He's blaming California for our fires. Thank you... You are such a comfort to those who lost their property and the loved ones of those who lost their lives. If we voted Republican I'm sure it would be another story.

I did read where he was blaming California ...Of course, his solution was to cut off funding immediately. I noticed he had such a warm hearted sympathy note for those who lost lives & property...NOT! He is such a waste of human flesh!...:-(

Rick Scott complaining about election fraud in his state that he was Governor of for 8 years is laughable. WHY, didn't he try to fix this problem on his watch. It's not like everyone knows FL is always a problem at election times for one reason or another. Usually because of Republicans trying to disenfranchise voters. I really think its time to think about doing what Oregon & Washington does..All voting is done by mail. Not sure how that is working out, but I haven't heard any problems from those 2 states. Have you? I mean, can we really trust voting machines anymore? We definitely need a paper trail. It's just time to start seriously thinking about the way we vote.

Trumps cancel American cemetery visit From CNN's Kevin Liptak US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will not visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial on Saturday afternoon, as planned, because of poor weather.
A White House statement said the planned visit had been "canceled due to scheduling and logistical difficulties caused by the weather. An American delegation led by Chief of Staff General John Kelly and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joe Dunford will attend on their behalf."
Guess, he didn't want to get his hair wet, maybe???....If Kelly & Dunford can make it there, why not JA & Melania. After he cancelled his trip, he has nothing on his schedule for rest of afternoon. So, basically, we, the taxpayer, paid for this trip for him to eat & insult Macron, instead of him commemorating WW1 and those American's who are buried in France.

There was a picture posted today of Obama with an umbrella saying something about how he (Obama) always had a back up plan for poor weather.
My bff and her daughter live in Paradise, CA. They were evacuated Thursday. They went to Chico, but have since moved on to Roseville (outside Sacramento) and are staying with her stepdaughter and family. I am devastated for them. Even if their home survived the fire the town, and community, are gone.

I am devastated for them. This is such a horror. I can't even look. My heart is broken for all Living Beings affected by this. They must be so frightened. What a terrible way to die. 9 people lost their lives so far. Innocent animals and plant life tortured and killed. I can't. It's too horrible for me to even think about. BTW, do you know who is responsible for about 90% of all wildfires? I'll give you a hint. They call themselves the most intelligent species on Earth. And another thing. We know these wildfires will continue. Why aren't we more prepared to put them out? To nip them in the bud? I'd be willing to spend money on ways to battle these horrors instead of spending money on stupid stuff for worthless politicians and their families.

They still don't know, or aren't saying, how this particular fire started, but there was a PG&E malfunction in the area about 15 minutes before the fire broke out. This particular area is very wooded, and VERY dry. The severe drought in California hasn't helped matters at all.

Hello everyone! I'll have to go back and read to catch up on all the posts I've missed, as well as begin catching up on the news again but I just wanted to drop by and let you know why I have been MIA for most of the week.
On Tuesday night at approximately 11:00 p.m. my dad left this world of sickness behind him, and he is celebrating in Heaven now no longer sick or frail but strong and healthy. My heart has a huge hole in it because I miss him so much, but I would not call him back here for even a moment. My prayers were answered and he left us peacefully in his sleep, and I am beyond grateful for that. Yesterday was the funeral. It was a long, hard day but a beautiful and very personal service. I was amazed at how many people were there, even though it was held in our hometown. It's been six and a half years since they last lived there, and I haven't lived there since I left home to go to college at 18. So many of their friends are already passed or in a nursing home, and yet there were over a hundred people there. It was so good to hear the many kind things they said to me about my dad and what he had meant in their lives. I was truly blessed to be his daughter. My mom doesn't really understand that my dad is gone now. She knows something is different but can't seem to grasp just what. Perhaps that is a blessing for her, as I think the grief would be more than she could bear if she actually knew. His was a life well lived, and I have the comfort of knowing that the very last words he ever said to me were, "I love you." As for me, I'm doing pretty well. I'm grateful his suffering is behind him, and I alternate between smiling at good memories and suddenly unexpectedly crying but I think that is a natural part of the grief process. Tomorrow I will try to get started back into a normal routine.

nashville11, I'm so sorry for your families loss, and glad you had the "I love you" to hold in your heart. My grandmother had dementia and I agree with you that it's a Blessing in disguise when it comes to loss. *hugs*

I am so very sorry for your daughter and her family, for her community, and for you as when our children hurt we hurt. Keeping them in our prayers. Please let us know how things are going with your daughter.

Good morning! I'm not caught up on all the news yet, but like all of you I am just horrified at the fires in California and of course the mass shooting there. Anxious to know how Luanne's daughter and family are doing. Like most of you, I'm angry that we are doing nothing to prevent any of this. Yes, there have been fires in CA for as long as I can remember but NOT like this and so frequent. Yet, we sit idly by and pretend the climate isn't changing. We do nothing to be better prepared to prevent these from happening, just like we do nothing to prevent another mass shooting. And the JA in chief just goes on Twitter and rants that it's everyone's fault but his own.
Don't even get me started about his not going for the memorial service for the veterans buried in France from WWI. That is just absolutely disgusting, and I don't understand how his deluded followers who claim to be such patriots can accept that behavior from him. It is an affront to everyone who ever served in the military, and to their families. Every other leader managed to go. It was raining on them too. He was just pissed off and pouting like the petulant, bratty child that he is. He can't handle a little rain, yet those men gave their lives. Disgusted doesn't even begin to cover how I feel about that. And I am glad that Macron called him out on his nationalism in front of the world. He should be called out. He should be treated like a pariah.

RBG broke three ribs. Wrap her in bubble wrap!. Such a toughie: she fell and then "experienced discomfort" the next day and went to hospital. I saw a meme about this. It said something to the effect that scientists say the first person to live to 150 years old has already been born, let's hope it's Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
