So yesterday was sons birthday but he wasn't feeling great, so we went to Texas Roadhouse today instead. I had the salad (no croutons or egg) with blue cheese dressing, prime rib and broccoli. It will probably be a 1 meal day today lol, even though I only ate about half the prime rib.
Planning on making salmon, asparagus and cauliflower rice for meal prep this week (M-T-W) then eggroll in a bowl for Thurs and Friday with ground turkey.

Product review: Keto Chow variety starter bundleFirst: I've tried the mocha and snickerdoodle flavors. Flavors are good, no weird aftertaste, not artificial sweetener taste. The suggest mixing with a fat (mct, cream, whatever) and then either water or almond milk. I used 2T heavy cream and 16oz unsweetened almond milk. You need a blender because it's very clumpy (in spite of them saying you can just use the blender/shaker bottle, you really need a blender). For the price, it's nice to have on hand maybe for days when you're just not feeling like eating. At 128 calories for the mix, then your liquids, they are pretty calorie friendly (100 cals for 2T cream + 70 for the almond milk) since they're intended to be a meal replacement - 300 calories is pretty nice.

Well I talked my son into going low-carb. He has been really eating badly lately. If it's not something I make him, it's buffalo wild wings, ramen, long john silvers, wendys, etc- all battered, fried, carby crap. And Mtn Dew and other hugh sugar sodas (energy drinks, too) - I don't think he drinks plain water ever. I'm concerned about his health and his weight (he's packed on about 15 pounds this year already). I had a frank discussion with him about my health concerns for him (he probably has high blood pressure and possibly pre-diabetic but he won't go to the doctor)so I suggested we try to get him on low-carb 85-90% of the time and see if he feels better. Wish me luck!

One really amazing thing about keto is the natural appetite suppression. I don't add a lot of fat either. I made a stir fry of sirloin and broccoli for lunch and then had a carbmaster yogurt at 3pm and I'm still not hungry at all. Tomorrow I'll add some extra fats (tuna with mayo or something) to get my calories up.

Since I'm talking to myself lol I started a thread in the foods find section doing some reviews of products I've tried, mostly low-carb and keto friendly, though some are also WW friendly HERE

I think I'm going to try to make these keto pretzel bites this weekend. If they turn out good, it's something son can take as a snack to work.

Even though it's hot (not quite 5th ring of hell hot - yet) here, this really looks good! Beer Cheese Soup

Hi Rene and all (any?) who follow. Rene - it's funny you posted that recipe because this week I'm going to try these: www.myketokitchen.com/keto-recipes/make-low-carb-ketogenic-soft-pretzels/Pretzels are the only thing from my pre-Atkins life that I crave. I had to get something called xantham gum for this recipe but I'm hoping they satisfy my pretzel craving. Am looking forward to trying yours, too. How did yours turn out this weekend? Atkins is going really well. I don't think I could (or would want to) do strict keto (I just can't consider fruit an unhealthy or unclean food) but low carb is something I can do forever without thinking about it too much and it's working for me. I haven't been on a scale since forever but the clothes never lie! Chris

I buy the box of xanthan packets from walmart because it hardens up when exposed to humidity -the packets are really great because you don't end up with an unusable brick lol.

This is an interesting article about the way humans should be eating: You Only Need One DietThe "caveman" diet has been discussed as the "perfect" diet for many years now, but this article has some good points about how humans changed once we had access to a constant supply of grains.

I made the soft pretzels last night and they were okay. It's basically fathead dough with salt. 😆. But not bad.

I made the soft pretzels last night and they were okay. It's basically fathead dough with salt. 😆. But not bad. I do miss the textures of things like sourdough pretzels now and then. I saw a recipe for a calzone using fathead dough, but there is no way the photo is fathead dough, it was flaky. I hate when they use stock photos to mislead you.
