I've been thinking that as much as I like Joe Biden, I don't want him to run in 2020. I said this to DD on Saturday, and she surprised me by saying that she wants him to run because she thinks he CAN beat the JA. She thinks he is the only one who can take on the JA's extreme rhetoric one minute, and speak Presidentially the next making him the perfect candidate to go against the JA. What do you think?

Boy, thats interesting, Joyce, that your daughter feels that way. Maybe the younger generation is tuned into some things we probably take for granted. I think most of us like Joe, but he's been around so long for us, that maybe we are overlooking something in him that gives your DD hope that he could actually beat JA. I would prefer he did not run, but, then again I'm hoping no one has to "beat JA" cause JA won't be running because of the Mueller investigation. I can dream, right!?

I wonder if the CiC can be charged with inciting violence? Post Pittsburgh shooting, Trump again blames media for 'anger,' calls journalists 'enemy of the people'"WASHINGTON – In the wake of a bomb plot and a mass killing at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, President Donald Trump has again blamed the media for anger that has turned deadly – something his critics say only stokes division. "There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news," Trump tweeted Monday. Again referring to the "Fake News Media" as" the true Enemy of the People," Trump said journalists "must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly. That will do much to put out the flame."" >snipped from article< So - even after he made a grand speech about stopping the hate speech, he does it AGAIN and is (IMO) rallying his fanatical followers into more violence.

DotRen , I don't know if he can be charged with inciting violence, but I do know that he should be. His constant hate rhetoric and stirring the pot is definitely inciting violence IMO. Linda, I was really surprised DD (who is 44) said that as well, but in considering it I think she made a good point. So now I don't know if I want him to run or don't want him to run. The only thing I know for certain is that this JA has got to go, and I don't think we could expect a lot better from Pence so they both need to go.

I found this article very interesting and sobering . . . "Democracy Itself Is On The Ballot" This is my biggest fear: that they will manage to cheat their way into retaining the House and ultimately reelecting DT.

And once again we get words of wisdom from KellyAnne . . . www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/kellyanne-conway-blames-synagogue-shooting-on-anti-religious-late-night-comedians/ar-BBP4aFTHonestly, she sees no relation to the JA's hate speech, her defense of the JA's hate speech, their unfettered support of the NRA, etc., etc., etc. and the violence that is going on in this country. Is she really this dumb or does she see the truth and just doesn't care?
I just came home from voting. I probably lost every vote I cast, but at least I stood up and voted my conscience. I thought there was a pretty heavy turnout for early voting, especially since it's already been going on for a few days. I hope that is good news for Democrats, but it could also be the other way around especially here in deep red TN.

nashville11, from reading Woodward's book (I am not very far in it; DH took it over) KellyAnn Conjob sounds like a very smart woman. I doubt DT could have been elected without her help.

KAC is a calculating "! itch"...She is not dumb nor smart in a good way. It's a vile, evil smartness & she knows exactly what she is doing. When all is said & done, she will be out with her book the day after she walks out of the WH & her job of helping to divide this country is done. Oh, she cares, but for a whole different reason than the way caring Americans care about this country. Her & SHS are JA biggest enablers in the WH. For the life of me, why sell your soul, if you had one to begin with, to the Devil or in this case JA...(probably the same person ;-)

Hi all,
I've been lurking here on and off for a year or two. I so respect you all, your intelligence, humor, the whole thing. I've never followed politics as much as I am now, and still am nowhere near on top of things as you all are. But I had to jump on here and tell you that my son (age 39 and very well-read) also thinks Joe Biden should run and would have a decent chance to win. I think the gist of what he said was that a lot of conservative Republican women voters who aren't happy with Trump but were swayed by their husbands to vote for him, would vote for Biden. Trump lovers liked that he talked like them - well I think Joe Biden has a great down-to-earth way of speaking (without the nastiness and braggidocio Trump has) that might really appeal to the Repubs who would listen to him. Plus he has humor and humility!!
Our DD and DSIL are conservatives and we don't talk about politics with them - it gets uncomfortable immediately. He listens to Rush Limbaugh. UGH. My husband and I were Bernie fans. And both of us are sooo disgusted by everything going on now. We desperately need someone to bring this country together. I think if the economy stays good, we may see the JA win again in 2020. He's totally despicable but he knows how to keep the fear mongering going and fire up his base. I sooo want to believe that those people so swayed by him are NOT the majority of Americans.
I also check out the conservative thread, sure isn't much to read there!

I doubt DT could have been elected without her help. lani, I think that makes it worse, and it is what I suspected. If she was really that dumb, maybe I could forgive her; but, to knowingly and willingly promote this I can neither forgive or ever forget. In years past, while I've always considered myself Democrat I have at times voted Republican if I felt the R was the better choice. Never again will I ever vote for anyone with Republican beside their name. I may vote Independent, I may even write-in my choice rather than vote for the Democrat if I think they are a poor candidate but never will I vote Republican again. If the JA and his minions have accomplished anything in terms of me personally it is to insure that my vote never goes in that direction again. If Congress had stood up to him, I could respect them. But Congress has totally bowed down and kissed the ground he walks on because they are too afraid to stand up to him. So I have no respect for any of them anymore. The JA is always saying something is sad. Well, in my opinion the way I feel about this is truly sad. I've lost respect for my government. I wonder if I will ever be able to find that respect again? I guess I'll get a clue on election night . . .

conniefromct, welcome! So glad you decided to post with us, and I hope you'll come back and join us again. That's really interesting that your son also thinks Biden could win. Maybe our kids are on to something that we've overlooked. They do make some very good points. I've always liked Biden, but until hearing from my DD and now your son I had thought he couldn't win. I may need to rethink that. As for the "divided" family politically, I suspect most of us can relate to you there. I certainly can. Both my step-sons are Republican, and the majority of my extended family as well. So like you, we don't discuss politics at family gatherings. Like you, I tell myself that those people who are so enamored of this JA are in the minority. I hope that middle of the road Republicans, Independents, and Democrats will come out and cast their vote and prove me right. That will go a long way to helping shore up my faith in our country. Sometimes I get pretty discouraged about everything going on, but at heart I still believe that people are basically good despite what I see at the JA's political rallies.

www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/kellyanne-conway-husband-george-pile-on-trump_us_5bd73c44e4b055bc948ee60cMakes one wonder how the dinner table conversation goes or the pillow talk...LOL KAC may lose more than she bargains for when this is all over. I would think its hard for two people like these two to keep the peace when they are so totally on the opposite side of the fence. I know its hard because, in our family, too, one DS & family are Republicans & other DS & family are Democrats like DH & I. I like to think that the DS & family who are Republicans, are just that, not Trumpkins, but I don't know, since we made a rule not to talk politics. Hard when families are so divided. Connie, interesting that your son too likes Biden. Maybe us older folks have just taken Biden for granted too long, & fail too see something that's so obvious. Interesting. I like what Kasich is saying, but I'm afraid he will never get the nod for a Republican nomination....too nice & too much common sense. Shame the GOP screwed up with the Trump endorsement in 2016. Like, Joyce, I have on very rare occasions, voted R. but never ever will again. The SC issue proves why maybe one should not. Especially, in today's political climate.

Evidently the JA thinks the Constitution is just a bunch of suggestions to be ignored at will, that is except for the 2nd Amendment which he must think was carved on those stone tablets Moses brought back down the mountain. Now he is vowing to do away with birthright citizenship? Come on! He knows he can't do that. It is clearly just another attempt to stir his radical base into a frenzy. He has them all terrified of immigrants, and not a single one of them stops to think that they are the descendants of immigrants. But if he keeps them stirred up and angry that will get them out to the polls, so the challenge is that the rest of us have to get out and cast our vote too. I cast mine yesterday. I hope all those people I saw at the early voting place yesterday were not there for the JA, but rather were rational people who want to rescue our country from his grip.
