saving until he was over 40. But we should have everything paid off by then (house, camper, truck). The only exception might be his Cabella's credit card, which I made him transfer to a zero percent interest card that has a 2 year interest free period. We certainly won't starve! In fact, I'm thinking we can live on my salary alone for a few years to let his SS grow. (Couples live on less all the time, I just haven't crunched numbers to see how it would work.)
I went to the store and stocked up on healthy low point foods. Just need to do some meal planning and preparation. But for now, I think Im gonna go get on the treadmill for a while.
Oh, and CELESTE, someone on WW Connect mentioned that Leslie Sansone has walking videos on YouTube in case you want to check them out. (Once you stop coughing!)

CELESTE when I've had that coughing the only thing that helps is a cough syrup or pill with codeine. It's a catch 22...you can't sleep for coughing but you need to sleep to help your body get well. I feel for you.

The cough syrup they gave me was phenergan with codiene. Didnโt stop my coughing or out me to sleep. My dd, the nurse says itโs the bronchial spasms that is making me cough
