Good morning and Happy May Day! Linda, I thought of you this morning and May baskets. I remember you told us about making them, and it sounded like such a lovely tradition.
Wow that Mueller letter to Barr is interesting stuff! Barr is bound to be squirming in the hot seat today. Really we already know Barr is a big fat liar, liar pants on fire. What I'd really like to hear is an interview with Mueller. That should be interesting if he actually spoke out.

Well, when you got nothing, Lindsey Graham defaults to Clinton investigation in his opening statement. Jeez! How blind he is choosing to be.
I wonder if kids even recognize May Day anymore. It was such a big deal in "the olden days" LOL....

Lindsey Graham should just make a tape of himself so he could press a button and play it every time he makes a statement about anything. It is always the same old refrain: Clinton, Clinton, Clinton . . .

I hope Barr gets fried, and then there are some consequences. Like he resigns, gets impeached, and the entire report PLUS Mueller's summary, is released.

Maisie Hirono came pretty darn close to "frying " Barr herself!...LOL Boy nothing held back in her comments! Go Maisie! Kamala Harris did a great job of making Barr stutter a lot....Also on Republican side, I think Ben Sasse had some great non partisan questions. He made some great points on Russian interference & what campaigns should know.

I think Graham might have a little crush on Clinton or some other kind of infatuation. Maybe he likes, wink wink, both of them.
While I'm in this mean spirited mood, is it me, or do most Republicans these days actually look deceitful, angry, and evil?
As if all that ugly inside seeps out their pores and sits there on their skin for all the world to see.
They never smile, they have no twinkle in their eyes, they have this distant stare, and a worried look that the truth is suddenly going to appear, catch them off guard, and smack them up side their heads, over and over again.
They always look like they're making sure they know where the exit sign is.
These are no longer Republicans. No Reagans or McCains, Eisenhowers, etc.
It's a new political party. The party of lies, deceit, dishonor, treason, division, etc. It's a stinking shame.

LOL Pat! I hope they're going to need that exit sign soon! You're right that what used to be the Republican party would not recognize what is passing itself off as the Republican party these days. I never agreed with most Republican policies, but there used to be a few I could find at least some agreement about. These Republicans are just not people I can ever see finding a middle ground with no matter how far I am willing to stretch. They've gone far past anything I even recognize anymore.

So Barr is a no show, but that was pretty much to be expected. He's not going to offer anything truthful anyway, but I do think Congress has to follow through and not just let him flagrantly get away with flouting their authority. That would set a really bad precedent. Mueller is the one I really want to hear from, assuming he will actually give some factual information. I heard one commentator this morning who has worked with Mueller in the past say that how much Congress gets out of Mueller will depend upon how they frame their questions. If they ask him specifically for facts, he will give them truthfully this guy said, but if they make their questions general he will not throw the DOJ or Barr under the bus even though Barr seems perfectly fine with doing so to him. I'd also like to hear from some of the people who were on Mueller's team.
To be honest, I really don't understand why Mueller didn't formulate a decision. I understand he thought the guidelines and the fact that they say a sitting President can't be indicted prevented him, but in my limited opinion it seems he could have gone further than he did and been more specific. Most of what I hear people saying is that he trusted Barr to do the right thing, but that seems kind of naive to me since from the get go Barr had shown he was totally in the President's corner. The DOJ strategy now just seems to drag things out as long as possible, people are getting sick of hearing about it, and the longer it is drawn out the less damage it will do to Trump. It could even end up coming back to hurt the Democrats. It's just all so discouraging.

If the man can't comprehend a simple question, he has no business being Attorney General.

Dh came from coffee & cards yesterday, saying that most of guys were talking about Hilary!!...LOL With all that is going on, they just can't get past her. I guess it's easier to focus on her, than admit the man they voted for & support is a vile con man & the GOP is enabling him.
