Happy Saturday all. Slept a little better last night and grateful for that. Woke up to no rain or sun or wind....I'll take it. Hopefully we'll see the sun today. Need my vitamin D I plan on washing floors today and a load of laundry. Other than that, the dance card is clear. Also need to look into that finer nail polish. Take care and will pop in later.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~ Happy Saturday!! We woke to a lovely day which is already in the low 40’s. Nothing to crow about since our “normal” this time of year is in the 60’s but at least the sun is shining and it promises to go up near 60 before it’s all said and done. I will definitely get out there and walk today. I have fallen somewhat behind on my walking this week and the scale reflects it. I really don’t have anything that I have to do today, since I’ve done cleaning and laundry and shopping already this week. I will definitely get out for a longer walk this morning, as I’ve been slacking on that. Then DH will walk with me this afternoon. Judy ~ I ordered a box of WW Chocolate Caramel Mini Bars, but haven’t tried them yet. I tried one of the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Mini Bars and it was good. I also ordered the Mint Cookie Crunch Mini Bar and the Fudge Brownie Mug Cake Mix (which only has 3 packets). At least that will give me some treats to look forward to though I use them very sparingly. I have to agree that I also LOVE tuna!! I use it quite a bit and fortunately DH likes it as well. It really helps me make up to my ‘two fish meals a week’. Hope the news from your DD is all good! Ann ~ Definitely Albacore packed in water. I get my tuna at Costco and really prefer the Kirkland brand. I have a handful of cans in the cupboard, but I can see a Costco trip in my future. I I bought a regular size bag of coffee (we prefer Dunkin Donuts) at Meijer and already had to open it. I buy the large one at Costco, so that is on my list. I will keep those WW Nacho Chips on my list for future orders. I could relate to you ordering a new CD player as I did the same thing when my (original) Kindle Fire died. I promptly went on Amazon and ordered a new one and got it quickly and free – and the new one is so much better than the old one (which I loved!). Pam ~ Hope you enjoyed your parking lot rosary. That is such a great idea! I enjoyed all the conversation about finger nails and polish. I have worn acrylics for about 20 years now but they are almost half way grown out currently and I am seriously thinking of just letting them grow out and removing that expense from my budget. I no longer enjoy them as much as I once did, so why bother? I have used Wet ‘N Wild polish for years now as it is the only one that stays on my nails. Consequently, I have amassed a large amount of bottles of different colors. Over time I gave all my other polishes away to my nail gal. Now I find they no longer make Wet ‘N Wild, and I can’t find it anywhere, so there’s another reason to give it up. I may or may not polish my nails soon. I can clean off the polish and file down any rough spots and let the acrylic grow out. Since the beauty supply stores are not open, I cannot go buy a bottle of pure acetone to remove them. I figure by the time I can, they’ll be almost grown out, so why bother?? Here’s the other thing: For years I bought my favorite polish for right around $1 a bottle – and now the ones that are out there are much, much more expensive! We are amassing quite a wardrobe of masks. I bought two from the alterations lady, then my school friend brought us 4 over, and yesterday my neighbor gifted us with two more. This way, when we wear them we can drop them in the laundry and wash them. The Dr. on TV showed us last night how to clean them – and it was with regular laundry detergent & wash, then dry in the dryer. That will work fine for me. Some people were telling me things that made it really complicated, but I prefer simple, and I’m glad that is what he recommends. Our Governor has extended our stay-at-home order for two more weeks (until May 15th). She did open up golf courses & bike shops, and landscaping and boating (and a few more) but added the requirement that we MUST wear masks whenever out in public in a closed space (like stores). That made me especially glad that we have an abundance of cloth masks to use. The only place I have been going is the grocery store, and I always wear a mask, but now it will be everywhere. That makes me hopeful that maybe ‘someday’ I’ll be going somewhere besides the grocery store . (Ya think??) Well, time to get my day started. We had a fruit bowl and my homemade breakfast casserole this morning, and enjoyed it very much! BBL. Make a great day!!

Back at it. I am functioning on lazy mode today. Floors may or may not get done. Spent time lingering over coffee and just chatting with Carl over nothing in particular...just going back in time and reliving happy moments I did manage to shower and 'spruce up' a bit. In a bit we'll take a walk with miss LuLa. Our weather is warming up also. Supposed to get in the 60's today. Sun is trying hard to come out to stay. I surely hope it makes it. Sue, like you, we have a collection of face masks and I wash them in the washer only. I'm not into complicated stuff these days or any day for that matter. LOL we all have our favorite brand of tuna. I am NOT a fan of Bumble Bee as it's too 'fishy' for me. My brand of choice if Market Basket, and when I'm there I normally come out with 8-10 cans That way I'm sure to not run out! I keep two cans in the fridge at all times so it's all ready to mix up when we get the urge. Good point on the polish. In my case, I am afraid that my nails will break as I am NOT a glove wearer when cleaning and that takes a toll. I really need to get a move on. I shall be back later..........waving

Good morning, friends. I had a bit of a rough night again thanks to Daisy who once again got me out of bed at 4. I’m not thrilled with this new pattern of behavior! I had a big discussion with her this morning and she listened attentively, but no promises to follow through.😫. Plus we were up later than usual watching the Wire. So, it’s going to be a bit if a draggy day. I’ll get a walk in later and maybe a 😴 nap.
i was very pleased to see a 2.5 drop in lbs today. I’ve been drinking more water and tracking. Baby steps and I think some of that gain was from salt and sweets. I’m just relieved to see that box move down a bit.
Ill check in in again soon. Sue, I think you can probably order the pure acetone from Sally’s. That’s where I got mine and I removed all the gel/powder. Like you, I think I may give those nail salon visits a rest and save a little $-especially if I continue the ukulele. Short nails make more sense and even a clear if very light polish will help. Oh- I find it ironic that in Georgia, the first thing they are opening are hair and nail salons—the places where the closest physical contact happens! Why not dry cleaners or small service businesses?
ill check in soon.

Judy I thought the same thing...stay away from the hair/nail salons...Good grief!!!!! One thing this is bringing front and center is the fact that we CAN do without all those 'little things' we placed so much importance on. I also have a better appreciation for hair stylists and nail techs I was going to wash floors today and was going to prepare a pot roast but the day just got away from me. Instead I put the half frozen chili in the crock pot and we'll have that over rice tonight and tomorrow the pot roast will get done. I checked in with my sister and all is well with her, the kids and their families. Then Carl LuLa and I took a rather extended 3.5 mile walk around the hood. Just beautiful out their today. Now I'm going to finish up here and then sit and plug myself into some nice relaxing music and either nap or read. Judy fantastic job on your weight loss. LOL on talking to Daisy. We also had a later than normal night binge watching Better Call Saul Take care....and will CBL

Good morning friends!
I see I didn't make it here yesterday and tried to think what kept me so busy. I had DH help me move the baker's rack to a spot where it could dry undisturbed, even with lawn service coming. I used 2 cans of a light green spray paint and it came out surprisingly well. Now, I just need some pretty pot plants to put on it.
Our OEP got a donation of masks from Hanes which were passed out drive-thru at the town hall. I got a couple for us, which will supplement our supply. We got 4 from a hometown girl who now lives in BTR in exchange for a partial pack of elastic I found in my sewing box. DSIS is also supposed to send me some. Those, along with some bandanas DH found in a dresser drawer should work fine, since we rarely go out and about. The mask rule is not mandatory here, but strongly suggested and makes great sense to me. They are uncomfortable and warm to wear, however. Since the virus doesn't survive long on cloth anyway and soap and water takes care of it, just as on our hands, I see no reason to jump through hoops to clean the masks. I will just throw them in the washer and dryer as suggested by professionals who know way more than us about it all.
At 3:00, I headed over to church. Instead of the rosary, Fr. Brent began reading the Gospel of Mark, half and then the other half today. It's getting a little warm at 3:00 pm sitting in the sun. I finally had to roll up the windows and turn on the AC. With as little driving as we are doing, I guess it doesn't hurt to burn the gas. Also, the Highlander periodically shuts off the engine while idling to conserve gas. After a short stop at home, DH and I went to town and picked up 4 lbs. of boiled crawfish for me, then back to the village and picked up a shrimp-stuffed loaded potato for DH at the Spillway Cafe. Their loaded potatoes are huge and we can get two or three meals from one, making it a true bargain at $11.
I got in a short walk yesterday, but plan on a longer one today. I am getting close to a 17 minute mile on a regular basis. I made it one day and 17.5 minutes two other days, so now is not the time to slack off. I have been slacking on yoga and my joints attest to it, so I'm also planning to at least do some stretching today.
I stopped for a carport visit with Dee Thursday afternoon. She made an unbelievably stupid decision to get her hair cut and colored. She goes to someone local who has a shop behind her house, so it would just be the two of them, which she thought would be okay. NOT! First, the woman's little granddaughter was there and had to constantly be reminded to back away. Then, when the hairdresser went to her house to check on something, Dee asked the little girl how her mom and dad were doing. "Not too good. They have the virus." was the answer. When the hairdresser came back, Dee asked point blank and instead of admitting and/or apologizing, she just said "They weren't supposed to talk about that in front of her." No shortage of stupidity in this situation. The hairdresser is risking her license by violating the closure order and Dee's very life by exposing her to CV. The hairdresser is very much aware of Dee's many health issues and still allowed her to be exposed. Dee knows she is extremely high risk for death from CV, yet decided her hair was that important. Unbelievably stupid!!!
DH has been enjoying the Veronica Mars series on Hulu. I watched the first couple episodes and really liked it, but it is tricky picking up where you left off with us being on different episodes, so I will let him watch now and I switched to St. Elsewhere, one of my all-time fav series.
Roast in the crockpot with potatoes, onions and carrots and a side of beet greens is on the menu. We prefer our beef roast cooked with Lipton onion soup mix, rather than the ranch dressing recipe.
Ann - I like the Sally Hansen Insta-Dry. It dries in 1 minute and only requires one coat, so is quick. It lasts fairly well if you add a coat every couple days. If not, it is quick to replace.
Sue - I think your governor is one of the more cautious ones, which is good since the Detroit area has been hit hard. In the long run, I think the well-thought out, healthcare-based decisions will be supported by history. We already know from other countries, as well as the Spanish-flu epidemic, what happens when precautions are abandoned too soon.
Judy - Your DD & DGKs are precious to you and it's truly only money. In your place I would be doing the same--helping in any way I could. I hope all goes well. Your SIL sounds like he should be considering some long-term counseling. Great job getting back on track! I am still struggling, but making small changes and trying to be more mindful.
Time to get something accomplished. I will leave you with the facetime conversation between Madison, 5 and Abby, 6, overheard by DSIL this morning: Madison: "Do you get to see your friends?" Abby (very melancholy) "Nooo. Coronavirus is very serious." From the mouths of babes!

OMG Pam!!! I am just heart sick over Dee going to get her hair done and the stylist NOT coming clean with her at the get go. Also her response was way beyond foolish! Some people simply don't get it and as a result this will continue to go on and on, taking innocent lives along with it. Praying for all involved.
I'm tired. That walk in the fresh air combined with staying up past my bedtime did me in.
If I don't get back to the cafe... talk tomorrow.

Back again before shutting down for the day. The weather today was absolutely beautiful. We took full advantage and clocked in almost 7 miles! When it's this nice, it's easy to do. We had to take miss LuLa home as she starting panting and we don't push her. Brought her in, changed her water, wiped her down and we hit the pavement again. It's supposed to rain the next 2 days, so that will be when housework gets done Sweet dreams and see y'all in the a.m.

Wow, Ann, your walking astounds me!! That is fantastic. I took a nice walk with the dogs. Maybe a mile... lol! I doubt I could walk after 7 miles. How many steps was that?
Pam, I’m so sorry for your friend and that deceptive hair stylist putting her in jeopardy. She must be a wreck but hopefully it will be ok. Hair is definitely NOT worth it. That’s how easy it is to really jeopardize yourself.
All your dinners sounded so good. I use Lipton onion soup in beef and pot roast too. I was planning to make a chicken orzo soup but the day got away from me so I’ll do it tomorrow. We had an easy dinner of tortellini and pesto. We both love pesto. DH had some blueberry pie and I treated myself to a glass of wine. I had my ukulele singalong at 7 and now we’re on season 2 of the Wire. I really enjoy the lessons and our instructor plays well but her singing voice leaves a lot to be desired. She’s just enough off key to make it hard to sing along or try to harmonize. 🤣. Not that I have much of a voice either but I do well following when someone’s not tone deaf!

DH and I took a nice long ride in the country through an area DH had never been to and I had not seen since my junior high years. It took about 1 1/2 hours and was a nice break. We rocked along with Sirius XM 70's channel while we rode. Made for a pleasant time this afternoon. When we got back, I walked a while, shared a beer with DH on the patio, then walked some more. My audio book is quite enjoyable: Sandra Brown's "Deadline". Not too racy, not too suspenseful--just right.
Ann - I am in awe of your walking. 7 miles?!?!
Judy - I can blame the hair stylist, but Dee should have known better than to chance it. I will be holding my breath for 14 days...
I am jammified and polished both toenails and finger nails after today's discussion. Sally Hansen's Insta Dry "Let's Jam". Feeling festive as I settle in to read before bedtime.

I polished my nails with an Opi called Kielbasa something - a peachy frost shade- subtle. I like Sandra brown, too. I found out that they teach college courses based on The Wire ! Off to bed!

Good morning all. Slept pretty well last night with a few occasional wake ups! So far not raining out there. Carl's out now with miss LuLa. I stayed behind to wipe down all hard surfaces and do my morning routine here. Should the rain stay away, I'll walk...but it won't be a marathon like yesterday. That 7 mile walk was stretched out over the entire day. No way could I do that all at once Both your nail colors sound interesting. Thanks Judy and Pam for sharing Judy never knew that they teach courses based on The Wire Cool! When I do a roast I also use lipton onion soup on occasion, but only a half package as I find the entire package too salty. Then again it would depend on the size of the roast. We are on the last season of Better Call Saul. They did come out with Season 5 but it's not on Netflix yet as it's fairly new. Pam happy you are enjoying your audio book. I've yet to listen to one of those. Time to finish up my online stuff. Waving to Sue and will CBL.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday!! I slept well last night – and in fact, DH reported that I didn’t talk at all the last two nights. He (jokingly) said he almost felt lonely because I wasn’t “talking to him”. <LOL>
Yesterday DH went to Whole Foods and to Kroger and came home loaded down with goodies (mostly of the healthier kind). We now have a vegetable drawer and fruit bowl FULL as well as berries and other fruit in the bottom shelf of the fridge. Talk about feeling rich!!
I got in two walks yesterday – both doubles – once in the morning and again in the afternoon. DH has a sore swollen knee (job related injury) so I went alone in the afternoon while he showered. We had a FaceTime visit with our young Retrouvaille couple in the afternoon. I have never used FaceTime, but they suggested it, so we learned how. Actually since they called us, it was pretty easy. We just answered the phone and there they were on my screen. There’s my “learn something new every day” for yesterday.
I was finally able to get on the IRS site to check the status of our stimulus payment, and entered our banking information. I checked this morning and it gave me a date of May 1st. It said it would be mailed then, so I don’t know if it will be put in the mail or direct deposited?? But I’ll find out Friday. At least now I know we are in the loop. That’s a job well done in my book.
OK, since you guys are all doing nails, perhaps today I will clean off my polish and file down any loose edges and then repaint them? I did look for acetone on Amazon, but (1) I have to buy a 16 oz bottle so it will get wasted, and (2) there is a delay in getting it. I may check Walgreen’s and see if they have it. I could always pre-order it and pick it up at curbside. We’ll see how I feel? I am still leaning toward letting them just grow out.
Pam ~ That was a great idea that you had about taking the drive and listening to 70’s music! That would break up the boredom. But I fear I would want to *go somewhere* and that just isn’t possible right now. I CANNOT believe your friend went and got her hair done!! My hairdresser is the owner and lives upstairs and lives alone. Even with all that, I wouldn’t ask her to do my hair, nor do I want to go there. It seems a lot of people are much braver than I am. I will just wait until it is safe. Since I’m not going anywhere, my hair is not a priority (nor are my nails). That was a precious conversation between your DGD’s. Out of the mouths of babes, indeed!
Judy ~ Congrats on your WL!! If we’re patient, it always comes. I agree that water is key! Much as I thought about using acetone to remove my nails …. I remember asking my gal one time how one got them off and because I wear acrylics, she said to soak them, then take an orange stick and slowly and painstakingly remove the nails. I understand it can be time consuming – and I know my nails will be damaged underneath. All in all, I am just talking myself into not doing it.
Ann ~ You really rocked it with the walking yesterday! Back in the days when we went to the Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk – we walked about 7 miles Labor Day morning. The bridge itself is 5 miles, but we had to walk to it and then back to our cars so it really added up. That is quite a feat! Good for sleeping well. I have the past two nights as well, since DH told me I haven’t been talking.
So I realized this morning that we still have (at least) three more weeks, and I am starting to get stir crazy! It’s not that I don’t have things to do, but it’s getting old ….. I will just have to take a deep breath and remember that we are on the home stretch now. I’ve been in the house for five weeks (and off work for six) so it’s a “walk in the park” now. It has been greatly complicated for us by DH’s VBF’s untimely demise. We never got to mourn properly; and still haven’t seen his kids. I was texting with the eldest the other day and everything is tied up in Probate, and they are moving slow as snails. DH suffered an attack of “sad” yesterday morning – they seem to come out of nowhere when we least expect them. Glad we have each other and a ton of shared memories!
BBL. Make a great day!
