Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Determined Body: Complacent Spirit: Calm Gratitude: Weekend chats with children and granddaughters
I have water in the big pot to boil after filtering cooled water for drinking, know what lunch will be and am looking forward to the rest of the day. The sun is shining and weather nice after the storm. Life is good.
MICHELLE: Stay safe on your forays way from home. I know you are cautious and take precautions. I hope Buttercup is going to the veterinarian for something easy! I am impressed with all you are accomplishing!

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with my dreams. Mind: Active Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Tranquil Gratitude: Easy trip to the vet
I took BC to the emergency vet since they do not take the dogs while the owner sits in the car. She was panicked when we first got there then she gained confidence as we went along. It takes waiting time at the emergency so she had time to process everything which helped enormously. She got some meds and should be better in a week or so. She isn't actually sick, just has a minor problem.
Cathy: Do you always boil your water? We have a well and are able to drink the tap water. One time the dogs water was in the garage and the tadpoles hatched. I told a city person that this is the kind of water they are drinking when they visit my house. The look of horror I got was so funny. Also once we flooded the basement and frogs hatched also a very small snake so maybe we really shouldn't be drinking the tap water after all.

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Determined Body: Willing-complacent-strong enough
Spirit: Open Gratitude: Bouquet of flowers with sweet scented narcissus on the dining room table - it is where I am working this morning and it smells divine. Hubby brought it in to photograph to send to our son and DIL for their anniversary.
Yesterday we talked to our son and his daughters. They were all fine and busy and all was well in their lives. My son is champing at the bit to be back on the road but not till vaccinations are in place and covid-19 is under control...or better. And now the solar water heater broke a pipe and emptied the water and refilled and emptied again. Argh. So, solar dude will have to come replace the pipe or cap it and that means people in the house and more expense. Seems it is one thing after another these days.
MICHELLE: I am glad that Buttercup had time to relax before seeing the doctor and that the fix is simple. As for water...we do boil for drinking all the time though we rinse our mouths with tap water when brushing teeth and take showers in it. The water is a mix or water piped in from a spring near the beach or artesian water and also rain water goes into to big reservoirs...the reservoir water has all manner of who knows what and are 300 cubic meters with moss and probably other things that can survive and thrive in them...that water is used for watering BUT in a pinch it could be used for the house. The water in the pipe is supposed to be "clean" but my phobic husband the worrier feels better if we boil so...I boil and filter to make him happy. I don't think it is necessary, though as most in the village drink it and the Syrians don't boil or buy drinking water.

Affirmation: I take time each day to notice if I am feeling and not just being on automatic pilot. Mind: Empowered Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Excited Gratitude: Another lovely winter day Great day for me! The garage door that broke yesterday got repaired. My annual junk removal by the junk company was completed. They hauled off my pile of yard items. And another junk company hauled off the two large propane cylinders left over from my conversion to electric a number of years ago. Every year I work on getting items hauled off so that if we ever sell this property I will not be drowning in work that needs to be done--that could have been done as the years went by. Cathy: I also do things to make my husband happy. He would find out what they are if I wasn't around anymore. Sorry about your solar pipe problem. It does seem that these type of things come in groups or possibly just pairs. My morning writing continues and I definitely think it is helping!

Affirmation: I have the freedom & power to create the life I desire. Mind: Open Body: Willing Spirit: Content Gratitude: Having enough
The solar tube was replaced, the plumber is coming around noon to assess what needs to be done and that now includes getting the pump to work so water can be pumped to the roof to fill water tanks up there. Hopefully after he finishes those issues will be handled. Next up is my husband preparing for olive harvest and pressing of olives for oil. I also see myself dealing with olives to be cut, soaked and then brined for the coming year's eating. In the meantime...I will enjoy my morning coffee.
MICHELLE: I wouldn't mind having the stove on electric but with electricity iffy in Lebanon it is not all bad having propane. We need to have a big clear out of the land and yard and around the house again...and we need to do some painting of iron bars and outdoor furniture. Maybe this year we will get around to some of those things. I am glad you manage to get things hauled off every year! Is your electricity from the grid or solar powered?

Affirmation: I take time each day to notice if I am feeling and not just being on automatic pilot. Mind: Focused Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Contained Gratitude: Another lovely winter day--seriously lovely! I spent the day puttering around getting miscellaneous things done. Also got the mending of two items taken care of while I was outside sitting on the deck enjoying the lovely weather. Cathy, Our electricity is from the grid. We have a bank of solar panels that is quite long, longer than the house. We use that and sell a little each year back to the power company. It's kind of complicated because our heater, which is electric is not part of the solar so we have to pay for power to run it. This year I bought some great electric heaters that run off the solar power to see if I could cut the cost of the power. BTW, I really like your affirmation!

Affirmation: I trust myself to make the right decision(s). Mind: Tenacious Body: Willing Spirit: Open Gratitude: Sunshine after rain - looking forward to a hot shower today.
Plumbers come and go and then don't come back. Not sure when the guy will return to do what needs to be done BUT hopefully at some point in time. I think olive harvest will begin this weekend. There is a machine to shake the trees and a man who runs it so that makes for interesting times, I guess. I will leave it to my husband and only cure the olives for eating.
MICHELLE: I love the visual of you on the porch mending clothes with dogs at your feet and a beautiful day to enjoy! I wonder how many solar panels would be needed to be totally off the grid and if one could even do that since internet and other things might require being hooked up to something.

Affirmation: I take time each day to notice if I am feeling and not just being on automatic pilot. Mind: Focused Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Happy Gratitude: My home I managed to finish washing the windows and part of the front deck. Then I spent about an hour putting out my Christmas decorations. I just love the simplicity of it all. It's fun to do this and so easy to put away. Cathy: I don't think I would ever live totally off the grid since I do like my conveniences such as flushing toilet. Your plumber sounds like my window company. Just when I think I am getting close to having part of a slider replaced more weeks go by without any repairman showing up. I am just glad that the slider window is not actually broken. Que sera, sera.

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Agile Body: Accommodating Spirit: Calm Gratitude: Sunshine with windows open and a cup of coffee this morning
There was hot water for a shower last night and that was grand...there will be hot water for another shower today - hooray for solar water heater being fixed. The olive harvest begins today and my husband will talk to the press to get a time for the olives to be pressed, check to see if he can get the battery fixed on the old Mercedes he keeps to haul things around in, and he might pick up some produce. I have soup thawing for an evening or lunch meal and all is fine in my corner of the world...or at least on our hilltop.
MICHELLE: The plumber did show up yesterday to fix the bathroom in the basement BUT they did not leave the tap to the toilet open as they don't want it to break again...or some such thing. Whatever. My husband was fussing about "waiting" and why people don't tell us they are not coming or when they are coming...I thought about how many days and weeks I would stay home while he was at work and I would wait and wait and could not leave the house at all because...the workers that promised to come didn't call to say if/when they would arrive. Hope you get the sliding door fixed soon. We need screens in various windows and hope to get them...maybe...before next summer.

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race. Mind: Reinvented Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Contemplative Gratitude: New concepts and ideas
Just a relaxing day for me finishing up the Christmas preparations. I got my cards addressed and given to DH so he can mail them. Possibly DH will receive some at work that I will need to respond to but that is about all I have to do. He sent out the letter to his tax clients this week letting them know that he will no longer be doing their work. We will still have auditing work but things will be much easier without having to deal with the several hundred tax clients.
Cathy: I am still doing my morning pages except the dogs won't allow me to have the door shut to my bedroom so it is like having three bratty kids to deal with every morning. Only they are overjoyed when I let them in. Buttercup breaks my one major rule which is that they are not allowed on the bed. She know she is being bad and just loves it! All of this morning ruckus interferes with the writing. But it is just so much fun. They really bring such light into my life.

Affirmation: Persistence, not perfection Mind: Focused Body: Able Spirit: Open Gratitude: Mind in the right place this morning
The scale is up after two BIG calorie evenings this week. I know I can take the weight off again and need to focus on that and getting into the next decade and then to goal weight. It will happen. Hubby is supervising the olive harvest and I am not planning to go down this time to see what is happening. I might change my mind...maybe. I think I will make slices of eggplant and grill them for lunch. Maybe have them in a wrap with some garlic, lemon and spinach or something like that.
MICHELLE: I am sure it will be easierr without taxes to do for many. I hate doing my own but do get them done. I love the idea of you on the bed with THREE dogs around you! I can see why it would not be easy to focus, though

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race. Mind: Cheerful Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Reverant Gratitude: A nice warm home Busy day for me. I got three more double cupboards organized and the shelf liner put done. This is such a slow process but there is progress. Five more to go. Hooray! Cathy: You made me laugh about not being able to focus. While I was reading your post Clair was halfway on my lap wanting to get petted. Sam was pushed up against here wanting the same thing and Buttercup was acting deranged about me throwing the ball because she couldn't figure out how to get through the other dogs to drop it on my lap.

Affirmation: Believe -> See
Mind: Determined Body: Capable Spirit: Bright Gratitude: Rooster crowing in the distance, olives at the press becoming oil, a husband that is willing to do the olive harvest, hot coffee in the morning, warm clothes and a roof over my head, the ability to see and be positive...
Yesterday was busy for my husband but not as busy as he thought it would be as there were fewer olives to harvest than he thought there would be. I made mjudra (fried onions, bulgur and lentils) for lunch with some cauliflower on the side. We have leftovers for lunch or I could make something different...time will tell. With the harvest done I think next up will be to get a working battery (eventually) in the old Mercedes although since we are not going out and about that may wait.
MICHELLE: I smiled thinking of you trying to type with three not so tiny dogs wanting to be lap dogs/play while you typed. I admire your tenacity with projects. I am trying to keep from requesting books for NEXT year as I am so behind for THIS year. I also want to free up time to do more than read...I think?

Affirmation: Willingness is the key that will unlock any door. Mind: Focused Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Reverant Gratitude: Another day on this planet
Finally I am almost done with the K shelf liner project. One more cupboard to go. It snowed a little last night so the day was chilly. I did go out with the dogs and spend some time hunting down their toys. I found four life size ducks. These ducks are the Labradors must have toys. They cannot leave the house without them in their mouths and they are must haves for getting out of bed on and on. So, of course, they drop them all over. These toys are a very important part of their lives and as a result they have about 12 of them. A hunt is organized when the supply begins to diminish.
Cathy: Thanks for the supportive comments about the projects. Many of these things could or should have been done years ago. I am trying to catch up.

Affirmation: positive choices -> positive results Mind: Tenacious Body: 20 minute walk today no matter what Spirit: Bright Gratitude: Abundance of friends and family that support me in all that I do.
Today we may have tabouleh and eggplant if my husband collects the parsley and mint before it rains. If not...there is leftover mjudra and we have eggplant that I could cook on the grill or in a pan or the oven or some way. We will not starve. I talked to my daughter yesterday and she is doing well with grading and is eager for the semester to end. We talked again later...about midnight...as she was settling in for the beginning of her evening. She also had left me an email this morning asking about ingredients for 7 spice and a recipe. Fun that we can stay in touch online.
MICHELLE: I loved the thought of you duck hunting with Labradors there to carry the ducks home How fun to have a flock of plastic ducks...makes me think of decoys carved from wood and wonder what your Labradors would think of THOSE. I have need of creating a to-do list and then starting to work my way through the list...but...not to day
