Good morning Ginny and all you other lovely crafters. I didn't get the pen holder finished yesterday. It got boring so I put it on hold till today. After a 57 degree day yesterday we woke to snow so we'll spend the day in the winter apartment and I'll finish up that holder and maybe weave in ends on all the projects. I'll also do some cleaning and organizing here in the "apartment" Dust is threatening to take over I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day and new week.

Hi Ginny, thanks for getting us on the board for another week. I haven't done lot of posting in the last few days. I have been knitting a lot and have decided not to crochet the chevron afghan and my eye sight is not good and I miss some if th chains. So I have switched to the pattern last week which is a knitting pattern and I have started that. colors are cremesicle, white and pastel green. The pattern is similar to a feather fan stitch. I am enjoying knitting it and did quite a lot of knitting over the weekend. The pattern I am using is for a large afghan but I am using finer yarn and a smaller needle.
Ruth, I checked on line for the cherry L of L and notice they have quite a few new colors. I will wait and see whether they get the new colors in the stores. I really don't need any new yarn at the moment. I need to get rid of some.
Have a great day everyone.

Meg, I would think that if you have poor eyesight that knitting would be much easier. It's so hard to see those little chain stitches.
I looked on craftsy and I don't see any knitting and crocheting thread. I sent an email but haven't heard back. So, anyway, that saved me from ordering more yarn I think that Lion realized that people really like Pound of Love so decided to make more colors. Most people aren't using pastels for babies anymore. Sometimes people are so easily convinced of things. In this case someone started calling other colors "modern colors for baby" and a whole lot of people fell for that. I also see that a lot of people don't keep their babies wrapped in blankets when holding them. My dgs and his sweetie have a six month old and posted pics on facebook and also when I saw them in person I just wanted to grab the baby and put a blanket around him. SAme when I'm in stores and see babies with bare feet. I want to go grab a pack of those huggie socks and put them on the babies.I get cold easily myself so I do feel for those little ones. At least my dggs always had something on his head.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I finished fusing the last diamond today and then stitched all the rows together in each diamond. That part was easy since it was just straight line stitching. I'm hoping tomorrow I can trim the 8 diamonds up and add the side triangles and make it into a quilt top. After I'm done with that I'll have decide if I want to add a border. I don't think I'll ever do another one of these, it was just too involved and so much work with pieces of fabric. But I'm glad that I did this project and I'll have a pretty Lone Star quilt out of it. I was waiting to get to this point to run the vacuum in my sewing room, so I did that today. There were hundreds of pieces of white thread on the floor from this project. I know I used at least one whole spool of thread and I think I went through 3 or 4 bobbins of thread too. Take care everyone

CJ, I know you're glad to ;have that done. And now you know the amount of work it takes so you can decide in the futureif you want to make another and you'll know how. It sure does sound like a lot of work. In the meantime you'll have a nice quilt. I love the colors you mentioned the other day that are your favorites. They sound very nice and "springy". The vacuuming, yes, I need to do some too...a lot actually. The whole house could use vacuuming. I did all the dusting in here and cleaned tops of everything and all the shelves but I didn't vacuum.Dh usually does it but his back has been hurting even more than usual so I told him not to do it. I do need to vacuum the stairs soon. We have a walk out ranch house to the downstairs has a patio door that goes out to the back yard and that's where the wood is so I brought some in and up the stairs and some bark got on the stairs I picked up what I could but it does need vacuuming.I keep seeing those robot vacuums advertised on tv..sure wouldn't work in my house. There are just too many "nooks and crannies"...and alcoves. Plus I like to go over each part several times to make sure I get everything.

Such a busy day for me......so I will be super brief
CJ- I hear ya- sometimes quilting takes SOOOOO much thread. Congrats on finishing that project or at least getting close to the end.
Meg- great to hear from you and I am happy that you found a project that you can work on comfortably. While I am sure this frustrates you- you seem to be handling your situation with style and grace. Yes, that describes our Meg- style and grace!
Ruth, I love our wood burning stove....hate the mess though! Hope Dh's back is feeling stronger.
Phyl- hope you had a good day.
See you all tomorrow Ginny

Hi Ruth, Ginny, cj,, just checking in before I go to bed. I have been knitting and watching TV.
Ruth, you mentioned about mothers not wrapping their babies up when it is cold. I have raved about this for years. Sometimes they do have a blanket but their bare feet are hanging out. When I take devin to school I see kids arriving at school with short sleeved t shirts on bitterly cold mornings. I mentioned to a teacher one time when my DGDs were going to school about kids wearing summer clothes on a cold morning. The teacher said probably those kids had to get themselves out to school. A lot of them do look like that. I think almost any color goes for b/blankets now though I mostly stick to baby colors. I could do with a robot vac. I don't vacuum anymore because it hurts my back. I let DS do that so it is not done as often as it should be done. Don't strain your back carrying wood up the stairs. Take care.
cj, good for you sticking with that difficult project. Now you have a beautiful quilt and aren't you proud of yourself.
Ginny, I probably will still be able to do some crocheting but not the chevron stitch as it is difficult for me to see the chains. I was looking at a tutorial for the V stitch and I think I could do that. I will experiment. But it is easier for me to knit at the moment.. Besides the macular degeneration I have a cataract in my left eye and that will have to be taken care of in the near future. But I am not ready to give up doing the things I enjoy just yet.
Now I must get to bed. Good night God Bless see you in the morning.

Meg, some of those kids dress purposely like that because it's "the thing to do". Even here some of the kids won't wear coats and when the parents are home and send them to school with a coat the kids leave them at school because they don't want to be teased about wearing a coat. At least my dgd, etc do cover the baby when they take him out and he's in his little car seat. It's just at home and in other people's homes that they didn't hold a blanket over his while holding him. or while he was lying on something. Now that he's six months old he of course sits up and doesn't need a blanket anymore for around the house while awake.
I don't know if you remember a woman that was on your knitting, crocheting, etc thread who used the name Katrina. Well she and I still email back and forth all the time. She did a lot of knitting but, like you, she has macular degeneration and it's to the point where she can't see well enough to do it anymore. She hasn't knitted now for maybe 4 years or so and is still heartbroken that she can no longer knit.
Well last night I completely finished the pen holder with it's loops and tails to attach it to the book and got all the ends woven in. Now I'll weave in the ends on the other things I made for ddil and put together the pieces for the hanging angel and they'll all be done. I have a bunch of those "vintage" potholders made... the ones made on a plastic ring that have the chevron thingy in the middle so I'm going to make her some dishcoths to match.one of them. I have a nice angel dishcloth pattern then I'll be done with her things... I might make another of the candle holders to see if I can get it more like the first one I made...smaller to fit the candle tighter. Then it will be on to make dd's things for bday then the list my dgc sent. BAck in "the day" they made these potholders with thin thread but I make them with the peaches and cream so that it makes a larger and heavier potholder that can actually be used. One of those and a couple dishcloths makes a good gift.
I have 16 more hats for donating but need to weave those ends in too.
I hope you are all having a great day. It's sunny here today but still cold but warm enough that the snow on the cars is melting.

Its a gray day here and chilly but I haven't been anywhere and I probably will stay home the rest of the day. I had a phone appt. with the pharmacist to go over all my medications. They do this periodically which is a good odea keeps me on track.
Ruth, Sorry I don't remember Katrina but I do remember you and Phyl and also Elaine. People came and went over the years. Did Yvonne post on our knitting thread ? That's great you kept up with Katrina. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I couldn't knit or crochet or read. Do you know which type of macular degeneration Katrina has? I am able to get the injections which helps but a lot of people have the type of M D that cannot be treated.
I was able to knit a few rows last evening and I am enjoying working this pattern. I will do some more knitting this afternoon & evening. I do miss listening to my audio books. I would probably have to send my Nook away to get the Jack fixed though it would be worth it. But I should ask at Barnes & Noble before I send it away.
Have a great day. I will try and check back later.

Meg, her real name is Marie. She told me what kind she has but I can't remember. I know she did get injections into her eye but hasn't had one in awhile so maybe they don't work.for her. She's 90 now and is doing ok otherwise. She's also hard of hearing but she is able to read on her kindle and does a lot of reading
Yes Yvonne was on the thread. She's the one that asked that we start the knitting thread again just before the old boards closed down but then she never showed up. I've seen her post on proboards but rarely.I can't remember to many people that wwere on the thread. There was, Cherie who passed away while on the thread, Marlene, Elayne, Phyl, Yvonne, Joy in Texas, and Carlene who also lives in Texas.. I forget what her name was on the board. I think maybe someone named Mickee and maybe another that called herself Truckee...not sure about that one if she was on that thread or another.
I haven't accomplished much yet today so better get to it.

Phyl, there's a lot of people that come to mind when I think of the old WW boards that I wonder what happened to them.I never see Elayne on this proboard. I think she stopped in when it ww board moved here but not recently. I saw Yvonne a couple times but none of the rest.WEll except Marlene. I see her all the time and I think she posts on Becki's sewing thread.
What do you do with all those dishcloths, Phyl? That's a lot of dishcloths to make.
Ginny, yes between putting in the wood and cleaning out ashes the wood stove does make a mess.It does keep the house nice and warm though...when it's not too windy that is.

Good evening!
Well, today was another day that just blew up at me. Will explain later....
Meg we love to hear from you- and it's good that you have been able to get here a lot in the past day. If I were you I would call B&N about that Nook and how much it would be to repair. You enjoy your audio books so much- it must be hard on you not to be able to get your "reading" time in.! Lovely thing too that your pharmacist "met" with you on the phone- my mom's did the same with her. And I am so glad that you can still knit and plan on keeping going with that! Can your cataract be removed when it's ready? (Not sure how macular impacts cataracts).
Ruth, did you get much done today? Above you were lamenting that you had not been able to do much. Please, I did not forget you and the Irish Chain quilt instructions. Things got a bit crazier than normal with my MIL's passing- I do want to get those instructions to you. It sure sounds as though you have been busy- having 16 hats for donation and those kitchen items.
Yes indeed kids do not dress well enough for the weather. One young woman (14) insists on wearing no coat, no matter how cold it is. And I must tell her, it looks absurd when she is wearing a short sleeve shirt with no coat in 15 degree and windy weather. Some of the boys (High school) wear shorts year round. They are nuts too.
I taught a class for school bus drivers this am- then came home and had to take our feline senior citizen to the vet. He was not eating- they checked him out and found nothing wrong. (They took blood- we will see how that comes out). He is by far the nicest of our 3 cats.
I have not had time to craft today- but next up is for me to go to YouTube and watch the video again for the bracelet I want to make.
Phyl and CJ- hope you each had a peaceful day. Ginny
