Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward crafting activity. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion. Ginny
Monday again!? Nice that Ruth, CJ and Phyl checked in late last night. CJ- I do not know how much you have stashed in your home, but I do know that when you set your mind to it you accomplish a lot......
Gotta start my morning and my long day. BBL G

So far so good- I am tired but both grandkids are being good. Hoping both will go down for naps at the same time. We had them outside this am in the sun - so they should both be tired.

CJ- why don’t you make it your goal to get the applique done on the Irish Chain? That sounds very achievable- and with your new machine should go easily. Think a break from decluttering is a nice idea- taking a brief break sometimes reenergizes. Phyl- so glad to hear that your hip is behaving!! Have you had to go to the chiroprractor for it much recently? Think If i were you I would skp the curved ruler class. But $25 a class is so reasonable- and learning a new skill is good. Perhaps you will use that someday... Ruth, I smile thinking that you are able to make 3 hats in one day! (Takes me weeks). But hats are great for doctors offices or still shaky weather- which we will have for awhile until summer is here for good. Do you plan on keeping up the same rate of crafting for hats during summer when gardening and weeding beckon? Gonna take a short nap so I can get to study tonight. Both kids are sleeping. G

Good morning all and happy new week.
This daylight saving time really messes up my first few days of it..that is the changing back and forth. I wouldn't mind dst if it stayed all year or if one or the other stayed all year.
Ginny, I hope the little ones did take their naps at the same time so that you got in some time for yourself. With going outdoors maybe they will.
I did work on the new hat last evening and don't know why I didn't just keep at it till it was done. It's easy and it's a really nice hat too. You can make it in any size and in any color combos. It does still have the camel stitches and therefore ridges and it has post stitches too so it is interesteing while still being easy.
Yes It's always good to see everyone here. I wonder how Sue and Meg are since we haven't heard from them in awhile. It's so nice that Betty has joined our wonderful group. And we do have a wonderful group here.

Just got up from a short nap....and yes both kids slept. The baby is up.
Ruth you are absolutely right about the time change! It takes me 2 weeks to get back to normal. Think they have something in congress to eliminate the changing of the time. No problem for me and I think I would welcome that. Perhaps last night you got tired or distrracted. Hope your momentum returns today. It sounds like a pretty pattern to make.
Agree that its great when we all get here, and Sue, Betty and Meg are missed. Life is not always simple.....i just hope that they are ok and nothing is wrong.
DGD’s bus will be here soon, then I get to go home! (Yay! G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and ready for a new week Ginny - I'm glad the grandkids are being good and got to enjoy going outside. Thanks for your suggestion on the shamrocks, I really would like to get them finished this week. Ruth - I'm glad your hats are coming along. I looked up the camel stitch and watched a short video so I could see what it was. It's a really pretty stitch for a hat. Also, I'm blaming you for the YouTube crochet videos I've now been watch for several minutes It's a lot warmer here today, around 60 I think. Looks like we'll have some nice weather for awhile. I thought I had finished going through all the drawers in my father's chests in his bedroom, but I missed a few so I went through them this morning. I found over 20 old check registers and other things that I need to shred. So I have a big bag of items to shred now and will have to work on that a little bit each day so I don't burn up my shredder. I'm at that point where I just want to be done with this. But I have to keep pushing myself to finish this last room. This room has 2 chests in it, so it's more drawers for me to go through. My father used one of them and the other both he and I put things in. It's going to be interesting to see what he stored I did find something really exciting today - a photo of my great-grandmother on my mother's side (it was her father's mother). I don't think I've ever seen a photo of her and with it was a note written to her by my grandfather. There was also a clipping of my grandfather's obituary. He died when I was 8 years old, but I spent a lot of time with him when I was a child, so I do have memories of him. I'm going to see about making copies of the photo and note so I can give them to my brothers and also to a second cousin since it is her grandmother. Take care everyone!

The sky is blue, and the temperature is 27. The adjustment to DST has been easier for me this year because of two sunny days!
Many people here are taking snow off their roofs. A few days ago, the roof on one of the gyms on the MSU campus collapsed. The good news is that it was two in the mornings. and no one was hurt.
This morning I was at the chiropractor at nine. Afterwards I went to Wild Birds Unlimited to get some birdseed. Then I stopped by the duplex. Progress is happening. There is asbestos in the popcorn ceiling. It will be removed next week. Pieces of the subfloor had to be removed near the washing machine and in the bathroom, and some of the joists had to be replaced. Once the popcorn ceiling is removed, things should go very quickly.
I'm feeling a little better and a little stronger day by day but not bouncing back like I would have hoped. I'm trying to catch up with laundry and other house things, but I'm not there yet.
I hope your day is going well.

Sue, I'm glad you're feeling some better. Yes as we age it takes longer and longer for us to recover if we become ill. The weather here today is great. It's sunny and warm...for us that is...and not much wind Ginny, I'll still work on hats in the summer but not like I'm doing now. As you said, that yard work calls out to us way too much. One day you mentioned about me doing simpler hats...well that would be the smart thing to do but I do like to challenge myself and learn new things and then if I can't get them I just can't give up. I'm too stubborn and NEED to overcome the challenge . In the summer I'm going to make hats for the grandchildren. I want to make the two little boys...youngest grandchildren... Viking hats. Long story but basically dh always said (kiddingly) f he had a son he was going to name him Thor. Of course we didn't name him that but I saw some "Thor" hats I want to make the boys and ds will get a kick out of that. And of course there are such nice hats for girls. I want to make the two youngest ones the curlique hat. They're so cute. lots of curliques on the top. And of course I will make one for dggd too.I think the older girls will like ponytail hats. I have so many plans CJ, It sounds as though your entire family collected things and a lot of them. I burned up all my check registers a few years ago. I rarely write a check and when I do I never put it in the register anymore. And yes I know how thrilled you must have been to find that picture!! And to have it have a note on it makes it even more special. I know I was thrilled when one day I was just being nosey online and found my dgf's obit (my father's father) and it had a picture of him with my grandmother who died before I was born. My father and his siblings talked about her a lot and I have her middle name as my middle name and so does one of my ds' daughters. I had never seen a picture of her before. I really need to put that picture on a flash drive and take it to walmart and print out a hard copy. And CJ, yes you can certainly blame me for causing you to watch youtubes of crocheting . The camel stitch does make a very interesting and attractive feature on hats and other crochet items. If you make something in all camel stitch it looks like it was knitted.

Sue and CJ- so nice to see you here today!!!
CJ- keep your focus, it sure does sound as though you are approaching the end of all this paperwork reduction. Is there a local firm that comes in to offer bulk shredding? I know you want to get rid of this paperwork but that would avoid the daily shred, which could take a long time. That is so exciting that you found a valuable picture of your great grandmother! Even better yet, is that you have a way to authenticate it. I am sure your brothers and cousin will be excited to get this picture of an ancestor from years ago. Do you see any resemblance to any of your relatives to her?? I am hoping that this really neat “find”- the picture of your great grandmother, will inspire you to keep going through your paperwork. Its true- you never know what you will find. I know in going through my mom’s papers, I found the wackiest things in with valuable paperss that should be kept. It made for some laughs for sure.
Sue, sorry you are not feeling better as quickly as you had hoped.Perhaps the stress of dealing with your sisters SO has made your immune system sluggish. Do you take vitamins- and is this something you might discuss with your chiropractor? Some chiropractors do an awesome job of treating the whole patient, when simple therapies like Stress management and vitamins can help. Glad to learn that there is good progress on the duplex. Again, one less thing to stress over.... Take your time catching up with household chores like wash....perhaps your body needs a bit of a break.
Just heard from our group leader and we are having study group tonight. One good thing is that with the sun setting later, its not so difficult to leave the house at night for study. G

Sue, Ginny's right...the household tasks will wait. If your body needs a rest you should rest it and I'd also agree with the stress wrecking havoc on your immune system Cj, Yes Ginny is right on that too, your family members will love having copies of that picture. Also about the shredding thing. It could take a long time to shred on a household shredder. It even takes me a long time to burn all my things that need shredding or in my case burning. Sue, you may remember that Ginny talked about her so called blabbing. Well you can see who is the blabber here and it's not her... Ginny, I'm glad you were able to get in a little nap while the grandchildren had their naps. Now you're all ready for Bible study. I never go anywhere at night because of the eyesight issue so DST does help will that. A bill failed here to put us on DST all year round but I, too, heard that there is a bill in Congress to have it a national thing.

I can't believe how fast and easy that daffodil candy holder was. It's bigger than I thought it would be. It's done. It looks complicated but it's not at all. I did make a mistake though and of course it was right at the end of the row so I did the whole last row before I came to where I had forgotten to make the second half of that flower petal so the whole row was taken out and redone after I finished that half of the petal. I would have had it done soomer but stopped a few times for various things...cuppa tea, dinner, etc
Now I have a couple more hours in which I can finish those two hats that I have half done. Tomorrow I think I'll work on my craft cave a little. It still needs a lot of organizing...a LOT!

Good morning all! Ruth, sorry I missed your posts last night....I wanted so badly to get the post in- knowing that I was tired, and forgot to refresh before I started responding. You amaze me, just out of nowhere making that adorable daffodil candy holder. That is confidence- being able to look at a new pattern and seeing your way through it quickly and easily. How many more daffodils are you planning on making?? love the idea of the THor hats and the curlique hats for the girls! You never cease to amaze me with how many different projects you take on.
Study was great last night.... DGS is not feeling well today and staying home....think DH and i will go for a walk in a little bit and then I might get to work on the binding on the table runner. Also have to go through a box of my mom’s papers (income tax returns that look to be 30 years old)- which I will add to the pile I will burn in a few days.
Okie dokie, enough babbling from me. Have a blessed day all g

Good morning all. It's bright and sunny but very windy. Wind is blowing in the cold for tomorrow. For the last several days it's been in 40's but tomorrow high will be only 28
Ginny, these daffodil candy holders are larger than they look. I'd guess they hold about 1/4 cup of jelly beans or similar candy so the cup part is small but the whole thing is 8 inches across so for a table decoration only one would be needed so I'm not sure that I'll make any more of them..well maybe one for dd's table also. I think that they would mostly be good for Easter and I'm in kind of a time constraint right now with taxes due and the chrombook needing to be set up and of course the bday gifts finished. And also have to take the car for maintenance check and oil change and the recall thing and glass treatment so that will be time taken up although I can crochet while there and waiting. I'll have to see how much time I have. Easter I think is the 21st so there is actually time
Yes going through your mom's papers and CJ going thru her parents papers must have been interesting since it sounds as though they had a large assortment of papers...not just receipts,, etc. The only things my kids will find is all the little thank you notes from grandchildren and letters my son sent when he was in the Army etc.And one each of letters from my mom and favorite aunts wwhich I saved just to have something with their handwriting and that they touched. I had started to save all my paperwork for vehicles I bought and other things so that they kids could see how little things cost way back but then I decided they wouldn't have time for all that or no interest so I got rid of them. Now I'm kind of sorry because I didn't think about the fact that they could do what you two did which was taking the papers home to look thru later.
