hpeterson1951, I want to really like the show lol. And I try to give a new show 3-4 episodes to develop because the first 1-2 are usually set-up for the actual story line.

Like DotRen, Iโm planning on giving Walker a chance. Itโs hard to get used to seeing Jared as a dad after 15 years as a hunter, but Iโm sure after a few weeks Iโll get used to it. Actually I enjoyed seeing โSamuelโ as Walkers dad and hope for more cameos from Supernatural. I also watch the Boys on Prime (not a show I recommend to many people because of the violence, language, nudity etc) and Jim Beaver has a small role, and I read that Jensen Ackles will be joining the cast in season 3.

Lupin on Netflex - if you don't mind captions - it is in French. DH and I really enjoyed the first season.
Amazon Prime - Hope Gap (with Annette Benning) ; Herself - Both really good movies

Watched episode 1 of Virgin River on netflix. I'll give it a couple of episodes, but it didn't grab me right from the start. I finished watching The Crown- boy they make Charles out to be an a-hole. I know he seems to be in real life, but it's so blatant (artistic license?) on the show lol.

MarieL, lani, we really enjoyed Lupin. I highly recommend it. We keep closed captions on all the time; it's amazing the little comments we'd miss otherwise. Guess I'm old; my DGkids laugh when they watch TV with us and ask to turn it off! DotRen, I think the Crown is pretty accurate. I'm sure there is some exaggeration about some characters but Charles was horrible to Diana and acted like a spoiled child during that whole time. But, life for the Royals is very different than us mere peasants but I don't look forward to him being King. May Elizabeth live a long, long time. I wonder if this is why she hasn't officially retired; she knows Charles won't be as effective as William (IMHO!!)

Linda, we have closed caption on all the British films!!! I only wish there was a way to have a running translation for my son-in-law when we are visiting with them in England or they are here! I say a lot of "yes" - "oh,right" I met my husband when he was in school in SC and he told me after knowing him for awhile (he is from NJ) he couldn't understand a word I said on the phone!!!

MarieL , British films have a different cadence in their speech. They are speaking English but I still struggle to understand them at times. I think they speak faster and they have a lot of different words for things. I notice it a lot when we watch "New Tricks" and the cops use slang that is beyond me. I almost can't watch any Scottish film because their accents are too strong for me to understand. Oh, except for Outlander; I have no problem understanding Jamie! LOL! I tried Peaky Blinders, another British cop series but we didn't have closed captions then and I could not keep up. I laughed out loud when you mentioned DH not understanding you in SC. He's from NJ, right? Now, there's another strong accent! LOL!! FUHGETABOUTIT!

I'm going to give Walker a chance.
I started watching discovery of witches the other day. They were doing a marathon and I taped it. I'm not sure about it. I like that kind of thing but they are all running together (twilight, vampire diaries, originals, shadow hunters, etc). People from opposite sides fall in love (human/vampire, vampire/witch, human/witch) they are looking for something, someone betrays them, etc
I'm going to give it a few more tries.

I am pretty good with the Brit/Scot accents. I will sometimes keep turning the volume up thinking it will help! I do have a friend of 25 years who hails from Scotland; maybe that gives me a leg up.

Episode 2 of Walker: a bit better, but way too much overuse of "flashbacks" - I hope they get past that soon.

DotRen, Virgin River didn't grab me either. My husband has watched all three seasons and likes it. They do throw everything they can think of into the pot over the three seasons.
