I enjoyed 'Smoke' so much that I read 'Hidden' by Catherine McKenzie and also 'Spin' and "Spun" lol I like her writing style. Getting ready to read 'The boat runner'. It's been on my Goodreads list forever but my library hasn't had it until now.

I just finished reading a cozy mystery series by Nic Saint on the Kindle. The main character is a reporter who helps the local detective. The catch is the reporter can talk to cats & her cats help her find clues. I thought the books were a pleasant read before bed. If anyone is interested, all the books have Purrfect in the title like Purrfect Alibi or Purrfect Crime.

lavonm thank you for the suggestion, I love cat mysteries! "The Cat Who..." Series by Lilian Jackson Braun is definitely a good one too. Our entire family read all of her books and my 39 year old son still talks about them. He took them to his home for his sons when they are older.

I just finished a mystery, Kate & Blak vs. The Ghost Town. It was a Kindle book I got for free some time ago, and it was surprisingly engaging although it could have used a good edit for grammar, spelling and typos.

I just finished a mystery, Kate & Blak vs. The Ghost Town. It was a Kindle book I got for free some time ago, and it was surprisingly engaging although it could have used a good edit for grammar, spelling and typos. I'll check that out. I'm currently reading J R Rain's Vampire for Hire series. It's a 17 book series & I finished book 15 last night. The book is about a woman that was happily married with 2 kids & was a federal agent. Then her world got turned upside down when a vampire attacked her. She then became a private investigator & had to deal with being a vampire & a mother. I've been enjoying the series on my Kindle.

I'm on the 3rd book of "A discovery of witches" (the all souls series). It's not bad, the first 2 books were better than this last one.
I did watch the series on AMC and I'm intrigued about how they're going to reconcile the tv shows cliffhanger with the book because they were completely and drastically different. Like, no way can they follow the 2nd book with what the TV show did lol.

It was a Kindle book I got for free some time ago, I usually skip on the monthly free Amazon Prime books, but this month I read and enjoyed Valencia and Valentineby Suzy Krause and enjoyed it quite a bit. SynopsisFor readers of Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, debut author Suzy Krause delivers a quirky, colorful story about love, loss, second chances, and what it means to truly live. Valencia, a timid debt collector with crippling OCD, is afraid of many things, but the two that scare her most are flying and turning thirty-five. To confront those fears, Valencia’s therapist suggests that she fly somewhere—anywhere—before her upcoming birthday. And as Valencia begins a telephone romance with a man from New York, she suddenly has a destination in mind. There’s only one problem—he might not actually exist. Mrs. Valentine is an eccentric old woman desperate for company, be it from neighbors, telemarketers, or even the funeral director (when you’re her age, you go to a lot of funerals). So she’s thrilled when the new cleaning girl provides a listening ear for her life’s story—a tale of storybook love and incredible adventures around the world with her husband before his mysterious and sudden disappearance. The stories of Valencia and Mrs. Valentine may at first appear to have nothing in common…but then again, nothing in life is as straightforward as it seems.

Found an author from my past. Elizabeth Berg - just finished short stories "Ordinary People" and also read by same author "Say When" I really enjoyed both books
Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendall) author "The Final Inversion" a British crime/mystery which I completely enjoyed. Lots of characters and beautiful country side descriptions.
"The Separation: by Tovi Maris - interesting - an Orthodox Jewish woman writes about her separation and divorce. Based one her true story.
Reading a lot this summer and enjoying every minute of it wish the same for all of you Marie

I usually skip on the monthly free Amazon Prime books, but this month I read and enjoyed Valencia and Valentineby Suzy Krause and enjoyed it quite a bit. Once upon a time I thought the free monthly Amazon Prime books were a deal until I realized that they never had any books that interested me. But I was told of a 3rd party web site, BookBub.com, which tailors information about offers to your own tastes. You create a free acount, select the genres you’re interested in, and get daily emails with offers that include both free and reduced-price books. The books being offered are often on sale for just one day. But I’ve built up a huge number of free mysteries that I’m working my way through slowly.

Thanks ! eReaderIQ Daily is another one I get book emails from for books on sale.
