Good morning all. Another beautiful day on tap. Yesterday it did get far too hot in the afternoon, but it did cool down nicely.
Pam hopefully you will wake up feeling better and will be able to attend the play tonight.
The bday party was a success. Brian was really surprised. His wife Jean did a great job of decorating and setting it all up.
Today will be KOKO. No real plans.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! I woke to the sound of rain outside my open window. It only went down to the mid-60's overnight - and the high will only be in the upper 60's today. That's fine with me as I can wait for the hot weather for a while. I love the breeze coming in the windows as well as the sound of my wind chimes!
We LOVED "Rocketman"!! It was so well done and entertaining. I wouldn't mind seeing it again as there was so much going on (no slow spots at all). We both found ourselves laughing at times and crying at times. My DH couldn't believe how many times it reduced him to tears. When we got home we got out the "Parade" magazine from our local paper last week that featured a long article about the movie and the star and Elton John himself. He did, indeed, co-produce the film. He stresses that it is not a biopic, but does highlight his life, with some whimsical scenes for entertainment. I am so glad my DH reminded me that he wanted to see it, otherwise I may have forgotten about it, and I'm glad I didn't miss it!
Last night I thawed out some pastrami that we had in the freezer along with 4 slices of bakery marble rye bread (from Frankenmuth) and made sandwiches with Swiss cheese and with coleslaw alongside. It used up the remainder of my SP for the day, but was very good!!
Today I am meeting a GF for lunch but not much else going on. Our family is trying to plan a Father's Day get-together but it is surprising to me how many of them "have something else to do". Really?!? I told our niece to go ahead and do her thing and to count us in as we would participate and help out in any way she needs. She has 3 brothers who seem to be MIA (more often than not). Geez .....
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue that film is most definitely one that I want to go and see. Thanks for the heads up.
We headed on out to BJ's Club to stock up on paper supplies etc. and I just finished putting it all away. Now I'll take a short breather before we head on out with miss LuLa.
That sandwich has me drooling, Sue. I'm also a fan.
Take care all and chat tomorrow.

Hi all, once again (I posted on the wrong day forgetting that we switched to a Sunday start date. LOL )
i am am back from the baby shower and what a glorious day they had for the celebration. Baby Olivia is all set well into the future. The food was scrumptious and included breakfast and luncheon items so a true brunch. I had some quiche, a wonderful quinoa goat cheese salad and then chicken picatta with risotto which was to die for. Notice how animated I get with the topic of good food?! All in all, it was truly lovely and they are a sweet and very happy couple. Also, I made plans with my best buddy to go to see Rocket Man tonight. Sue, I’ll be thinking of you!
Sue, yes the visit went really well so I’m thankful for time with the baby up here. They will be back in July for a few days. Her mom was in close contact via cell phone while she was here, but I expected that. The puppy sounds so sweet!
Ann, it is getting hot for walking! Drat , I knew that might happen. I’ll have to go early before work.
Pam, hope you are feeling better and up to going to the play tonight. Hope you have rested.

Rocket man was the most cleverly done musical I’ve seen in ages. Wonderful movie but had me in tears at times. You don’t always see what goes on behind the stardom and stage in a superstar’s life. I loved the story of Bernie Taupin and Elton and how they collaborated. I think Elton had a big part in the movie and its accuracy. Go see it! What did you think, Sue? (Note: I wrote this last night on the wrong page!) Glad we both give it two thumbs up, Sue!! I have always been a huge fan back to 1971 and Tumbleweed Connection LP. Love, love the poetry and musical genius of Bernie and Elton.

Judy so happy that the visit went well. Also thanks for the 2 thumbs up on Rocket man. Now I want to see it as I love his music.
Yes it's hot! I took LuLa across the street only. Once the sun goes down, we'll walk her. She doesn't do well in the heat. Takes after her mom LOL.

I am not 100%, but doing much better. DH said I snored so loudly last night that he got up and went to sleep in one of the extra bedrooms. My sore throat and croaky voice when I woke up supported his story. I will continue my current regimen until I’m fully recovered, since it seems to be working. The good news is my lack of appetite has the scale moving downward.
We were able to go to the performance of Late Nite Catechism last evening and enjoyed it very much. It is an audience participation act and those participating really got into it. I didn’t attend a Catholic school, but found it very funny anyway.
The garden is in full swing with sweet corn, tomatoes, black beans and bell pepper coming in that need to be chopped, shelled, cooked, stuffed or frozen. I de-silked a sinkful of sweet corn, which DH cut off the cob and put in the freezer. He is shelling black beans as we speak and will can those later. I stuffed 6 peppers yesterday and we had some for dinner (along with sweet corn and fresh sliced tomatoes) and froze the rest. I will chop some of the smaller ones and freeze to use in cooking. I love the fresh veggies, but the work--not so much!
Today is laundry day and I am trying to get things straightened up and floors cleaned as our RCIA class will be here tomorrow evening. The computer at church is on the fritz and we access the videos for the class online. DH has a small computer which plugs into the tv and allows us to stream and use the TV as the monitor. We tried to do without the videos last week, but find they chat too much and don’t stay on task. We are struggling to get this class through everything in time to be received into the church in late July before our parish priest goes on sabbatical for 4 months.
I am enjoying my Garmin VivoFit 4. I haven’t felt well enough for a long walk since it came in, but I am enjoying the get-up-and-move feature as well as the sleep monitoring. I have also linked it to MFP so that will be good once I get back to good exercising.
Sue - It is so good that you and DH get to spend so much time with the puppies. It is good for your spirits, but also helps prepare the pups for their forever homes. Socialization is so important. I am glad to hear DH is feeling better. Hopefully, this will give him the motivation he needs to continue with the program until he is fully healed. Did you go to the Cinema 16 at Waterford? We took DGD to her first movie there last fall and it was very nice.
Ann - The birthday surprise party sounded fun. It’s nice to gather with others at a happy occasion ---something other than a wake or funeral, which seems like all I go to anymore.
Judy - I’m glad the visit went well. Hopefully, DDIL will relax even more over time and not get so wound up. Rocket Man sounds awesome! I hope we can get into BTR (the nearest movie theaters) before it’s gone.
Well, time to get back to work! I lost a long post this AM, so am copying and pasting this from my word processor.

Pam so sorry you are still not up to par. Yes, do keep doing what you are doing. There is always a 'plus side' and you found it in having the scale move downward Pam I have a Garmin vivofit but mine is the first one they came out with...Vivofit 1. I do like it. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but I do like the sleep mode feature. It no longer syncs with the WW'er site, so I manually enter my steps each day. No big deal for me to do it that way. At least I know it's accurate I emailed my surgeon this morning as for the past two days I'm having discomfort in my breast. He wants to see me on the 20th of this month. I'm hoping whatever it is will be an 'easy fix' so that I can have the 'finishing touches' done. Enough is enough. I'm still struggling with the partial. It's fine if I don't CHEW on that side!!!!! I'll keep on trying to 'adjust' but if it keeps one feeling this way, I'll have no choice but go for a refund. Thanks for listening to my rambles.

Pam, your garden sounds so lovely. Nothing like fresh veggies from your own garden. Your season is nice and long, too. I hope you start to feel better, but as Ann says, there is a plus side with the scale. Speaking of the scale, I did not make it to my WW meeting at 7:30 this am. I could not get moving that early today. I woke up at 7 and did not want to start my day rushing around like a chicken with my head cut off! I had my coffee, made my healthy lunch and will check out other meetings this week to see if I can stop by then. I know the time of day will be off which may result in a jump up in lbs but that's okay. I'll get the meeting message and stay accountable.
Ann, so sorry about more pain the breast area and also your partial not settling down and getting more comfortable. I have heard they can be tricky. Maybe they can adjust it further so you can stay the course.
It is rainy today and muggy. I have the A/C on at home and in our office. We have the old window units at work. Very inefficient to have to have separate A/C for everyone in a big building but these buildings are so old that I am sure it would prohibitively expensive to rewire it all.
I watched the last episode of Season 1 of Big Little Lies on Amazon last night and will start the new season. I read the book a few years back and enjoy the series with Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and others. The book is set in Australia and the show in Monterey Bay, CA. My DD said that the behavior of the parents is really pretty true to life. LOL
I'll check in later on. TTFN

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Tuesday!! I have already been up and at 'em with texts requesting me to sub for Summer Child Care. Unfortunately it was for two days that I have already committed. We have a new coordinator this year and it would seem she did not secure enough subs (I've already had to turn down 4-5 days) and it hasn't even started yet :-)
Judy ~ I also wrote a lengthy post on Sunday's thread. I also have not yet adjusted to the Sunday start day and fear it will take me a while. Hopefully I will learn to check in both places before typing. Oh well...
Yesterday I went to meet a GF for lunch and while on the way she called me laughing - the restaurant we had picked is closed on Mondays! So we quickly chose a different one close by. It is one I have been to for dinner and is not a favorite - but I did enjoy the lunch menu as well as the quietness at mid-day yesterday. I would do it again (at least for lunch). They have an appetizer/small plate section on the menu and I chose the chicken quesadilla and it was quite perfect in taste and size.
Today is a free day for me. I am still struggling with feeling tired - coupled with not sleeping well last night. We do have sunshine (finally) and it should warm up nicely this afternoon. We had our Italian leftovers with a salad last night for supper and will have another set of leftovers from the fridge tonight. My Red Hat group had an outing planned for Saturday, but it is in downtown Detroit and I am somewhat leery of going that far away right now until DH is seen by the cardiologist (next Wednesday) so I may beg off. I almost never miss an event, so I won't feel like I'm letting anyone down.
I think I will do a bit of laundry today as well as catch up on my reading. DH has been coming home earlier lately for which I am glad. He has been "playing" in his flower garden and battling with the chipmunks. I feel for him as I have already fought that battle.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi Sue,
Sorry about the tiredness. You've had so much on your mind, and that is more tiring than anything, I think. Mental exhaustion trumps the physical kind often. I know you'll feel better after your DH has seen the cardiologist. I, too, often lie awake worrying about my DH and his heart issues. He has had to increase diuretics a few times and weighs himself daily to see if he is retaining fluids due to the heart issue. I feel so badly for him as he often gets shortness of breath and is generally more tired than he was even a year ago. I know he worries himself but never shows it. He'll see the doctor again today. He is still working and plugging away and sounds chipper when at work! I think he really values work even though he was retired for five years. It is rewarding to him and nice to feel so needed and respected. But, we are both getting mentally prepared for really retiring at some point - I am thinking May 2020. Not sure if I told you all yet, but we are planning a trip to Alaska in July 2020 with friends. It's a cruise/land excursion with several nights on a ship and several in a hotel. It's a 13 day trip. We've both wanted to see Alaska for a long time. Have any of you been there? Something to look forward to next year!
I saw in the paper that one of my former bosses - one of my very favorites from years ago in the 1970s has died. That made me sad today as he was just 73 which I consider young today. :-( His memorial service is in July on Cape Cod. I will try to go even though it has been decades since I saw him. He and his wife were at our wedding and I have thought of him often over the years. Great guy.
On an upbeat note- we are taking my friend to a retirement luncheon at VIAs tomorrow, Ann. And I had a birthday luncheon at the Boynton yesterday! Yikes. Fun events. I did choose pretty well at the Boynton with a spinach salad/chicken/blue cheese/nuts and cranberries with balsamic vinaigrette. We'll see how I do at VIAs - Italian!!

Judy ~ We went to Alaska on a cruise of the Inside Passage years ago. It was absolutely beautiful! We went in September (the last cruise of the season) and though it was mild in the southernmost stops, we needed warm jackets at the northern end. It was something we never thought we'd see and I am so glad I made huge scrapbooks of all our cruises and adventures, as we relive them whenever we want.
After the week-long cruise, we spent the better part of a week in downtown Vancouver, BC and went sight-seeing. We had a Grey Line agent right in the lobby of our hotel, so we picked our excursions and prepaid them, and all we had to do was get up and show up; they picked us up at our hotel and returned us there at day's end. We had planned the trip in conjunction with the Retrouvaille International Council Meeting that year which was Friday-Sunday. We have friends who did the cruise/land excursion and loved it!
My "do nothing" day has turned into another "a little of this and a little of that" for me. DH stopped home to take a pill he had forgotten and we made plans to eat supper on the front porch and take a walk this evening. That made me smile. He actually wanted to talk to me about what kind of flowers I wanted for outdoors. It's been so cold here I haven't gotten the itch to plant or even decorate. But it does seem to be warming up, so maybe it is time. I loved the porch pot I had last year and he had a picture of it on his phone, so we can look for the same thing!
BBL. Make a great afternoon!
