Good morning WW friends. Didn't sleep long at all, but it's okay. I woke up feeling well. I think it was that longish nap after supper that did me in. No worries, as there isn't anything pressing on my agenda for today. Judy so happy that all is well. I had forgotten all about what you were doing this weekend. Sounds like you had a super time Happy you enjoyed the book I shall pop in later. Wishing all a wonderful and OP Monday.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! Our presentation went well yesterday. We left home at 11:30 and stopped for lunch on the way; then drove, then presented, then helped host, then drove - and got home at 8:30. Looong day!! Needless to say, we were in bed by 9:30.
I woke at 6 a.m. and started my day. I think I am on track; and definitely feeling better than last week.
BBL. Make a great day!!

So much for my laid back day. Carl was out paying Spectrum our internet provider and ran into a plumber in line. We've been thinking of having our hot water heater looked at or replaced. They guy offered to come and take a look at it. In trying to drain it, it he noticed that it was all rusty at the bottom. Thank God Carl followed his gut feeling. They guy pulled it out and is in the process of installing a new one. When he's done we will have to deal with the 'mess'. Sheesh......but at least it didn't blow and flood our home. For that I'm most grateful and will continue to count my blessings Sending Carl out 'on his own' can run into added expenses LOL.......

Hi all,
Ann, sounds like Carl's extra work and money may pay off in the end. LOL I know what you mean. I hate having to pay for all these boring necessity items! Glad you avoided a big mess or flooding, though.
Sue, I'm so happy you are feeling better. That's such a relief to you, I am sure. You have really been through it with the shingles. Glad your presentation went so well, too.
I skipped my weekly gathering and glad I did. Our DS always calls on Sunday nights so it's a good time to stay home so we can chat. They will be up this weekend and I'll have some baby time! Hooray.
I don't know how it is in your area, but things here are heating up with the Corona virus talk and actions. Like Pam, I stocked up on some necessities and dog food, canned food, etc. We have tons of T.P., paper goods and water which we always have because my DH buys them constantly. lol But, I was thinking it was exaggerated, but now not so much. I am getting a little more jittery based on what the experts are telling us. Never dreamed this might happen. I am not even sure I will go to CA at the end of March much as I want to go. San Francisco area is canceling big events and conventions and there is a "state of emergency" called. I don't want to fly out and get stuck, but time will tell. Yesterday, I was very calm about all this stuff but I heard that most of the big stores in our area ran out of canned goods, Clorox wipe type things, etc. yesterday. Ugh. What do you all see in your areas? Pam was ahead of the curve, I remember. I don't want to be a hysterical Hannah but good to be prepared for a couple weeks, I guess.
Tonight will be quiet. I am still tired from the UTI. Not really 100 percent yet, darn it all!

Judy honestly I don't know what to think anymore. I haven't seen anything 'out of the ordinary' in our sleepy little town...but that doesn't surprise me. I picked up a few more Clorox wipes as I use them all the time anyway as well as more hand sanitizer. As far as canned goods are concerned I could open my own neighborhood grocery shop as Carl is forever buying stuff. Remember...he IS king of the pat racks! I am just soooooooooo tired. I 'thought' today was going to be a nice easy day...not so....hopefully this guy will be out of here soon and I can salvage some of my Monday! If I don't make it back into the Cafe today...I'll aim for tomorrow. Know I'll be thinking of y'all

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
We have a beautiful 50 degrees and sunshine!! We took the kiddos out at recess even though the playground is a mass of puddles. We have a paved walking track around the perimeter and we suggested they stay on the concrete - which they did. It was good to get outdoors. It was also good to not have to wear my down-filled coat!
Ann ~ Glad you got your water heater issue taken care of. When ours "went", I noticed a small puddle on our basement floor (going down the drain). I asked DH what it was and he told me. We started looking online for one with the exact same configurations as the one we had - in order to make installation easier. We had done an auction of a warehouse a couple days earlier and DH had noticed a water heater (that looked just like ours) in an upstairs office laying up against the wall. It had not sold in the auction, so he asked the owner how much he wanted for it, and when he found out we wanted it for our home, he said "just throw it on your truck and take it home with you". Talk about "God is good, all the time". We definitely thanked Him in our prayer time that evening. It was free, and DH has the skills to install it.
Judy ~ The feelings about the corona virus are mixed around here. Some people are near-hysterical over it and some are blowing it off as hype. I am somewhere in the middle. I do believe we have a potential health crisis, but I also fear there are those who will take advantage of people's fears. I tend to keep a couple of weeks (or more) of paper goods and canned goods in the house. We had that scary time a few years back (August 2003) when the grid went down, and since then I have kept canned meat and fish in my pantry as well as fruits and vegetables. Of course, that has never happened again. As far as corona hype - I saw a "report" on TV showing people buying up paper products and water by the palate full on the same day that I had shopped at Meijer where the shelves were fully stocked, so I am skeptical of some reports now. I think it is better to be safe than sorry, and will proceed that way, only buying things that I would need anyway. I think you are wise to rethink your decision whether to fly or not, and where! It is probably good to be prudent at this time. Glad you're feeling better and hope it is soon 100%.
I am happy to report that I left work much less tired today then the past few weeks! It feels so good not to have that heavy-headed feeling dragging me down. I don't know if I'm 100% yet, but I know I'm getting better and I'll take it!!
I thawed out some chicken breasts this morning so I need to go think of something to do with them for supper. I am leaning toward chicken fettucini Alfredo YUM!!
BBL.

So while I was looking at the chicken breasts, I decided to pull out my Instant Pot and cook them under pressure so they'd be tasty and tender. That only took a very few minutes, so I washed the pot and then cooked four eggs. This was my first time to try them. I have NEVER been successful in cooking eggs that will peel beautifully - and I mean NEVER! I love HB eggs, so for the past four or so years I have been buying them in a pouch at the grocery store. They're OK. But I cooked four today in my Instant Pot, and they peeled like a dream! AND the flavor is unbelievable! Fresh and without all the preservatives that I know the others have. One of the websites I have been learning from recommends doing them early on, but I was afraid, now I'm sorry I waited. The store bought ones come in a bag of 10 so we seldom use them all before we have to throw them out - and yet I like to have them on hand. This will make my life so much easier! Now I can cook a few at a time and enjoy them fresh.
Time to put dinner together.

Sue I am not fond of eggs. Carl absolutely LOVES them done in the instant pot so you are not alone.

Ann ~ How fun to learn that Carl does eggs in the Instant Pot also! So easy ..... My DH got a good laugh because he has watched me struggle all these years trying to cook a decent HB egg yet they always come apart when I peel them. I've tried all the "tricks" that work for other folks, but they never worked for me. Pizza happens! Hope you enjoyed it!! I made Pasta Roni Fettucini Alfredo and chopped up the seasoned chicken breasts in it then alongside put fresh roasted broccoli and cauliflower. Very good and very filling!!

Lol Sue. If I had a thin dime for every gizmo Carl has for cooking eggs, I'd be a rich woman. At least I got him to donate all those gadgets.
Your supper sounded awesome.
Sweet dreams all.

Hello friends! I had to go all the way back to Thursday to find my last post. I will try to catch you up on life at our house. Friday I went to early Mass and then prayer time. I came home, baked Jude's promised chocolate chip cookies and did some housework, then left at noon to pick up Abby for a sleepover and DSIS' VBF, Dee, for her hair appointment. I forgot the cookies, but managed to get them delivered when I brought Dee back home after her hair appointment. Abby and I played on the swing, watered outdoor plants and took a walk and picked a bouquet of wildflowers. We played Crazy Eights and Sorry and then I went to Way of the Cross while she stayed home with Pop and watched tv. They had supper ready when I got home and then we watched Moana, ate popcorn and played more games. Sleeping with Abby is always a challenge. No matter that I start her off on her side of the bed. She always creeps over to my side and is quite the little heater. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well and we woke early. We played more games and then took her home at lunchtime. DH wanted to make one more trip to Walmart for supplies and then promised to lay off of "prepper mode", lol. Saturday night, we picked up Dee and headed to our local club, which recently re-opened, for a live performance by Floyd Brown, a very successful performer who used to have his own club in BTR and was much beloved. He is almost 80, but still has a marvelous voice. The band played zydeco, swamp pop, R&B and rock and roll. Here's a link to one of my favorite Floyd Brown songs: www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0JYkc0KUmI&list=PL-_cKgzzePU3m3E0K1s8dC6X5AbJRy5JN. DH really liked the band and danced with my 5 times! Usually, I get one slow dance on NYE and that's it for the year. I told him he stacked up LOTS of brownie points. He was so pleased that his hip didn't hurt. My younger brother and his wife came and joined us, as well as many locals that we knew, so we had a good time. Dee had not been out on a fun Saturday night in years and had a blast, even though her Chiari Malformation has progressed to where she uses a walker. With the new hair color & cut and makeup, which she seldom bothers with these days, she looked great! She managed a couple of slow dances with old friends and loved the band, which she faithfully followed in her younger days. We stayed until almost 1:00am and then came home and talked until almost 2:00am. I set my alarm for 7:20am to give me time to get ready for Mass, but must have dreamed my alarm went off. I got up and started getting ready. I glanced at the clock and it was only 6:09! Since I was already dressed, I got a cup of coffee and read until time for church. DH woke up, said, "Remind me why we did all that." I told him, "So we could pretend we're young, but we're NOT!" He then went back to sleep. When I got back from church, I fixed breakfast. DH went out to work in the yard and Dee and I chatted and then I took her home about 11:00. I fought sleep driving home, so decided to take a nap. I slept for nearly 2 hours and then did absolutely nothing the rest of the day and evening. We both headed to bed early and felt much better this morning. We did have such a good time, though! Today, I did a hospice visit and then headed to sing for a funeral. Remember my luncheon to honor 2 elderly co-workers in November? One of them has died, so I am SO glad we did the work and had the luncheon! She had a grand send-off with lots of folks in attendance. I missed visitation due to the hospice visit, but did get to see the friend who co-hosted the luncheon with me. When I got home, I got laundry going, since it IS Monday, right? I also worked on a schedule for the credit union CEO interviews and managed to get the candidates notified that there is a delay. I sent a proposed schedule to the committee members for approval and as soon as I hear back, we will be set for the 10th. It was challenging as our internet service has been and on-and-off thing for days. They sent a repairman Sunday afternoon, but he determined the problem is on the main lines, which they have spent today changing out, causing intermittent outages. There are signs here that people are stocking up on things, but DD3, who lives near Sue, went to buy her regular groceries this weekend and found Costco was completely out of all brands of toilet paper. Shelves for clorox and tylenol were also empty. She was able to find toilet paper at Walmart today, but sent pictures of the 2 cans of Spam and 5 cans of tuna left on the shelf. We are stocked up and will only need to buy bread, milk, yogurt and eggs for the foreseeable future, thanks to my "prepper" DH. I think the biggest issues will be in the health care arena---hospitals and nursing homes with multiple cases and employees who are either sick or caring for sick family members and/or failing to report to work. If schools or day cares have to close due to sick employees, this will also cause employees to miss work. We may be in for a tough month or so, as it seems to spread very rapidly. One friend who had a trip to Italy planned as a 25th anniversary celebration was notified by the tour company and the airline that her trip is cancelled. I think we will see lots more of this in coming weeks. I'm hoping we still get to take our trip to North Carolina at the end of April. We will see. It was good to catch up with all your news. Ann - it sounds like you dodged a bullet with the water heater. Sue - I can't tell you how happy I am that you are finally feeling like yourself again! I hope this is the last shingles episode you ever have. Please look into the Shingrix shots. Judy - How wonderful that your DD was able to sell the house so easily! I hope you do get to go to CA. Those darn grandkids grow so fast. Well, I'm going to read a little before bed. Sweet dreams to all!
