nashville11, sometimes you have to take a stand even if you know it won't make a difference. Good for you.

I was all settled in with my mug of coffee ready to watch State of the Union, but after just a couple of minutes I had to get up and leave the room. How can Republicans continue this farce of "everything is being conducted in secret, so we don't really know what's going on"? Anyone that is even halfway paying attention has to know that is a flat out lie. Yet, they persist. I guess they can't think of anything else to say, and they're not willing to stand up and speak the truth so they just repeat the same old worn out lie over and over. And how do Republican voters allow them to get away with it? It's insulting to their intelligence. Maybe they think what the JA did is ok. But, I would at least want the Rs in Washington to not speak in ridiculous lies. Just say, "yes, evidently he did it and I don't care." Tell the truth. Don't treat me like an idiot, but maybe Republican voters like being treated like idiots.
Interesting that the JA suddenly decided to get a medical exam yesterday earlier than he normally would. As much as I despise him I don't want anything terrible to happen to him, other than I want him to have to answer for his crimes and for justice to be served (which will never happen, I realize). DH says maybe he is laying the groundwork to resign and try to save face by saying it's for medical reasons. That would likely keep Ds from going after him because it would be bad optics. Wouldn't help with the Southern District of New York, however. I doubt that's a likely scenario, but it's an interesting one.

Oh I'm sure he's blaming his "stress related medical issues" on the Democrats lol.

He IS the "stress related medical issue" in the lives of so many!
I couldn't care less about his health. Couldn't care less if he lives or dies.
I care more about babies ripped from their parents arms and thrown in a cage. I care more about the people of other countries who always depended on US to be there for them wondering if they can still trust US. I care about the air and water that all Beings on Earth need to survive being polluted/poisoned, etc.
Lani, Trump republicans did not abandon integrity or rationality. They never had either one to begin with.

birdgal, I agree about integrity. I think Trump supporting Republicans thought they were being rational by reasoning that they could control and direct him, but it has blown up in their faces. Now they are following behind a rampaging elephant, madly trying to sweep up its droppings.

I got this response back from my email to Lamar Alexander. Thought some of you might be interested. Of course, it's totally canned and as already known he has NO intention of voting to impeach the JA. ------------
"Dear Joyce, Thanks for getting in touch with me and letting me know what’s on your mind regarding impeachment. Under our constitutional system of government, impeachment proceedings start in the House of Representatives, where a majority of members must vote impeach the president, vice president, or other federal officials. The House would then send the articles of impeachment to the Senate to hold a trial. The Senate acts as a jury for the trial, but at the end a 2/3 majority, or 67 senators, is required to convict and remove the official from office. Our founders put these high bars and procedural steps in place to make the impeachment of federal officials – including the president – difficult in order to ensure our country doesn’t swing back and forth over every minor disagreement. In nearly 250 years, the House has impeached 19 federal officials; of those only 8 – all federal judges – have been convicted by the Senate. Only two presidents have ever been impeached by the House of Representatives, Andrew Johnson of Tennessee and Bill Clinton of Arkansas, and neither were convicted in the Senate. It's inappropriate for the president to be talking with foreign governments about investigating his political opponents, but impeachment would be a mistake. An election, which is just around the corner, is the right way to decide who should be president. Impeachment has never removed a president. It will only divide the country further. I cosponsored a resolution that outlines a proper and formal framework for the impeachment process, one that would provide the president with fundamental constitutional protections. As House Democrats move forward, they also might want to stop and take a look at how the House Democratic majority bent over backwards to include Republicans and the President’s representatives in the 1974 Nixon impeachment, and compare that with the one-sided, largely secret inquiry they are conducting today. If the House impeaches the President the Senate would be the jury. There would be many twists and turns between now and a Senate trial. As a potential juror, I will wait until all the evidence is presented and all the arguments are made, and I will keep your comments in mind. I am grateful every day for the honor and privilege of serving the people of Tennessee. It’s helpful for me to know what’s important to you, and your comments and concerns guide me in determining what issues to tackle next. Sincerely, Lamar LA/nt"

Your comments determine which issues to tackle next? Tackle? Lol.
I guess if you squinted really hard the word "ignore" could possibly look like the word "tackle." Lol.
The Liar In Chief is having medical issues? Lol. When I was a child I was sick, didn't feel good, had medical issues and needed to stay home from school that day if I didn't study for a test or didn't do my homework. Cough, cough.
When all else fails play the "I don't feel good" card.
Hello? Most of the people in the world haven't felt good since that thug slithered into the Oval Office. My apologies to Beings that slither.

Blind. Completely blind if he thinks that's the only "inappropriate" thing Trump has done. Someone needs to buy the entire GOP a bunch of white canes. (sorry I don't mean that to offend anyone who is actually blind instead of selectively blind as the GOP is).

DotRen , you're right about the selectively blind. With the GOP who for years has shouted about how much more patriotic they are than anyone else, it is clearly party over country all the way. And they are scared out of their minds about the possibility of a "mean tweet." We all know that he is not going to be convicted once impeached. Simply following their duty and impeaching may very well come back to bite the Democrats. But I would much rather know that we stood for what was right even if it was not ultimately in the party's best interest than to be a part of the Republicans where anything is o.k. as long as they can avoid a tweet and keep their comfy seats. I totally believe he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and get away with it. Not only do I believe that, but I think the Republicans would stand in line to hold his coat for him while he was doing it.

It's just so rich - had it been a Dem prez, they would be screaming, it's illegal and impeachable!

I see there is one poll that CNN showed that JA is actually up by 4 points in popularity amongst Republican voters. Like in the high 80's. I honestly don't understand these people. What are they so afraid of?
JA also, now has reneged on his promise to ban E Cigs. I guess the the lobbyists got to him. Wonder how Melania is going to react since this is one of her "interests" as First Lady. Maybe she will just wear that "Who Cares" jacket again. UGH!!
