I have never been one for fad diets or quick weight loss diets. I always said I'd never do any other plan than weight watchers. But I have not had any success on weight watchers for almost a year. I'm sure it's ME and not the plan, but I can't seem to live on the plan full time. So I've decided to try following a Mediterranean style diet. It gets great reviews for being healthy and liveable. And I already love the foods they recommend, so I will give it a whirl. I am hoping to lose weight, but even if I don't, I understand it is good for your heart, cholesterol levels, triglycerides and has anti-inflammatory effects.
I got up far far too early today thanks to a phone call that I couldn't go back to sleep after. So I took that time to go to Kroger's and stock up on veggies, fruit, Greek yogurt, lentils and whole grains. Supper tonight was a kale salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing followed by some vanilla triple zero Greek yogurt topped with granola sweetened with honey. This diet is supposed to be a good way to stay satisfied between meals, minimizing the urge to snack. I've got my fingers crossed.

Connie Good luck on the Mediterranean diet.Despite the commercials not all people can do freestyle & lose.I couldn't.Mary was very successful. JT has lost weight on it(she will probably be surprised how much when she gets her cast off).
It seems quite a few people haven't had success on it b/c in some areas they are having meetings for struggling members. It seems to me if an organization who has never had to do this before has to have meetings for people not clicking with the current program it's the program and not all the people eating either too many 0 point foods or not using portion control with the 0 point foods.I always need protein but your salad and yogurt sounds good.I find I like the Chobani ff plain Greek yogurt with fruit.

Hi all. Hope everyone is well. I'd be a violet. We started the day cool with showers and ended with sunshine and 75. Turned out nice. Severe thunderstorms for tomorrow. Strange weather, but glad it's not 95 or more.
Had a nice dinner with my son, daughter and hubby tonight. It was nice not having a huge crowd in the restaurant and being able to sit and chat and not feel like we were being rushed out.
Happy Tuesday all. Have a great day.

AHHHH SPRING ANGIE. And JT. I've heard there is such a thing. It's summer here for sure.
BECKY I agree that it's best that there are no surprises. My ex was very secretive about income and outgo. I mean if I wanted to buy something I bought it but I really didn't know where we stood and he was ALWAYS putting it off when I'd ask to have a sit down and discuss it. But he earned all the money so as long as I could use it I didn't press it. But Jannie is an equally contributing partner financially speaking so for him to keep this secret... well she does partially blame herself for being unaware. YOU KNOW that won't happen again. And the thing is, God forbid, if the person "in control" would die, the surviving partner NEEDS to know. Life is unpredictable.
CONNIE as far as diets go, WW works for lots of people. Now how sustainable? Well as I said my meetings are full of returnees. And lifetimers who gained their weight... several times over. There's that old definition of insanity. Sure we've all had successes on WW and most of us have had just as many failures. I think your approach to HEALTHY eating is smart. If it's sustainable and healthy that's IMHO the best thing. But what do I KNOW???
SUZE I LOVE the name Poppy. My DD has it in the running for her baby behind Sawyer and Scout. I think I'd be GERANIUM. No no... BEGONIA!!! nO NO NO... SNAPDRAGON. That's it. Snapdragon Barker. hahaha Not really. Sweet Pea. yup that's me. I'll be Sweet Pea.
So anyway, you're looking at the chick w/ the MOST BUNCOS tonight worth the top prize of $31. Yeah... I'm good. I'm cool.
Then I had to walk a couple of miles in the dark between 9 and 10. It was still so hot but I got my 8500+ steps in. I'm a sweaty betty.
JT how long until your next ortho visit?
Well I need... as in NEED a shower and then I'll get ready for bed. Night all.

Made it home late afternoon, yesterday. 2 loads of laundry & wings for dinner. Jumped right into work this morning with state testing. Maybe one day I'll catch up with all that's going on around here.
Night.

Welcome home STEPH. Hang in there, the school year will be over soon.
Got to work and they were short an evening shift tech and my midnight tech called in as well. So I'm working alone tonight. Apparently I will be alone tomorrow, too unless they can find someone willing to get overtime. Not likely on this shift. Oh well. They will just have to understand meds will take longer to be sent to the floors. You can only do so much.

Good Morning~ CELESTE now that’s thinking out of the box on your DD and the name “Poppy”. Love it. Yowsers on the win! Don’t spend that $31 all in one place.
So did y’all KNOW what you were naming your children? Or did you have a couple names picked out and decided when you first laid eyes on him/her? I would think you would have to see the baby first, then go… oh yeah, he/she is definitely a XXX.
Hi STEPH – things will calm down soon – hang in there!
LOL CONNIE I do like that name.
As I said yesterday, grades should roll around noon and then I’ll get busy. I’ve already got a full mailbox with students inquiring about their grades “what do I do???” Uh, maybe think about it more BEFORE now? Oh well, we just keep rolling along.
Enjoy the day - BBL

CONNIE yes the one thing you don't want is a pharmacist in a hurry b/c those orders need to be CORRECT. And you're absolutely right. You can only do what one human being can do. Hope there are no codes or major emergencies so you can have a smooth night.
SUZE I think Mer and Chris have SAWYER in the top spot. I am biting my tongue b/c the only Sawyer as a first name was the winner on THE VOICE one year. And my gosh HE was weird. Waist length hair and this dumb derby hat that he wore every single time. And he was VERY pale. Raised on a farm but he looked like that farm was WOODSTOCK and he was right out of the late 60's. I haven't mentioned it to her b/c ruining their first choice of names would NOT make her happy and then it'd be MY FAULT. Her ACTUAL 1st choice would be Scout b/c To Kill a Mockingbird is her favorite book. If it had been a boy it would have been Atticus w/ no others in the running. But she named her cat Scout and that might make for some confusion. So I think SAWYER will win but I'm voting for Poppy. Actually I'll vote for CHRISIDITH. It's unique!
When I was deciding, Meridith was between Meridith and Chelsea. (and Prunella but that's another story). Ryan was between Ryan, Timothy and Randall. He was JUST on the leading cusp of the zillion Ryans. There were only 40 guys in his graduating class and either 4 or 6 Ryans!! 2 classes above him? NONE. AND Meridith had a Ryan Barker in her class. But I still like it.
And if I had to wait to see a baby to name it, all babies would have the same first and 2nd names. Squirmy Blob.
Have fun w/ the onslaught of people objecting to and questioning their grades. Don't roll your eyes TOO far back in your head b/c they might stick that way.
Do you know that the average American checks their phone 80 times a DAY!!! WHAAAT? (I'm about 80 times a year). Mostly for social media. And on a 1-10 scale of anxiety if you were deprived of your phone, people were averaging a 7!! I have a landline for IMPORTANT calls incoming or outgoing. My cell is for when I am on the road, and then more likely for the GPS! Maybe if I had a better phone.... Usually I have no idea where the phone is. And Suze can tell you, the chances of me replying to a text I'm not expecting w/in the same day is ZILCH!! LOL
Allergies: BAD Temperature: BAD Chances of walking outside: REALLY REALLY BAD.

CELESTE omg yes, you cannot let that little opinion slip, lol. CHRISIDITH? Lawdy. I vote for Poppy – it’s just so dang happy sounding. Or MERICH! (like Merrick) You know, I am quite brilliant. My niece's name is Violet Celeste and I think she has a quirky cute name, and she is a quirky, cute, free-spirited kid! Got an appt with the new gyn for the 29th. I was very pleased in speaking with her nurse – she was not surprised nor made me feel dumb in any way about my questions about hormones. And she agreed, things can definitely change in 7 years so my request was not out of line at all. Oh and sometimes I wish that cell phones were never invented! Yes, do not call CELESTE on her cell phone or text and expect an answer, unless you have pre-arranged through email for her to have her cell phone . Reading more of the NoS book is helping me tweak the program – as in less cheating or slope sliding, and I remain optimistic about gaining better eating habits, and lose some poundage. I notice that, knowing that you have a one layer meal on one plate, you do being to choose which foods will keep you satisfied until the next meal. Quality over quantity I guess. If I have to fit bread on the plate, I’m probably not going to eat it. And the only reason I want seconds is because it’s good, not because I’m hungry, so the one plate rule definitely curbs that temptation. I don’t crave sweets, do need to cut back further on DC (I am looking for unsweetened green tea to take with me to work), which will put me at less than 16 oz a day. I defiantly threw out FF dressings and bought some real ranch, lol. WI was today, I had gained 3# from slope sliding, but took 2# off this week, so I’m still 1# over my posted wt and heading in the right direction. Have a headache (old news). Waiting for those grades… waiting…

It was a good thing we had kids before I became a teacher.....because once you do that for a few years, certain names would be forever banned for consideration. Once in awhile I had to tell a “Nicholas / Nick” to shape up for fear of disgracing my favorite son’s name. One such kid told me years later that he still remembered that...and he really turned out to be a nice young man.
My flower name ... would have to be Daisy
Today is our 42nd anniversary ... enjoying the time with family, relaxing, & day dreaming about the next adventures.
Connor napping ... porch time for me. One of those rare perfect MN days....75, sunny, calm, no bugs.
