Good morning!
I enjoyed a Holy Week Mass with my morning coffee and then caught up on the news. I do better reading it on the various newspaper, network or tv channel websites. That way I can pick and choose which I want to know about. I am steering clear of the very sad stuff and can usually tell from the headline that it's one I should skip. (Ex: Newborn death from coronavirus.)
My yoga instructor reported this morning via text that her mother has died (not virus-related). It is so sad that families are not getting to spend those last minutes together. There is virus in the nursing home where her mother was and her husband is high risk, so she had to make a choice. So hard!
DH requested homemade peasant bread which he loves, so I have a batch rising. We will pair that with eggplant lasagna and a salad for dinner. Lunch will likely be a ham sandwich on Dave's, baby carrots and a banana. Breakfast was fruit, yogurt and flax/chia seeds.
It is warm today, but cloudy and drizzly. I may squeeze in a driveway walk so I can come in quickly if it starts to rain. We have a nice, long, paved driveway and with a book to listen to, it's not too bad a walk. I am listening to The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. BTW, I signed up for book reviews, etc. from Simon and Schuster. They have been offering me a free book download every week, from 4-6 choices. I had to add their app, Glose, to my iPad, but it was free in the Apple Store. I now have 4 free books waiting to be read.
I have seen hummingbirds around, so am thinking of digging out my hummingbird feeder. My mom loved hummingbirds and would have tons of them swarming around her 3 feeders.
I am happy the stay at home orders seem to be having a positive effect. Unfortunately, I think at some point, businesses will have to be allowed to reopen to prevent a total collapse of the economy, but those of us at high risk will have to continue social distancing for quite some time.
Have a great day!

Pam good to see you. Happy you enjoyed holy week mass and also got free books Both win wins in my book. Like you I also prefer to read news online and only do a few articles to keep myself in the loop! After yesterday, I'm very happy to park it at home today. I rummaged through the freezer and found cooked sausage and hamburg so decided to make meat sauce I sauteed the onion garlic mushrooms and green and red peppers in the instant pot, added the meat with tomatoes spices and a splash of wine and put it on crock pot mode. When it's done, I'll separate it, keep some out for a meal for us for another time and freeze the rest. These days get very long if I don't keep busy We did take a hood walk. It's beautiful out there today. I want to go again, but the street sweeper is doing the roads in our retirement community and you can't imagine the amount of dust flying around. I can't walk in that. I imagine he'll be at it pretty near all day, so once he is gone, I'll venture out again. Be sure to look at the moon tonight. It was beautiful last night as well. Take care and be safe!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Hump Day!! We had terrific storms overnight, but the sun is starting to come out now and they are predicting temps right around 70 dg! We'll take it!!
I slept like a rock last night, which was very welcome. I woke early so just got up to have coffee and quiet time. I received news yesterday that two different friends have symptoms and are being tested for the virus. So sad!! Neither one is high risk, so it reminds us that this virus is very sneaky and highly contagious!
Yesterday DH and I went out for a hood walk in the afternoon and it felt good to stretch my legs! It had cleared and warmed up a bit, so it was a welcome respite from being in the house.
Last night we had a salad with mixed greens, broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes and DH mixed together Lite Poppyseed and Ken's Northern Italian dressings and it was delicious. I seasoned and grilled the salmon and split it between our two salads, and we definitely enjoyed!!
I have had my (FF plain) Greek yogurt with blackberries and a bit of Fiber One (Original) for breakfast and am now starting to think about supper, as I will have to thaw something out.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Ann ~ I fully intended to look at the moon last night, but the storms started before I went to bed and I didn't want to go out in the rain. Rats!! You gave me a bit of nostalgia, though, because DH's VBF has always texted me to "Look at the moon" when it was spectacular. I will miss that about him (also!).

Happy hump day everyone!
These really seem to run into one another so I had to remind myself that it was Wednesday. I never did get online yesterday because I was so busy with work duties watching zoom videos of our college president telling us about what could be in store as far as jobs and the overall health of the University. So far we are good – well as good as she can be under the circumstances – and will be home and fully paid through May. After that it depends on the scenario of the virus and what it looks like as far as students even coming to school in the fall etc. Parents from far away might be worried and not want to send their children across the country or the world to come to our college in the fall so they’re talking about delayed opening and all kinds of possibilities. Who knows? Maybe my retirement will happen sooner than I planned. We’ll see.
I also spent a good part of the day helping DD from afar as she worked with Chase bank for the small business paycheck protection program grant and loan. It is part of the CARES act and involved quite a bit of paperwork, forms and things that she needed help with. The loan officer at the bank was very helpful, and I believe she had everything submitted by last night. I’m not sure if I told all of you, but she is in the process of a painful divorce. It is definitely for the best and has been ongoing since early last summer so we are coming up on a year. Honestly, it’s not a big surprise for any of us and she and her children will be much better and stronger going forward once she gets through this. But, what a tough time this is to have to deal with unemployment, loss of business, attorneys and being a single mom. And having an ex who is not meeting financial obligations though he has a top level, high paying job at a very successful tech company. We’re really proud of how well she is handling everything. So, when you think about stress and its impact, say a couple prayers for my daughter and her family. It’s definitely hard to be this far away. I can tell you more in a private email sometime if you’re interested.
Our son and daughter-in-law had other distressing news yesterday. Our son has been in their new home and he is self isolating to protect our daughter-in-law and the baby from any germs he may have picked up during the move when he was in contact with so many movers and others. He wore his mask and gloves but you just never know. The new home is beautiful, but yesterday he and his beloved German Shepherd were on the deck talking to DDIL who is at her parents home for another week or so. She was telling him how she had to go and be tested for COVID-19 because she has many symptoms right now. She’s concerned because she staying with her parents and her dad has heart issues that make him vulnerable. While she was talking to him and he was standing on the deck which which is 15 feet from the ground but properly guarded by big railings, his German Shepherd dog jumped on the couch on the deck and leapt off the deck after seeing a squirrel. They’ve only been in the house a few days so the dog is just getting familiar with his surroundings. He landed hard on his feet and collapsed. After a trip to the vet, no broken bones were detected; however, he damaged his lungs with bruising and is now in a veterinary hospital on oxygen. He’s a big strong young dog and it’s heartbreaking to think of him brought in on a stretcher to the hospital. The doctor told my son that his chances of recovery are pretty good if he does not have to go onto a ventilator. He said that most dogs don’t recover if they wind up on a ventilator. So between that, DDIL’s possible Covid virus confirmation, and our DD‘s issues, we are just rolling along taking it one day at a time. Whew! So please say a few extra prayers for Bruin the dog, our DDIL , my DS who is heartbroken and for us. I am juggling a lot of balls right now worrying about our grown children and DGKs. You never stop worrying. Sorry to unload all of this on you my dear friends, but we all have our burdens to carry and we have a lot to be thankful for every day.
I did an online meeting yesterday and no surprise I was up more than 2 pounds. I am determined to get this under control if nothing else right now. I really need to restock veggies and fruit but I am loathe to go to the store. I might try to get some canned fruits without sugar added etc. just to have some healthy things in the house that I can grab. The hello fresh meals are working out well and I am trying to get more onto more of a schedule and to drink more water.
I’ll be back soon and I’ll write some personals when I get a chance. Now I have to get crackin’ and look at my work emails to see what I might accomplished today! Good to have a diversion. Bye for now and have a good day friends. Sorry if you see some typos – I was trying to use the microphone so that I could say a lot a little faster. Thinking of you all and your families and friends who are going through a hard time right now, too.

On a lighter note, I am continuing with my ukulele lessons every single night and it’s providing such a great diversion and a lot of fun at the sing-alongs. Pam I’m a long way from doing an open mic on this forum -ha ha - but I’m having fun!

OMG Judy....I am so heartbroken to read about all that is happening to you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are going out for all of you. If you need to talk feel free to come here or via email. (((((((((hugs)))))))))))
I hear you on the not wanting to go out to shop. Shortly after we shopped at Tractor Supply Walmart and Hannaford's the other day, we found out that 2 clerks at Walmart were being tested for the virus and one was positive. Had we known, I would NOT have gone there. Carl said not to dwell on it, as it could be false information. We do live in an over 55 community and some of the people here have little to do but 'talk'. Still it's quite scary. I will keep my own eyes opened to see if I can find out any information from a reliable source.
Took our first walk of the day, had coffee and my day is all planned and tracked.
Judy, again you are in my prayers ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

Good morning all!
I had a bit of a mental slump yesterday, so didn't get much accomplished other than baking bread and reading. I slept well and am feeling better this morning. I think part of my problem was that the bull gnats were so bad yesterday and there was not a breath of a breeze to blow them away, so I was unable to walk, even in the driveway. I also couldn't sit outside to get away from the news, but tried to distract myself by reading. I am really enjoying The Tea Girl book, but struggling to get through The Yellow House, though it did finally get a little more interesting.
We really enjoyed the eggplant lasagna last night and DH made garlic bread with slices of the peasant bread. Tonight will be leftovers, with a choice of chicken & mashed potatoes, lasagna or enchiladas.
We just learned that Walmart will offer curbside pickup of prescriptions, which is great since DH has one or more due this week.
We had a nice long chat with DBIL & DSIL, who are finally on the mend. He had a checkup with his PCP yesterday and has permission to start exercising again, as long as he takes it slow. He said it was amazing how sick he got, so quickly, which resulted in his very first ambulance ride. He had the early symptom of loss of the sense of taste, which he said was followed by an ultra-sensitive sense of taste which made him throw up anytime he tried to eat. I'm glad it's all behind them.
Judy - I am so sorry to hear about DD's and DS's troubles! We never stop worrying about our "babies" do we? I hope if DDIL has CV that she has a light case like our DSIL. Feel free to share here anytime. It's a way to vent that doesn't upset our DHs or run the risk of becoming part of a gossip mill.
Sue - I woke to a video of Abby howling at the moon which made me laugh. That kid! It was bright and beautiful and I'm sorry your storm clouds messed things up for you. It will be a nice way to remember DH's VBF in years to come. I hope your friends are okay, too.
Ann - Have a great day! I'm sure you'll be enjoying some walks.

Pam I can't help but LOL at the video you saw of Abby howling at the moon. That surely put a smile on my face. I thank you for sharing Carl is busy making bread. Our last few slices were stale, so I broke them up and threw them behind our shed in a wooded area. I'm sure some happy little critter will enjoy it. Happy to hear DBIL and DSIL are on the mend. They continue to be in my prayers. Will CBL

I got one huge project done this morning which makes me feel very good. My den had become a messy room with the futon serving as a catch-all for quite some time. I kept intending to clean it up, and it never made the short list. This morning DH went out to run errands and I just dug in and got started. I was all finished when he got home, and he was amazed at my progress!! He came in and asked if I was ready to walk, so we took right off and got that done too. Pam ~ So sorry about the gnats derailing your outdoor time. That sounds terrible; and I am glad you skipped it. I am so glad your DSIL and DBIL are on the mend! This virus is scaring me more and more. Ann ~ I'm with Carl .... don't let people's 'talk' upset you. I signed onto a FB page last evening for the township we live in and found lots of that kind of 'reporting'. Really?!? Reminded me of a Middle School post.Someone claimed to know that two employees of a local Kroger store were tested positive .... do I think they have that insider information? No, I do not. I think people love to spread 'talk'. Judy ~ I am so sorry for all your heartaches. I guess this pandemic is not going to give us a respite from the every day trials and troubles? Feel free to vent any time ... either here or on email. How sad about your DS dog. That is just soooo unfair!! Hopefully the dog will be okay. I will also say a prayer for your DDIL. We are expecting a sunny day with a high around 70, so we talked about eating outdoors this afternoon. Then we have a cold front coming through with lower temps for a couple of days. I thawed out the leftover Crack Chicken for tonight and will serve it with whole wheat egg noodles and green beans. I am also thawing out some eye of round steaks to put in the crock pot tomorrow. I have some ham (left from DH's VBF) that I will thaw out and fix for Easter dinner. Won't seem like a 'holiday' but that's okay. I had some good news yesterday. While texting with DH's VBF's eldest son I asked how long he would be here. He lives and works in North Carolina. Because of the 'stay-at-home' order, we have not seen any of the kids. He told me he plans to be here at least 5 weeks, probably longer. That means we SHOULD be able to see him and hug him before he returns to NC. He is able to work remotely, in addition their offices are closed anyway. So the timing of all this works for him so he can get his dad's affairs in order. He has been moving right along. They packaged up and donated all the food from the restaurant except for the freezer. The kids started emptying out their dad's garage. (Can you way pack-rat? ) I cannot wait to see them!! DH and I are planning to go for another walk this afternoon. Otherwise we are watching some TV. BBL. Make a great afternoon!

Sue I hope and pray that you can both see and hug your friends before their return to NC. Enjoy eating out. Here it's cloudy but very mild. The sun was out earlier but not now. We did get in two good hood walks and will go again after supper. Unfortunately the men did not come today to pick up the fans. They will be here tomorrow at around 11:00 a.m. Another emergency popped up and we can FULLY understand that! So, laundry won't be happening today Hope you enjoy your walk, Sue. Take care and be safe.

We had a beautiful sunny 70 dg day and I opened the windows and let some fresh air blow through the house. It was wonderful! Also right as I picked up my phone to text one of my possibly-COVID friends, I received a text from her that her test came back negative! She had been so very careful it was mind boggling to think she could have contracted it. Now she has to see her doctor tomorrow to figure out why she has a fever?? But the negative test was definitely encouraging!!
I checked in on my other friend who was tested yesterday. She doesn't have results yet, but her DH was recently positive, so it's pretty certain she will be as well. He had very mild symptoms whereas hers are much worse, but she isn't any worse today than she was yesterday, so that's good.
It is nice to finish out a wonderful day! We got in our second walk this afternoon, and enjoyed our supper (even though we forgot to sit outdoors LOL). We were watching the news and time got away from us.
Have a wonderful evening!!
