Good morning and Happy New Year's Eve,
Still huddled under the blankets. Didn't get up in time to get ready for church. Will shower & get out to pick A's friend up after lunch and stop at HEB to get a few items I forgot the other day. Got on the scale this morning and then had to get on a 2nd time to make sure it read out correctly.......199.9....for a 3.4 lb loss. Do y'all know what kind of motivation that is? Will plan out meals for the week and get myself on the treadmill at least 3x this week.
Need to get moving. Y'all have a great Sunday! Stay warm. It is cold out there....not as cold as Angie....but still cold for us southern gals.

Yeah Sandy & Steph on the nice losses over the holidays π
Connie....last night of work for the year! Hope on your week off you can kick the crud.
Get well vibes for all of you & spouses & kids who are still fighting the respiratory gunk. Sure seems to hang on forever.
Sunny & bright here. Got a couple of inches of fluffy, sparkly snow....very pretty from inside. Outside.....-14 when we ventured out for church. But it wasnβt windy, so the quick sprints into & out of church werenβt too bad. Iβm not looking forward to going out again tonight....just seems colder in the dark. Wonder if we could FaceTime with out friends....they could just show us the delicious meal, wish one another happy new year & call it a cyber celebration πΎ π ?? Probably not, but it would suit me just fine.

CONNIE ROFLMAO AND OMG @ Billy Joe! Bob was known to everyone as BOBBY when I met him and I said BOBBY is either 10 years old or loves NASCAR neither of which was compatible w/ my mindset, so I started calling him Bob (He's really John Robert). I think I'm the only person who calls him Bob. Unless I'm making fun of him. Then he's Johnny Bobby. But lately I've been calling him John b/c 1) it IS his 1st name and 2) I love the name JOHN but he says it's like being named after a toilet. Do your parents live in WVa? I feel as if they live kind of close. I have heard from other Pittsburgers that they love Pittsburgh. I feel like it was recently voted best large city to live in or something like that. LOUISE when I cough and KNOW there's crap in there but can't get it up, that's when I know I'm in trouble. Since due to your reminder, I've started using the nebulizer proactively in the AM and before bed, I've been pretty productive and stayed loose so I'm hopeful. But been there done that where you are. Are you using your nebulizer treatment regularly? It's a PITA but I think it's helping me a lot. SANDY you may be our big winner on the challenge. I am down 2.2 which is about 1% of my starting weight so I am not the winner. I was down 5.6 but gained 3 lbs or so back since St. Louis. I ate very "richly" up there and it was too damn cold to do anything outside so I sat on my ass most of the time. Then I got home and am SO sick that I eat whatever works in my FODMAP. I'm carbing like a fool w/ taters and toast. BUT still better to be down 2.2 than UP 2.2 so I'll happily write you a check. Wasn't if for $1? hahahahaha Brunch was grilled cheese sandwich w/ left over ham. And a Cutie. I NEED to get to the store. But it's COLD out there and I'm afraid it will mess w/ my lungs. It's not supposed to go above freezing until Wednesday!!!! Just waiting for my toilet to freeze. I try to remember to flush it every hour or so (not sure if that helps) but the pipe to the toilet is on a north facing wall and that's where that bitter cold wind hits the house.

STEPH have you lost most of that by following the new WW? That's so inspirational and I look forward to trying the new program when I get off this FODMAP crap. My gut feels fine now so my brain says "Screw Fodmap" but I do NOT want to go through the pain I was living with before I started. I still need to identify the offenders. So far so good on GARLIC which I put in my crock pot beef stew (usually I don't but I have to eat garlic, and plenty of it, for 3 days)
ANGIE LOL on the "cyber celebration." Sounds like a great idea in this cold. And I thought WE WERE COLD.
I'm still in my PJ's. I didn't get out of bed until after 11AM! I was coughing intermittently through out the night. I'd Vicks up again, get a Fisherman's friend cough drop and then eventually fall back to sleep. Lather rinse repeat. But all in all I think I got a good amount of sleep. I'm just run down and worn out.
So I have to put on clothes and go grocery shopping. UGH. But sending Bob is worse than getting out. He can't read a grocery list even when he takes photos of the items I want. USE-LESS in a grocery store. And then there's the Keytruda thing. His next IV is Thursday so he's not as fatigued. The good news is (don't know if this is wishful thinking on his part) it APPEARS some of the squamous lesions on his 1 arm are shrinking. His neck is the same. But the doctor DID say that he was hoping for some immediate evidence that it's working, so maybe it is. Bob needs a break on this cancer thing. He's had it since BEFORE I met him almost 15 years ago. When the 2 MORONIC dermatologists in a row said "here, put this cream on it." SMH

I have the SECOND try at the Chicken Cauliflower Rice Soup that I sent y'all the other day in my crockpot. already smells a LOT better - probably due to the chicken broth instead of the veggie broth I am using. Will send new recipe later IF this one tastes better. Also used several other seasonings too.
Temp here is in low 50's right now, so I am going to go fill up my car with gas (instead of having to do that in REALLY cold temps in a few days) and make a quick run to Walmart for a couple of things like fresh fruit. Biggest issue is what to do about the neighborhood cat I have been feeding and who seems to have adopted me. His pet parents (mom is okay, dad and their son are not mean to him, but don't pay much attention to him) are not abusers but surely could help him a lot more. Not sure where he was during Harvey, but he is healthy now.
I have PLENTY of food in the house that will make it thru Thursday when temps are supposed to be in the low 40's instead of low 30's. We S Texans are sooooooo not used to this kind of COLD damp weather.
Steph, I have not looked at the recipes you sent the other day, but they seem to be quite WW friendly or easily adaptable to WW Freestyle. What we have been told is to only count the foods that are not on the 0 SP foods list and apply those to the count for the recipe. Not hard to do so if a recipe is not changed over to Freestyle, it can be done that way.
I dropped another 0.8 yesterday at WI so that makes 7.4 since Freestyle started.

Happy New Years Eve everyone.
Congrats to Sandy,Steph,Mary and Celeste on your losses.
I am happy to still be a little under goal.
Steph We didn't go to church but Kenneth went to HEB.It took him well over 1 hr to get out of there they were so busy and he's not a slow shopper. It's 32 here now so I'm sure you are at or below that.Have you been doing Freestyle?
Healing vibes to all who are feeling bad.
Angie it's windy here which is what makes it seem so cold.Scooter won't go out except to use the bathroom.
I hope Bob does have success with the chemo drug Celeste.
We are staying in tonight but poor Kenneth is out feeding the cattle in 32 actual degree weather.Who knows what it is with the wind chill factor.
My goal for January is pretty much to stay at or under goal.If I am able to lose a little fine.If not I'm happy where I'm at.

Happy New Year Eve! Well, i will wait till we get home to really get into the new program. Being that we are in the transition of getting ready to go home, it is hard to be able to get into it. But when we come back at the end of January I will have everything planned out according to the new WW plan. Tonight we are going to the New Year's Eve buffet at the club. I will try not to be too bad. We are going to have our Black Eye Peas tomorrow. At least I know they are on plan. Will season them with some ham hock, onion, green pepper and seasonings. Normally i would do it the South Louisiana way and also put celery ( the Trinity) but didn't want to buy a whole thing of celery just for this. We eat it as the Southerns do--Hoppin' John, eaten over rice, for good luck. Tradition says you are also suppose to eat cabbage but no way I would get DH to eat it. I will go easy on the rice . Think we have decided on cabinets and counter top. Will go see person Tuesday. He will have a design for us. Hi to all. Will go back and read the posts in a bit. BBL

Ok ladies, I need those final weights to tabulate challenge results. As for me, I ended at 185. That's UP 3.5 pounds. ( WHA WHA WHA )
STEPH- Your final weight actually puts you down 3.8 pounds since the beginning of the challenge. That's a 1.865% loss.
SANDY- Congrats on your loss. Unfortunately, you opted out at the beginning of this one. Otherwise you would have given STEPH a run for the money!
CELESTE- so is your weight 215.4? That's 2.2 from what I had as your start weight.
Need the final weight for SUZE, LOUISE, and ANGIE.

MARY it's definitely soup weather. Currently 23 and feels like 9! I have beef stew in the crockpot so that sounds good too. I think I want Pho. Maybe Tuesday b/c then I'm adding onions so I can have pho since it's rice noodles and is gluten free. I just got back from Walmart and it was so picked over. No celery or leeks. 1 container of fresh spinach. The produce and meat must have missed a delivery or else people went shopping like crazy so they could get back before this crap weather got here. Everything is frozen. Puddles. Windshields, moisture on roofs. Sad about that kitty. My son has a cat he got 10 yrs ago as a kitten. But between now having 2 dogs and a baby, the cat kind of gets dropped thru the cracks. It LOVES it when I get there. Sleeps on my chest and it's normally not one to sleep on people. I keep threatening to put him in my suitcase and take him home! Congrats on your freestyle loss. I'm so envious and really looking forward to getting to try legumes, cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts and all those lovely veggies I can't have on low FODMAP. So far the garlic I had last night hasn't bothered me. Tuesday I'll add onions. LIVING LARGE haha
CONNIE you're spot on on my weight. I WAS down to 212.2 before I went up to STL and then got sick. When I started the challenge I wasn't FODMAP so when I couldn't Freestyle, or eat so many of those veggies, I knew I wasn't going to lose much. So I'll happily take that couple of pounds down. Is it $5 or $10 and just let me know where to send the check. Once I can Freestyle I hope we can do this again.
BECKY since HEB was so crowded and busy maybe that's what happened to Walmart. Everyone hit it earlier and cleaned it out.
TERRY Bob usually has me make black eyed peas for NY. But since I can't have any legumes (or cabbage) on low FODMAP I told him he was on his own. Hence.... he's not having them (Boy can't cook to save his life ... can't even open a CAN of beans I guess).
LOUISE good for your DD! Have you been to an allergist for testing? I haven't and I think I should. I'll bring it up w my new PCP next time I see him.
Time for the stew. I didn't have the right kind of taters so these are all falling apart. I'm sure it will taste good tho.

SANDY my sister and I read through cards and letters β¦ so many things. The blue hat sounds really nice. I remember going through a bunch of papers that were being tossed, there was the brochure from the ocean liner my mom took to Germany in 1951 with her name it, and stuff like that. Pretty cool. My thing is the prayer cards you get from funerals. I have a bunch of them Iβve collected over the years, along with some found at Momβs house put away in a tin box. I hope Dale feels better soon. Way To GO on that loss! Woohoo!
ANGIE this IS the time of year for bargains on mattresses. Glad you found what you wanted. Ugh on mattress shopping. I hope it is many years before I have to go again.
CELESTE sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well. And this cold doesnβt help β especially the freezing temps expected the next few days. Oh SHEESH on that crown. Iβve been so careful with my temporary β but would never expect one to come out with toast. Crossing my fingers for Bob and that he is seeing improvement.
Sis and I just got back from dinner at a local bar/grill she likes. Very good. We both had the surf & turf mac & cheese to send out 2017! Today was another day of visiting and we also saw Jumanji β it wonβt get an Oscar but it was enjoyable. And Iβll look at Duane J. a.n.y. d.a.y. Nothing else but a shower and jammies in store for this NYE. Iβm catching an early flight back so will not be up at midnight.
CONNIE letβs hope your work this NYE is uneventful and smooth sailing. My niece is a doctor at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and she LOVES Pittsburg. So much to do and she loves her sports. Although as a die-hard Red Wings fan she crosses the line a bit, lol. Oh and donβt wait for me; Iβll WI on my normal WI day Tuesday but I can tell you Iβm definitely not a loser for the challenge. I just need to get a starting point for moving forward.
Oh LOUISE those non-productive coughs are tough. I hope that the congestion starts to break up soon. You have had the crud way too much. Wow you dd has done wonderfully. Congratulations to her!
Woohoo STEPH! Keep up that great progress.
BECKY you and Kenneth stay warm ( and Scooter too!) Lulu has been making pretty quick runs out to p, and just barely gets off the sidewalk to do so. Sheβs going to be even colder this week.
Hi TERRY and MARY⦠Happy New Year to all!

Sent y'all the new recipe for the soup (included BOTH versions, original and what I made today). MUCH better!
Goals for January: 1) drop 6 pounds (current weight is 216.4) 2) get 5000+ steps 5 out of 7 days a week 3) continue with WW Freestyle
Went to Walmart; came out and the wind seemed colder Go fill up my car with gas (did NOT want to have to do that before Thursday) even though I probably could have made it the rest of the week without Get in my car at the convenience store - dashboard says 54; WeatherBug App says 45 with wind chill of 38 Get home (less than 2 miles) and dashboard says 50 WeatherBug App now says 37 with wind chill of 27! This is just under 2 hours later (insert shivering emoji) We are under a "freeze watch" until 9 a.m. Tuesday and "wind chill advisory" until 12 noon tomorrow
GOOD thing I have food etc for several days for me and the cats Next thing is to go make sure the neighborhood cat is okay in my garage and I am going to shut the garage door instead of leaving it up a few inches (there is a litter box in the garage for him)

It is 30 here and there is a ice film on the banister to our ramp.Since it's metal it always freezes faster. There is just a slight mist out there now.Scooter will go out long enough to p and someone is popping fireworks so she won't go out for long anyway.
Celeste HEB is the more popular of the 2 stores here. Our local WM is only really busy on weekends but the weather must have driven everyone to the stores.Kenneth found everything we needed but it just took a long time.
Louise Congrats to your DD on losing so much weight.
Suze I'm glad you are having a good time with your sis.
