Celeste Your ex reminds me of a friend of ours. Her DH didn't even pay the bills at home b/c he didn't want her to know how much they had or didn't had.Well he died first and guess what? You got it.She knew absolutely nothing about their finances. She eventually got everything straightened out but it took a while. She too didn't work and he did and brought in all the money so as long as they had money she didn't question it.Kenneth doesn't even want me to pay bills online in case I go first b/c he knows nothing about computers. Now give him a paper statement and a checkbook and he's good to go.I do pay one bill online b/c they started sending e-statements and I don't remember signing up for them. After I pay it off I am not going to order from them anymore.
Welcome home Steph. I'm sure school can't be out soon enough for you.Hang in there.
If I ever check my phone 80 times a day you all have permission to commit me to the nearest mental hospital.I use mine for the Fitbit app and Itrackbites and an occasional call.
Suze I have cut down to 1 DDP. I'm not giving up that one a day.I have heard that you can't lose drinking diet sodas which I know is a lot of bunk b/c I did it but I never realized it could slow down your metabolism.I read that online and I don't know if that's true but I'm not losing but I'm not gaining much either but just in case.I would rather have coffee than diet sodas or I always have ice tea.Good for you on the WI.Hope your headache goes away.I have a backache.Maybe we can get them together & they will both go away.

Happy Anniversary ANGIE! ๐๐บโค๏ธ
It is a sweltering, humid 91 degrees here. That's July weather for WV. We are supposed to get thunderstorms tonight. We need the rain after 4 solid days of upper 80s and low 90s. Hoping Joe can get the grass mowed before it rains.
Last night at work was quiet. Monday nights often are. Tonight will probably be a bit busier. At least I am assured of getting my steps in when I don't have a tech.
If I had ever had a girl, her name would have been Sarah Grace. Sarah because of two songs I love (Sara by Fleetwood Mac and Sarah Smile by Hall and Oats) and Grace after my maternal Grandmother. Never wanted a boy, but would name him Devin Sloan after that guy from high school who had such a cool name. Come to think of it.....Devin Sloan COULD be a girl name.
Ok, need to get out of bed. Had another kale salad and yogurt with granola last night at work followed by avacado toast this morning. Am thinking about making a quinoa salad for supper. May add chicken to the quinoa salad. Or may just eat that last kale salad I bought. It was so much yummier than I expected. I can see it becoming a regular purchase. Can take the quinoa to work.

When it comes to family finances, I have complete control. When I met DH his finances were a mess! Little wonder following 2 divorces in which he gave away everything just to get out. And his parents were never ones to save. His dad was promised a lucrative pension from a company he worked at for 35 years. Then they went bankrupt and couldn't pay it. Talk about a shock! That was unheard of at the time. But over the years, he has made great improvements to his savings habits. He is still a bit of a spendthrift tho. I was a little shocked 3 years ago when I first consulted the financial guy and had to get an accounting of DHs debts. We had to have a "Come to Jesus" meeting over it. I felt bad because I felt like a mean mom scolding a naughty child! But we came up with a payoff plan and I believe all of his debts will be paid by the time he retires. The only thing that gets me is that now he is determined to buy a boat so he can fish in retirement. (He already HAS a bass boat...he wants a fancier one). And he doesn't understand the concept of delayed gratification. I would prefer he wait until a year after he retires to see how our finances settle out once we are down to one income and his retirement. Will raise this concern with the financial guy during our meeting. We'll see how it goes.
I think finances are the single issue in life I stew about the most.

OK SUZE I just literally LOL'd... and loudly... about having to schedule a phone call via email. SO TRUE!!! OMG I need to get smart phone savvy. First I need a better phone AND a better provider. UGH And SUZE I DO absolutely think that the only way No S is going to work longer term is to REMEMBER the S days. The tendency to "well I've done so well all week I'll keep it up thru the weekend" I think is a recipe for failure as far as sustainability. All of us can do ANY diet for a few weeks. Sticking w/ it is the rough part and the reward on the weekends is vital IMHO. I mean people go to work b/c they get a pay check. People study hard b/c they get grades. people work in a garden or paint a house b/c it looks GREAT when it's finished. We all want a pay-off at least for most things. Even if the pay-off is "i did this for that person or charity or whatever and they are happier b/c of it." I want to feel good and rewarded. Not bad and deprived. AND YAYYYYYYYYY on tossing the FF dressings. I BOUGHT REAL CHEESE! SO take THAT!! PS: I've been right at the same weight since I started No S. Bob has lost 4 lbs. I HATE HIM. WOOO HOOO on 42 Angie! And they said it wouldn't last! BECKY if I CAN pay bills online I will. Some things (property taxes and my gardener) have to have paper checks. This sounds nuts but paying online seems less "painful" to me. CONNIE I love the name Grace. Should I say LOVED? Like Angie w/ her student, I knew a kid named Grace and she was a HUGE PITA. and SO not a Grace. Devin Sloan is a guy's porn star name! Hey... rip the rawhide to me Devin Sloan!! (not even sure what that means. It just sounded porny w/o actually being so). So my housekeeper and I were talking last week about galinas. And huevos. She saw that I had gone to the farm to pick up some fresh eggs. So today I got out of the shower and went to the kitchen and there on my counter was a bowl w/ at LEAST 3 dozen eggs! I was WHERE THE HECK DID THESE COME FROM. Classic double take. Head shake, Stared at the bowl and knit my brow. Then a few minutes later my housekeeper came back in the house. She doesn't knock. She has a key. She SCARED THE CRAP outa me. LOL These eggs were amazing but I have enough for about a month! B/c I just bought 2 doz from the local farm.LOL Good thing Im' making quiche tonight. Maybe I'll make 2. I wonder if they freeze??

OH CONNIE if (never gonna happen) Bob and I married I wouldn't let him touch a checkbook w/ a 10 foot pole. Same w/ him. 2 divorces, a MESS financially included a bankruptcy. His mom and sister also don't save a dime. When Bob's grandfather died, Bob's mom came into a bit of money and she couldn't spend it fast enough. It's all gone and she's refinanced the house so many times, that after owning it for 30+ years she has NO equity. I have to say that since being w/ me Bob's still a financial mess. He needs dental work and will probably finance it. He gets a car paid for and is IMMEDIATELY looking for a replacement. Sometimes he doesn't even GET IT paid off and he trades it in. But he's getting better about that (a little) and at least his credit score is finally into the 700's I think. So your taking over finances probably makes BOTH of you happy. UGH on the FANCIER BASS BOAT (or fancier car). You sure his name isn't BOB?? I tell Bob at this rate he'll be able to retire in about 20 years (he's 58). AND GIRLLLLLLLLL you sure don't want to have to work until you're 78!!
Does anyone know off hand. Does quiche freeze?

CELESTE- no idea on the quiche. And Joe really has made GREAT strides is his finances. His credit score is also in the 700s now. He saves 10% in his 401k and his company puts in another 4%. And today, he used his birthday and Yardsale money to pay off the camper. When we bought the camper and his truck, we did so with designs of having them paid for in time for his retirement. He has 7 more payments on his truck. And the truck has very few miles because he has a company truck that he drives 98% of the time. In fact, his personal truck is parked at the rental so people think someone lives there. Once the truck is paid off, that money will go towards his remaining debt. I seriously think he can be debt free within a year......IF he doesn't go get a bass boat!
Can I just say the quinoa salad I made was so good that tasting it turned into eating at LEAST a full serving....After the kale salad. Now I feel stuffed! So excited that the foods I'm eating are so incredibly yummy. Was afraid at first that this would be bland and boring. And was concerned I might not be able to cut back on eating meat. So far, so good.

B.C. (before Celeste) Bob was still enmeshed in a bankruptcy and his utilities were constantly getting "before we cut you off" reminders. So for him to get into the 700's is HUGE. Now at least he pays his bills on time. He may have too many bills (credit card, car note mostly) but he pays them on time. So progress, not perfection.
I've never developed a taste for quinoa. With no sense of taste, it's actually about texture and couscous and quinoa both feel like soft sand to me. Now KALE? I like that. Every once in a while I buy it and just saute'/steam it w/ simple seasonings and I'm always surprised at how simple, how easy and HOW TASTY it is. **Putting kale on my grocery list for tomorrow**
So my quiche came out very tasty but it was all falling apart and not sure why. I just used a frozen WM pie crust and I did pre-bake it. maybe not enough. But as tasty as it was (w/ sides of brussels sprouts and mandarin orange), it wasn't satisfying b/c my brain says "Where's the beef??" My stomach doesn't say that (and I am differentiating) but I'm just not satisfied. If I weren't doing No S I'd be in the fridge, foraging. But I know that Meal #3 is still in my agenda today so I'll be O.K.
I've got just under 5K steps so I need 3500 more. It's cooled down a bit so I'll probably go in about an hour and walk my neighborhood. My surgery knee is bugging me so it will be a slowwwww walk.

Is it possible to freeze quiche? Do not thaw before baking. ... To freeze quiche after baking: Tray-freeze; then wrap with freezer paper, heavy-duty aluminum foil, or slide it into a freezer bag. Seal, label and freeze up to two months. Do not thaw before reheating.
Celeste, I googled quiche for you. I have never frozen it. You asked when my ortho appt is, the 24th. I'm hoping to lose the cast and go in to a splint.
So, weird CT weather - we had severe thunderstorms and a tornado come through. Major hail, damaging winds, but not a lot of rain. At our house, we had a few branches come down. Power flickered on and off a few times. Major damage all around us. Thankfully, no major damage here.
Angie, happy #42!! That's awesome. I spoke with my brother in New London, Iowa a little while ago. You had a beautiful spring day out there. He said it was @ 72 and sunny. . Okay, tired here tonight. Every night......I'm not sleeping well with the cast, better than I was, but still not great. I wake up several times a night trying to get comfortable.
Happy Wednesday!!

Celeste You mean it's actually cooled down?I have to eat protein for every meal or I'm not satisfied. For breakfast I had 2 waffles,no eggs or any other protein.Yep I've been hungry all day but I've finally gotten satisfied. If I were the one paying the bills I would pay the CC bills online but Kenneth likes a paper receipt & if he's willing to write out the checks more power to him I figure.I schedule them & figure out how much to pay each month but he does the rest.He would really be lost if I died before him if I did them online since he doesn't ever get on a computer. He doesn't even have a smartphone. He's a country boy(well man)and that's what I love about him.
I haven't gotten any of my steps outside today. We went to Manor and I walked around WM a good bit while shopping and I have gotten 1 hr done on the bike in 3 different sessions plus my 250 steps/hr this afternoon.
26 SP 15,000 steps bike-60 min water-100 oz(I'll probably be up all night with all that water) 1 DDP

JT thx for the quiche update. And I actually just put your ortho date in my online calendar b/c that will keep me from asking every 2 min "Is it ortho yet? Is it ortho yet?" And I have enough sleep issues that add a cast on to it? I'd have to call Michael Jackson's Dr Conrad Murray to bring some of his propofol. And wow when I think tornadoes, CT doesn't spring right to my mind!!
BECKY I just got back from walking about a mile and a half and it's WONDERFUL out there. I'd like it better if the breeze came back but the temp was great and no skeeters (yet). And yeah I get it about Kenneth wanting paper bills and doing paper checks. I have friends who are like that, and they even are relatively computer savvy. ME? though I pay all my bills online, I still like them to send me a paper copy of the bill. I file that w/ all pertinent information written on it.
8500 steps: Yup. I walked around in the dark from 9 to about 9:40 to get there, but I GOT THERE. So NO S: yup. I still have meal 3 to eat and it will be 2 chicken thighs and a small salad, and a slice of buttered rye bread. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I need to go to the store tomorrow to get some lettuce and some kale among other things.
Good night all. So for now... sleep well.

It's been 7 hours since my last meal and I'm just now getting hungry. Talk about quinoa being filling! And I had forgotten that it is not only a whole grain, but a complete protein. I'm sure that's why it's so filling.
One of the evening shift techs stayed over till 2am to help tonight. Good thing, too. We've been busy. Day shift gal is coming in at 6am to make solutions for the surgical cases. No way I could do that AND take care of orders. When I used to work alone all of the time, they were always made on day shift.
JT- thank goodness you didn't have damage from the storm. They are calling for storms in WV every day for the next week. My poor dog will be a nervous wreck.
