Ruth, sorry you have computer issues- how did we live without these electric brains? Tablets can be a pain, and using the keyboard on the tablet is awkward. And now I forget what else you posted....duh. Thanks for your concern about our adult childrens safety. Once a mom, always a mom. The worry never goes away.

Started looking through my stash of fabric to see if I can find something as a good example of what I want for a border and back for the quilt. Think I have found a few fabrics that work- which I hope Joanns still have.

Ginny, that's so true. We never stop being concerned about our children no matter what age they are.
I do hope that you are able to get the fabric you want. I haven't had a lot of experience trying to get more of a fabric that I've had and need more of but when it comes to yarn, many times just the one you want has been discontinued.
It's a very overcast day here today but still in 40's but it's expected the get colder fast and they say up to 9 inches of snow here in my part of town. As usual I procrastinated too long in calling in renewals of my dh's medications so he may be a couple days without a couple of them. Personally I don't think he really needs either one. They're more of a preventative med than actually necessary although that's important too but not essential. I even put days for reordering on my microsoft calendar so that it would pop up and remind me and I still procrastinated.
I'm going to do a couple things that need to be done today and then sit and crochet. I may not finish the fox since I have a nice stuffed fox I can send to dgd. I'll work on finishing the purse which is almost done anyway and the Bible cover which is started then see what time is left.I still have to look up a piece of fabric for the lining of the purse and maybe I'll end up having to buy a little piece for that because, although I have a large stash of fabric, I may not have the right color. If so it will be awhile because if we do get all that snow we won't go out until we can easily get out of the driveway without having to do any shoveling which neither one of us is up to doing right now.
See you later and have a great day and a great week

Hello Crafters Meg - I'm glad you've been able to visit your DD and help her with her lunch. I hope she continues to improve. I did watch Victoria and enjoyed it. I miss some of the characters from the last season though. Ginny - I hope you can find some fabric for your border, and also that you didn't have much bad weather. It's very windy and cold here, are you getting that too? Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about your computer problems. I love them when they work well, and hate them when they don't I've been putting off buying a new desktop, but I know I need to do it soon. I try to back up my important files on a DVD-R from time to time so I don't lose them if it crashes. I want to get a laptop too, but there are just so many I get confused figuring out what to buy. Sue and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting. It's sunny here, but the windchills are brutal. I don't have to go anywhere, but I see one of my yard trashcans has fallen over so I'll go out and secure it so it doesn't blow around in the yard. I'll also put out some more seed for the birds. I'm still having some issues with my furnace, but it's working right most of the time so I'll just keep an eye on it and call for an emergency appointment if I need it. I do need to bleed the radiators, something that hasn't been done for years, and I'm wondering if that might help. I'll try it this week and see. All of this "house" stuff is just getting to me, it's very stressful doing it all alone. I know I can handle most things, and I do, and I'll have to call for help on what I can't handle. I wish there were magic houses that never needed maintenance Take care everyone!

WEll soon after I posted the message above it started to snow and is still coming down very thickly (if that's a word). There's already a lot on the ground and on the cars, etc
CJ, yes when we are home owners there's so much that we have to be concerned about and it can't be easy doing it alone. My dh, though, does tend to always think the worst is going to happen and many times nothing happens at all. I think he actually thinks that if he things the worst then what does happen won't be so bad. It drives me crazy though sometimes.
Dh and I just put a couple things into the oven.... a kind of makeshift lasagna and a potato casserole he made up. He's very good at creating dishes like that and is good at devising ways to use up leftovers.

Ruth, I was going to tell you snow is on the way, but I got distracted! By the snow! We had a bit over a foot, but 500 feet lower and six miles north, there was 4-6". Our snow was very wet.
The snow is off the driveway. The snow guy had his work cut out for him today.
The southern part of the valley was either in the clouds or a ground fog when I was on my way home from my chiropractor. I couldn't tell where the edges of the road were. Strange day. It's not that cold here... about 29 degrees.
I watched another tutorial last night. Lots of pinwheels and a new cutting and stitching techniques since I last made a pinwheel. I also have watched and read about how Missouri Star Quilts came into existence. I like her presentations simple and informative, without making a big deal about anything.

I'm checking out blogs on a blog hop this week, so I hope you don't mind if I share some when I see something I think it cute/interesting, here are some from today: bumbleberrystitches.com/2015/08/02/3311/#more-3311 - some crochet projects - the Father Christmas is so beautiful. I love her afghans too! www.quiltfabrication.com/ - A neat pattern for using larger pieces of fabrics. I have so many fabrics that would work with this pattern.

Good evening! Spent a good hour this am watching youtubes on a stipple template- it looks like it would work really well for a queen sized bedspread and produce a reliable result. I emailed my quilting expert buddy this am to get her take on it. Not too worried about the fabric, as I figure I ought to be able to find something close enough to one of the fabrics that caught my eye.
Sue, the MSQ history is quite a story and boy have they grown in the few years they have been around. Have you ever been there for the tour? Glad your driveway got cleared....sounds like a lot of wet snow. How was your visit to the chiropractor?
CJ- garbage cans blowing in the wind is noones idea of fun. I wonder if you could hire a handyman to take on some of the projects that you do not want to do- someone who could bleed your radiators, oil the furnace- general stuff like that. If you do not move, that could be a way to stay in your home and still have your sanity. Yes we are very cold and windy here too. So cold that some schools are on a delayed opening. thanks for the heads up on Victoria- I enjoyed watching that last night.
Ruth, what color fabric do you need for the purse and how much do you need? I would be happy to send some to you in the mail......I have small quantities of many colors and Lord knows what I will do with them. Just an idea. Hope that Dh’s creative cooking endeavor came out well!! Did you get much snow? Glad you got his meds on a schedule now, so that they can be ordered when needed. I am sure you know what you are doing with regard to his meds and how it will impact him if he misses a day or two. Hey, you did not mention your back. How are you feeling?
Babysat for a few hours this afternoon. DGS is still not feeling well- so he will not be going to preschool. We will babysit for him at his house, which means we have less time babysitting tomorrow.
Meg, hope Janet is doing well...
Phyl- how is your week going?
Ok enough babbling. Have a wonderful evening Ginny

I have a neighbor that I've mentioned before that foolishly posts when they will be out of town and post under her full name so everyone knows who she is and where she lives. She has all her posts as "public". During the fall they traveled in the area of the Missouri Star company and went on the tour. She spoke as though she quilts. I don't know her well even though they've lived here longer than we have so had no idea.
Ginny, again I appreciate the offer but I'm sure that in my large stash I will find something. Again. please, it's not that I don't appreciate all you offer to do. I appreciate it greatly but I need to use up some of this stuff.
CJ, not only do we not mind you posting those links but we look forward to seeing them.
Sue, I don't know how much we have so far as far as snow goes but it looks like a lot from inside and I'm not going out to check.
I haven't got to any crocheting yet because after working with dh on the two casseroles and resting for awhile I went up and made a sweet potato pie from leftover sweet potatoes from the other day. Then the kitchen was in need of cleaning.
Luckily the back is improving little by little although last night sleeping was interrupted many times by having to change positions due to the aching.Thank you for asking Ginny.
Ginny, sorry the little guy is still not feeling well. I hope he's better soon.

What stinks about a back injury is when you want to change positions while sleeping and have to think about it to brace yourself for the discomfort.
Ruth, just keep in mind if you cannot find a piece of fabric in your stash that works for the purse, there is a chance I have something that would work and it would be cheap to ship a small quantity of fabric. One thing that stinks about all that great cooking.....the kitchen has to be cleaned.
Sue thanks for posting the links.....the Santa is adorable and SO tempting. (But I already have too many projects....he is just so darned cute and the pattern does not look too tough). Loved the black and white quilts too. The woman who created that blog seems to be a very prolific quilter indeed.
Still very cold here, but not quite as bad as yesterday. Gotta change the litter pans, make dinner, vacuum upstairs and hopefully get some time in with leslie sansone before we babysit this am. BBL Ginny

We had a little more snow on top of the foot+ yesterday so the "snow man" is back. This afternoon, hb's caregiver will do the back deck and steps. I cleared a circular path on the deck for the dogs again. The diamonds in the snow are larger than usual because the flakes were so big!
CJ is the one who posted the links. I'm the one who goes and looks! lol
I slept late again this morning. The dogs wanted to go out at six, and I wasn't ready to stay awake! I'm still working on my first cup of coffee. After the second cup, I'm going to move my car into the sun and let the sun take care of the several inches of snow that happened after I got home yesterday.
I think my machines may want some exercise. The washing machine, the dryer, the dishwasher! They refuse to work without me!

Ginny, you do get up early and get a lot done in those early morning hours. Thanks again for the offer of fabric. I think I found the perfect one in my stash. It's going to be doubled so even though it seems a little thin I think it will work fine. I never thought of doubling but the purse is made with a bobble stitch so there are little spaces between the bobbles. The pattern designer suggested that since you would be able to see the lining fabric that if it's not pretty on both sides the best thing is to double it.Then she posted a complicated way of sewing it. I'm going to do it the easy way.
Ginny, Yes I think we've all been through back pain and you're sure right about having to brace yourself to change positions while attempting to sleep. You've experienced that and probable everyone else here has too at one time or another and probably more than one time. I was disappointed last night again because all evening my back was great then again when I tried to sleep it was terrible. I finally got up and took some ibuprofen and it was like a miracle. It always amazes me when those things work.
I did start the purse strap last evening but got distracted again. I really do need to just get busy and get these things done. I keep saying that. Saying and not doing.
Sue Yes those machines just are not independent enough. I have to start my washing machine then later dryer too. and why can't the dryer fold and hang up the clothes? I don't have a dishwasher so don't have to tell one what to do.
I need to go look at those sites CJ posted because I forgot yesterday.

My back would like a clothes folder! Just the wrong angle for my arms, and it invariably sets up a muscle spasm! I have a mountain of things that need folding. hb's caregiver does towels, sheets and things like that, but I'm not comfortable having do my underwear and related things. He does so many things so very well, but he doesn't quite get the aesthetics of folding.
So many things around the house involve that unique angle that winds up in pain. Darn! I have problems with knitting, but with crochet, I'm able to keep my elbow down. Therefore no problem. I am going to sew, but it will probably be in ten minute intervals. I really don't want to go to hand stitching. If it came down to that, I would probably start embroidering instead.
Ginny, you asked if I do the quilting myself. No. I have a neighbor who has a long arm and does a magnificent job free hand. Several of the women in my quilting group do their own quilts. Two hand quilt, and three others have some variation of a long arm, but they use templates.

CJ- forgive me for not giving credit where its due- yes you were the one who posted those sites....hopefully by now you know me and know that I sure can be ditzy sometimes.
Hey, Sue, we would all love a clothes folder! Its no fun having to fold the clothes and them take them to whereever they are kept. Guess the 10 minute intervals of sewing are because you have pain somewhere...hope you can get some machine time in comfortably! Its great that you have people nearby who can long arm- which can really take a project and make it look magnificent. I am in awe of those who hand quilt.
Ruth, I am so glad you found the perfect liner fabric in your stash!! The idea of doubling the fabric is a great idea- like you I would opt for the easy way to get that done. Forgive me for sounding like a nudge, but I think I would take that ibuprophen at bedtime- with the hope that a good nights sleep results. Or at least have the ibuprophen right next to your bed, should it be needed.
Got everything done this am....yes it was kooky but I needed to get it all done for various reasons. Tomorrow and Friday are long babysitting days- so I will have not time for any housework. It had to happen this morning- and thank the Lord for the energy, it did.
Gotta figure out what I am doing for dinner tomorrow night. You know what? I just did! Got some meat sauce in the freezer- Dh thankfully loves spaghetti. Easy meal!
Have a wonderful evening Ginny
