They needed 84 packs of toilet paper?? Totally unnecessary for that many at once.

Wow chook! No, have never heard of any bans for previous travel and wow at that video. At first I thought they were fighting over chips and I was like dang they must be really good. But TP?

Makes me glad Spring is coming---we'll have a fresh supply of nice soft green leaves for when the TP runs out!

We have a second case connected to Connecticut. A New York resident who is a doctor did rounds at one of our hospital and now has the virus. They said he didn't have symptoms when he was at the hospital. Heard from the head of volunteers at the hospital where I volunteer and she reminded us that if we feel uncomfortable to not come in, just call to tell them you're not coming in. There was also an attachment about the notification and cleaning they did after one of the nurses tested positive for the virus (she lives in New York).

Same has happened here, a doctor has just tested positive after falling ill and treated at least 70 patients in the recent past, who now also need testing and to be quarantined.

First coronavirus case in my closest largish town: Santa Cruz. First case in Hawaii - Oahu.
Both connected to previous cruise on Grand Princess.

I'm very confused by the ship quarantine times. If they were on the ship, they were likely exposed. It would suck but they need to keep everyone on the ships until everyone has either gotten sick or the last person who showed symptoms was the LAST person for at least 2 weeks. Given the number of people on the ship, it seems like they need an actual quarantine for at least 2 months to make sure everyone is clear.

The first case in Minnesota is a man that had been on a cruise, don't know which ship.

We wonder if crew members from the Diamond Princess we’re transferred to the Grand Princess since 19 of the 21 Ill were crew. When we were receiving notices one mentioned that all crew on the Diamond would get two months full pay even if they transferred to another ship.

I hat to quarantine people ona ship for so long but dotren I tend to agree with you. If people are testing positive on the ship, keep everyone on the ship. But then taking it from the perspective of a passenger not tested positive I would be scared to stay on. Hard to say what the right answer is but all of this passage in the US seems to be via cruise passenger.

Hard to say what the right answer is but all of this passage in the US seems to be via cruise passenger. On the West Coast and in Hawaii it seems to be. The East Coast is a totally different story. 79 confirmed cases in NY as of this writing---one had been in a hot spot in Iran, the others, not quite sure how they contracted it but they've been sharing it. I think we will start to see a lot of cases popping up that we can't absolutely positively link to a concrete exposure point. The latest one in NY is an Uber driver, no clue as to where he picked it up. Sigh...this is a small world and we are all in this together. Hopefully we make it out of this one in good shape.

lani, That is terrible. They should have been quarantined and tested. Guess they thought the 14 days on the ship was enough. Meanwhile Connecticut has it's first Connecticut resident that tested positive for the virus. They think he got it in California. He was there on business. He lives in the town just north of us and is in a hospital even farther north of us not the local one I volunteer at. Just heard that Oregon has declared a state of emergency. Have one niece that lives there. Emailed my niece in Seattle she is stocking up and waiting to hear when they might close the schools. She isn't visiting her parents (father is 83 and cancer survivor, mother is 78) because she thinks she has a big possible exposure with three kids in school. She calls them daily.
