Finally read "Girl, Wash Your Face" - Rachel Hollis. Wow and wow. I didn't believe the hype, but I stand corrected.
Novel-wise: Any of the 5000 plus books on the Kindle that look interesting lol. Your guess is as good as mine what I will read today.

MarieL , I adore Deborah Crombie. Not British, but I highly recommend Julia Spencer-Fleming. A British author I enjoy is Jane Casey. I would class these as police procedurals, but with interesting characters and character development as the series progresses..

lani, I loved Spencer-Flemings books, but there hasn't been one in 5 years. I just read that she is writing a new book in the same series, but it Isn't supposed to be out until the end of 2019.

I read "One Second After" in one day. I don't remember who it's by.
It's about what happens to the US after an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) happens. Great story, but if you are the least bit paranoid or a conspiracy theorist beware. Gave me nightmares for two days and had me seeing threats everywhere for a week.

EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) I've read about this possibility and it is scary to think about it. A few years ago, I heard a financial guy talk about this on the TV and he cautioned that everyone should save 5 years (!!!) of PAPER copies of bank and financial statements in case you have to reconstruct your portfolio and holdings after an EMP. We've become so used to saving everything to the cloud and online but what would happen if that was zapped and erased all records. Yikes! I have resisted when my bank "invites" me to go paperless. Umm, nope, keep sending me the monthly statements!

I read "One Second After" in one day. I don't remember who it's by. I see some on Amazon are saying if you like One Second After check outAlas, Babylonby Pat Frank "Alas, Babylon." Those fateful words heralded the end. When a nuclear holocaust ravages the United States, a thousand years of civilization are stripped away overnight, and tens of millions of people are killed instantly. But for one small town in Florida, miraculously spared, the struggle is just beginning, as men and women of all backgrounds join together to confront the darkness. Biography "Pat Frank" was the lifelong nickname adopted by the American writer, newspaperman, and government consultant, who was born Harry Hart Frank (1908-1964), and who is remembered today almost exclusively for his post-apocalyptic novel Alas, Babylon. My favorite of this genre is The Stand by Stephen King Also Swan Songby Robert McCammon

Great story, but if you are the least bit paranoid or a conspiracy theorist beware. Gave me nightmares for two days and had me seeing threats everywhere for a week. I went to Goodreads to add this to my list and this was in the summary: "Months before publication, One Second After has already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book already being discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second. It is a weapon that the Wall Street Journal warns could shatter America."
also, it has #1 beside the title so I'm not sure if that means it's to be continued or it is the first in a series of similar type of catastrophe-type of books

The John Matherson Series #1 One Second After #2 One Year After #3 The Final Day (forthcoming) ahhh.. I didn't read down lol I just mentioned that to her in my post thanks for listing the others!!
on Goodreads (where I keep my list of books to read) it says #2 is a follow-up, #3, etc. so I would think you need to read them in order.

I read Alas, Babylon while in college (yes, I'm that old!) It was a good book with a scary premise. You'll enjoy it.

If you happen to have Amazon Prime, I see you can read the bestselling poetry book Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur for free.
I just downloaded a copy for myself.
It has over 6000 reviews on Amazon !
"The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Deals with a different pain. Heals a different heartache. Milk and Honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look" pages 208
