Where are all the "millions of tests" available? Houston/Harris county has 1 kit that can test 350 people, that's it.

I read that about 1,000 California passengers from the Grand Princess are being quarantined at Travis Air Force Base and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, both in California.

Something I have done for years, press an elevator button with a knuckle. Those buttons can't be clean... I use my elbow lol. Been for ages.

Housemouse I do the same! I also have always flushed public toilets by using my shoe to flush (by stepping on the handle). Maybe not worthwhile since I wash my hands after anyway, but makes me feel better to not touch the handle. My girls also got in the habit (from me) of opening public restroom doors with a paper towel when leaving and if no paper towels are available using our shirt hem.
Now more than ever I’m trying to be conscious of not touching things if not necessary when out and about.
We were in Starbucks today and there was a sign that said no more reusable cups will be refilled for the time being.

PA is also under a state of emergency. Some of the school districts near Philly closed for a week to sanitize.
I realize this is serious, but I also have to wonder how much are we blowing it out of proportion?
I'm just taking my usual precautions. I am immuno-suppressed, but I'm not going overboard.

I'm trying to keep a stiff upper lip. My gut instinct is telling me it will be alright. Like when mumps spread through my school as a child, or the Spanish flu, and every kid was home sick. Then it all passed and we all went back to school. Here is a global map from Johns Hopkins: www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6I'm taking comfort in the much larger number of recovered patients than those who died.

My local hospital has asked volunteers not to come until further notice. Will miss going in, I enjoyed my volunteer work.

I'm a knuckle elevator button pusher also. I got sick with a chronic illness in '96 and have been careful every since. I have not gotten a cold or flu since I can remember.
I also used to flush the public john with my foot (when it was foot-reachable) until there was a big debate on the GDT arguing it was unfair to the next user. I do touch everything in a public bathroom with tissue or paper towel. The big challenge is getting out the door without touching it with bare skin. Sometimes there's not a handy place to discard the tissue/paper towel right by the door. I have to just drop it on the floor. Sorry, cleaners.
I have eczema so constant hand washing is problematic for me. So I try to go with a barrier method as much as possible.

The third case has been confirmed in Indiana. This time a child and they closed the school they attended. All three case have been in the Indianapolis area, which is just south of me. I know it's only matter of time since I work on a college campus and spring break is next week.
I'm OK to work from home! My dogs would be happy!! LOL

I met up with my Gastroenterologist yesterday to go over a report on a recent procedure. We met at a local coffee shop. Business was brisk there. He is flying to Spain Thursday to participate in an archeological dig. He didn't seem worried, but he is a super chill person in any case.
I am having lunch with my 83 year old friend Wednesday. She is super healthy and active and is going about in public. I will bring sanitizing products. I'm wondering about the flatware, glasses, etc. Maybe I will wipe 'em down. I'm not fussed with looking like a "panic merchant" as my friend would say. She's a Scot.

As long as the public restroom users wash their hands after using the toilet I would think foot flushing doesn’t matter. But I could be wrong!
