Thinking about getting up....have been awake since 6 but just kind of dozing off & on. Feel pretty good....no HA...yeah! Ready to tackle the day....and boy is it an exciting one! Laundry, put stuff from travel away, meet with the financial guys this afternoon.
Need to at least get my steps & water in today (& stay out of the pantry!) & ease back into a little more structure.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Guess when I started the thread I messed up and put MON-FRI instead of THUR. Ooops again.
ANGIE YAY on no headache!
CELESTE you don’t think you’d make a FB video? Very, very, odd. My headache has come and gone this week, but definitely not as bad as the last 2-3 weeks. After the little shower here this morning, it’s going to be a humid day. You’ve done really well increasing your steps!
OK need to finish up this academic standing notification process and move into appeals. Waving to everyone…Enjoy the day ~
Yesterday would have been a solid check on goals except I had seconds last night. Cole slaw…it was really good. Plan to do better today.
No Sweets, Snacks or Seconds 10K steps x 7 days Min 48 oz H20 per day 12 flights x 5 days 180 min exercise per week

hahaha ANGIE. THE FINANCIAL GUY. I wonder if you and Connie and I have the same one. THE financial guy. Have an enlightening meeting. And fingers crossed that you 'outslept' your HA.
hahaha SUZE the odds of my making a FB video on the BEST of days is slim to none. I also don't photograph my food and tell people when I'm at a store shopping. I'm so last century.
So I misplaced something (my iPod and iPad which were together). The last place i remembered putting them for charging... well they weren't there. I thought I scoured the house last night looking for them. Basically i went to every electrical outlet in the house. Mostly this house was built out of straw and chewing gum but they DID put in a ton of electrical outlets. I was moving furniture to see if anything was plugged in there and I'd forgotten. NOTHING. So today was going to be devoted for another search including drawers and under furniture. But I walked out and it's plugged in right next to the chair I always sit in. But there's a magazine on top. DOH. I spent HOURS looking and stewing about this.
WEDDING: get it OVER b/c I don't care. Lovely people but I don't care. SCHOOL SHOOTING: I'm strongly in the camp supporting our right to bear arms, but I'm also all for some kind of gun control (mostly background checks and what is the justification to own assault rifles) but what we ALSO NEED IS MENTAL HEALTH CARE! Some of these shooters are religious fanatics so it wouldn't help them. Some are just pure evil and you cannot cure evil. But many of them, esp kids, are mentally ill. We tell people w/ issues, "Here take this pill" and that's it. Who oversees compliance? And if that person is still hurting, pills are a bandaid. Not enough psychiatrists or facilities. I don't know the answer but I think that's something we, as a nation, should be working on.
Lord the allergens are out and dancing around and messing w/ my lungs. And nose and throat. Ahhhhhh TEXAS.

Celeste...we’re talking to the financial gurus about your favorite topic...SS! Thought we’d get their opinion on the options....though I know which makes the most sense to me. And I agree with you on both THE wedding (I do want to see her dress) & the shooting 😞 ... another senseless tragedy.
Suze....good luck with the notifications & appeals. Busy time! I would say if you are going to go off the rails & have seconds, coleslaw was a pretty harmless choice.
The pool guys are here! They got the new skimmers put in while we were gone, but now they will test them & proceed with opening...which basically means blow out the lines & get the pump circulating & throw in some chemicals. Then the in-house pool boy will go to work with filling, cleaning, & balancing. Oh yeah....and filling in the skimmer demolition mess.

Good afternoon…. Had lunch with my grad school “team” and the Associate Dean and Dean of Grad School. We are what we call back of the house; once admissions is done we handle everything else through graduation. Issues, policy, procedures, audits, graduation, academic action, dishonesty….. the fun stuff! Anyway, it was fine and a nice gesture on their part to talk in a relaxed atmosphere about business and just getting to know them.
The subject of the school shooting came up, and I was very surprised to hear that a lot of schools STILL do not lock their doors. I just figured that was a given EVERYWHERE, especially in these times if had not been done before, it certainly should be now. The Dean is giving presentations locally about the basic things that should be done (like locking doors, armed security). Seems like there is a lot of talk about the big ticket subjects, but maybe some basic common sense things are not being done. I am pro arms, pro background checks (that’s just common sense) but not quite there with banning assault rifles – which is an odd term, since all weapons can assault). Agree on mental illness/healthcare.
Wedding: Ditto – don’t know them, don’t care.
ANGIE pool time – yahoo!
I swear getting home insurance is ridiculous these days. It’s gotten so tight (unless you have a new home) in fact, my insurance agent said flat out insurance companies really only want to insure new homes. I know they want to take your money, but I also hear too many horror stories on getting them to pay out if needed. So I am going with a new insurance company, on my old home – which up until I did some outside upgrading I could only get cash value - and this time around, I had to send in a “renovation information form”. It asked so many questions about years updates were made, any cast iron pipes? Electrical details? licensed contractors, when was the water heater replaced, A/C unit serviced… I only know some of those things because I tore out down to the studs and have seen everything, but I don’t have any idea when the original updating was done, etc. And if you have not replaced your water heater within 7 years, they can deny you. Insurance NEVER used to be this difficult. I am sick to death of the way we’ve “improved.”
I sure do have a lot of opinions today.

Oh and one more thing. (and I can see CELESTE’s face now) So I called Karla last night and explained about Robbie and the meeting and all that. Karla cannot go because of her Dad (in the hospital, dying) and she said she didn’t have questions, so could I go with Robbie. She would appreciate it. I agreed – as a listener only – and I would contact Karla this weekend. I also told Rob that I understand Karla’s situation, but going forward she and Karla would have to work this out, without me. I have worried about this for a week or more. So I arranged to get off work, let Rob know that I will be there and this afternoon she text me to tell me “it’s ok if I can’t make it, don’t worry… I don’t want you to mess up your work… if there is nothing left for me, then so be it….” What IS that? After the arranging, calls, concern, blah blah blah. I’m going to this meeting and then I am done. I need to work on BOUNDARIES. As in a razor barbed wire electric fence, lol.

OH OH ... OH NO.... OH NO NO NO. DAMN I just threw my neck out from shaking it so vigorously after reading Suze's last post. OH. NO. YOU. DIDUNT! She's got some cheeky nerve and DO NOT let her play on guilt. Tell her you're not Jewish ... not even Catholic. So why doesn't she say the same thing to her niece? B/C she knows it won't work. And i do feel for the niece assuming the story of the dying dad in the hospital is legit. BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE YOUR CIRCUS. NOT YOUR MONKEYS! Let NO GOOD DEED GO UNPUNISHED!!!
I guess locking doors wouldn't have helped nor a ban on assault (meaning rapid fire, magazine fed) rifle. THis was an old fashioned shotgun and revolver, legally owned by the kid's dad and he would have been locked IN b/c he was a student. My 2 questions: Did the parents not have any CLUE as to how disturbed their son was? He said he was bullied.. do people really bully a LINEBACKER on the FB TEAM? And lastly I guess if someone bullies me, i can shoot them.
Allergies and coughing and sneezing are so bad I threw out my back dang it!! I was going to the pool but getting in the cool water (it's only heated by the sun that hits it) is probably not going to help. I like sitting in the sun and baking a bit but I need to spend most of my sun time in the water.

Horrible on the school shooting. I agree that mental health needs to be addressed. I also think we need to figure out some way to deal with the bullying on social media. How have we raised a generation of kids that attack each other like packs of wild animals? Is it poor parenting? Lack of religious teaching? How can these kids have so little empathy for each other? I just don't understand.
Finally got a decent day of sleep. Got off work and stopped at Kroger for more of that Mediterranean Crunch salad mix. And picked up a package of chicken. Not sure if I mentioned it, but the last pkg I bought was rancid. Over $14 worth of chicken had to be thrown in the trash. And it was still in date! So annoying. Neither of us have time to take it back for a refund, and I don't have the receipt anyway.
ANGIE- I'm going to drop our paperwork off to the financial guy early next week. CELESTE has me wondering.....are you using Mr. Winter? We have those SS questions as well.
One of the sheets I filled out was a cash flow worksheet. Eye opening where your money goes....even for me, who thought I had a pretty good handle on it. Clearly, DH is NOT the only one who likes to spend money!

CONNIE I remember bullies existing from time immemorial. Heck remember the Little Rascals? BUTCH? It's probably worse now, but I think FB etc contributes to being able to bully w/o having to actually face the person so it's 'easier'. It's also that social media highlights it more. Also I wonder when we raise kids and are afraid to ruin their little psyche... "Oh here's your PARTICIPATION medal" and like my kids school "We don't have valedictorians b/c everyone is a great student" OH PLEASE. Toughen up and face life in the real world. BUT.......... I do think parenting and firm moral/religious standards are often lacking in the home and community so we're not grounding them w/ exemplary expectations. Parents should know more about what their kids are doing. HECK it should be EASIER for them to keep track b/c of social media. But that takes effort.
But I wonder if every generation says "What's happening to this younger generation going to hell in a handbasket?"
I know what you mean about not taking something back to the store, b/c who has time? And the chicken would be a messy thing to return too w/ its original packaging. I know I'm constantly throwing away packaged lettuce mix Kroger and WM (not from Tom Thumb/Safeway... theirs seems better) b/c it's brown, slimy and ugly and it's WAY before it's due date. It's not worth my time standing in line to make a big deal about $1.98? But time and time again.
Also YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS those expenditure sheets are a COME TO JESUS moment. Things I never think of like tires, and gasoline, cosmetics, home maintenance, and pedicures, vacations and other travel, pet food and veterinary bills, medical bills, insurance and on and on and all of a sudden I'm thinking "so THAT is where my money goes." My financial guy wanted me to complete one, and I said "NOPE. No homework for me. I'm too old." But I HAD to do one for my divorce in order to justify my alimony amount and it was eye opening.
98 here NOT factoring in heat index and it's MUGGALICIOUS out there. So w/ the humidity it's 102. I didn't do ANYTHING TODAY. I barely stuck my nose out the door. I'll take this as one of my "pass days" on my 8.5 steps. So I have to get them in either on Sat or Sun and it's going to be scorchers then too.

Angie I'm glad your headache is gone.
Celeste That is the thing I don't miss about not being on Connect.Seeing everyone's pictures of food. It's bad enough on FB.I know you are going to be up at 4 in the morning to watch the wedding.
School shooting was absolutely horrific.Yes I agree with the 2nd Amendment.I believe the kids in today's world need a safe place where they aren't scared to go to school. No amount of gun control will get rid of the millions of guns already owned in TX.I agree that mental healthcare needs to be addressed.Kenneth & I have a difference of opinion in the background checks.I think we need it but he's owned guns since he was in HS and like all the boys in his class had a rifle in the gun rack in his PU.However in this case the guns were not just bought. They were not bought by the shooter.Showing up to school in a military style trenchcoat with a t-shirt saying born to kill is crazy. Also making bombs in a trailer owned by his parents close to the school is also crazy. Journaling about it and posting on the internet about should raise flags.I feel for those who were killed and injured and their families.
Suze I agree with you on schools and not locking their doors. At the very least what about metal detectors?
On the wedding:Having Prince Charles walking the bride down the aisle would make a freight train take a dirt road. He's ugly IMO. Okay Celeste I'm telling how I really feel about him.Not watching it...no way no how.
Suze Our home insurance doubled in price this year. They are only wanting to insure what it would bring if we had a fire or some tragic event which they claim is $60,000.We live in a 25 yo mobile home which we bought new when Kenneth's work paid off their profit sharing and we were able to pay cash for it.It's a single wide and no way would it cost $60,000 to buy an new single wide.A double wide would be twice as much if not more.I don't know your friend but her text saying if there was nothing left for her almost sounds like she expected you to feel guilty if you didn't go.I don't think she meant it that way but that is how I would have taken it but that's just me.You don't need to do anything but set your boundaries and set up a go fund me account for a prison wire fence around your yard and a different phone number.
Celeste Kenneth was bullied by one of his classmates in HS.He had a rifle in his PU.He didn't go get his gun.He found a Dr Pepper bottle on the school ground and hit the bully over the head. Now I know that's not a good way to handle a bully but he had his fill of the bully b/c it wasn't just one time. They did have school court but nothing happened except the bully never bothered him again. No banning of assault rifles wouldn't have done anything or locking the doors but something needs to be changed at the school and mental health level.Okay I need to get off my soap box now I guess.

School I spent many years as student & teacher Is all on one campus with many doors
People walked in and out
2 years ago —-new policy All Doors are locked Have to buzz & give reason for wanting in If you plan to go past front desk must sign in, wear visitor badge, leave drivers liscense & keys
Also designated employees with concealed hand gun liscense and pack a concealed pistol
Could still happen there
I think our society jumps to gun control
Of course we are country folk but when a student walks through door on hot day wearing a trench coat / maybe that’s a sign/ I don’t know but violent video games need to be addressed Along with bullies- parenting - social media
Do parents really know what their children are doing or too busy with their own life or their own social media
Just scary for parents to send their children to school, movies, mall??
What happened to parents who accompany their children rather than just send
I know we like in a different generation But my parents went with us

Hi all. Happy Friday finally. So sad about the shooting. I won't get into rights and mental illness. Way too many things need to change in this wacky world we live in. Remember I live in CT and have lived through the senseless killing of 20 babies and 6 adults by a sick young man. Both his parents and brother knew he was sick and did nothing. Until we deal with mental illness, nothing will change.
The wedding - I will not be going out of my way to watch it. Who cares? Now if they were smart enough to invite me, maybe I would feel like I should care. We will see pictures for the next 3 months, so I'm sure I won't miss anything!
Ladies, stay cool and hydrated. It is cool here and will be cooler tomorrow - 50's and rain. Brrrrrrrr!!
Happy Saturday!

Made it through the week. Long day and I'm exhausted...as usual. Hair cut planned for tomorrow. Need to actually go inside the grocery store and not do curbside. Reading posts and trying to catch up.
Night all.
